Vali knew today was gonna be an annoying day from the moment he woke up. There was something in the air that warned him and even before he left the house the world had decided to warn him in the most literal sense that today was not gonna be fun for Valentine Mizushima.
It started with a series of bad luck. He'd fallen out of bed to start the day and it was only thanks to decades of waking up on time that he was awake in time to get his breakfast and catch the train since his phone was dead. After that, he found out that their toaster had broken so he couldn't have some toast with his scrambled eggs.
Of course, the world didn't let it end there and He'd only just made it onto the train before it pulled away. It was one of those rare times he had to use his fame to his advantage. If he hadn't he'd have missed the train and have to be late for school.
Of course, going to school was equally difficult since-
"Excuse me, what can you… tell… me" the reporter who'd thrust a microphone into his face trailed off, eyes widening as she took in his features.
Yup, the only entrance to school had been swarmed with reporters.
Sadly they'd been grabbing a hold of everyone they could to get an interview about All Might. And now they'd just found Valentine Mizushima, who's arguably the most difficult to get a hold of celebrity in Japan.
"Y-You're Valentine Mizushima." Her voice was loud and Vali could see yen signs appear in her eyes, sadly she spoke too loudly. Vali closed his eyes, not wanting to deal with this today but if he could take All the reporters attention from his classmates onto himself then He'd resign himself to that fate
"Valentine Mizushima?"
"Did somebody say-"
"Mizushima's here-"
"Quick. We need an interview-"
"No way we were here first-"
"VALI-"
"MIZUSHIMA, A WORD-!?"
"MIZUSHIMA?"
"VALENTINE-"
He sighed as he was swarmed, from the centre of the storm he could see Midoriya and Uraraka stare hin with wide eyes, he gave them a small nod with a tight smile. The two returned the smile with looks one would give a soldier about to sacrifice himself before running inside the gates.
"Calm down, calm down. One at a time." He spoke, and despite the shouting, everyone fell into a hush
"Now then." He sighed, putting his brightest, most media-friendly smile in and hoping his charisma doesn't fail him "Ask away."
"Is it true All Might is here teaching at UA?" Someone asked and luckily everyone seemed to fall into professionalism
"Yes it's true, he's here to ensure the future heroes become as good if not better than himself."
"What's his teaching like? Is he as good a teacher as he is a hero?"
"So far we've only had one lesson with him, however, he's a very practical teacher and is helping us understand and explore the different aspects of heroism, teaching us everything he knows in hopes of making us into true heroes." He answered, lying through his teeth
"What's it like having the Symbol of Peace teaching before you?"
"As I Said before, All Might is a very practical teacher so instead of giving lectures he walks us through events and helps us analyse the best scenarios to save people. It's an amazing learning experience for everyone here at UA, I'm sure." He answered.
"Is it difficult balancing your Hero education with your music career?" Oh, questions about him now.
"No, not really. The workload at UA is hefty but I'm dedicated to both being a hero and a performer. In fact, I have a new EP coming out tomorrow night called Heaven's Bells, so make sure to check it out when it's released." He answered, giving away information he was originally gonna release on Twitter a couple of minutes before the EP was released
"What can we expect from this EP?" He hummed, eyes catching movement behind the gate.
"Well, since it's only an EP there's only 5 tracks but I'm pretty happy with how they all turned out." He answered, not giving an actual answer to the question.
"Do you have a favourite track?"
"Oh definitely, Everybody Talks is definitely my favourite, though I Knew You Were Trouble is a close second." He answered, naming the two songs.
"Anything you can tell us about these songs?"
"Hah, well I Knew You Were Trouble is a song that I wrote because of a failed attempt at a relationship I had a few years ago but you'll just have to wait for the track to drop to get any more details about it." Not the whole truth but close enough. He couldn't exactly say he originally rewrote this sing because of a one night hook up he had in a different world.
"Who or what inspired you to do music?" Huh, he hadn't been asked that one yet. Took them long enough.
"An old friend of mine actually, her name was Levy. She'd overheard me singing to myself one day and told me to pursue music, I'd already written down a lot of songs in my free time as a kid but she's definitely the reason I'm doing this now."
"If Levy were watching this right now, what words would you like to tell her?" He chuckled a sad laugh that probably reflected in his face of the cold looks shit to the reporter who asked meant anything.
"Sadly Levy has long since passed on but if she were still here today I'd just want to thank her, that and ask if she had any book recommendations." He chuckled.
Levy wasn't dead but she and everyone else might as well be. He was an entire world away with no way back. They probably assumed something had happened in Heaven and had prepared and finished his funeral. Just the thought of his friends gathering around his grave and mourning him brought a tear to his eye.
This must've been how Lisanna felt after being trapped in Edolas huh.
"I see, I'm sorry to bring it back up." The reporter replied as sincerely as a guy who'd still use this footage could
"Do you sing in the shower?" He laughed at the question, forgetting the previous question and instead focusing on the new one all while sending Aizawa looks every few questions to see when he could finally leave.
Finally, after a couple dozen more questions the man gave him a single nod. Telling him it was time to wrap up.
"All right, as fun as this has been I've got to get to classes." He smiled, and pushed his way out of the crowd, ignoring the flashing lights and shouting questions as he did. Eventually, he passed through the border and-
*Bang*
A metal gate fell, separating the reporters from the school and effectively locking them out.
"I take it everyone got into the school fine?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. He wondered how the man would react to him after yesterday's conversation with Nezu.
He didn't receive an answer and after a moment of too much silence, he turned to the man with a scowl. If he wanted to be childish then He'd indulge him-
"I talked with Principle Nezu yesterday." Oh, he speaks. Finally. He rolled his eyes, he could tell as much from the moment they'd locked eyes, that Nezu had talked to him about his concerns.
