"Haa you wanna take out the bird or should I? You need to save your strength but it'd be good for the kids to see you kick some ass." He asked Toshinori, the blonde giving him a considerate look as they ignored the danger to their lives that stood just a few feet away.
Was he particularly worried about this monster? No, not all. Maybe if he didn't know it was an undead that basically only worked on the orders of its master he would be since either himself or All Might would have to hold back but knowing that the creature was just a soulless husk?
Well, it let whoever fight the thing go at it with full power.
Now was he worried about the genuine strength and durability of the creature? Maybe a little bit, if this thing was created to kill All Might then it just have some serious firepower behind it for the roaches backer to believe it is capable of fighting against a Deviant like All Might
"I shall take this one Vali." All Might spoke lowly, frown on his face "After everything the students have been through… it is my job as a teacher and a hero to protect you all and yet I failed today-"
"Yeah, yeah I get it." He cut the man off, patting his back and letting the water armour slide over him, the water being the most concentrated on the wound to the large hero's side.
"You and Sorahiko both seem to forget that I'm a literal War Veteran Toshi." He sighed, removing the hand "If it weren't because the old man's making me hold back then I'd have ended this the moment they arrived."
"I know and I apologise but… using yours how you have for so long-" The man was solemn in his apology.
"Ugh, what do you not understand by the fact I get it." He sighed, rolling his eyes, "Dude, I could still kill everyone here by accident, going all out on these poor schmucks just wouldn't be fair."
He cast his eyes on the roach, who was slowly turning paler and paler. A small smile crossed his face, eyes narrowing as he did.
"Now, you might wanna finish off that bird guy before my magic kills the roach. He swallowed quite a bit of my magic and you know what that does to a person." He'd… experimented with the toxic nature of magic back in Earthland during Bellum Civil War, something that He'd briefly explained to All Might, Naomasa and Sorahiko when he arrived
A mortal cannot handle the power of a God.
He repeated that statement so many times throughout his life but nobody seemed to treat his words seriously for some reason.
Those poor soldiers who fought for the Bellum King certainly found out why when the God Slayers Waters his magic let him use turned their organs to mush and literally ate them from the inside out.
Heh, a Fire God Slayers Flames purify, A Sky God Slayers Wind Cleanses, a Lightning God Slayers Lightning damages the soul and a Sea God Slayers waters potions.
He wonders what kind of effects the other God Slayers' magics did… well except for Merlin, he met that bastard once and even then the meeting was one time too many.
Seriously how the fuck did Merlin qualify as one of his greatest Adversaries?! The older fucking God Slayer died over 5,000 years before he was born!
It's not fair damnit!
Fucking Merlin, annoying little prick.
Historia of the Dead is bullshit magic anyways, though it was annoying that he survived he couldn't fault Natsu for not killing the prick. Okay he can, but the pink-haired dragon Slayer was insistent on not killing anyone.
It was respectable if a bit fucking stupid but who's he to judge.
"Huh- what?" He snapped out of his daydream when a gust of wind blew over him. "Oh, you guys have started. Whoops. Should probably move back a bit."
He took a few steps away, ignoring the fact that the guy was so powerful it was sending shock waves through the building. Kurogiri, who'd seemingly come back to his senses, was being battered by the intense winds as his black mist was being spread too thinly for him to attempt an escape.
The roach wasn't fairing any better, blood was starting to dribble from his mouth and the shock waves All Might and the Nomu were producing just shit straight through him.
"My Blows… aren't working at all" He heard his uncle speak after trading some blows with the monster, clearly meaning to be heard since they wouldn't have heard him otherwise. Say what you will about the man but he could keep things quiet if he wanted to, he may not be the subtlest dagger in the dark but he's effective when he needs to be, hence how they can communicate secretly despite his usual booming tone.
"Heh.. haha… hahaha" The roach started to chuckle, blood dribbling from his lips, nose and ears faster than before. It seems that despite the pain he was going through something had made him laugh, probably All Mights words before. It wouldn't be long until he dies now, Vali had given All Might until he beats the Nomu for him to evaporate the toxin shredding the villains inside apart but the fight seems to be going on longer than it should be
The roach, whatever his name actually is since he'd never actually heard it spoken - Wait no he had heard it, Kurogiri had said his name, Shigaraki or something. Word name, he prefers just calling him Roach - is more than likely gonna die before the fight finishes.
