Happy 50th chapter! (this is ridiculous 😂 it wasn't supposed to get this long.) I'm guessing about 6 or 7 more chapters until the end!

Chapter 50

Penguin walked the hallway towards his next class, between third and fourth period, deep in thought and letting himself be carried by the current of students on autopilot. Suddenly, he was grabbed from behind, and two strong arms wrapped around him. Scared half to death, Penguin stopped in his tracks. The next thing he knew, a head was placed on his shoulder and long blond hair tickled his cheek.

"Hey babe," Killer said, hugging him tightly.

Penguin's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, what?" He was confused for a second. "What the hell is going on?" He wiggled out of Killer's hold, so he could look at his boyfriend's face, his heart beating loudly, and hope swelling up in his chest. "Oh my God, is it happening?"

Killer smiled sheepishly at him, bringing his hand up to Penguin's cheek, holding him tenderly. "It's happening."

A broad smile appeared on Penguin's face. He couldn't believe this. Was Killer actually coming out? He noticed how some people around them looked at them, but most kept walking, undisturbed. "What? Why? I mean," he stammered, "don't get me wrong, I'm all for this, but why now? Did something happen?"

Killer shrugged, but he actually looked happy. "I told Wire and Heat."

Penguin stared at him. "You just told them?"

"Well… it's a slightly longer story, but I'll tell you later." Killer leaned towards him. "Can I just kiss you now?" He didn't seem to wait for an answer and leaned in farther.

Which was a shame, because Penguin did have one. He pushed Killer back before their lips could meet. "Wait."

Killer pulled back, confused. "Wait?!" he repeated in disbelieve. "Don't you think I've waited long enough? Do you have any idea how nervous I am right now?"

Penguin chuckled. "I can imagine. But since you've already waited so long, you can wait about one more hour, right?" He looked pleadingly at Killer. "Come out during bio. I want to see Drake's face when he finds out about us."

Killer raised his eyebrows. "Wow, you're mean." He chuckled and shook his head softly. "Okay. I do still have to get back at him for kissing you."

Penguin smirked. He knew it was mean, but he had to see Drake's face. He had to know how Drake would react, even if they might be crushing his heart before his eyes. Though Penguin didn't believe Drake's crush was that bad. He'd survive. "Can't wait," Penguin said. "But I really gotta hurry now. See you at bio."

Killer smiled at him. "See you at bio."

When Killer walked into the canteen during lunch, he immediately spotted Penguin. He smiled at him and waved shortly, before continuing to walk towards his own table. He didn't see Drake anywhere, so he would have to wait for the big reveal until biology, after their lunch break. But Killer didn't want to hide it anymore, and he didn't want to pretend he didn't see Penguin anymore.

Killer sat down on the table that was claimed by their group of alternatives, close to where Heat and Wire were already sitting. "Hey," he greeted his friends, while still looking at Penguin.

His friends greeted him back, and from the corner of his eyes, Killer saw them look from him to Penguin. "Did you shove your tongue down his throat in public yet?" Wire asked.

Killer snorted. "Not yet. We agreed to do it during bio, which is after lunch."

"Why not now?" Heat asked.

"Long story. You know Drake, right?" Killer started to explain anyway. "So, apparently, he has a crush on me. He also kissed Penguin once. So, we decided we wanted to see his reaction when he finds out about us." He shrugged. "And he's in our biology class, so…"

Heat and Wire stared at him. They spoke at about the same time.

"That's kinda mean."

"How did you manage to get two guys crushing on you without even being out of the closet?"

Killer smirked. "I guess it's just my natural charm," he said, stretching his arms in a casual manner, but in such a way that he flexed his muscles. It wasn't that Killer thought he was that good looking, but both Drake and Penguin had said he had nice arms, so there had to be something about them. Besides, he was actually kind of proud of his arms. He worked hard for them.

Heat rolled his eyes, but Wire snorted. "Show-off."