"And?" He ignored the annoyed look he received before the man sighed
"Approaching the Principle with your concerns was a logical step to take, however, if you have issues with my teaching style then bring it up to me personally so I can explain my actions or evaluate your opinion. As a teacher, my strategy is to make everyone experience the worst aspects of hero life in preparation for the real thing. Expulsion is the easiest way to simulate a person's death in the industry." Aizawa's bland voice states and Vali took a moment to process them, a small smile crossing his face as he did.
Ahh, he understands this man now.
He's like a less wrinkly version of Porlyusica.
"I see. Very well then, I seem to have underestimated you." He smiled "You do actually care about your students that much is obvious now, it doesn't excuse your actions on the first day, threatening a single student with expulsion because he doesn't meet your standard isn't fair, but it does make sense to me."
The teacher raised his eyebrow, an apathetic look still on his face despite it. He snorted.
"Don't give me that look, it was obvious you were aiming all your intent at Midoriya. It was only after his Softball through that you decided to not go through with the expulsion after all." He turned back to face the corridor. They'd made it up to the door of their classroom by now.
"Thank you," He said, before entering the room. "For explaining your teaching style."
-/-
Vali entered the room a few minutes before Aizawa did, giving the appearance that the two had split off at some point after entering the building and not walking to the class together discussing the reasoning behind Aizawa teaching style.
Honestly, he was kinda glad to have the conversation, it had let him get an insight on the man and made sure his own opinions weren't the incorrect ones.
"Right, now let's get on with the notices." The man spoke after giving a small chat to Bakugou and Midoriya, something that the rest of the class had experienced yesterday under All Might before he ran away
"I'm sorry to have to suddenly spring this on you all but we need to pick a Class President." Vali raised an eyebrow.
The fuck is a Class President?
'Must be a Japanese thing' He thought to himself, humming as the class exploded around him 'We didn't have these in England, did we? What does being Class President even mean? What do they do?'
"QUIET!" It was Iida who raised his voice, Slamming his hands on his desk. "This is a task laden with responsibility where you must carry and pull everyone else's weight! Just because you like it doesn't mean you can!"
He raised his eyebrow at the kid's intensity but he should've expected it, as annoying as the guy was proving himself to be he respected his wish for authority and rules.
Kinda.
His whole existence kinda violated authority and rules.
"It is a holy office that requires great esteem and trust of those around you." The boy continued intensely "The only truly worthy leader will emerge from a democratic choice reflecting the will of the people! Which is why this must be settled with a Vote!"
The class murmured their agreements and disagreements with Iida's proposal, some saying it's too soon for each other to truly have trust in anyone else and how everyone's just gonna vote for themselves.
Vali already knew who he was gonna vote for. There was only one person for the job.
Slowly they finally came to a decision, a box was placed on Aizawa's desk alongside a stack of paper and a pen. Vali sighed as he stared at the small paper, before writing down his candidate and throwing the paper into the box
"Alright, is everyone's vote in?" He asked the class, Standing behind the box since their homeroom teacher was fast asleep.
He received a round of yesses from everyone, and slowly he started pulling names from the box until finally-
"...how the hell did this happen?" He questioned his Vice President. Yaoyorozu and Midoriya ended up tying for second place but Midoriya stepped down from the next ballot and let Yaoyorozu take the role of VP
"I believe you made an impact on everyone umpiring yesterday's combat trial Vali." Yeah, he thought that too, especially since He'd somehow come out with 5 votes.
He'd thrown his own vote at Yaoyorozu and from the 8 names on the board, only 5 of them were close enough to him to vote for him despite their wants. It warmed his heart, it also pissed him off because he has no clue what he's doing
"What does the Class President even do anyway?" He whispered to his new VP, who gave him a confused look in response. "What? I've been homeschooled since I was a kid, I don't know what I'm doing."
Iida finished having his breakdown as they talked. Apparently, the role of a Class President and their Vice President was basically to just be nice students or something. They'd be asked to help the teachers with some things but their main duty was to look after their classmates and make sure they're all fine and dandy.
He could do that.
'It also means I can analyse their quirks without looking really weird.' He smirked 'Score!'
-/-
"So, how does it feel to be Class President, Pres." He rolled his eyes at Jirous jab. Their lessons had moved in smoothly throughout the day as they usually did, the only hiccups along the way being when his classmates didn't know the answers to some questions but it was all easily smoothed over and dealt with
Now he was sitting at lunch with his Vice President and the 5 people who voted him into office.
"It'd be better if I actually knew what he was doing, I still can't believe you guys voted for me." He sighed into his panini, the luscious cafeteria food bringing him back to life.
Honestly, it's a shame the cafeteria was closed by the time school ended, otherwise He'd just buy his dinner from Lunch Rush instead of ordering in with Gran Torino.
Is it possible to be sick of pizza? Because after a year of basically nothing but it, he's starting to get bored
"Eh, you deserve it, bro! I believe in you!" He smiled at Kirishima's declaration.
"Yeah, you were super cool during the battle trial yesterday. We barely had to do anything with your plan, and the analysis you gave was cool." The newest member to their group was Sero, who'd been his surprise voter basically.
He didn't think the guy would vote for him after one lesson together
"Yeah!" Ashido chimed in, not giving a specific reason but agreeing with somebody nevertheless. Kaminari, who was silent since he was eating, also sent him a thumbs-up, in agreement with someone.
"So, who'd you vote for, Pres?" He sighed at the title, Ashido had been the one to ask him this and he was gonna have a fit if this title caught on.
"Yaoyorozu." He said casually, ignoring the look he received from said girl as he bit into his panini.
"Me? Why?" He raised an eyebrow, a smile on his face that screamed 'I-know-something-you-don't'
"Well, your analysis yesterday was amazing and I shared a lot of your own thoughts, plus in the two days we've been here you've already proved yourself as one of the best students in class and you're friendly enough that it'd be easy to talk to you or whatever." He paused, shrugging his shoulders. "It just made sense to me."
