Dear Scarlett,
Oh how happy I am to have been able to have dinner with you. You are quite remarkable, if I may admit. Recently, I have read 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', one of Shakespeare's classics. You did say that you like reading them or rather would watch one of his plays. I sadly can't remember what play we watched, but I enjoyed my time with you. Well, back to the play I was reading, I have found a rather interesting quote. I'll write it down for you, I hope you like it as much as I do.
"Love can transpose to form and dignity. Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind and therefore is winged cupid painted blind."
It is partially true. I have been smitten with you because of your beauty, admittedly, but I have fallen for you due to your kindness and your gentle smile. I dread the day that you will be taken from me, either because I made a mistake, or because death himself is jealous of myself and decides to take you with him. No matter, I will be heartbroken that day, wishing everyday from that moment on to be reunited with you. I wish to be able to call you mine one day, not just calling you my girlfriend, albeit with the concern about how your father will react to me being the man you chose, and concern about me not being good enough for you. You deserve the world, my darling, and I, your humble servant, shall give it to you.
Anyway, let's get to know each other more. So I will answer the questions you have for me and I will ask you some more. So here we go:
I believe that if the world would've wanted us to meet and be friends, they would've made us cross paths regardless. I'm not a superstitious man, but I do believe that there are some things that are bound to happen in this world. And if we wouldn't have become lovers, maybe we would've been friends.
Yes, I do like to read fiction, though I am more of a mystery type of man. I enjoy a good book where you keep guessing who the culprit is, it's quite thrilling and fun. Well, let's hope that tragedies aren't an omen for us, my dear.
I like home-cooked meals, no matter what, I do have a certain distaste for foods that are considered high class. My family are quite the snobs, I never really fit in, so a food from the high society, like caviar or lobster or what have you, is something that, despite it being quite delicious, I just can't eat.
If you ever plan on going to a debutante party, I can guarantee you that you will not be seen as an equal. I dread the day I have to return to my parents because I'll have to introduce you to them. They are not the easiest to get along with.
Anyway, my turn to ask you.
What do you like to eat? I may not be a good cook, but I can try and cook something for you. Love goes through the stomach after all, maybe I should just let you do it, or we could do something together. Would that be a good date?
My father always asked me, what I would do if I had all the money and Time in the world. What would I do if neither ethics nor money nor anything else where an issue. I always said that I would try and find my brother, hoping he is safe and sound, and let him know I'm still around. What would you do, if you had all the money in the world, an infinite amount of time and neither ethics or morals would hold you back?
If you were a gemstone, or some other form of treasure, what do you think would you be? I for one see you as a ruby, not only due to your hair, but also because you're compassionate and very temperamental, which I enjoy. I think of myself as a sapphire, a gemstone known to be associated with ambition.
I await your next letter with anticipation my love. I hope I did not ramble too much for your tastes, and I hope that I see you again soon.
With love,
Desmond
