Vali sighed as he woke up in this newly familiar room. Pushing aside the now-familiar sheets on his now-familiar bed, he forced himself to sit up, swinging his legs - so familiar to him in this room of peculiarity and yet still being strangely foreign to him - out of the bed and onto the cold, wooden floor.
The room he stood in was so different compared to what he was used to. Gone was his old home, messy with relics from his previous jobs, filled with books both new and old, books as ancient as the world he lived in and as new as can be. Gone was the perch that his beloved familiar Raijin rested on, gone was everything that made his home… home
This foreign room he now awoke in held none of the things that Vali had grown used to in his 27 years of life on Earthland. No, this room was barren, only leaving him with the things he'd been gifted by the people who found him and the things he had on his person at that time. This room, with its plain white walls and fresh oak flooring, held only the bare necessities.
A bed, decorated with a single pillow, sheet and blanket sat in the corner of the small room, a small bedside table on the open side which lay… a phone of all things. Across from the bed lay the single door to the room, locked shut as he preferred nowadays. At the base of his bed, leaving enough space for him to sit on the floor if he wished, lay a desk and a chair, sitting under the single window the room had, and behind the desk/chair combo lay a small, singular wardrobe.
As he said the room was plain. Clean. Fresh. It… wasn't what he was used to, not at all. Even his room at Iva's palace had more stuff in it when he first moved in there 23 years ago. That's not to say he has a problem with the room… okay, well, he does have a problem with it but that's for all the wrong reasons. He did have a problem with it because of the circumstances that had brought him to stay there but he didn't find fault in the people who had given him the room nor did he find fault in the people who let him stay there.
Does that make any sense? He hoped so.
God he had mixed feelings on everything that had happened in the past year, he both hated it and… as loathe as he was to admit it, a part of him was happy at the turn of events. Seriously you'd think after everything he'd been through he could finally, finally, be left alone to live the rest of his days doing whatever he wants but no, Khaos just had to come knocking, bringing as a storm of chaos as he did.
Ugh, he wants to bash his head into the wall. When he was meeting with the Gods after the war against Alvarez he didn't think something like this would happen goddammit! Fuck, the next time he see's that smug prick Khaos he's gonna bash his fucking face in, creator of the Omniverse be damned!
He could've at least asked him if he wanted to-
"Are you up yet brat?" He cut off his mental rant, sighing as the elderly voice drifted through the building. He stood with a stretch, ignoring the clicking of his bones, a small moan leaving his mouth as he excoriated his muscles for the first time that day.
Moving around the room he grabbed a loose grey hoodie that lay halfheartedly off of his chair, pocketing the phone as he did before leaving the room. God everything had been so much simpler before all of this happened before that bastard Khaos decided to have some more 'fun'
Ugh, he should probably give a little context.
Basically, after the whole war in Alvarez Vali had been called up to the heavenly realm, apparently, Zeref had turned himself into some pseudo-time God and fucked some shut up so the Gods were letting him know they'd be busy for the next few decades fixing Chronos' mess.
Anyways, while he was in heaven and chatting with his divine family that little bitch Khaos appeared, of course, the elder gods knew their father/creator and introduced him and-
Well the little fucking prick decided that his 'fun' wasn't finished and decided to send his most favourite entertainment to another fucking world
And not just any fucking world.
Khaos had sent him back to a world that was literally Earth, just a few centuries in the future!
Like seriously nearly everything was the same, all of history up until his death was exactly the same as he could remember it to be, except in 2021 - y'know, the year he fucking died - people started developing fucking superpowers of all things! Seriously, some fucking kid in China was born like a fucking flashlight and then suddenly people around the globe are being born as if they're mutants from Marvel!
Now the question on everyone's mind must be; who the hell is he staying with and what has he been doing for the past year?
Well, the answer is… long.
When he first arrived in this world he'd been knocked unconscious, something Khaos had no doubt done with the intent to make his acclimatization in this world easier. Anyways his unconscious body had been sent shooting through this building in Japan, specifically in the Yamanashi Prefecture. The place he'd appeared in belonged to this old man named Sorahiko Torino, also known as Gran Torino.
Well, Gran Torino ended up taking him in and nursing him back to health until he was awake, he still had a lot of wounds on his body from the many fights that had happened during the fight against Alvarez. Anyways, once he woke up he'd been confronted by Gran Torino about who he was and what he was doing in his home
Vali, not knowing what had happened, was extremely confused by Gran Torino's question and…. Well accidentally revealed he was from another world. Luckily Gran Torino had seen enough shit to at least humour him for the moment and within a day his student - a man named All Might, he'd never learned the heroes actual name - and a detective by the name of Naomasa Tsukauchi
Luckily during the time, it'd taken for the other two men to appear, he'd been filled in on some of the basics of this world, specifically the fact that over 80% of the population were born with superpowers and that the man Gran Torino's protege was bringing in's quirk was the ability to detect lies.
And he's not talking lies as in if you believe it hard enough it's the truth but the ability to effectively read the fabric of reality to determine if a person's words or thoughts were actually true.
Okay, it's not that overpowered but it's still close to the actual 'truth'. Naomasa's quirk simply let him distinguish what is effectively an 'absolute truth' from an 'absolute lie', meaning that it doesn't change even if a believes their lie completely- his quirk will tell him that the person's words are false
Anyways, he was introduced to this Naomasa person and after a series of questions they all came to the agreement that it's for the best that absolutely nobody knows the truth behind his situation, Naomasa and All Might ended up pulling some strings to get him a new identity and everything.
Honestly, he got very lucky with where Khaos dumped him, if it was literally anyone else then he probably would've been living on the streets or in an insane asylum, and while the first option didn't bother him too much - he had lived through worse condition when he was fighting in his first war, the Bellum Civil War - but the second option wasn't the greatest either.
He'd have broken outta there faster than a kid from Caelum can find crack.
Of course, he hadn't been idle in the past year, he'd still spent everyday training as best as he could in the new conditions he found himself in. Say what you want about him, but Valentine Mizushima was a product of hard work and no way was he gonna forget that again. He didn't want another Reigus to happen after all.
However just because he wasn't idle doesn't mean everything was grand, mainly…
Well, for whatever reason - probably Khaos's own amusement - he'd been returned to his old, 14-year-old body when he arrived here. Oh, his Magic was still as strong as it was when he was 27 but being a kid again was far from something he wanted to. He's now officially been 14 three times after all.