Plus, she reminds him of Wendy in a way.
"Anyways, Midnight's lesson wasn't interesting, wasn't it Kaminari." He smirked as the bit choked on his food. The seductive teacher had called the boy out for not paying attention during the lesson, and everyone saw the boy's eyes jerk upwards to the teacher's face when he did.
"Wha-Hey!" He chuckled-
"SECURITY LEVEL 3 HAS BEEN BROKEN. ALL STUDENTS PLEASE EVACUATE IN AN ORDERLY FASHION!"
The moment the first siren blew he threw a bubble of water at Jiro's head. The girl flinched at both the 'attack' and from the noise but with the water covering her hair it dulled the booming voice as it informed them of something.
Vali's mind raced for knowledge and found it imminently, the third barrier to the school was the one that led into the building. Something had gotten past the first two gates and pressed into the school.
He stood up, with the rest of the table and chaos exploded around them. Students from all courses in all years started rushing through the cafeteria to reach the exit, creating a blockade as people pushed through somewhere with no one getting to the area they were rushing too
He cursed.
"Stay here, get on the table if you have to!" He commanded the table, who nodded on sheer instinct.
Vali, pushed into the crowd, flinching as he heard people yelping in pain.
Fuck he has to do something, Gods He didn't want to do this-
A blast of water sent him into the air, the people standing around him flinching at the sudden quirk usage. He moulded the water into a platform as he looked down over the stampeding crowd.
Ugh, they were shouting too loud for him to usually shout which mean-
"EVERYBODY SHUT UP AND STANDSTILL." His voice boomed, eyes glowing sea green as he did so. Luckily his booming command was heading instantly, the voice of an Emperor freezing then all still. "STOP ACTING LIKE CHILDREN AND CALM YOURSELF. THE STAFF ARE TAKING CARE OF ANY INTRUDERS AS WE SPEAK, ALL YOUR DOING IS INJURING YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS. NOW, WALK CALM IN SINGLE FILE OUT THE DOORS BEFORE YOU INURE ANYONE ELSE."
He stayed in the sky, watching as the people reacted to his voice. He hated doing that but it was needed sometimes.
This little quirk of his was a thing He'd found Awakening could do. Focusing the power of a War God into his voice allowed him to Bellow like the Gods themselves could, it wasn't useful really but when he needed to command armies it came in handy.
He sighed as the students slowly started dispersing through the corridors at a more sedated pace, only lowering himself when only the last dregs of people started moving out of the room. Back on the ground, he joined up with the people who he'd sat at lunch with, the group waiting for him with smug smiles and, from one of them, an annoyed glare
Yeah, it's lucky he had so much experience throwing around his water bubbles because if he hadn't then Jirou would've drowned.
Good thing he had made the bubble just a layer of water so she could still breathe, even if she couldn't hear or talk to anyone on the table because of it.
He dismissed the water with a snap of his fingers, the water fizzing out of existence and returning to the atmosphere.
Heh, he loves doing that. It looks so much cooler than the water just disappearing like the magical construct it is.
"Jeez, Pres. We've only known each other for two days and you keep making me wet." He barked a laugh at Jirous' comment, much to the shock of the group who reacted violently at the words, taken aback by the statement.

Their afternoon session started with only a small delay thanks to the break-in. As Vali and Momo had been informed, the actual cause of the break-in wasn't a villain attempting to attack UA but the reporters had somehow gotten through the first two gates. They hadn't been told how they got through the gates, but it only took a single glance outside the window to see the half-decayed metal gate that protected their school.
As it was now his duty as class president, Vali had started off their afternoon homeroom session by explaining the situation before returning to his chair and waiting for Aizawa to start whatever thing he wanted to talk about now.
"Alright now that that's over, I've got some more news to give you all." The class tensed once again as they'd done this morning and just like this morning, they deflated at the man's next words.
"As it is, you students are expected to join one of the many clubs UA offers at some point this week so after school, today hang back for an hour and have a look around, the clubs are putting on little performances to get people to join." The rest of his class either groaned in annoyance or looked on in interest.
He had known about club activities from his time watching anime in his first life, he just hadn't expected UA of all places to have them because of its status as a hero school, then again, UA is an actual school so he shouldn't be so surprised.
He steeled himself to look around with some of his classmates. There are only three clubs He'd join in the school.
"Right, class is about to begin. Seraphina should be here soon to give you a lesson." The teacher informed them. He hummed, all the same, he didn't recognise this hero name at all but that's fine, he didn't recognise a lot of hero names outside of the top 10 and those heroes who caught his attention in some way or another.
Thirteen was interesting because of her quirk, he wants to study It and experiment so badly. Present Mic was interesting because of his radio show, he was one of the first people to use his magic on the radio. Midnight was someone He'd known about before going to school because, yeah.
Eraserhead however? No clue. Same with Powerloader, Cementos, Snipe and Ectoplasm.
He knew about Vlad King if only because he wanted to see how proficient the man was with Blood Manipulation.
He was good, worse than Sagemath but he was a God so that doesn't count, nor does the God Slayer He'd created to kill him and the other War Gods.
Ugh, just the thought of that little shit makes him want to kill them again.
Line Break
The day after the reporter incident started with a bad headache and a horrible taste in his mouth. The afternoon of their classes yesterday went by without a hitch, with the small exception of people asking what had happened and why the gate was so destroyed everything had been fine for their last lesson in heroic study.
However, Vali couldn't help but have a nagging feeling at the back of his head.
This was something that had never happened before at UA. Sure reporters had tried to get in but the barrier always stopped them, they wouldn't risk destroying the gate or even entering it without some sort of coercion. None of them wanted to risk going up against UA in court, especially for something too blatant as trespassing and destroying private property.