His toxin can't be cured by any antidote this world could create, Earthland only had an antidote because Sherria and Wendy exist to stop that kinda thing. The moment they die so does the antidote. This world doesn't have any Sky God Slayers to evaporate the toxin and unless someone has a quirk that can rewind time then the Shigaraki kids gonna be fucked.
He'd need a super-powerful regeneration quirk to stave off the destruction to his body now, as well as a time manipulator to rewind his body to before his toxin entered it.
Such quirks were rare, healing quirks, in general, are typically extremely difficult and rare to develop let alone a quirk affecting time itself, from the top of his head the only person with a quirk anywhere similar to a time manipulating Quirk belongs to Rock Lock who can freeze any non-living object in place but even that isn't true time manipulation but more air solidification.
"Grr" Vali napped back to reality, eyes widening at the scene he saw before him and cursing as he did so. Teleporters were rare in Earthland, Vali personally had never fought against someone with magic like that so he'd gotten careless when dealing with Kurogiri. He'd known the villain had recovered from having his host's skull crushed open but had figured he wouldn't be able to use his quirk thanks to All Might
Seems he'd overestimated the villain as he'd not only opened a portal beneath All Might as he tried to suplex the Nomu, but he'd freed himself and Shigaraki from his bindings. Shame that he'd only bound them to the ground and not had the water ropes wrap around their entire bodies though he doubts that doing so would've protected them against Kurogiri's quirk any better.
"You were planning on… driving him into the concrete to restrict his… moment" the villain spoke with bloody lips, a grin spread across his face despite the obvious agony he was in. Serious what's with this guy, he'd known plenty of villains just like him who'd just dealt with the pain but this guy was proving to be more annoying than the other villains he fought like him. Mainly his voice, it was annoying Vali.
'Should I just kill him?' The thought passed through his mind idly, watching the villain rant to the pro who wasa only unaffected from the Nomu's grip because of his water armour 'I can still feel my water inside of him wrecking his organs, It would be so simple to just have it explode or pierce his heart.'
'Nah, you promised yourself to not kill anyone anymore remember?' The angel on his left argued to the devil on his right 'After everything that's happened do you really want to keep killing? Haven't I killed enough'
'Yeah but it'd be soo much easier' He argued back, casually reinforcing the water on All Mights body as the Nomu tried to pierce the mans wound 'If I just killed them now then I won't ever have to deal with them again though'
'Oh please you know this guys kind, he'll either be completely devastated by his loss and never bother you again or he'll go batshit insane and be killed by some other villain whose toes he stepped on in his crazed haze' He hummed, the angel had a point there.
There was no way this guy would survive long after this even if he didn't do the deed
'Ugh fine' The angel pumped its fist in victory 'BUT! If this comes back to bite me in the ass It's on your ass!'
The angel gulped and disappeared, the silent devil not getting the chance to speak up before poofing away back to hell. He seriously hated the embodiments of his consciousness, they're just as big as bastards as he is.
No, he's not insane. What are you talking about? He's the picture of sanity!
Yeah…
Totally…!
Uhhh-
"Oi." He raised his eyebrow, only now noticing that some of his classmates had joined him. From his place on the fountain, he looked across at Katsuki Bakugo, who held down the Mist Villain Kurogiri by the neck brace he wore.
Similarly, Shoto Todoroki had frozen half of Nomu's body which prevented it from trying to break through his water armour anymore. Finally, Izuku Midoriya and Ejiro Kirishima stood at the scene.
"Are you just gonna sit there, or what, bastard?" He smirked at Bakugo's question, pushing himself up from his seating position and moving to join the group.
"Eh, I figured the old man had it all covered but clearly not." He 'admitted' ignoring his uncle as he broke free from the Nomu's grip "Seriously Old Man, you told me you had it this time, I was finally resting for once."
He complained to the teacher, who chuckled lightly at his complaints while everyone looked on curiously. He hummed, eh, shock tactics it is.
"I know you're getting old and all Uncle." And boy didn't that widen eyes "But c'mon, you have to hold onto that number 1 spot for at least two more years before I steal it from ya, you can't go getting beat by a little bird, a cockroach and a zombie."
"Un...cle?" The combined voices of the roach, Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki rang out. The former was interested and annoyed by the term he'd used to refer to All Might while the latter three were shocked by the 'blood relation' they share.