Anyways, apart from his physical capabilities, he was nearly exactly the same as he'd been before he got here.
Now, what else apart from basic training had he been doing in the past year? Well, remember how he said almost everything was the same as it was in his first life? Yup, the biggest difference between this Universe and his first one was that pop culture was vastly different!
Oh sure some larger franchises were the same, Indiana Jones was a thing, Marvel Comics and the MCU, DC and the DCEU still existed but strangely Star Wars didn't, ya wanna know what else was missing-
"Oi, Pop Star! Are you coming downstairs or not! I know you're awake!" He chuckled. Yup, most of the music from his homeworld was missing, the music he'd painstakingly introduced to Earthland was gone, well kinda. All the music he knew was gone, all the artists that lived during that time period seemingly disappeared and all the famous music from the early 21'st century was replaced by something else.
He couldn't really do it with his career as an author, mainly because all of the books or manga he'd want to rewrite still existed in this world but also because his book writing journey ended pretty quickly in Earthland and he just didn't have the time nor patience to pursue the two careers simultaneously again, especially since he was being forced back to school this year.
He had missed the final year of middle school - apparently, he was being 'home schooled' - but All Might, Naomasa and Sorahiko were forcing him to go to High School
Like, he would've gone anyways, he'd already decided that he was gonna be a Pro Hero and to do that he needed to go to a school with a Hero Course but still, it was annoying being reminded all the time that he was going to a school.
"Took ya long enough" Vali rolled his eyes at the elderly man, he was thankful for Sorahiko, he'd put up with his bullshit for an entire year after all but the old man was like a mix of Gildarts, Makarov and Porlyusica, all of the former's strength and care but the attitude of the latter.
"Yeah yeah, whatever. What's up Gramps? I only just woke up before you started yelling for me" He grabbed a bowl from the cupboards, not facing the smaller man until he'd filled the bowl with enough cereal for an entire family, eventually sitting opposite the old man he referred to as Gramps.
The two sat in silence for a moment as Sorahiko chewed his own breakfast - a desert called Taikayaki, yes he is eating desserts for breakfast. Vali's definitely not jealous of that - before eventually clearing his throat and speaking, an oddly serious look on the elderly mans face.
"The date for heroes to recommend students is losing in, are you sure you don't want me to put your name forwards? With your skills and your past it's a surefire way to get accepted" The way he spoke reminded Vali of his late Guild Master, he could remember the days Makarov spoke to him like this, when he'd question his choices but respect his decisions
He chuckled, smiling into his cereal.
"Yeah I'm sure, it'll be fun." He laughed at Sorahiko's sour face "What? It will! I haven't been able to do anything but spar with you or All Might for the past year Sorahiko and you of all people know how boring it gets to fight the same person for so long. This is the longest I've gone not taking a job in decades and I'm finally able to do something other than sparring and training in the back alleys."
"Isn't that why you started doing music again?" The Old Man had been curious about that when he first brought it up with All Might, it had only taken him a month in this new realm to get bored of the monotony and as such asked the big guy if he knew anyone who could help him out.
As he expected, he did. All Mights name was much like Makarov's in Fiore, basically, anyone would do as he asked simply because of who he was, he was the kind of famous that people would give him free stuff for no reason.
And as it turned out, All Might had saved some big-time producer from a wannabe terrorist attack a few years back.
Well, one thing led to another and with All Mights backing Valentine Mizushima (re-)entered the music scene!
Obviously, once news got out that someone All Might himself sponsored was starting his career all eyes turned on him, the producer was quick to use All Mights fame to boost his own and within half a year he was one of the hottest rising stars in not just Japan but the whole world. Did people find it weird that a 14-year old was singing songs about sex, violence and drugs? Not really, the world had seen weirder shit the past 4 Centuries.
Sure some cultures were still more conservative than others but the world had all around become more 'free' than it was in his time.
But yeah, he'd restarted his career in music, releasing some completely original songs and some 'original' songs from his old timeline. He'd already released his first album some months ago and was steadily becoming one of the biggest figures in music nowadays which was cool.
Still not enough to make him less bored though, sure he could spend days in the studio - because he's done so on many occasions - but just writing songs all day was boring. Concerts were as fun as he remembered them to be, less dramatic than the ones he held back in Earthland and with fewer people as well but fun all the same.
Though that last part was mainly because his Manager was going the Elton John route, starting with tiny venues so tickets go out in a flash and slowly building everything up so that when you star in huge stadiums everyone wants to get tickets because they sell so fast, basically it's a method to make sure you always sell out shows nevermind how many seats are available.
Was it annoying that he was playing smaller shows than he was used to? No, not really, back in Earthland he'd already been one of the most sought after musicians in the world as he'd never done an actual concert until nearly 11 years after his career started. So when he did do concerts everyone wanted to be there for them. This was effectively the same thing, except instead of building hype through mystery this time it was building hype by making him and his shows exclusive
His ability to connect to his audience and the ability to make himself more 'famous' was easier in this world because he could use different platforms to his advantage. He'd be posting messages on Twitter while refusing interviews from big-time news stations, posting videos of his training or samples on Instagram and turning down the chance to open for other bands.
All of his for the simple fact of making his lifeless boring than it was at the moment. He was growing closer to his audience, making it so they felt like he was a more human celebrity than more of his 'peers' while also making his time on professional television more demanding. His poor manager was getting dozens of calls and emails a day asking if he'd appear for a short interview or if he'd be down to do a short live performance.
It was… fun.
He couldn't do this as effectively in Earthland, if he wanted to interact with his audience he had to do so in person as phones weren't really a thing, he had to rely on Sorcerors Weekly and various other news stations to talk to people. He'd circumvented these things by doing random popup shows and stuff but just putting up a message on Twitter and replying to a few dozen people was easier than trying to travel the country in complete secrecy and then do a whole ass show on top of that.