Killer's smirk only grew at that comment. He was nervous as hell about coming out to the whole school, but talking about it so casually with his friends made him feel somewhat liberated already. He didn't even care that some people sitting near to them might overhear their conversation. The gossip probably wouldn't go so fast that it would reach Drake's ears before bio, right?

The liberated feeling made him feel slightly giddy, though. He stood up and walked over to Bonney, who was sitting a little further down the table. She was currently invested in eating her lunch, and didn't notice him until he had leaned over her and talked right beside her ear. "Guess what day it is?"

She jumped, and started coughing, trying not to choke on her food. When she had recovered somewhat, she send him a murderous stare. "Friday."

Killer just smirked. "Guess again."

"The day you almost lived up to your name and killed me by making me choke on my lunch," she said, still coughing every now and then. "Or the day I killed you for it."

Killer snorted. "Like you could." He wasn't going to let his good mood ruined by Bonney's idle threats. He knew she would want to hear what he had to say. He leaned a little closer again, and said quietly, "It's coming out day."

Bonney raised an eyebrow at that. "No, it's not. I'm pretty sure that's October eleven."

Killer stared hard at her to get his meaning through, but thinking she might not be able to see it well, he raised his bangs with his hand, so the look in his eyes became a little clearer to her. "It's coming out day for me."

She snorted. "Oh, that's what you look like underneath all that hair?" Then she smiled at him. "Really? I don't believe you. Three days ago, you were telling everyone about your 'secret girlfriend'."

He rolled his eyes and let his bangs fall down again. "And now they'll find out it was a secret boyfriend. I already told Heat and Wire. I'm gonna kiss Penguin in front of the whole class in about…" – he looked at the clock – "20 minutes?"

"You told them?!" she said surprised, and a little louder than necessary.

Heat, who had come after him apparently, leaned on Killer's shoulder. "You wanna tell me she knew?" he asked, sounding just as surprised. Then his tone turned offended. "You told her, but you didn't tell us?! We were your friends first!"

"I dated him," Bonney was quick to defend him. She shrugged. "Of course I knew."

Heat seemed to weigh this argument for a moment. "Fair," he commented, though Killer had no idea why that was a good explanation. It wasn't like she knew while they were dating or even when they broke up. She found out after that.

"So you've known since you were dating?" Heat looked at Killer. "When did you start dating Penguin? Were you dating them at the same time?"

"Of course not!" Killer shook his head amused. "I started dating Penguin after… I think two weeks after we broke up. Though, I must admit I did already like him when I was dating Bonney."

"Oh!" Bonney exclaimed quasi-offended. "Wait, were you thinking of him, while you were kissing me?!"

Killer shrugged, but smirked at her. "Maybe. Sometimes."

"How dare you!" she said, also obviously amused, and stuck out her tongue at him. "Anyway, you're really going to do it?"

"Yeah," Killer said without hesitation, though his earlier nervousness came back again. "I mean, would I have talked about it so openly in the canteen before? I'm pretty sure some people have overheard us, and I actually think Quincy is following our conversation." All three of them cast a look at the girl sitting on the opposite side of the table.

Quincy, who was in Wire's year, smiled sheepishly. "I caught some of that, yes." She looked Killer in the eyes. "So… you gay?"

Killer's chest tightened for just a moment, but he swallowed to calm his nerves. A voice in his mind still screamed not to let anyone know, that they would look at him through rainbow-colored glasses if he did, but another voice – that sounded suspiciously like Heat – said he didn't care about what others thought. He would have to let that last voice win from now on. "Yeah," he said. "But can you keep it quiet until at least after lunch break?"

"Sure," Quincy immediately replied. She smiled at him. "Congrats on coming out."

"Thanks," Killer said a little awkwardly. Then he turned to Bonney. "See? I can do it."

She looked impressed. "This is a whole new Killer I see before me."

Killer shrugged. "Same old Killer, just being open about who I like."

"As he should be," Heat commented.