"Hmm, I do seem to be losing my touch with my old age nephew" Good, Seems Toshinori had caught on to his plan "Back in my Prime I could've taken him down in a couple of hits."
"Nep...hew?" They called out again.
He smirked. While it wasn't quite psychological warfare - that was him calling the bitch roach all the time, with every beat down he received He'd call him the Nickname more and more until it wore on his soul. Not quite his usual style of psychological warfare but better than none - but it did create a break in the fighting, the only people even in a true battle state now was All Might and himself
Kurogiri wouldn't act without the roaches orders and Nomu didn't have conscious thought
It also gave a good excuse for how All Might hadn't already taken the villain out, He'd established that he was weaker than he used to be without looking that much weaker at all. It would take a serious eye to see the true difference in strength and these kids don't have it yet. It would mean they wouldn't be too shocked when All Might does step down and retire to be Toshinori Yagi.
The problem with All Might's image is that he seems infallible, he's never shown weakness, never lost a fight, and while people knew He'd retire eventually nobody ever saw it truly happening.
It reminded him of his people used to view the Queen. She'd been around for so long that people joked that she was Immortal. People knew that she'd die eventually and Charles would take over but when it does happen everyone will most likely be in denial for a few moments or hours. It just doesn't seem possible because they've been there for so long, unfaltering, unrelenting that for them to suddenly break and die or disappear would destroy people's image of them.
And the same thing is happening right now with All Might. People accepted He'd retire eventually, people had already started assuming that him joining the UA staff was his way of preparing the world for his eventual departure, but nobody was truly ready for his disappearance.
He was a vacuum.
He'd destroyed the crime rate in every country He'd been in, had single-handedly taken down crime worldwide however once he's gone thousands of villains will crawl out the woodworks and the world simply isn't ready for that yet. They had the Heroes to combat the Villains sure but all that time they spent quivering 8n the darkness let them thrive and get stronger
That's the problem of having a single powerful force in the world, sure the other Number 1's are powerful and can fill in All Mights gap in their countries but there's barely any countries whose Number 1 can compare to All Mights, the role was tough to fill after all.
His hairs raised and it was because if that he formed his barrier in time, small but thick walls of water covered his classmates and an explosion shot into one of them, a wave of water moving through the circular dome around… Bakugo, yeah that's why the Nomu had targeted
"Haa, man can a guy just get five minutes to daydream? Is that too much to ask for?" He questioned, keeping his expression light despite his entire being narrowing as it reentered fight mode.
"Do you not know mercy?" It was All Might who spoke. Despite having moved everyone saw him tense to do so, it was only a years worth of trust that stilled his movements, knowing the kid He'd taken in would be backing him up.
It was the kind of trust only shared between two Pros.
They could work together without even speaking, there were no words, expressions, actions or thoughts exchanged, just sheer instinct and knowledge that let them fight around each other, and while Uncle and Nephew had never really fought together, they knew enough about each other to have that semblance of trust.
"We had to attempt to save our ally did we not?" The Roach asked "Not too long ago… one of your students cut my arm off-"
He snorted, hiding the smile behind his hand.
This guys logic is stupid.
This fucking villain is stupid
...why is he still fighting them again?
Oh yeah, he can't kill them. Whoops.
"-You're nothing more than a bludgeon of oppression! Violence breeds more violence! And once we kill you, that'll be made known to the whole world l!" The villain continued his monologue and…
'... this guy's an idiot'
He sighed.
What the hell is up with All the Villains he fights being fucking stupid?! Like, Zeref wanted to see his brother again so why didn't he just kill himself, He'd have seen him again in the afterlife! God Serena wanted ultimate power and to win against him, so why didn't he just consume the fucking dragon Slayer lacrima he'd given him sooner and not after fleeing to Alvarez?
Ugh, Villains are idiots.
He sighed once more as the mist started appearing between the Nomu and the Roach. Seems something had happened to Bakugo inside his dome to let the most guy escape. Fucking annoying.
Speaking of domes he should probably- yeah, best to let them down now.
"Kurogiri…"
"I apologise for the wait Shigaraki." The undead voice answered, annoyance lacing its voice "I had trouble forming myself after the… incident, the Bakugo child was annoying to deal with as well however I escaped easily."
He saw Bakugo sneer, clearly hating the insinuation.