...actually, it's no wonder he was Earthlands most famous musician, he actually took the time to meet his fans and do shit like that, only his protege was doing stuff similar to him…
He wonders how she's doing
(In another world, 14-year-old, blue-haired girl shivered before her biggest show, about to perform her older brother figures most popular song in his favourite venue, the Domus Flau Stadium, when her partner and fellow musician bumped her shoulder in reassurance)
He shook his head with a smile, he may have had some problems with Wendy - and Sherria - when he first met them but that was way in the past now. Plus, it was mostly Erza and the rest of Team Natsu he was annoyed at during that time period… poor Wendy, her first impression of him was some brutish monster angry with everyone and everything.
Well, he was angry at everyone and everything but that was for… A different reason… fucking Natsu and Gray and their inability to actually act their age…
He shook those thoughts away, he missed Fairy Tail but well, he's here now. Who knows after he finishes his time here who knows what'll happen to him. Maybe Khaos will drop him somewhere else.
"I mean, yeah I did restart the whole Pop Star thing because I was bored but that didn't really change anything but make me famous." He sighed, but his smile was still there "Honestly if I knew All Might was that famous I wouldn't have asked him and would've just started posting videos on youtube."
His complaints were met with a smirk and laugh
"You'd have gotten bored fast."
"Well obviously, recording each and every instrument, editing all of the vocals and stuff together, recording a music video and then posting it for it to just get 5 views or something would've been annoying and time-consuming but it's better than just writing the sheet music for the band to follow." He rolled his eyes, standing up to clear away his plate "Plus it's not like we have the equipment for me to do that stuff"
Sorahiko scoffed, looking up at him with a smirk
"don't act like you can't just download an app for all of that stuff, I'm old Vali but even I grew up with advanced technology" Did that Geezer just call him a boomer? What the fuck
"I take offence to that you old fart, for a guy who never used all of this tech before I think I'm adapting pretty well." And he was! The future had a lot of tech that was new to him, similar in a lot of ways but also different. He knew enough from his first life to be proficient but compared to 'kids his age' he's probably lacking in technological skills… how annoying
"Yeah Yeah whatever, you didn't deny it though."
"You didn't deny it blah blah blah, you win old man, shaddap" He grumbled, ignoring the old man's victory smile. Sadist.
"What did you call me?!"
"Nothing, nothing. Are you sure your hearing isn't going old man because you're hearing things!" He shouted back to the elderly man, who chuckled from his place at the table. Vali meanwhile, headed back up the stairs of the apartment, grabbing some of his designated workout clothes as he prepared for the day before him
Vali smirked as he walked between the large UA gates. The day of the exam had finally come and he was as prepared as he wanted to be for the test. His written exam had been sent in months ago by Sorahiko, the man using his old connections to the school to get his exam results accepted for review. Now was just the practical exam, something that only the biggest Hero Schools around the world did.
They have to after all, with so many applicants you have to ensure that the people you're choosing are the best of the bunch. It was also why UA's exam times are so early, it gives the students time to apply and test for other high schools.
To be honest, it felt strange walking back into a school. In his first life, he'd been in college when he died and then in Fiore he'd never even stepped foot in school, sure schools existed in Fiore he just didn't bother going to one, he'd gained all the knowledge he needed from his first life and everything he needed to know about Earthlanbd was taught to him by Iva.
It'd been 28 or so years since he'd stepped foot in a learning establishment, so suddenly being thrust back into school life was weird.
Plus, he felt naked. He'd been told by Sorahiko that he couldn't use Ascalon in the entrance exam- hell he couldn't use her at all until his Acceptance Letter from the government came stating that he can use it. His lack of a weapon was strange, he'd always had Gungnir on his wrist until Sagemath destroyed it and even after Gungnir's destruction he'd been gifted Ascalon by Lord Marios pretty much straight afterwards
Suddenly not being allowed to even wear the blade was strange, it made his wrist feel empty, especially since he kept grabbing at it just to make sure Ascalon was there.
Not only was he missing Ascalon he'd been forced to take his precious earrings out. It was a sad thing to happen but it was finally time to retire those old things. He'd been wearing the same set of earrings for over two decades now, only ever switching them for the pair he'd been gifted by Minstreli Queen or the set he'd been given by Mirajane.
Sadly the two he'd been gifted had been left behind in Earthland and as much as he loved the earrings his Mom had given him he didn't want to risk losing them in this world where he wouldn't even be able to let her know he'd lost them. As such he'd been forced to leave them at home, locked away in a tiny little box leaving his ears free of jewellery until his new pair came - a pair of golden earrings with tiny amethysts encrusted into them.
So yeah, all of his typical jewellery was missing from his body, the only thing he had on him that he was used to being the very clothes on his back- the black hoodie Sorahiko had bought him, the black vest and shorts he'd bought on his first shopping spree to this world and a pair of simple black running shoes.
...he pouted, he was wearing so much black nowadays, he wanted to wear his pink and blue hoodie but his black hoodie is his workout hoodie so it would be better to just ruin this one instead of one of his favourites
Still, he could've just bought a-
"Um, excuse me?" He turned his head, raising his eyebrows at the person who had shaken him out of his thoughts. The person, a girl with completely pink skin, a pair of small yellow horns and pitch-black sclera that brought out the girls bright yellow irises. Next to the girl stood a boy, with pitch-black hair and a scar above his right eye. Of the two he identified the girl as being the more outgoing of the two friends, not looking uncomfortable at all when talking to a stranger, meanwhile, the boy looked a mix of awkward and confident.
"Yeah? What's up?" He smiled at the pair, pushing aside his own confusion at why he was suddenly being talked to
"Huh- Oh, you're- you're Valentine Mizushima, I didn't know you'd be coming here! I was just listening to some of your stuff! Oh- sorry, you probably get that a lot." he chuckled, enjoying the wide-eyed look he received as they worked out who he as
"It's fine, I'm used to it. So what's up? You clearly didn't know who I was before coming over" He laughed again, the girl opposing him brightening up as well
"Yup! W-wait that came out wrong. Ah, sorry- do you know where we're supposed to be going? We've been wandering around for the past 10 minutes and can't find where we're supposed to go." He smiled, opening his mouth to speak- "Oh, I'#m Mina Ashido by the way! It's nice to meet you"
He smiled and turned to her friend who had gathered his confidence in the minutes that he and Mina had conversed
"Oh, I'm Eijiro Kirishima! A pleasure to meet you, dude!" The boy introduced, speaking for the first time
"Nice to meet you too. Valentine Mizushima, but I feel like you already knew that" He enjoyed how they both flushed red, it was always greet meeting fans. Well, the ones who don't pass out from simply meeting him that is. "And yeah I know where we're going, it should be on the welcoming letter. You both do have some clothes to change into don't you?"