Killer looked at Bonney. "So… you wanna join me?"

Bonney looked sharply at him, her eyes telling him that he shouldn't try to say one more wrong word. "In what? Kissing Penguin?" she asked innocently, even though it was obvious she knew what he was talking about. She shrugged before he could answer. "Could be hot."

Killer guessed she wasn't ready to come out yet, and he respected that. Her time would come, even though it would have been fun if they could have done it together.

He snorted. "Nah, I'm not gonna share him, sorry."

Penguin hurried towards the biology classroom as soon as the bell had rung. He had wanted to walk towards class together with Killer, but unfortunately, he had forgotten to take his books out of his locker before their break. He had been too excited about what was going to happen to think of his books, so now he had to take a little detour to retrieve them. When he finally reached the classroom, it was already half full, even though the teacher wasn't present yet.

"Sorry, I'm saving this seat for someone," he heard Killer say, and when Penguin looked, he saw that Drake had wanted to sit down next to him. Penguin couldn't help but smirk when Drake looked slightly disappointed and went to sit behind Killer.

As Penguin walked towards the desk next to Killer's, his smirk only grew. He couldn't believe this was actually happening. When he dropped into the chair next to his boyfriend, he could already see Drake's face sour further, from the corner of his eyes, when Killer didn't protest to this. He must have realized Killer had been saving the seat for Penguin.

Then Penguin turned his full attention to Killer. "Hey," he greeted him. His heart was beating loudly in his chest, as if he was the one who was about to come out to the whole school. He could only imagine how Killer would be feeling.

But Killer smiled back at him. "Hey," he said as well. He did sound a little nervous.

Penguin hadn't bothered unpacking his bag yet, and instead had placed the whole thing on his desk. There were more important matters to attend to first. "Are you ready?" he asked, not breaking eye contact.

Killer nodded slowly. "Ready as I'll ever be."

Penguin looked expectantly at him, waiting for Killer to take action. This had to come from him; Penguin wasn't going to take initiative. Killer took a long deep breath, and then leaned in, grabbing the visor of Penguin's cap and pushing it slightly upwards.

Their lips met, and a spark went through Penguin's body. There was no way back now. The kiss was tender, and lovingly, and lasted for a few seconds, before Penguin decided to push it a little further. He slightly opened his mouth and let his tongue run over Killer's lips. Killer answered this with his own tongue, carefully touching Penguin's, his lips not parted too far, as if it was their first kiss. The contact lasted only a few seconds, before Killer pulled back.

When Penguin opened his eyes, he saw Killer smile slightly, but his eyes looked terrified. "Everyone is staring at us," Killer whispered, while barely moving his lips.

Penguin let his eyes wander around, and noticed that Killer was right; the eyes of the whole class seemed to be on them. Penguin's gaze ended on Drake, who stared back at them in shock.

Penguin couldn't help but smile cheekily at him. "I win?"

Drake packed up his books and his bag, not bothering to put the one inside the other, and stood up. He briskly turned around, and walked away towards the exit without a word.

Shit, okay, maybe that had been too mean, Penguin realized.

"Where do you think you're going?" The teacher held Drake back at the door.

Drake mumbled something Penguin couldn't hear, but the teacher shook his head. "You've had enough time to go to the toilet. Sit back down and wait until our little break."

The whole class started talking almost at the same time, while Penguin watched Drake walk back into the classroom with a defeated stance. However, he didn't return to his former desk, but took a seat as far away from them as possible.

Penguin felt a hand on his leg, and looked up at Killer.

"I'm not some prize to be won," Killer said, sounding a little accusingly.

Penguin shrugged. "Well… not just 'some prize', no." He smirked. "More like the jackpot."

Killer snorted and shook his head. "I think you hurt him."

"I didn't hurt him," Penguin defended himself. "You broke his heart, but that couldn't be helped." He placed his own hand on Killer's leg. "He had to know you're mine."

"So, Killer, you're gay?" someone shouted through the classroom to be heard above all the chatting that had filled the room.