It was something that had kept his mind busy all afternoon and night. The reporters had no reason to destroy the gate other than to get an interview with All Might and the last time they'd done something like this they just stayed outside all day until the man had left, which he'd done in his Small Might form to dodge them.
So why did they break in?
That's when it hit him. The reporters didn't break-in. Someone else did.
It was most likely a Villain and it was easy to guess why they'd done so. They're after the same thing, the same person the reporters are. So they'd broken in, destroyed the gate with their quirk and snuck into the school, except the teachers hadn't seen anyone suspicious in the school when Aizawa and Nezu went to deal with the reporters and All Might hadn't been in any fights with anyone so they'd clearly broken in to see the man but they hadn't done anything?
No, that doesn't make sense.
The school hadn't reported anything missing to his knowledge, which isn't a lot admittedly, but it didn't seem like someone had broken in to fight anyone, instead, it just looked like the reporters had destroyed the gate and that was the end of it.
Vali isn't convinced and if the teachers are smart, they shouldn't be either.
So when he woke up this morning, a sour taste in his mouth and headache pounding his brain open, Vali just knew something was up.
Now, he isn't a psychic or anything and he's never had a prophetic dream in his life but his body had gotten used to knowing when ganger is approaching, like how an old farmer knows when a storm is Brewing. He'd been in so much danger and in so many fights that his body just slowly seemed to gain this sixth sense of when things were going to go horribly wrong.
And so far his bad feeling was proving himself right-
"-And there you have it folk, All Might's third takedown this morning-"
"'Sorry for this but I'm going to be late'" The man, his uncle, said to the crowd before disappearing in an exploding leap. The cameraman stumbled back at the wind pressure but followed the man with his camera.
He wanted to facepalm. He'd just been on his phone when He'd seen the news report that All Might had appeared in three different parts of the city today, taking down villains and reducing families. He's a hero, he gets that, but the man already has a time limit and he'd been running around in his Buff Might form for the last hour and a half-
*ting*
He ignored the notification, just knowing what It's going to say.
The man has no sense of self-control. Sure what he's doing is admirable but he's pushing himself so far and so hard in a city where the criminals aren't even that bad, Mustuafu was basically the starting city for any wannabe villain, not only was UA, the biggest convergence of Heroes in Japan, in the city but there was also more than two dozen agencies in any given area.
So while All Mights help and actions are amazing and admirable, they're not needed. There are dozens of heroes that can take them down and their teacher is just wasting his energy and lowering his time limit, something that he should be using to fight more dangerous foes than the rabble of Mustuafu.
*ting*
He closed his eyes.
Fucking All Might.
"Hey, kid." He opened his eyes, sliding them over to the man who'd stood next to him on his morning train ride. He looked homeless, the ratty clothes he was wearing, the dirty face and nails, the fact he reeked of alcohol and drugs just cemented the thoughts.
If not homeless, then he's soon to be one.
"Yes." He answered with a sigh, the man grinning, showing off his missing and yellow teeth. Disgusting.
"Put your hands up." He whipped out a knife and thrust it at Vali's stomach, stopping the blade just before his clothing. "Give me all your money! Now!"
People looked over at the pair, gasping at the sight of the man holding some kid - 'Hey, is that Valentine Mizushima?', 'Yeah it is!' - at knifepoint.
He sighed.
"Look, guy." He grabbed the knife by the blade, the metal slicing into his hand lightly but ultimately, his natural durability barely made the wound more than a papercut.
"I'm a Hero Course student at UA High School." The man's face froze, Vali decked him.
Spit flew out from the man's mouth, a slight bit of blood mixing with it as the man went out like a light. He'd have fallen over too if it weren't for Vali catching him by the scruff of his ratty ass jacket.
He sighed again but threw on his standard smile and looked to the poor young man who'd the caught in the crossfire of the small, shitty attempted robbery.
"Hi there, can you do me a favour and call the police." The woman, probably only just in his twenties, nodded with a faint blush, mouth opening and closing in confusion before ultimately placing a phone call to the police about an attempted mugging and that said Mugger has been knocked out and needs to be taken in.
The train ride only got more annoying as people started congratulating him for handling the situation and people making sure he was fine, apparently they'd notice him grab the knife - mainly because he hadn't let go of it when he asked the woman to call the police - and wanted to make sure he was okay.
Oh, and because they wanted to talk to the Valentine Mizushima.
He sighed, he'd seen those cameras out when he decked the guy.
He'll be viral by the time he gets to school. Again. Yaaaaaaaaay.
-/-
"Thank you." He smiled at the police officer who'd met up with him at the train station, his phone had been blowing up with notifications for the past ten minutes since the event happened but He'd ignored it all until the cops arrived.
Luckily they'd been understanding of the situation, he wasn't charged for vigilantism since he was just defending himself and He'd been issued a warning that he shouldn't become a vigilante just because of this event, it wasn't until he pointed out the uniform and his course that they realised they were barking up the wrong tree, something they apologised for with a laugh
Luckily it was all over with I'm just a few minutes, He'd given his statement alongside the others on the train and had been asked if he needed medical attention for his hand, he didn't, it was nothing more than a slight scrape.
The knife was both dull and rusty, he's more worried about getting tetanus from touching it than he is about getting sliced open by it.
Plus, He'd been stabbed, cut open and nearly dismembered too many times to really be worried about something like that happening again. Plus, it was just a knife, a pocket knife at that, it was near useless against him.
It would take someone with a bigger sword and a lot more strength to actually cut his skin than a lowly hobo with a pocket knife
His phone buzzed once again and he sighed, finally pulling the thing from his pocket and looking at the screen.