The two nodded with Kirishima, who had two bags thrown over his shoulder - how did he miss that?.
"Well, we're supposed to drop our change of clothes off at the locker room before heading to the auditorium to find out what the exam is." The two nodded, with Ashido mumbling the two locations to herself "Since we're both heading there anyways do you just wanna go together?"
"Seriously?!" The two shouted, dragging some attention towards the three of them. He could see people narrow their eyebrows at him as if recognising him but shook it off. Of course, Valentine Mizushima wasn't here, he definitely got a recommendation from All Might.
Heh, he loved defying expectations.
"I don't see why not, we're going to the same place anyway. Plus it'll be nice to get to know my future classmates." He winked at the two students, the three of them laughing at his words before taking off.
"So why become a hero? Isn't your whole music thing enough to set you up for life?" It was Kirishima who asked, the student raising an eyebrow at him.
He couldn't blame him, he'd mentioned it on Twitter that he was gonna be trying out at some of the heroics schools around the country but he didn't exactly say why.
He hummed
"Well, I've always wanted to help the people in some way and what better way to do that than to be a Hero? The whole music thing started up because I was bored. I've been homeschooled since I was a kid so I started writing music to distract myself and well, It's just something that I do now" He confessed the cover story they were using. As far as people in this world were concerned he'd been taken in by Sorahiko Torino as a child after his mother died in a villain attack
"Seriously? That's epic!" Mina exclaimed loudly, her voice echoing through the corridors as she turned on them excitedly. "So you get to do your hobby full time? That's awesome, I couldn't imagine doing professional dancing on top of all of this!"
"You dance?" He asked, interest on his lips as he looked her over. He could see she was in shape even despite the clothes, the same with Kirishima as well, but he'd assumed that was probably just because of her hero training and not because she was dancing.
Hell dancing wouldn't have even been his first guess, gymnastics would've been
"Yup! I started learning breakdancing when I was a kid" So it wasn't even to help with her work as a hero? Damn
"That's so cool" And it was! He knew a lot of different dancers from his time in minstrel but it was rather rare to see a breakdancer in the capital. Most of the Big Break Dance schools in that country were in other cities, though that was because the Capital was supposed to be a 'respectable place for their Monarchy, a place with only the most beautiful song and dance'
He restrained the need to roll his eyes. He'd been lectured by those old fools in court about his music too many times to count. Hey, just because the queen didn't care for fucking Ballet and classical music doesn't mean it's his fault that she loved his stuff! Also, he wasn't the one seducing the queen damnit! It was the other way round! Hell she wouldn't let him leave until he'd given her his chastity
Not that he was complaining, Queen Melody was a sexy, sexy woman after all.
"So why'd you start breakdancing anyways?" He asked. Turnabout is Fairplay after all
"Hmm, It was just something that seemed interesting at the time, I only found out about it because someone was dancing in one of the old shopping malls in Chiba." The girl admitted, not bothered by the question at all.
"You guys are from Chiba huh? That's pretty far just to go to school." The two shrugged, unbothered by the fact. If you told him in his previous life that he'd have to go to a whole different city just to go to school he'd have laughed at you, but in this life that seemed pretty normal
"What about you Valentine? Where are you from?" He smiled at the black-haired boy
"I live in the Yamanashi Prefecture with my grandfather" He smiled. When he first found out he was in Japan he'd been lost on the map, sure he knew where Japan was but other than Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Nagasaki he didn't know anything about the country, so when he was suddenly told he was in Kofu, Japan he was lost
Eventually, he worked out that the city he was in was Kofu, which was located in the Yamanashi Prefecture but it took him longer than he'd ever admitted.
The three of them fell into silence as they reached the locker room, with the three of them splitting up to put their bags in their respective locker. He knew his off by heart, his eidetic memory coming in handy so he didn't have to remember the number he'd been given. Kirishima on the other hand had to look through his phone for his locker number
As the two aired for Ashido to return, the Blackett turned to him, a large grin on his face
"So how'd you get All Might of all people to sponsor you? The dude's one of the hardest people to get anything out of and you never answer when you're asked online" he could see the boy relax after asking, clearly having held back the entire time. He chuckled, this was his favourite part- mainly because it made 'Uncle Might' uncomfortable.
"It's not as interesting a story as you might hope." He chuckled at the boy's downtrodden face ad he couldn't stop himself from telling him the cover story they'd made. "Alright, well. My Grandfather actually taught All Might during his time at UA and the two of them are still really close, so when Gramps took me in I just spent a lot of time with him, when I told him I wanted to do my music professionally he got in contact with a guy he'd saved a few years ago and well, the rest is history"
"So you're telling me All Mights like your Uncle or something?" He chuckled at the boys excited, dumbfounded exclamation and Vali was so glad the room was near empty when he did
"Something like that, He wasn't around as much as you're probably thinking and I don't know him that well but yeah, I guess he's technically my uncle." He would enjoy seeing the kids reaction to All Might joining the staff this year. Well, that's if he makes it into UA anyways.
"That's so manly dude! It must be so cool being related to All Might!" He rolled his eyes with a smile "So is he like, your favourite hero or something? Ah, probably not..."
"Nah, he's cool and All but well, his private and public personas are completely different. You didn't hear this from me but All Mights super awkward in person, put him in front of an audience and he's amazing but one on one he gets so nervous it completely ruins the image he projects" Kirishima looks like his dreams were both crushed ad fulfilled like he was moments away from laughing at the idea that All Might of all people was socially awkward
"But my favourite Hero huh…" He hummed, thinking back to all the heroes he'd read and seen, as well as the few he'd met to "Fat Gum. Yeah."
"Really?" The shocked reply made him laugh
"Yeah, I mean, the guy is completely devoted to helping people. He spent 5 years in the police force before eventually becoming a Hero and spends a lot of his time helping people as well as fighting criminals, he didn't one of those heroes who only fight the bad guy but helps the little old ladies cross the street" He smiled, remembering seeing some videos of the guy on tv.
"What about you?"
"Huh?"
"What about you? Who's your favourite hero?"