Closer to them, Adele asked, "Are you two dating?" A lot of other classmates shouted or said incomprehensible things as well.

The teacher, who had reached the white board, looked confused at the class. "What's going on?"

"Killer and Penguin were kissing!" someone informed him.

All the while, Penguin was looking at his boyfriend, who had stiffened slightly. "Really?" he heard the teacher ask, sounding surprised. "Those two?"

Killer stood up suddenly, and the class fell silent. Killer cleared his throat. "Yes, I'm gay. Yes, Penguin is my boyfriend. Has been for almost six weeks now."

"Six weeks?!" they heard Drake whisper. It could only be heard because the rest of the class was completely silent.

Their teacher seemed to be confused. "But you were fighting…" He closed his eyes when he seemed to have done the math. "…until six weeks ago."

"Told you we kissed and made up," Penguin mumbled.

Killer decided to ignore all of them. "Nothing has changed, so just carry on with your lives." He gave one sharp look to Mohji and Cabaji, who wisely kept silent, and then he sat down again.

The teacher cleared his throat. "Well, let's do that then, shall we? Open your books at page 48."

Penguin leaned towards his boyfriend. "I'm so proud of you," he said quietly.

Killer grabbed his hand and placed it on his own chest. Penguin could feel how loudly his heart was beating, and he chuckled. "Really, you did well," he whispered. "Now you can be yourself completely."

"Yes." Killer smiled at him. "It does feel good. Free."

"If you two have been together for six weeks already, there's no need to be so touchy during class," the teacher spoke sharply at them. "Penguin, you didn't even take your stuff out of your bag yet. If I feel like you're not able to pay attention to class, I'll have to separate you two."

"No, sir! Yes, sir, I'll pay attention!" Penguin was quick to say, but he wasn't able to hide his amusement. He took his book and notebook out of his bag and opened it to the right page. When the teacher was satisfied Penguin was focused on biology, he returned his attention to the rest of the class again.

Penguin moved his chair a little closer to Killer as inconspicuously as possible. While their teacher was talking, he carefully let his hand wander towards Killer's leg, and placed it softly on his thigh. Killer immediately, but softly placed his own hand on top of it, and held it.

Penguin still couldn't believe it. They didn't have to hide anymore. They didn't have to hide anymore! Well, technically they still had to hide their touch for the teacher, if they didn't want to be split up in class, but they didn't have to worry about anyone else seeing it anymore! The huge smile that was on Penguin's lips, wouldn't leave his face for the next few hours. And when he looked at his boyfriend, he saw an equally happy expression on his face, even though his eyes still shifted around worriedly from time to time. Penguin guessed it would take some time getting used to for Killer.

When the bell rang for their five-minute break, Killer turned towards him, and gave him a short kiss on the lips. "I gotta talk to a guy for a moment. Be right back."

Penguin smiled at him. "Feels good to do that, doesn't it?"

Killer smirked while he stood up. "Incredible."

Penguin followed him with his eyes as Killer walked over to Drake's desk. He strained his ears to hear what Killer was saying.

"Hey," it was a casual enough greeting as Killer leaned on the currently empty desk before Drake's. "You okay?"

Drake looked at him for a few seconds, and then cast off his eyes. "Penguin told you, didn't he?" It was barely audible from where Penguin was sitting.

"Told me what?" Killer asked, making Penguin bite back a snort. It was kind of mean trying to make Drake admit his crush out loud.

Drake colored bright red. "Never mind."

Killer crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Well, he did tell me you kissed him…"

If possible, Drake's face became even redder. He glanced at Penguin for a second, catching him watching them, before Drake looked up at Killer again, looking slightly afraid of him. "That was a mistake."

Killer huffed. "As long as you know it."

"I don't even like him," Drake defended himself.

A slight smirk came to Killer's face. "I know. But I do, and I won't accept anyone but me kissing him, whatever their reasons might be."