He didn't even look at the Twitter and Instagram messages and tags he had, they were somewhere in the hundred thousand and he couldn't be bothered to deal with them right now, He'd put a tweet out later saying something like
'Caught my first Villain' and watch twitter explode at him, right now though, he had to message Mina and call them back before they genuinely blow up his phone
He sighed as he called the girl, listening as the phone rang a couple of times before-
"VALI!" He winced, pulling the phone from his ear before slowly putting it back. Ow. "Are you okay? We saw the news-"
"Yeah, I'm fine, just some idiot with a knife." He cut her off, ignoring the photos and videos people were taking of him as he walked through the streets, though he did sometimes smile at people. "The guy was so drunk he didn't even notice my UA uniform until I mentioned it. I didn't even get hurt"
"But people were saying you cut your hand! That you grabbed a knife!" He chuckled at her worried but excited ramble. Looking down at the small white line on his hand, he could only chuckle
"I'm fine, Ashido." He reassured her "My body's a lot more durable than it looks and the knife was so rusty I could've crushed it even without the enhancements to my body."
That much was obvious, compared to the people back here on earth, it seemed like people from Earthland either had no physical limits to their strength or their limits were much, much higher than what a normal person from earth can attain.
An Olympic Athlete was probably just as strong as any normal mage, even Mira, who retired from mage work after Lisanna died could destroy buildings without using her magic.
Himself, Erza, Laxus and Gildarts were monsters, Romeo was a monster in the making and the S-Class He'd raided and trained while the other members were on Tenrou are just as fearsome
"If you're sure Vali" Ashido's voice called back, no longer worried but definitely cautious "Where are you anyway?"
"Hm, UA's just came into view so I'll be there soon." He didn't ask why, he could guess easily enough and he rolled his eyes because of it.
Seriously, why are they so worried? They're gonna be heroes, if he couldn't take out a single attempted robbery who didn't even use his Quirk then He'd be fucked.
And if it's the knife they're worried about then he'll need to give them a crash course on how to fight against weapon users because, sure he grabbed the blade itself which is a stupid thing to do, but he has the durability to back up grabbing a blade barehanded.
By the Gods, he's really gonna have to teach these kids a lot, isn't he? Maybe he should become a teacher after he's done being a hero, he sure has the experience to do so.
"All right Ashido, I'm hanging up now. Tell the others I'm fine and that I'll be seeing them in a few minutes will you?"
"Okay! See you soon!" He hung up the phone, crossing the barrier into UA as he did.
Seriously, today is not gonna be a good day.

"All right everyone settle down" Aizawa instructed as he entered the room, their homeroom teacher had been given charge of them during their Hero Study today and Vali was excited to see what kind of lessons the man would teach them compared to the previous two teachers they'd had
"Today's Basic Hero Training will be a bit different, you'll be supervised by three teachers, myself, All Might and One other" The tired man began, explaining exasperatedly to his students.
Vali understood his exasperation, no one had seen All Might all day and it was clear to Vali why that was even if his fellow students didn't. Aizawa was probably annoyed because he was having to pull Toshinori's weight until he could go back into Buff Might form and use his Quirk to its full potential again.
His Uncle's a fucking idiot.
"What're we gonna be doing, teach?" Sero asked, throwing his hand up to get Aizawas attention.
"Today." Their teacher cast an annoyed glance at the tape boy "You'll be preparing for disaster relief, from floods to fires-"
The man thrust out a card, much like All Mights 'Battle' card and their other teachers 'Training' Card, Aizawa pushed forth a 'Rescue' Card
"-Today is Rescue training!" The man finished and the class exploded in conversation, from his place he could hear Midoriya muttering to himself and Mineta whispering to himself something about girls loving him.
"Rescue Training, hmm." He twisted to his Vice President and smiled at her.
"You'll be great at it Yaoyorozu, your Quirk will be a great help for Rescue work." He assured the girl. She'd been able to keep the confident front but Vali had seen her type before, they'd never suffered any significant loss before and the first time she's rendered useless or significantly discouraged she'll break.
As her president and her friend he has to be there for her when she does, he just hopes that it happens sooner rather than later so she doesn't suffer for it.
"Don't get ahead of yourselves." Aizawa cut in before Yaoyorozu could reply "As I was saying, this time it's up to you if you want to wear your Hero Costume, some of your costumes aren't adaptable for the task at hand after all."
The man didn't look at anyone but everyone nodded, for people like Iida whose body was covered in metal plates, moving through zones to simulate floods or fires would be the death of him. It was also definitely pointed at Midoriya, whose suit was completely destroyed.
"Since the simulation area is quite far away, we'll be taking the bus to get there." The man didn't smile nor did he smirk but his lips definitely twitched slightly "That's all, now go get ready."
-/-
"In order to get everyone suited on the bus smoothly should we not-" He tuned Iida out. He didn't mean to, okay maybe he did a little bit, but the boy was seriously too strict for Vali's case.
"Iida." He finally confronted the boy, sighing as he cut him off. The boy looked scandalised at the latter fact, but shut up anyway, this was gonna be as good a time as any to talk to the boy, especially since everyone was still separated in groups and their respective friends weren't crowding yet.
"Iida, I'll be the first to admit that I don't particularly like you." The boy went wide-eyed and it made Vali wince but he quickly explained: "It's not anything that you've done but your attitude is what put me at odds with you."
"My… attitude?" The boy narrowed his eyebrows, not in anger but in thought.
"I like to think of myself as a landmark person that can get serious when the opportunity needs it to be. I don't care about a seating plan because it's not something that helps the class, if anything it'll hinder them. Similarly, I like to look at things from the perspective we'll have as heroes. We won't always have all the answers handed to us on a silver platter, we won't always have an experienced teacher watching over our shoulders." He paused, shifting his feet.
"In comparison, you come across, to me at least, as someone who forces their views on people. To you, a seating plan is helpful probably because it ensures we'll learn from our teacher the best right?" Iida nodded to his question halfheartedly. Vali took a shit in the dark, so either the boy didn't have a reason or he was only partially accurate.