"Good… Nomu, Kurogiri you two deal with All Might. I'll take the kids." This time the laugh escaped caped more vocally, a barking chuckle escaping his through instead of a mostly silent snort
"Oh my God can you believe this guy, he's so pathetic he not only needs to go after kids but keeps losing to them as well." He chuckled some more, wiping away a tear from his eye as he gossiped to his classmates "Come on roach, I'll even let ta have a free shot just to make it even but don't go complaining when you get another flesh wound."
"Mizushima-" He narrowed his eyes at Midoriya
"I don't want to hear another word from you, Midoriya." His words stilled the boy "And don't worry about me, the roach is too weak to even do anything-"
He felt something grab him and turned to stare into the Villains red eyes, widened in confusion and expression his anger and annoyance
"-see. Pathetic." He smirked and-
*bang*
He smashed his forehead into the Villains, dropping him to the ground and breaking the hand covering his face and making it slip a smidge, revealing the upper portion of his face.
"Ugh, with a face like that it's no wonder you became a villain roach" He chuckled. "Let me guess, you were so ugly as a child that daddy abused you and any girls you liked just straight up ignored you?"
Something I'm his words must've been true to an extent, as the ground started shifting under them, cracks and fissures forming. The earth tore itself apart from the moment the Villains fingers touched it
"Ah so that's it is it? Daddy took you over his knee one too many times and now you wanna play the big bad guy huh." He pulled a barrier around himself as a hand punched at him, he responded in kind, blasting a fist through the wall into the villain's chest
He didn't let up, continuing to exchange blows and assault the villain
"I wonder, did you kill your daddy roach? Did you turn him to ash in revenge for all the abuse he put you through? Is that how you got a penchant for murder? I can see it now on the headlines 'A villain named Roach attacked UA's Class 1-A because he couldn't get over his daddy issues'." He chuckled, letting an outstretched hand slide past his face before punching the man's gut "In fact, I might even take an interview and have that put as the title, it's fitting after all-"
The biggest shock wave of the day rocked over him and while he held on through the pressure - He'd stood still through worse blasts - the villain stumbled away from him.
"REMEMBER THESE WORDS." He heard his uncle shout "PLUS ULTRA!"
An even bigger shock wave rattled the building and something - the Nomu if he had to guess - went flying into the sky, breaking through the ceiling and out into the outside world where it'd hopefully squish itself into paste.
"Y-you-" the villain He'd just beat the shit out of mentally and physically screeched "You cheated! He said you were weaker… lier you still overpowered us…"
"What's wrong, where did all that bravado go?" His uncle asked "What happened to clearing the game? Try it, if you can?"
"That's All Might for you, we're not even players anymore." He heard Todoroki comment and he remembered that his classmates were still there
"Come on Midoriya, we have to leave now otherwise we'll be used as hostages." Kirishima urged but the green-haired boy didn't move
"Midoriya" He called out, making the boy twist "I don't know why you think my Uncle is so weak that he'd need a student to fight for him, but believe me when I say he'll be fine."
He gave a conspiratorial wink. If the kid did know about All Might's injury and was his successor then it would make sense for him to be worried, however, he didn't take as much damage as they're no doubt thinking he has. Even now he can feel the strength emanating from his uncle, of this did continue into another fight He'd be able to take out the Villains in seconds
He watched as the two villains exchanged words and sighed. He'd gotten the blue-haired fuckers Nickname right, he was a fucking cockroach with his he just didn't fucking die
A portal opened before All Might and the kids tensed having not left the scene when they suddenly attacked-
*boom*
A bubble wrapped around Midoriya, freezing him in mid-air as he tried to jump and save All Might- the pro hero who'd been protecting the world for the last 20 years or whatever.
*Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang-*
A flurry of bullets shot through the building and the villain attacking All Might cried out, having bullets tear through his body before being protected by Kurogiri, the mist man catching the bullets with his mist and seeing them… somewhere
"Huh were-" Thirteen made her reappearance, sucking the mist villain and the Roach away with her black hole and Snipe laid fire on them with his gun
"Ahh, how annoying. For the time being, we've failed but… we'll get you next time, Symbol of Peace." He kept the smirk off his face
'And I'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling symbols of Peace!' The image played out in his mind imminently. Fucking Scooby-Doo.

"Oi Naomasa!" He called out to the detective, who turned to him with a smile. After everything was done the Pro's went around and started collecting all the Villains left in the building while All Might escorted them out. Sadly Midoriya had to stay in his water bubble until they got to recovery girl, the kid had broken his legs trying to protect All Might
"I'm glad to see you alive kid, everything alright?" He rolled his eyes when the man ruffled his hair. It was revenge for calling him Dad all those months ago when he got a call from his sister.
