Chapter 24

Izuku pulled the spear out of the wall it embedded itself into. Melissa was behind him standing by the edge. He wrapped it around himself. "We're so high up now." Melissa said while looking down toward their friends. "We're close now. Just a bit higher." Izuku reassured her.

The two began ascending the stairs. They had to do this.

Izuku was in front again leading the two as they moved a bit slower than they had before. They were being a bit more cautious due to their loss of numbers. As they continued running they ran into two guys with guns. Instantly Izuku held Melissa back so she didn't just run out.

Quickly he popped his left hand around the corner and shot off a firebolt toward the unsuspecting villains. Of course, it didn't quite do the job but Izuku then rushed up the stairs and knocked them both out with a well-placed kick.

Floor 200. They were there. Just a bit further and then they could save everyone.

They both realised this but something unexpected happened.

"AHHHH!" Izuku's head shot around to look at the screaming girl. Standing behind her was another villain with swords for hands. He quickly pulled out The Divine Knife and shot over to the man. The man swung his hand but it wasn't fast or strong enough to hit Izuku who was bouncing around and dodging.

'What the hell is this? He's like a fucking rabbit!' The villain thought as the red eyes passed by him multiple times. Before it sunk its fangs in him. The blade had cut down his entire left leg and stabbed him in the foot. Before he even got the chance to scream an uppercut knocked him clear out.

"Are you okay?" Izuku panicked as he looked at her injury. There was a deep gash on the back of her right leg. Blood was pouring out with no sign of stopping. Izuku ripped off a piece of cloth from his suit. Quickly he wrapped a bit of the white shirt around her leg and it was instantly dyed red.

He wrapped her arm over his shoulder and helped her up. The two started moving at a much slower rate. Melissa was guiding the two toward the security room but they both stopped as they heard voices come from another room. "That's the vault!"

They both went that way because if the villains got their hands on any of the things there it would go from bad to worse. As they got closer they could hear what they were saying. "Sam go take the device out of the storage."

'This voice.'

The sound of something opening filled their ears. They took a quick look in and saw Sam and David in the room.

"I'm glad you went along with the plan of hiring these villains." Sam said.

Izuku's eye widened at this. The David Shield hired villains. But before Izuku could even think anymore on it. Melissa escaped his grasp and limped over to the doorway. "You're lying!" She shouted into the room. David and Sam looked over to see the blonde girl with tears in her eyes.

"There is NO way you did this! I refuse to believe this!" Melissa shouted once again. Izuku was standing behind her. Disgust was clear on his face.

"Please Melissa you don't understa-" David's words were cut off by his daughter's rage. "NO ITS YOU WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND! Because of you, there are students! ACTUAL students fighting villains! Did you ever stop to think how I would react! Imagine if mom was still here! What the hell would she think!"

"All Might is losing his quirk!" David shouted back breaking Melissa out of her blind rage. "This device boosts quirk activity. I'm going to give it to All Might and bring him back to his peak. Bring back the strongest All Might. And the villains aren't even real. Their just actors." He said.

This brought back the rage from earlier. Melissa grabbed the now entirely red cloth from around her leg and yanked it. "Actors you say. They certainly seem like real villains." She said and lifted the cloth into the air. "And have you seen the garden! There is a massive Midoriya sized hole in it."

"These are not actors." As she says these words Izuku feels something from behind him. He shoots over and pushes Melissa out of the way. Only to then get swallowed up by a rush of metal. The rush drags him through the room and slams him into a wall where he gets buried in the metal.

"Welp jigs up I guess." The man with the metal mask walked in with a smile on his face. "How'd you like my acting. I think I did a good job. But I guess that's because acting as something you do every day is easy."

"Wolfram, what are you on about?" David says. Then Sam ran over to Wolfram and handed him the device. "Sam, what the hell are doing?" David said staring at the back of his balding friend.

"Do you have any idea what it's like to be me!" Sam shouted. His rage caught everyone's attention. "Everything I make goes to you. Everything I do is yours. And you can't even get the money for this. We are slowly losing our jobs and you're just letting it happen!"

He would've continued if a bullet hadn't been planted into his back.

"T-this wasn't part of the deal."

"What deal! Did you forget you were working with villains?" Wolfram said while laughing. He raised the gun again and planned on killing Sam. But he failed as David jumped in the way. Wolfram finally stopped laughing.

"What. You trying to play hero now. No, nono you don't get that chance. You committed a crime like the rest of us. No matter what you do now YOU'LL BE BURNING IN HELL WITH ME!"

Melissa fell on her back and looked up at the clearly insane man in front of her. He quickly regained his composure. And sighed. He pointed the gun at her. But stopped. Coming from the wall where he crashed Izuku into a light seemed to be shining.

