Lena gazed at the gash in Kara's side. "My god. Do you need me to get a doctor?"

"It'll be fine," said Kara. She was sprawled out on Lena's couch. "I'm going to heal right up like usual."

"It's not healing," said Lena. There was a nervous tremor in her voice.

"It's the kryptonite," said Kara. Her voice was weak. "It's slowing my healing factor. But it'll start working soon."

"Are you sure?" said Lena.

"Yeah," said Kara. She pointed at the injury. "Look, it's getting smaller."

Lena looked at the wound again. Kara was right. The gash was smaller. Not by much, but it was shrinking. Lena's heart fluttered and she let out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank god."

"Just like I said." Kara's voice was stronger. "Can you get a wash cloth? You know so we can clean this out."

"Sure, sure," said Lena. She ran off to the bathroom to get the wash cloth. Kara looked down at her wound. It was just a scratch now. Lena returned with the wash cloth. She rubbed it around the edges of the wound, mopping up Kara's blood. Did Kara have blood? Soon the scratch was gone. Lena took the cloth to the bathroom sink and wrung it. When she returned to check in on Kara, she had gotten off the couch. Kara was standing and stretching.

"I feel so much better," said Kara. Lena walked up to her and put her hands around her. She pulled Kara's head into her chest. She didn't resist, despite being more than capable of doing so. Lena kissed Kara's forehead.