The boy flushed, seemingly embarrassed but he quickly puffed his chest out, pride in his choice.
"Crimson Riot! He's the manliest hero there is!"
"Huh? Oh, are we talking about our favourite heroes?" Mina's voice broke them from their conversation, the Pink Girl bursting the small bubble the two had made "Mines Godzillo!"
He hid a snicker at the answer. Godzillo, the man with the Kaiju quirk. Basically a really shit version of Godzilla
"I mean, fair enough, there's nothing better than a giant Kaiju" He admitted, snickering as they started their trek towards the auditorium.
"Exactly!" The Pink girl laughed, smiling as she looked between her two companions "Sooooo~ what were you guys talking about while I was putting my stuff away."
"Oh, I explained to Kirishima why All Might sponsored my career as a musician" Ashido's eyes widened, jaw-dropping open as she turned to face her friend, who nodded his head excitedly
"Seriously? Ya gotta tell me, Valentine, please!" She begged, looking at him with the ever used Puppy dog eyes
"No can do Ashido, sorry~" He snickered
"Please~! You told Kiri! Why can't you tell me!"
"Hmm, I don't know. Should I tell her Kirishima?"
"I don't know, Vali. Is she manly enough for it?" Kirishima was definitely his kinda guy, Ashido as well, they messed well.
"C'mooooon, tell me~"
"Fine~, fine~." The only girl of the trio gave a celebratory 'Woop!' before settling down, staring at him until he answered "Basically my Grandfather taught All Might when he was at UA and the two grew close, so when Gramps took me in I spent some time with the guy, as Kirishima said, he's kinda like an Uncle to me, just not one I see very often"
"Dude that so sick! That explains so much!" He chuckled at her reaction, mainly because both of them ha- "Wait your grandfather taught All Might? So he was a hero as well?"
Well nevermind then, he was gonna say that neither teen realised that Gramps was a hero before the pinkette twigged on
"Yup, the old man went by Gran Torino in his youth and was part of a hero duo called Floating Power" He smiled at the name, it was such a strange name for a hero name, kinda cringy too but who was he to complain. His old team went by the name 'The Battle Gods'.
"Huh… I've never heard of him" He laughed, the bellow echoing through the corridor and drawing annoyed looks from many people in the corridor.
"I'd be surprised if you did, he retired 30 years ago" The two 'ahhed, understanding what he thought was so funny.
"Anyways, do you guy know what seat number you've got? It'd be best to look now before getting inside. Don't wanna go one way just to go the complete other side" He asked the duo, who quickly checked their phones for their seat numbers
"3712""3713" Answered Ashido and Kirishima respectively
"You're probably together since you're from the same school. Do you know if anyone else from your school is applying here?"
"Huh, yeah most of our class applied, guess we'll be sitting with those guys again" Kirishima answered, sharing a smile with Ashido
"Nevermind that, where are you sitting Valentine?" He chuckled but answered nevertheless
"I got seat 5059 so I'll see y'all after the exams over." The trio chuckled and said their goodbyes, heading into the auditorium where they split up

"WELCOME, ONE AND ALL TO THE U.A. ENTRANCE EXAM!" Vali cringed at the echoing voice, even as far back as he was the man at the front of the stage was just way too loud. 'Huh' He tilted his head briefly 'It's a pretty cool power at least, like the opposite of Cobra's sound magic- oh god, if Cobra were here he'd be in fucking agony- any of the dragon slayers would'. "LEMME HEAR YA SAY 'HEEEYYYY'"
As tempting as it was to shout back out - and by the Gods was it tempting - Vali refused to lose his professionalism right now. While this wasn't a job or anywhere near as dangerous as the things he'd done in Earthland, he was still going to take this seriously, at least, until he felt like he didn't need to.
However, since Vali didn't shout out the roo remained in awkward silence, an awkward silence that spanned a few moments before their 'Host' continued as if nothing had happened
The presentation was as boring as all mission briefings are, with the only interesting part coming up when the teacher, Present Mic, started talking about what the exam was.
Robots.
The exam was to fight robots.
And not the kind he was familiar with, no robots held no resemblances to the Mechas race from Earthland.
He sighed, dropping his head into his palm.
Of course, it had to be robots, the one thing his Magic was the most effective against. He perked up. Unless they made the robots waterproof!
...he sunk down again, even if they were water-proof his magic was so powerful he could just blast them apart with heer strength, let alone condense the water into sharp blades and points that could puncture their metals, or even use the other aspects of his magic, like condensing the pressure of the air around the robot and crushing it or even just wrapping them in balls of water and crushing them immediately…
Dammit, he knew the exam wouldn't be difficult ut… well he was expecting something better.
...fucking robots…
'Haa, and they didn't even make getting points that hard, you don't have to do any work, if you wanted to you could just run around and steal other peoples kills, plus they put fucking switches on the machines to turn them off! If you had told Erza that the only way she can get points is to flip a switch she'd beat the shit out of you and then beat the shit out of the robot!' He sighed tiredly 'I know this exam is for kids but if they can't find a way to improvise when the world is against them then they'll die out in the field, not every villain will have a surefire kill switch attached to them after all'
Vali cut his thoughts out as the explanation finished, he'd even ignored the annoying little shit who thought the school owed him a complete analysis of his exam as if it wasn't made to replicate a real villain fight - seriously if that kid passes he'll throw a fit
Heading back along the corridors he waited at the stop for Battle Ground E. Unlike the other students he didn't need to get changed, having come in his workout clothes since he didn't exactly have a school uniform. As such he simply waited for the small bus thing to arrive. Eventually, other students trickled in, everyone focused on the coming fight.
Meanwhile, Vali started stretching his body, overlooking the crowd for either Ashido or Kirishima and sadly coming across neither of them. The wait was long, as thousands of students had to each get dressed and then make it to their respective battleground and even once it felt like everyone had arrived, what with nearly 30 minutes passing by, it still took time for the exam to begin.
Vali could guess why psychological warfare was a powerful thing and by making the students wait-
He leapt forwards, rushing the gate as it broke open by the smallest crack. Immediately his eyes took in his surrounding, the world slowing as Vali Mizushima, musician and laid-back dude vanished, replaced by Valentine Mizushima, the War Veteran and strongest man on Earthland.
