Dear Scarlett Alister,

Oh, how much I wanted to receive a letter from you. I have waited every day for it to arrive, I have not slept well in this anticipation for your letter. You have smitten me with your beauty the day I met you at that party. I really enjoyed talking to you that day, it made me feel seen and appreciated. No one has ever given me the feeling of being loved in that way. I know that what I'm feeling isn't love, just appreciation for you, but who says that my appreciation can't grow into something else, something bigger.

Well, I accept the deal. Let's start with the basics, I was born as the son of an archaeologist and his wife and I had a brother. He was adopted before I was, he came into a lovely family and I haven't seen him since. I was born in a small village near London. Soon after may brother was adopted, I was given a new family too, but they didn't feel like family, not really. They have given me the name Desmond Sycamore. I'm happy with that name, it sounds grand. I bet your parents gave you the name Scarlett due to your gorgeous red hair. It does look like there have been rubies woven into it. It makes you stand out, and quite frankly, I like it. I also want to see you smile, so I'll tell you anything you want to know. And If I don't know anything about a certain topic, I will make sure to be able to present to you an explanation or my opinion the next time we engage in such wonderful conversation.

I don't quite understand your dislike of Tulips, as they stand for love, just like the rose. But I guess that being handed a red tulip would make anyone nervous. Now that I know that you don't like Tulips, I'll make sure to never get you any. Instead, if I were ever to proclaim my love for you, I'd go with roses, a classic and loved by many women all over the world. Maybe I would even gift you Lilies or Forget-Me-Nots. Well, whatever flower I will present to you, I hope you'll accept it. Blue is such a nice colour, your eyes are a wonderful shade of blue. It fits with your hair in a way, it makes your beauty quite extraordinary. Well, as I said, I always wanted to be an archaeologist. That you are a medical professional is great, if I get hurt on one of my expeditions, I can always count on you to kiss it better. I hope this doesn't sound too brash. I wouldn't want to scare you away. I want to know so much more about you.

About your questions:

I not much of a person to watch something so arbitrary as the sunset. I have read that it's supposed to be romantic, but I yet have to see the appeal. Maybe I can with you one day.

I don't believe in such silly nonsense, but if I would, than I think that I have found mine. However, I don't mind you believing in that sort of stuff. People are fascinating because they think about and believe in different things.

As for pets, I'm studying too much and are out a lot of the time to have a pet, however, a dog or something of that sort would be a nice companion in my humble opinion. Maybe I'll buy you a chinchilla or something like that one day. You never know what the future holds.

My turn asking you again.

Do you like to watch plays in a theatre? I for one used to go a lot when I was growing up, since my parents took me there a lot. I didn't like dressing up for that so much though. Maybe we can watch a play together soon, if you'd like.

What's the biggest secret you keep from your parents? My biggest secret would be that most of the books I had were the ones my biological father left behind. I couldn't bare the thought of those research materials collecting dust.

Will you grant me the honour and have dinner with me soon? We don't have to go somewhere fancy or something of the sort, just something small would suffice for me. However, I understand that we don't know each other well enough for that, but maybe having dinner would rectify that. I totally understand if you don't want to though. It was a simple question.

With all said and done, I await your swift reply. I hope you spare me more sleepless nights, my darling.

Sincerely,

Desmond Sycamore