"Having a seating plan for some lessons or something is beneficial but not all the time, for example in our fighting lessons having a rotation is more useful than having free choice, you'll be constantly fighting in different ways against stronger and weaker people as well as those on your level, however in a study environment it doesn't help as much, would you work better having Midoriya and Uraraka next to you or having Bakugou and Mineta?" He proposed and the child answered with a frown.
"Midoriya and Uraraka." His voice was quieter than before, more thoughtful.
"Our personalities clash, Iida, and while I do believe and hope that we can grow and become friends, it's not something that can happen until we understand each other." He smiled, offering his hand to the boy.
"That's not to say your ideas and thoughts are useless, if you have any thoughts you think are worthwhile sharing then always do so, same with your questions. My opinions are my own and I don't want to hinder anyone else's learning because of them, however, I'd like the same courtesy with myself and that my own thoughts and feelings be accepted, so please, let me do my job, especially for something as trivial as a bus ride." He attempted to patch up the conversation
Luckily the boy accepted his handshake and while the boy was still deep in thought, he didn't seem angry or irritated with Vali.
"I see, I… think I understand." The boy responded. "I apologise for coming off as overbearing and will try my best to amend my actions."
...what?
When the hell did he call him overbearing? Ah, he must've come across as saying that
"Iida I wasn't-"
"No, it's alright." The boy cut him off this time, a smile on his face as he seemed to realise his 'mistakes'. "It seems you were the right person for the job of Class President Mizushima, thank you for your opinion, It's given me a lot to think about."
Before he could correct the boy he walked off, head held high and a small smile on his face as he met up with Uraraka and Midoriya.
"So, what was that about Pres?" Jirou asked, appearing next to him out of nowhere
"I… have no idea." He admitted, blinking rapidly to digest the turn of events "I was just trying to tell him to calm down and trust his teachers and classmates but… Well, I have no clue."
Jirou laughed at him like the traitor she was. He glared at her lightly to which she laughed some more. Traitor!
He'll have his revenge, just for that he'll-
He'll-
"Valentine, everyone's here now, should we start getting on the bus?" Yaoyorozu interrupted the pair, awkwardly looking between her glaring class president and the guffawing punk girl next to him.
Vali sighed, cancelling the beginnings of torture in his mind.
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Yaoyorozu." He turned to the group and whistled, the high pitched noise dragging everyone's attention. He smirked at the evil look Jirou gave him, heh, sweet, sweet revenge.
"All right guys, on the bus." The group slowly moved to the bus, it had come as a surprise when he and Yaoyorozu had been told by Aizawa that they were, in no uncertain terms, basically teaching assistants. Their jobs differed from what a class president or Representative usually would because of the UA Freedom shit, so their jobs were to help their classmates with work, homework, problems and shit like that.
It was preparation for owning their own agency, Vali realised. He'd been left in charge of Fairy Tail far too often after Macao took charge and had attended a lot of meeting in his stead because of his name and reputation, he was well versed in the inner politics of the Fiorian guilds and he did not doubt that it was the same for the Hero Offices.
This was honestly a good way to get them slowly prepared for the role. The Class Presidents of UA, Vali had later been told, was a job that brought a lot of attention to the holders, mainly because they'd make for excellent heroes and because they were the first to open their Offices more often than not
This was probably because UA basically gave them their own, mini Hero Office where they're the lead hero and their classmates are their sidekicks.
It was smart and he has to applaud Nezu and the past Principles for their absolute genius in making the school work how it does.
"You coming Pres." He ignored the small jab he received from Jirou and followed her on the bus. He stifled a smile, the seating plan Iida wanted to implement wouldn't have worked anyways with the bus they were on and the boy seemed to realise that, though he didn't seem upset but once again in thought, the smile on his thought was nice to see
He was evaluating his previous actions to the reality he now faced which was good.
He slid in the seat next to Jirou, letting the tiny girl sit next to the window. Unfortunately, that made Bakugou sit next to Todoroki, the Twin Dragon rip-offs just sitting next to each other was enough to give him a migraine
"Your Quirk resembled All Mights" Vali opened his eyes, locking them onto the shaking boy Asui's words were aimed at. He mentally compared the two's quirks and everything he knew of them.
'All Might- Toshinori was taken in by my friend Nana Shimura because their quirks were so similar-'
'Toshi was quirkless for a long time before his Quirk manifested so suddenly putting in or changing your Quirk description and stuff should be fine-'
'Haaaa? Deluxe doesn't have a Quirk-'
'Toshi's quirk is special, he has a duty that he has to carry out which is why he's teaching at UA next year, though you can't tell anyone that-'
'You quirks like All Mights-'
Vali's eyes narrowed at the boy. He knew quirks couldn't be passed on between people, Toshinori and Sorahiko had made that abundantly clear and, to be honest, it was suspicious how often they brought it up.
Now he's not saying that Midoriya and All Might have the same quirk or that his uncle can even pass his Quirk on but it is suspicious. People have similar quirks, he knows that but a Quirk as overpowered as All Mights is impossible to recreate without years of selective breeding, his own Quirk - if it were one - wouldn't be possible to replicate.
Himself and All Might, as well as a handful of people around the world, are classified as having Deviant Quirks. People with this title are special, their quirks are basically so special, so powerful that calling them Once In A Lifetime quirks is an insult. Their quirks are just abnormally strong for no apparent reason as if a system messed up on that particular person and tripled the power they should normally have.
From the top of his head, All Might from Japan, Stars and Stripes from the United States of America, Ruyi Jingu Bang from China and Leshy from Russia are classified as Deviant Quirk users.
Their quirks are so powerful that they can only be compared to each other in strength, they're all the Number 1 Heroes of their respective country and they make their second-place counterparts seem like children in comparison to their strength.
They're all unsurmountable mountains.