He flung his hand to the side of his body, disks of spinning water flying forwards and taking out four robots, he didn't count their points, moving on to his next target as he did. The robots around him were many, a brief scan put the count up to nearly fifteen. They took different shapes, the most common being the one he recognised to only give a single point with a few two-pointers and only a couple of three-pointers.
The robots vanished, blown to smithereens as a geyser of pitch-black water shot them into the sky, the boiling, acidic water not only decaying the metal but melting it as well.
He took a step forwards, feeling the magic that circled his veins shoot to his feet, a blast of water launching him in the air so he could get a nice, bird's eye view of the arena. From his position, held suspended in the air by a platform of water he could see dozens- no, hundreds of robots on the ground and where he had already amassed points, he could only just see people entering the gates now-
"WHAT'S THE MATTER?" He heard the Heroes voice echo throughout the city, he cast his eyes back towards the main campus, where he guessed the teachers to be watching "THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A COUNTDOWN IN A REAL BATTLE! YOU BETTER GET RUNNING NOW IF YOU WANT TO GET ANY POINTS!"
Vali smirked at the words, letting the platform below him dissipate casting him back to the earth like the sun cast down Icarus. Though, unlike the greek legend, Vali landed on the earth safely. His landing was precise, accurate as he brought himself to the centre of the area, what he could only guess to be a city park, said park was swarmed with robots, mostly the larger ones, the strongest mobs in the area
The centre of the city was a minefield of 3 Pointers
And Vali had, in a single move, destroyed most - if not all - of them. His landing was the cause and the effect was a massive tsunami, ebony water crashed out from under his fist, sweeping the robots away and drowning them under the waves. The rapid waters ripping them apart and throwing them into one another
Vali stood up straight, casting a glance at the camera 'hidden' in one of the many trees around.
He tilted his head, allowing a rubber bullet to fly past him. He twisted in an instant, leg sweeping around in a kick, the same violent water that had just torn dozens of robots to pieces wrapped around the muscular limb like a knights metal grieve. The appendage tore through the front of the robot, and as his body finished moving around a thin blade of water slashed through the robot, taking its upper body clean from its waist.
'63 points and only 3 minutes have gone by… I've gotten sloppy.'
He didn't know if that was entirely true but it definitely felt like he'd gotten sloppy, maybe being back in his 15-year-old body did have some unforeseen consequences. His reaction time, while better than it originally was at that age - He backhanded another bullet, twisting out of the way of another couple before releasing his own counter-attack, a flurry of watery spears piercing through the robots, destroying them in an instant - was nowhere close to what it had been at his peak
His reaction time was so precise people believed he used to have some Psychic based magic that let him see the future.
"Hey, leave some bots for the rest of us man- Woah" He turned, eyes blazing as he took out the robot behind the student idiotic enough to start complaining.
"Focus on yourself, if this were a real fight you and the people you were protecting would've just died." He didn't care for how harsh his words were, instead twisting to where he could feel more robots.
This was the secret to his reaction time, something he'd have to hone more preciously in the coming years. The world was filled with water, every little thing possessed it and in his youth, he'd attempted to eat the very water molecules that populated the environment. Sadly, no matter how hard he tried, it just didn't prove possible and if it did, the boost it gave him was so minuscule he didn't even notice he'd got one.
However, he did learn something in his years trying to perfect his 'Molecule Eating'. As he said the world - he blasted away a trio of three-pointers, ignoring the thanks he received from his fellow candidate who was slowly being overwhelmed - is full of water molecules, the air itself is so full of them it was insane nevermind everything else that his element inhabits.
Now his first step to Molecule Eating was making himself aware of all the water around him, it was simple and easy in theory, he could sense most bodies of water everywhere he went. Even now he could feel the water rushing through the pipes that lay deep beneath the earth, giving this fake city and all those nearby plumming. Anyways, it was simple in theory but Vali was training himself to sense the very molecules in the air. The technique took him over two years to fully learn and the only reason he even learned it was because he was training with Aris - the Goddess of Calmness - at the time.
It took so long to simply get to that stage but the effort was worth it as with this new ability came a thousand new applications, specifically the ability to sense where things were through the water molecules.
Now did he really need another sensing ability? No, his magic sensing was already overpowered however this ability was also extremely useful, it's the ability that let him rip the head off of that annoying prick Jason Lessio.
Heh, the prick thought himself invincible with that Stealth Magic of his, so cocky, so happy with his ability to inflict pain on others but when he turned that table- Oh, he savoured the man begging face as he pleaded Vali to stop, to not drain the water from his body and blood.
Heh…
He crushed another robot underfoot, the wide sadistic grin on his face coming across more demonic and evil to those who saw rising pop star Valentine Mizushima casually crush a robot most of them could barely dent.
Vali forced his smile away, unleashing a stream of water at another two-pointer, blasting a hole through the being with ease, he continued the stream though, whipping the water through another two one-pointers. He crushed his hand into a fist, the water he commands imploding as he did, sending a flurry of scrap flying around. Luckily Vali had the foresight and experience to set up a barrier before causing the explosion, catching the scrap before it hurt anyone.
What was he saying again? Oh yeah, his water sensing wasn't as useful as he wanted at first because his Magic sensing was already OP, however his father figure and technical Newphew Pius - God of War and Chief of the 18 Battle Gods - convinced him of its utility. So he spent the next year training it up to an acceptable level, using his sensing to his advantage.
Now that he's in this new world, where nobody has Magic for him to sense, he's immensely grateful to Lord Pius that he made him learn the Water Sensing ability just in case.
Vali sighed, watching as an onslaught of other candidates flooded the area. His hunting ground was now cramped and even if it wasn't the current 'prey' weren't really worth that much for him to stay. So he left, simple as that he started moving through the streets of the city, using his Magic to boost his speed and slaughtering any robots that crossed his path
Eventually, once he was separate from the other candidates he once again took to the skies, using his favourite geysers to launch him upwards. Once again in a birds-eye view, he looked over the area. The people he was gathered with numbered in the hundreds but barely anyone had gotten further than the city centre. Nobody dared venture too far into the city and stood close to at least 3 people, either people they knew or those who looked to be in the same strength bracket as themselves.
An effective tactic, it meant they couldn't steal each other kills ut if push came to shove they'd team up. Only a few people had gone off on their own with Vali being one of them.