Drake looked at his desk. "Don't worry, it won't happen again."

"Oh, I know it won't," the way Killer said it, made it sound like a threat. "I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page about it." With that said, he walked back to his seat.

Penguin looked at Drake a little longer. He stared miserable at his desk, and Penguin began to feel sorry for him just a tiny bit. When Killer sat down again, Penguin turned towards him. "Was that necessary?"

Killer shrugged. "I just wanted to make clear he shouldn't try anything like that again. I wanted to tell him earlier this week, but… well, I couldn't really tell him you were mine back then."

Penguin sighed. "You broke his heart and then you threatened him… I feel a bit sorry for him now."

"I didn't threaten him…" Killer replied. Penguin raised an eyebrow, and Killer got a tiny smirk on his face. "Well maybe a little bit. But he'll get over it." Then he turned his chair towards his boyfriend, so his legs were no longer underneath his desk. "Peng…" He smiled, and patted his thigh in an inviting manner.

Penguin looked surprised at him. Was this how Killer was out of the closet? He could get used to this. "Are you sure?" he asked.

Killer nodded. "Have you seen how hetero couples act in this school? We deserve to be able to act the same way."

Penguin smirked as he stood up. "You're right." He sat down on Killer's lap, one leg on each side, facing his boyfriend.

They looked each other in the eyes for a few seconds, and smiled. "I love you," they said in unison. Penguin burst into a giggling fit, and Killer looked amused too.

"I love you more," Killer said.

When Penguin had stopped laughing, he shook his head. "Impossible."

Killer wrapped his arms around him, and pulled Penguin close, hugging him tightly. Penguin let out a content sigh as he nestled himself into Killer's soft hair. He stared in the direction of the people behind him, but didn't really see them. "What do you want to eat tomorrow?" he asked.

"You," Killer said, placing a kiss on the base of Penguin's neck.

Penguin chuckled. "Besides me."

"Hmmm, I know a good pasta recipe," Killer said. "I could make that for you."

"You like cooking?" Penguin asked him.

"Yeah." Killer let his fingers run over Penguin's back. "Especially if it's for someone special."

Penguin smiled and hugged Killer even harder. "I love you so much! Let's go grocery shopping together tomorrow and then make dinner together as well?"

"Sounds good," Killer agreed. They held each other in silence for a little while, until Killer spoke again. "Peng?"

"Hmm?" Penguin answered. When his boyfriend didn't continue, Penguin leaned back to look at his face.

Killer immediately pushed his head underneath the visor of Penguin's cap, and kissed him on his lips. Penguin kissed him back. God, he was so happy. Partly because he could just kiss Killer in public now, but also because Killer seemed to be really happy, and that in turn made Penguin happy as well.

"Ew gross," they heard Cabaji mumble next to them. "Do you really have to do this in our faces?" It was immediately followed by a painful scream.

Penguin and Killer looked up, startled by the sound. They saw Sora look incredibly innocently over her shoulder, inspecting her stiletto heeled shoe. "Oh, I'm so sorry, did I step on your toe?"

Cabaji let out a stream of curses while clutched his foot.

Sora turned to Killer and Penguin and smiled. "I think you're a cute couple."

"Thanks." Penguin smiled back. "I think so too." Both Killer and Sora chuckled at that.

"Penguin, is Killer your chair?" their teacher asked as he walked past them towards the front of the class.

"Yes," Penguin answered cheekily.

The teacher raised his eyebrow. "I don't think so. I'd like you to face the whiteboard, so we can start class again."

"Okay." Penguin stood up, turned around, and sat down on Killer's lap again, this time facing the whiteboard. Killer immediately wrapped his arms around him as well.

Penguin didn't miss the amused smile that crossed the teacher's face for just a second. Then he nodded towards Penguin's chair. "Come on, not during class."

Penguin pouted. "Boo," he said quietly, but he did go back to his own seat. He could hold Killer company during their break afterwards. They had all the time in the world now to be together.