"FIREBOLT!" A muffled voice shouted the word. And as it did a flash of light consumed the pillar of metal. Izuku walked out of the rubble. As he did more flames shot toward Wolfram but the man managed to bend some more metal to place up a shield from the attack.

But that wasn't the attack. No, the attack came from the side.

Melissa plunged the dagger Yaoyorozu gave her into the man's side. Using the gun he smacked her against the face. She fell to the ground. A big red mark on her face. "You're not getting away with this!" Izuku shouted as he released the spear from his grip.

Wolfram realised that spear was dangerous. He shot two pillars of metal toward it but they clashed neither one making any headway. Using the metal Wolfram grabbed David and started riding it out of the room.

Izuku ran over to Melissa "You okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine, go after them. I'll get the security back to normal."

"But your leg."

"I said I'm fine. Now go!"

Izuku ran out of the room and began following the trail left by the blood. He ran through the endless hallways. Until he arrived at a door with a breeze. He saw on the ground in the doorway was the bloodied dagger Melissa was using. He ran through it and was now outside.

There was a helicopter ready to take off. Thankfully David wasn't in it yet. Without thinking, Izuku raised his right hand and shot an electrified fire at the tail end of the helicopter. The attack stopped it from taking off ever again.

"You're not getting away!" He shouted.

"Oh, and you think you can stop me."

"It doesn't matter if I think I can or not. What matters is doing." He said as he readied The Divine Knife. A pillar of metal shot toward him but Izuku managed to dodge. The Divine Knife cut through the metal. But Wolfram noticed something. 'How come I can't do anything to that knife?'

Izuku landed on the pillar and began running across it. He raised his left hand and shot the flames out. "You really are a one-trick pony." He said blocking the flames in the same way he had earlier. Izuku cut through the metal with The Divine Knife.

Using his left foot he blasted himself to the side of the half-wall of metal and slammed his right foot into the man. However, before he could recover and move away. Izuku was sent flying by a pillar of metal. He slid to a stop and looked back up at the man.

But the ground below shot him up into the air. Two more pillars came toward him and began crushing him between them.

"Midoriya! I've freed everyone!" Melissa shouted from the doorway.

Wolfram turned his attention to her. "DAMN IT!" He shouted. "IF YOU HADN'T FOUND OUT THEN THAT FUCKING PROFESSOR WOULDN'T HAVE FIGURED ANYTHING OUT!" His rage was overflowing.

He sent a pillar of metal toward Melissa intended on killing her.

"Firebolt!" Izuku tried to save her but his flame got snuffed out before he got the chance to use it. He could feel the bone in his left hand begin cracking.

David watched as a pillar was aiming straight for his daughter. Tears in his eyes as he realised he was about to lose the last of his family.

'Orion! Please save her!' Alyssa's voice resounded in his head. But Izuku couldn't do anything. Even if he managed to get out he wouldn't be fast enough.

Melissa saw the attack coming. But her feet wouldn't move. She was stuck in place watching as her death came closer and closer.

It was like time had gone into slow motion. She could see Wolfram smiling behind the attack.

She closed her eyes and accepted that now was when she passed on. She hoped that Midoriya could at least save her father.

…

But the strike never landed.

She opened her eyes slowly and saw the back of a man wearing a crimson jacket that matched his hair.

Standing in front of her was none other than Welf Crozzo. Holding onto a red blade which's heat melted the metal in an instant. "Glad I got Todoroki to help me up." His usual smirk on his face.

The entire pillar had melted so he pointed the sword at Wolfram. And swung it.

The flames burned away everything in their path. And they were barreling toward Wolfram.

He made a metal wall in front of him but the heat never struck it. Instead, they were aimed at something else.

One of the pillars holding Izuku melted away freeing the teen. He landed and rushed toward Wolfram and stabbed him in the leg. Then he kicked him in the side of the head. Wolfram's body fell and he seemed to be knocked out.

Izuku helped David up and walked over to Melissa and Welf.

David immediately hugged Melissa. "I'm so glad you're safe."

They had done it. They saved the island.

He was glad she was safe. And although she didn't say it she felt the exact same way. He turned back and faced Welf and Izuku. Both of which were smiling. "Thank you both so much for helping my daughter."

Izuku saw it first the look on David's face. He went to turn around toward the villain but stopped when he got pushed out of the way.

An indescribable sound of flesh being torn apart was heard from all on the roof.

Melissa's scream.

A shout of rage from Welf.

And an evil cackling.

These sounds rang through Izuku's ears.

It was then he realised what had happened.

A small sharp line of metal had penetrated David's chest.

Exactly where his heart was.

Izuku landed on his backside and looked at the dead man lying at their feet. Exactly where Izuku had been not even a minute ago.

Thousands of emotions began running through Izuku at once.