He sighed as he looked down though, inevitably deciding to dump himself in a further area in the city than the entrance. There weren't that many 3 pointers around, from the dozen or so he'd killed upon landing only one of them had been a three-pointer with the other nine being 1-pointers. He hummed at that.
'They must've loaded the centre with three-pointers since everyone would gather there, they made it so the highest scoring robots would become sparse since so many people were fighting them, leaving the outskirts with only single and double point robots.' He smirked, blasting the head off of a single-pointer
'However they also made it super easy for people like me to get points, all it took was 10 Three-Pointers to give me 30 points and I destroyed more than that. They didn't think a student could get there as fast as I did so instead of all the Three-Pointers being spread through the different candidates, they all lay clogged together at the feet of a single person who destroyed them all with ease.' He'd give the person who designed the test props, they knew how to manipulate the environment however they didn't account for anomalies
Normally candidates would be forced to fight dozens of single pointers just to get through the entrance and the first few streets, that way it gave the robots time to move around as well as tired out the candidates. It also divided them into different quarters, spreading out a hundred candidates per block. Vali destroyed the first group of robots and did so the moment the doors to the city opened, meaning the robots didn't get that time to move around
Then he took to the skies and landed in the highest scoring part of the entire test site, giving him access to dozens of free points while his fellow candidates took out the scraps from the entrance.
Since the entrance wasn't swarmed the candidates didn't have to split into different sections since they weren't pushed there by the robots. This meant that, with the exception of a few, everyone ploughed straight through the middle creating a shortage of Single-pointers.
Because of Vali's actions he effectively made people panic buy Single-pointers, nobody wanted to venture forwards in case more single pointers came forwards. During all of this time Vali was enjoying himself in the City Centre, taking out dozens of Triple and Double-pointers, the people who split off from the group also would've started meeting a lot of double-point robots and with nobody there to fight for points. This means a dozen or so people got free reign of an area that was supposed to have hundreds of people fighting in.
Of course, when people reached the centre, Vali had more or less wiped out the higher scoring robots, leaving just the vestiges for the other candidates. Most of the people in that area probably didn't even see a single triple-Pointer.
And now, after all the chaos he'd created, Vali fled to a new area, untouched by anyone else filled with single and double-pointers.
If he had any worries about not having the most points beforehand, he definitely didn't now. He'd scored over a hundred and twenty points and there was barely 3 minutes left.
That's when it happened.
It took Vali a second to realise what was going on but he clicked on it within seconds. As soon as the ground started shaking and the buildings started moving he realised something important.
He'd never seen a single Nil-Point robot, and what was an exam without both a last-minute twist and a big bad guy.
In his S-Class trial, the big bad guy was Gildarts, nobody wanted to fight him and yet he had and came away victorious even if he didn't win the fight. The twist was that not everyone got the ability to move onto the second round. In fact, nobody but he did. Still, it was exactly what an exam was supposed to have.
It had the one thing nobody wanted to face, and a situation where you were forced to face it.
He applauded, smiling as he shot himself into the sky once again.
Did Vali have to fight the colossal robot? No
Was he going to anyways? Yes
Mainly because he had enough points to simply not care and also because he was hoping it would be the one thing in the area to actually put up a semblance of a fight. That's not the main reason though. It's also the main reason he's flying over as fast as he is.
With a robot that size it can't control the damage, it does to the environment, meaning anyone in that area is probably being crushed by either the robot or the rubble and it's a heroes duty to save people. Even without the chance to fight the robot, he'd have rushed to the place it spawned anyways.
He fought a lot of giant monsters and the worst thing to find are the casualties. Beings of that size don't care for what they stand on, for them people are ants and their houses are lego bricks and he'd seen enough people crushed underfoot because of a giants clumsiness.
He knew that the casualties would be high, even miles away a person could feel a Giants footsteps, so having a robot that big just appear was dangerous.
He landed on the ground with a thud. Eyes moving around the area with practised ease. He pulled on his magic, near-infinite reserves dipping a minuscule amount as Vali summoned a flood. The water carried away loose pieces of rubble, moving small stones, large rocks, rubble from buildings and the steel used to make the robots
"OI!" He shouted at one of his fellow candidates, who look at him like was crazy "Grab some of the other guys and search for anyone caught under the rubble, I'll distract the big guy!"
He didn't wait for a reply, though he did hear a mumble of agreement from the short, silver aired chubby kid.
No, instead Vali was once again flying through the sky, using his geysers to boost himself up and then running atop plates of water which appear and disappeared in small explosions of mist. He mentally counted down the time. It had taken him over a minute to arrive at the location of the root and an extra ten seconds to give the orders to form a rescue team meaning he had just under 2 minutes to beat the big bad guy.
'Hey, easy enough'
"OI! FATASS!" He screamed out to the robot, which actually turned its head to face him "YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY DON'T YOU! THE BIGGER YOU ARE THE HARDER YOU FALL? YEAH, I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU FALL, BUDDY!"
He raised his hands to the sky, ignoring the dark clouds that started rolling in above him as a large glob of water started forming above his head. He ticked down the second '1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8.. 9... And… 10!'
He shaped the glob of water, now larger than a three-bedroom house, into the most iconic shape a water user could make as above his head a large, pitch-black trident formed. Vali raised his hand to the robot, whose arms were moving to either swat him from the sky or to launch a flurry of rubber missiles at him. Once his hand was level with his eyes he curled his fingers, leaving only his index and middle finger out and as the moments passed he bided his time
Just as it seemed he wasn't going to move the thrust his hand down and from the heavens, as if sent by Zeus himself, the trident pierced the skull of the robot, shooting through the skull, through the chest and straight out of its groin and just as it seemed to finish, Vali clenched his fingers together, tightening his hand into a fist and the water reacted.
The trident, which had just ripped the giant robot in had exploded into a thousand spears which flew towards the robot, ripping it apart like a giant tornado of blades and when he relaxed his hands all that was left of the giant monster was a fine mist and a few loose screws that had somehow survived the onslaught Vali had let loose on the monster.
Vali sighed as he lowered himself to the ground, slowly lowering the platform this time, instead of pulling off the classic superhero landing/super smash he'd been using for the past 9 minutes. Once he was on the ground he met up with the small group of people moving around the rubble, those few students being the only ones not gaping at him in shock and - in a few cases - fear.