"Yeah just here to report some stuff to ya." They collectively became serious, the police officers nearby closing in as well.
"First off, this-" He grabbed the smaller bubble in front of him and reached inside, grasping the arm and letting the bubble fall away to mist "-is the arm of the villain Shigaraki, aka Roach. Cut it off with my Glaive when he tried to kill a fellow student and didn't have any safer way to prevent the attack. I'm sure you can get some forensics on it to see who the villain is?"
"Yeah, thanks for that you know we'll have to tell the Hero Commission you dismembered someone don't you?" He shrugged, knowing the paperwork would be hell for the detective.
"Oi, Chika." The man shouted over his shoulder, a woman wearing white gloves and what Vali knew to be a forensic bunny suit appeared. "Vali, this is Chika, one of the SOCP's we have on-site, give her the arm."
He placed it in her hand, giving the woman a brief overview of where the arm came from-
"Oh yeah, you'll find a crater with Blood, brain and skeleton inside there that belongs to the villain Kurogiri. The guy's a zombie, he had no blood flow and his consciousness wasn't connected to his body at all, like possession of some kind. Anyways, I crushed his skull to incapacitate him but it didn't last long. You might wanna do some swab tests and stuff to run DNA tests and get the guy the body belonged to, I doubt the consciousness that is Kurogiri is a real person, it's probably more like a programmed consciousness than a person whose personality is naturally like that" He informed.
Naomasa sighed.
China bounced excitedly.
"You sure like making extra work for me, don't you kid." He chuckled and waited for Chika to disappear before getting serious again.
"There's some shit going on right now, those villains knew about Toshinori's weakening as well as his injury, which means other villains might know as well. You'll need to crack down on any information brokers you know about to make sure the information doesn't spread." The detective nodded, accepting the information seriously before they eventually separated.

After meeting Naomasa he waited with his fellow students and gave his recount of the attack, starting from his meeting with Aizawa where he gained permission to use Ascalon to the end where Snipe shot the roach full of holes. Now he was just sitting in the bus with his fellow students, one of the police officers driving them home since Aizawa was rushed away to the hospital with his injuries
Meanwhile, All Might escorted Midoriya to Recovery Girl, partially in worry for his apprentice and partially to escape Vali's questioning. Not that it would work since he'd just drag the man to Sorahikos place after making sure Midoriya's alright.
Seriously there is something wrong with that kid, he seems so smart but can never read when to attack and when not to.
Then again if his theory is right then the kid was taught by All Might so that makes sense…
His Uncle's a shit teacher.
Dammit he's gonna have to start training Midoriya to know how to fight now, isn't he! Instead of him just throwing sloppy punches he'll need to help the kid find his own style and how to use it effectively as well as battle tactics and-
Ugh, God, this kid's gonna be a pain in his ass
"Valentine…?" He raised an eyebrow as he turned to the voice, his Vice President being the one to speak as they rode the bus to the school again
"Yaoyorozu? What's up?" Most of the class had passed out when the bus started moving, the day's events knocking them out. The only people still awake were those with either the willpower to stay awake or experienced enough to be awake.
Which basically amounted to Todoroki, Bakugo, Yaoyorzu, Iida and himself.
"Your spear… where did you get it?" She frowned as she spoke, clearly annoyed that she couldn't work out how He'd pulled a spear out from literally nowhere. It doesn't help that they'd all seen the spear disperse into water as they were getting on the bus.
He hummed, looking down at the gold bracelet on his wrist.
"She's called Gungnir and she's a Glaive." He corrected softly, the girl getting a bit flustered but accepting the correction for what it was "She was made for me by an old family friend whose quirk let him hide objects in other objects."
He saw her eyes widen as he thrust his hand into the walkway between the seats, water flooding off of his arm as Ascalon took shape. He smiled as she burned, the annoyance at being woken up for nothing radiating from her before eventually settling down and going back to rest.
"Ascalon was hidden in one of my Mom's old bracelets and was forged from a special, one of a kind metal which is why the blade is red and blue." He explained, dismissing the blade back to its hidden form.