And yet somehow, this Midoriya kid suddenly developed a Deviant Level quirk after meeting his Uncle in some way and it just so happens this recently developed Deviant Quirk is the exact same as his Uncles?
It's… suspicious.
He'll have to bring it up to Sorahiko and Toshinori when they return to UA. He wants answers, He'd told them basically everything he could about his old world and they kept this a secret? He doesn't care that they kept the fact he could pass his Quirk down a secret, he's upset that they didn't tell him so he could help Midoriya as much as possible.
He'd have gotten around to helping the kid with his Quirk control at something but if the kid now holds the remnants of his Uncle's power then He'll have to beat the control into him.
"All Might doesn't end up in the infirmary every time he uses his quirk though." Kirishima's point was a good one, both to Midoriya and to Vali.
If Midoriya did somehow have All Might quirk then of course the kid was in the infirmary every time he tried to use his Quirk, going from a quirkless dude to suddenly wielding a Deviant Quirk, he's lucky he isn't dead. That'd be like if he used Awakening after not training a day in his life, his brain would haemorrhage and He'd die within seconds
Dammit, he really needs to talk to All Might now, he needs to know if he has to help this kid learn to wield a Deviant Quirk before he dies or not.
He sighed, He's glad Asui had mentioned it now or He'd have only connected the dots at a later date. He paused to idly wonder how no one else had figured them out, they weren't exactly subtle but then it hit him.
Everyone had been raised with the knowledge that Quirks physically cannot be passed from one person to another, it was so ingrained in society that if anyone even suggested it they'd be labelled a conspiracy theorist at best and insane at worst, but Vali wasn't raised in this knowledge, he was an outsider looking in.
It's like a modern era human looking back on the ancient Greeks and asking why they didn't realise a God doesn't control the waves the sea made when the moon does.
They have an outsider's perspective, sketching he shares.
Damnit, he's gotta have words with those annoying old men. What're they even worried about, he doesn't care for the quirk and he's more than capable of taking care of himself, because if All Might could pass on his quirk then it makes sense that someone has the opposite quirk to himself out there.
He resisted a smirk, heh of a guy like that does exist he could try to take his Sea God Slayer Magic but He'd soon find out how impossible that is.
And if they could, well, the last guy to try to copy his Quirk had died moments after doing so
A mere mortal cannot handle the power of a God so haphazardly like that.
"But that sort of strength-enhancing quirk is awesome, you can do so much cool stuff with it!" Kirishima rectified his statement, and Vali realised how rude it probably sounded. Still, the boy looked bitter at his own words, an unusual expression on his usually cheery face.
"Unlike my Hardening." The boy muttered. Ahh, that's why. He went to comfort the boy but was cut off before he could make a noise.
"Well, I think it's awesome! Your Quirk is more than fitting for a Pro Hero!" Midoriya, the centre of his thoughts right now, pointed out cheerily, bringing a smile to Kirishima.
The students muttered between themselves thanks to Midoriya's words, debating who'd be the best hero because of their quirk.
"If we're talking about strong and flashy, then Bakugou, Todoroki and Vali have that in the bag." Kirishima pointed out and all eyes turned to the three students.
Todoroki remained indifferent while Bakugou allowed a small grin to appear on his face despite his apathetic acting. Vali meanwhile-
"Ahhh, Kiri~ you didn't have to say such a nice thing about little old me, you're making me embarrassed~" He teased, smiling at the redhead who chuckled alongside Mina. They'd grown used to his teasing over the past few weeks they'd known each other, his other friends except for Jirou were still getting used to it though
"But with how unhinged he is Bakugou will never be a popular hero" He'd never admit to the coughing for those words sent him through as he smothered his laughs, of He'd been drinking anything then the poor kids in front of him would've been given a surprise shower from his choked laugh.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY FROG-FACE?" The boy exploded over his chair and he's lucky Vali was too busy choking g to care or He'd have received a fist to the face for it
"See." Asui's response just made the coughing fits worse. God, He loved his classmates.
Jirou slowly started patting his back as he finished coughing and he soaked his throat with water to stop it from itching so badly because of his coughing/laughing fit.
He's lucky he was focusing on himself since Kaminari, the idiot that he is, decided to start teasing the boy about his attitude and boy God was it hilarious seeing someone as dumb as Denki tease the fourth smartest in the class.
"All right, you lot, settle down. We're almost there" Aizawa appeared, an unimpressed expression stuck firmly on his face and whether that was directed at him or not he didn't care. That shit was fucking hilarious.
Yo guys, this is sadly the last chapter I've fully written by the time the first chapter was published, shame I know. However there's no doubt that I've wrote many more chapters by the time the second chapter is released let alone the fifth so look forward to that! Yeah, so last chapter I told y'all that I fucked up by making Vali act like class dad and well... yeah, there was no way I could see Midoriya winning the vote to Class President and with Vali voting for Yaoyorozu that put them at a shared three points, and while Midoriya did want a position he's also too timid to go against Yaoyorozu for the position at the beginning of the series. I also couldn't have Vali give the position to Iida without it coming across as OOC on his part, there's no way in hell he isn't taking charge of the rampage the students made when the reporters broke in.
Shame since Iida was robbed of his time to shine but he'll get his moment at the USJ. I also hope I did a good job in portraying Vali's talk with Iida about his personality and how he comes across without making Vali seem like he's simply bitching to him about who he is, same with Aizawa I hope that conversation came across well.
I also told y'all that Vali would display his intelligence during this chapter and well, he did. Honestly the fact All Might and Midoriya were able to keep it a secret for so long in canon always remained a mystery to me but that's when I remembered something. In canon, Todoroki's idea that Midroiya was All Mights bastard child is probably the most logical thing the world could've came up with, the people in MHA are basically institutionalised to believing that quirks cant be given to people but Vali doesn't have that tinted view so while It's s stretch even for him, he'd more open to the idea of it than people form MHA would be.