He was used to that reaction though, his skills had improved to a deadly capacity and he'd his magic for less than savoury purposes a few times. The chances are that he has more blood on his hands than most villains in this world. He was known as the 'War Ender' after all, and he didn't get that title by simply being a God Slayer.
"Is there anywhere you haven't searched yet?" He called out to one of the people helping, the same guy he'd commanded originally.
"Ah, yes. The Northern side of the city doesn't have anyone searching right now" The boy barely turned his head to answer, simply continuing to help another candidate stand up.
"I see, I'll head there now, just get everyone here back to the entrance. I'm sure recovery girls is already starting her rounds with the Medic Bots" The shooter kid nodded his head, probably already thinking the same thing as Vali but just wanting to have someone else confirm his words.
For himself, Vali hummed as he moved through the streets. In his past life, he didn't bother learning that many recovery skills. You didn't have to when even the smallest of hamlets had a local healer of dome kind - doubly so when your guild has arguable the second-best healer the world could ever have on hand.
However in this world knowing first aid would be detrimental, the ability to keep a person alive long enough for a paramedic to arrive is invaluable and was a large part o the reason Recovery Girl was so famous.
Typically people with healing quirks got a quirk license and then went off to work in hospitals but she broke that rhythm and become what was effectively the worlds first Healing Hero, using physical combat to fight villains and then heal anyone in her surroundings.
He hummed again, idly moving some rocks off of a girl who had been trapped beneath the rubble, when he gets accepted into UA he'll have to see if the woman can give him some lessons if she doesn't already do that anyway.
Sighing he dismissed those thoughts for later, he had to focus right now. While no one was severely injured it didn't mean he should slack off, after all, if he were to treat this as a real combat situation then these peoples injuries could've been a lot worse. There would be burns, broken limbs, torn muscles, ripped flesh, someone may have lost a limb or to depending on where they stood, the plumbing could've exploded which would've started a flood of some kind, if the streets had any cars they'd have went flying or been crushed under the rubble, some may have exploded killing or injuring people inside of them- the real dangerous were worse than this simulation could ever create
That's probably why he can't bring himself to be completely serious about it too be honest, he was used to seeing the worse injuries a person could get in a real combat zone, not some childrens game with a dozen and more safety precautions.
Eventually, however the exam ended, there wasn't that much time left when he'd destroyed the nil-robot anyways so he didn't have much time to look around before a swarm of small robots with what he could guess to be sensing equipment attached to them broke loose in the streets.
He continued to help out even though the robots didn't need it, he didn't exactly have a curfew and it was better to give help where it isn't needed than to not help where it may need be.
Something like that anyway, that's what Sherria used to say to him whenever the two teamed up on inter-guild missions.
It took nearly 20 minutes for Recovery Girl to finally arrive at his area and the woman was quick to dismiss him, which he did so with only a small bit of complaint. Heading back through the building was awkward as he had to take the small bus shuttle back by himself- the teacher who drove the thing wasn't too happy but Vali didn't really care for his opinion, clearly, he'd retired to being a teacher before he could get any true real-world experience.
Sadly it seemed as if Kirishima and Ashido had left before he'd arrived back at the campus and as sad as it was that his first real acquaintances in this world - outside of All Might, Gran Torino and the managing squad he worked with - had left him behind he also understood why they'd done it, they did live like, two prefectures away and there'd be no point waiting for some guy you've only just met.
Famous he may be or not
That said Kirishima did slip a note into his locker with their phone numbers on it which was nice of him, though he had a feeling it was Aashido who'd made the Blackett do it.
He chuckled into his hoodie, silently adding the two to his phone and sending them both a brief message letting them know who the number belonged to before he disappeared from the school. It would take a few weeks for the results to arrive and he was gonna be bored as hell waiting for them to show up.

Yo! Hey guys, long time no see huh
Right so, if you've come from my Fairy Tail fanfiction then you probably know I haven't posted in like, two months and the reason for that... well I wont lie, I've had a serious case of writer block regarding that story for a while now. I just restarted college in September and we've been doing assignment after assignment and it's been killing me, whenever I try to write the next chapter for The Slayer of Gods I end up just sitting at my computer for hours doing nothing and whatever I write just isn't flowing nicely so I've been putting it off for a while. As y'all know I'm part of a discord server and the guys in there recommended I try to write something different with Vali as the main character as a kind of spin-off series or something, I still really love Vali's character and I've been excited to write him but the FT world itself just isn't taking my interest as of right now, so I decided to say fuck it and write something else
And Voila! This is the story of how Vali just got randomly dumped in My Hero Academia. Now, you've probably noticed that I've mentioned a lot of things that just haven't happened yet in The Slayer of Gods and that's because this is set after the series ends, now none of the things I reference here is confirmed things that will happen but things that have just been floating in my head about Vali's future, so while I will say that this series is a potential spoiler fest for The Slayer of Gods,m not everything is gonna be accurate to the real story.
Now, for y'all who decided to click on this story and haven't read my other work, as you may have guessed my OC, Vali, is actually from a different story of mine, It's not really that big of a thing since even the people who read Vali's actual; story don't know half the things I'm referencing, but It'd probably be best if y'all read it just in case, otherwise, your gonna be confused about what the hell is going on.
Other than that I hope y'all enjoy this weird spin-off.
And yes I know I put up a vote asking if Vali should go to other words and y'all said no but honestly I just don't give a fuck anymore, I'll write Vali, however, the fuck I want to write him in whatever world I want to write him. Y'all don't like that then don't read it, this story most likely won't affect Slayer of Gods anyways, there may be a few references but honestly, I doubt it.
Now, see ya!
Khaos
P.S. I only just remembered this but a while ago some guy - sorry I forgot your name - asked me to write an MHA fic where the main character was basically a Fishman from One Piece who could use Fishman Karate. I'll be honest I both completely forgot about that. I'll also be honest in saying that this is probably the closest I'll be to ever fully writing that fic, me and My Hero just don't get along well, any fic I've written in MHA has been cancelled near the start because I just can't find a groove with either the character or the story, hell I'm half expecting to stop this one at some point even though I'm just writing this because I'm struggling to write anything else. So yeah, sorry about that...