"A special metal?" He heard her mutter, disappointment lacing her face as he got rid of the polearm
"The person who made Ascalon was called Wayland, an exceptional Blacksmith who sadly died a few years ago." He started explaining the cover story He'd created "Waylands Grandfather was the man who create the metal Ascalon is forged from, you see his Grandfather had a quirk which allowed him to bestow a power onto any inanimate object he touches."
He watched her eyes widen and he could understand why. While it was a common power in Earthland, people often gave their children their magic if they were capable of it, on this Earth has the ability to give something- anything a quirk was revolutionary
"Powerful right?" She nodded her head "Sadly the toll on his body was extreme and he died extremely young."
The news froze the girl and he could feel the others in the bus tense at the words as well. What? He doesn't care if they're listening in or not, it's not like the story is even real.
"However, before he died Waylands Grandfather grabbed all the steel he had and placed a multitude of powers on it. The steel Ascalon's made of makes it so only I can wield her, if anyone else tried they'd find her too heavy to pick up." He admitted "She's also extremely sharp, a facet mostly of Wayland's amazing blacksmithing but his Grandfather made it so the metal is nearly indestructible. If you've ever played a fantasy game or something then imagine that Ascalon is forged out of mithril or something."
She wasn't, Mithril is a bitches metal.
Okay, maybe it was the strongest metal for a human to work with but Wayland called it child's-play and was insulted when he first brought it up to the God.
"Long story short, Wayland's father ended up losing a Ton of the empowered steel so only a bit was left. Inevitably Wayland was born and took over the forge however his health wasn't the best, so he decided to do one final commission and used the final drops of the metal to forge Ascalon for me, using my mother's bracelet as an alternate form for her to hide in when I don't need it." He finished explaining, ignoring the burn Ascalon gave him for calling her an 'it'
"I-I see" Yaoyorozi muttered out, shock on her tone. If he had to guess she'd never heard of anything like this which would definitely be surprising for everyone to hear since surely a guy like Wayland, his father and grandfather would be rich or famous? But they aren't. Mainly because they don't exist in this world but even if they did he doubts Wayland and any family he did have would be famous, the god was prideful, sure, but that was only in regards to his work. Other than that Wayland basically never left his forge and when he did he kept to himself
Basically, Wayland was a loner.
And a nerd.
A huge nerd
Well, a huge nerd when it comes to forging things that is.
Honestly, now that he's thinking back on it, Wayland kind of reminds him of the stereotypical high school nerd. Like, he always took on the form of a teenager, he never left his forge unless he had to, Vali's also pretty sure the God had never had a shower a day in his infinite life…
Okay, It's a good thing the Gods all have their own palaces and sub-dimensions otherwise Wayland would probably be living in his Ebus's basement…
'Sorry Way, any respect I had for you has gone' He mentally apologised to his Godly friend, hoping the prayer would reach the God across dimensions
(In a Universe where the Gods still mourned their latest champion, a teenage boy hammering away at a forge paused in his work and looked to the sky. A frown crossed his face as distant words fluttered into his ears and he mentally wondered. What the fuck had he done to lose Vali's respect? His sword buddy used to have so much respect and awe for him so why was he sudden;y so disappointed? 'Vali?! VALI?! ANSWER ME! WHYYY?!')
-/-
"Toshinori?" He watched as the larger man shook before his small, toad-like mentor (Wait a God-damned minute why is there just Star Wars references everywhere and why did I never notice this?! What the fuck?!). The small man narrowed his gaze and turned to Vali, who looked on neutrally.
"All Right Brat, why is Toshinori at my door? What's happened?" He sighed at the man's tone, strict and annoyed as usual.
"It'd be for the best If we go inside Sorahiko." The old man's eyes widened at the use of his name, having grown used to the barbed nicknames they shared with one another. Sorahiko's eyes narrowed further, turning into little more than slits before turning and guiding them both inside.
Leading them to the table, Vali forced All Might to sit next to his master while he sat opposite them both in the classic interrogation style. It'd be for the best to keep both of them in his field of view to catch onto their reactions and shared looks, he doesn't know how many slight tells they'd made to avoid this conversation if they had any, to begin with, that is.
"Alright, are you gonna get on with this or not brat, some of us have delicious snacks to get to." He rolled his eyes at the senior citizen's complaint.