Even Bakugo took ages to fully come to terms with the knowledge and Midoriya basically told him about AFO at the beginning of the series.
So yeah, Vali's figuring out about AFO and All Might and Sorahiko are gonna have a pissed of God Slayer demanding answers out of them when they come out of the USJ. Oh God I cant wait to write the USJ, that's gonna be fun. Sadly, as much as I want to, I cant have Vali land in the Shipwreck zone and ruin everyone's day there but I can have him land somewhere else. I'm actually about to do spin wheel and have that decided which of the other zones he'll land in, if he gets teleported that is. I don't know yet.
Nyahahaha, this is gonna be fun. Poor Shigaraki wont know what hit him until, well, Vali hits him.
Right I have to go before I give any real spoilers, just know the next chapter will be amazing - I hope, I haven't wrote it yet after all.
Peace!
Vali.
P.S. I was re-watching Sword Art Online Abridged and now I wanna write and SAO fanfiction but that means I not only have to watch all of SAO again but I also have to try and understand how the fuck the different systems work! Seriously they didn't explain shit about them from what I can remember. plus If I did write an SAO fic then I'd probably do the cliche thing and have the OC be Kayaba's brother or something.
Eh, let me know If y'all are interested in something like that and I'll start thinking about writing it.
Well, even if y'all don't want an SAO fic I'll probably still write it if I feel the fic will go somewhere good.
Peace Y'all!
I'm glad I haven't posted this chapter yet since I left some stuff out of my author note that I should've written! Phew, that was a close one
Okay first of all, Deviants. Yup, that was just something I came up with randomly to explain the sheer difference in power level between some characters in the show. There's no real way I could see Star And Stripe or All Might having quirks as powerful as they do without there being something wrong with their quirk in general, hence the Deviant Theory. The Deviant Theory, as I'm calling it, is that some quirks are just naturally broken, it's as if the limiter a quirk would normally have is completely broken making the quirk itself 100 times stronger than it should normally be. Think of it like All Might's glass explanation. A normal quirk will be filled to the brim of the glass just perfectly, it cannot be stronger or weaker than it is and can only grow with the wielder, someone like Bakugo or Todoroki are perfect examples of this, they're powerful because their 'glass of water' is just larger with potential than someone else's. For a Deviant Quirk Weilder like All Might or Star and Stripe, the glass isn't just overflowing but the faucet that filled the glass up can't be shut up.
It's constantly growing in power, getting stronger than it should b.
However it's also super rare, a 1 in 2 Billion chance of being a Deviant which is why they're so amazing to see, they're rarer than quirkless people.
In this story there's only gonna be like, 10 Deviants mentioned, I'll list them here:
All For One - Obviously. His quirk should've been just a powerful copy quirk, but because of the deviant theory it became so op that it let him take quirks completely.
One For All (original) - Like his brother he was another deviant, his quirk should've been letting others borrow his own strength but thanks to the deviant theory and his brothers meddling it became a quirk that could be given to other people entirely.
All Might/Izuku Midoriya - OFA has risen to a deviant level because of how much strength the previous owners put into OFA, making it what is effectively the strongest physical enhancing quirk in existence.
Valentine Mizushima - technically not deviant level since he uses magic but it's how they justify it His 'Quirk' is Ocean Manipulation, they're not quite sure what limits his quirk actually has.
Star and Stripe - Her quirk should've just been the ability to give something a property, making wood as hard as steel, making a sword sharp enough to cut metal etc. The Deviant Theory allowed her to affect the laws of reality and place Laws on anything she can grasp.
Ruy Jingu Bang - A Chinese hero who should've just had the ability to make things heavier is now able to manipulate weight entirely, think of a super, super OP version of Uraraka but.. male. And yes, his name is the weapon of Sun Wukong, I remember reading that the Ruyi Jingu Bang was too heavy for the other Gods to lift but Sun Wukong could, thus letting the pillar of heaven become his weapon.
Leshy - Leshy is the Russian Heroine who can manipulate forests, plant life and everything related to it. She originally was supposed to just be able to help plants grow but can now manipulate plant life entirely. What with Vali and meeting people who have super OP Forest related abilities anyways?
I haven't mentioned the final two in the story and I doubt I will but I can list them here as well.
Ophiuchus- Ophiuchus isn't an active hero, not anymore anyway she's much too old for that. Ophiuchus's quirk allowed her what she called Zodiac Mimicry, she could take on the traits of one of the Twelve Zodiac signs with each sign granting her a different power. (I actually got this idea from another fanfiction called The Zodiac, I asked the person running the account If I could use the idea for one of my characters so I do have that. They're not writing fanfiction anymore which is sad)
Finally, we have...
Inferno - Inferno is kinda the Anti-Vali, except she just... isn't. Sorry, her fire is amazing, she had the hottest fire this world has ever seen produced and her control over fire is amazing. She makes Endeavour, Dabi and Todoroki's fire manipulation look like a candle's flame in comparison but she just doesn't have what it takes to beat Vali. Like, the only flames that could burn away his water would be a literal Gods fire or Xancrows fire. Some woman with a particularly strong fire quirk can't turn his water to steam no matter what she tried. Oh yeah she could burn him and damage him extremely badly, everyone on this list can but her fire isn't enough to face Vali on head to head, his water would just swallow her flames whole and spit them out.
But yeah, Inferno is probably the 4th strongest person on this list, just the sheer aura she gives off can make the strongest Fire Emitters sweat, she's basically a walking, talking heatwave. Put her next to Endeavour and he'd have heatstroke just watching her walk up to him.
I'm... also really tempted to have Endeavour be one of the many men Inferno has spurred over the years, he originally wanted her to be his wife to create the ultimate child but she was just like 'Yeah, no fuck off' but Idk.
If you haven't noticed, Inferno's a lesbian.
She'd be more interested in Rei than Endeavour nyahahaha