"When were you going to tell me that Toshinori could pass on his quirk." He spoke plainly, taking in the moment Sorahiko tensed and Toshinori's jaw clenched. "And when were you going to mention you passed on a Deviant level Quirk to a student who had no formal training or ability. When were you going to tell me that you passed your quirk on to Izuku Midoriya, a formerly Quirkless boy"
They sat in silence for a few moments, the two men shifting their bodies and talking with their eyes. Vali watched it all in silence, attempting as best as he could to read the conversation they were having and while he's sure he got most of what they were saying - which was mostly 'how did he know?' and 'You fucking idiot, Toshinori' - before eventually one of them gave out
"How did you figure it out." Sorahiko sighed, accepting his fate while Toshinori frowned. "Don't get me wrong, I'm annoyed that you did figure it out, we've been hiding this knowledge for years but… haaa, knowing you like I do kid if we even attempted to tell you a lie you would out us."
"It's actually quite smart how you hid it." He admitted, sighing himself "But for someone who wasn't raised in this world it was obvious. To everyone else, they were raised with the knowledge that quirks cannot be passed on, it's just not possible. They're raised with this knowledge from birth until they die and they'll never believe anything else unless it's shown to them personally. Meanwhile, I don't have that indoctrination. Where I come from people pass on magic all the time, it's just the way things go. Magic will be created by one person and given to the next, who'll improve it and that cycle continues until the magic is forgotten."
He paused allowing them a minute to think
"However here the facts are different. I came to this world with a blank view and question. If any of my other guildmates arrived you'd have gotten away with it but some of us are too smart for our own good and question everything. All Might's quirk is considered a Deviant level, something that has a 1 in 2 Billion chance of happening. No deviant quirk ever recorded has been anywhere near similar to another Deviant quirk user, now All Might sudden;y visits Musutafu one day and runs into a random kid, with the exam same quirk as him at the exact same level as him and takes him under his wing, teaching him all the same moves he uses and clearly favouring him above everyone else in the class he'd then go onto teaching." He explained, eyebrow-raising higher and higher as Toshinori shrank into himself.
"I… can see how you made the connection there…" The blonde man squeaked out under the annoyed stare of Sorahiko and amused one from Valentine
"Not only that but the fact he breaks his bones every time he uses his quirk? Plus the fact that Bakugo admitted that Midoriya was quirkless up until the end of middle school, where he was coincidently meeting you every day? The facts just speak for themselves. I hadn't noticed until now because I didn't pay the kid any attention, he was just another Kid whose issues I'd eventually iron out and fix eventually but now his importance has skyrocketed." He admitted, lacing his fingers and laying his arms flat on the table
"If my theory is correct, you're probably going to start losing your quirk-"
"One For All." Sorahiko interrupted. "The name of the quirk is One For All, OFA for short"
"OFA then." He nodded his head, thanking the man for the information. "As I was saying, If my theory is right then you'll be losing whatever you have left of OFA right?"
"Yes, the flames of my power are flickering out" Toshhinori explained.
"Weird example but okay." He hummed, ignoring the man's hurt look and Sorahiko's chuckle. "Anyways, that just means you have to be more careful when using OFA, you need to lay off the hero work, you're now in Mustuafu, The safest place in the country besides Kyoto, the amount of Heroes here means you don't have to work and can focus on using your power to teach Midoriya."
The man didn't look happy at his words but reluctantly nodded. He sighed
"Think of it this way Toshinori, would you rather keep going at the same pace you are now and then suddenly be unable to use your quirk, letting the world go without All Might when they're not read?" He began "Or would you prefer to slowly move yourself out of the picture and allow the other heroes to shine and get used to you making rare appearances, letting them get ready for the flood you'll create when you finally retire"
The man was put off by his options but confessed that the second option sounded better than the first
"Anyways onto Midoriya." He began, getting Toshinori's attention immediately. "The kid can't control OFA at all, his bones are breaking and he'll reduce himself to ash soon if he continues, not only that but he looks up to you far too much for it to be good for his progress, he also has no fighting skills to speak off, his situational awareness is frankly horrible, his sense of danger more so and the fact he can't see when to attack and when not to speaks for itself in regards to any battle tactics he may have"
"That not fair-"
"I could fight better than him when I was 5 All Might, this kid needs help that, frankly, you aren't capable of helping him with." The man deflated. Once again, he sighed. He's been doing that a lot lately. "after the Sports Festival we'll be getting our sponsorship things right? Good, can you apply to take him as an apprentice Sorahiko? He'll need some serious improvement and while I can start him on the basics he'll prefer to learn from his mentors-mentor before his fellow classmate"
"I see" Sorahiko hummed, sighing once he finished thinking "You want me to manipulate the boy into thinking you're a good teacher to learn from, his idolisation of All Might will carry over to me and then to you once he knows what you're capable of"
Toshinori looked offended at the idea of manipulating his student.
Vali grinned.
"I knew there was a reason I liked you, gramps." He cheered "But yeah, that's it. Honestly, if you can just get him to control OFA then I can do the rest, training his battle senses and tactics will be difficult but UA has training rooms for that sort of thing, the most annoying thing to deal with right now is teaching him how to fight."
He turned to Toshinori, a sour look on his face.
"I knew you were a shitty teacher but serious? You didn't even try teaching the kid how to throw a punch! Let alone bring up the fact that his body type is so different from yours that straight-up punches aren't gonna be his thing?" He sighed "C'mon Toshinori, are you saying that every attack you make is the exact same as your predecessors? I did my research on Nana Shimura and her fighting style was more defensive than your own attacking style and any attacks that the internet has of hers are so different from your's it's uncanny. Are you really gonna let this kid go out into the world, basically screaming 'I'm All Mights Successor' and let the thousands of enemies you have go after him all at once?"
"I.. figured he'd find his own style during his high school years… I did" The man mumbled out, looking put-off with the conversation
"Yeah, you also had amazing control over OFA at his age." Sorahiko butted in, scoffing at the man
"You two are just naturally different ALl Might, like me and Natsu" HE explained softly, using his old guildmate as a reference "Like Natsu, you're not the brightest bulb in the box but fighting comes naturally to you, you could be given a random quirk, in a random area against a random villain and come out successfully because it's natural to you, you're a fighting prodigy in that sense."
He paused, growing.
"Midoriya is like me. He analyzes everything he can from his enemy and makes a counter-strategy for them, however, Midoriya doesn't have the experience or talent to pick up everything and put it to use. Even when he fought Bakugo, his childhood friend, he'd only picked up on his right hook and nothing else. Midoriya hasn't yet gained the ability to passively analyse, he has to dedicate his entire being to analysing something before being able to use it against them and when he does get that information, he doesn't have the skill or fighting style to use it effectively." He broke down, closing his eyes as he recalled every decision he'd watched his green-haired classmate make.
"When I start teaching Midoriya, I'll be working on his analysing skills just as much as I'll be working on his fighting skills. It'll be the most important skill a person like Midoriya can learn." He finished his speech, locking eyes with Toshinori and sighing.
"You're a good guy Toshi but you're not teacher material, your knowledge and experience will be amazing for Midoriya but anything you teach him just won't work, you're too dissimilar. He'd have an easier time learning under principle Nezu than yourself" The man looked down, face crinkled together "Don't get me wrong, I want you to be there for our lessons, You'll be amazing in showing Midoriya what to do but you need to leave the teaching to us if you want Midoriya to actually survive becoming a hero."
And Boom, done. Chapter 7. You may be wondering, why did Kurogiri and Shigaraki still get away? The answer is... well plot convenience mostly but also because Vali got sloppy and doesn't really care if they reappear or not. He knows that he can kill them at any moment he wants to and that they're not challenging in the slightest, as far as he's concerned, these guys were just cocky thugs who thought they could kill some kids. When h learns that AFO is behind Shigaraki then... well things will kick-off.
Now, the middle of this chapter is kinda slow for me but I had to write it, if no one questions where Vali just got this massive fuck you glaive from then it'd be ridiculous, so I had Momo ask him and had Vali give a BS answer. God all these lies are gonna kick him in the ass when they eventually find out he's from another universe entirely and that he's been holding back agains't them all this time.
Finally, we have the final conversation, I probably haven't done it justice at all but this is just the way I see that conversation going. Sorahiko has spent far too long with Vali to know that telling a lie will just motivate him to make a bigger effort in outing their lie and trusts him enough to let him in on the secret. The fact he can protect Toshinori's protege and train him better than the man himself helps him a lot, he also sees Vali as a kind of protege as well, knowing that if All Might dies before Midoriya leaves the school then he has Vali train him and his successor. And Yes! Val will finally start training Midoriya, sadly that'll start after the Stain Arc but that's only a couple of chapters away.
Also, who should Vali intern with? Should he be at Hosu? I have thought about what to do but idk yet, so I want y'alls opinion as well.
Anyways, See ya!
Khaos!