He had failed as a hero. Someone was dead.

Because they were protecting him.

He rushed over. On his knees sitting next to the body. His body was still warm. But it was quickly losing heat.

Izuku looked over at Wolfram who was still laughing. "Guess he didn't mind the idea of being in hell with me." He said through his laughs.

Rage filled Izuku as he stared at the man. There was no remorse across his face. He was wearing the device that David wanted to give to All Might.

He stood up and met the eyes of the villain.

"Hey kid, no need to go about looking like you're gonna kill somebody." The rage filled every part of Izuku's body and mind.

He took a step toward the man who slowly began steaming. His skin started glowing a light red. Which matched Izuku's eyes.

"I'll make you pay." Welf said now standing beside Izuku. His red blade pointed toward the man.

"I'd like to see you try." He said as the metal began swirling around him. He seemed to be lifted up by the metal.

Just at that moment the other students arrived on the roof and looked on at what had happened.

Yaoyorozu and Uraraka ran over to check on David and were shocked when they realised he was dead. Jiro was crying. Kaminari and Mineta tried not to look. Todoroki and Iida both looked like they wanted to kill a man.

Izuku placed The Divine Knife back in his holder and pulled the spear from his back. Both teens wielded legendary weapons. "Hold him back for 3 minutes." Izuku said to the group. Iida, Todoroki and Welf nodded.

A single thought was all it took for Izuku to be fired up. He opened his eyes once again and standing there in front of him was Alyssa who was now crying. He stepped forward and past the ghost. "I'll stop him." He didn't hear her respond but he knew his words meant a lot to the woman.

A white light covered his hand.

Iida shot forward and kicked a pillar of metal flying toward him. He quickly ran up it and destroyed more pillars as he went.

Todoroki was doing the most damage as his ice covered the metal then shattered it. But his flames were rather useless.

Welf was focusing on defending Izuku. Using the power of his magic sword to do so.

Yaoyorozu in a fit of rage gripped onto the blade she had made which was a lot like Ais's one. She ran forward and leapt onto a bit of metal. She began running up it in a way very much like Ais herself.

After doing the internship with Ais. Yaoyorozu had done a lot of research on the hero. From online fights to training lessons. Yaoyorozu was copying how the woman moved. How the woman fought.

She almost made it to the man but got stopped by a bit of metal blocking her path.

Ring! Ring!

A bell sounded through the rooftop.

Everyone turned to the brightly lit teen. Who simply looked up at Wolfram.

He stepped forward.

Pillars shot toward him but Izuku stepped out of the way. And again.

The rabbit boy was too fast. They couldn't even touch him. He picked up his pace until he was in a full-on sprint. He dodged pillars like it was the easiest thing he's ever done.

Wolfram then condensed a lot of metal to create a massive black cube. However, despite death staring him straight in the face in the form of a cube. Izuku was undeterred, he knew what he had to do.

His legs prepared and he launched himself onto a pillar and ran up it. Two more pillars shot toward him on the thin path. With nowhere to dodge. Izuku was bound to be hit.

As his fate approached him a shout rang out.

"Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall!"

A massive amount of ice shot up and defended the green-haired boy.

Izuku continued his run-up. Not stopping to catch his breath even once.

But the pillar he was standing on began to shake. Izuku noticed and leapt up to the air. With nowhere or how to dodge Wolfram released the cube toward Izuku.

The bright light from Izuku's hand then quickly began invading the spear.

The metal on the spear began tearing apart and a golden sheen took over the weapon. Izuku could feel it. The rage, sadness and every other emotion within the spear was spreading through his body as readied himself.

The blue twinkles of power changed too. Becoming a golden colour.

It was then he realised this wasn't a spear. Like he thought it was.

It was an arrow and his arm was its bow. He threw the weapon. The arrowhead was leading the charge.

The golden arrow collided with the cube. The two attacks met like two forces of nature. The screams and cheers coming from behind Izuku seemed to push him forward.

The cube split in two but the arrow had lost its momentum. Neither attack reached the other.

Izuku had lost.

Wolfram laughed.

But just as he celebrated his victory there was one more with the fire of hatred burning within gunning for him.

The red-haired teen was above him with the help of Iida.

He held the magic sword above his head as he spoke.

"This is for David! YOU BASTARD!"

He swung the blade down toward the man who had just clocked his presence.

"BURNING MOON! KAZUKI!"

A ball of blistering flames shot out of the blade and conquered the man. A scream of pain roared from Wolfram's lips as he was devoured by hell itself.

The weapon Welf used shattered.

But the fight was over. For real this time.

Izuku landed and ran over to Melissa and David. But as he arrived someone else did too.

The door burst open and All Might walked in. He saw the corpse of his friend and he looked around as he searched for the man who did this. But his eyes were drawn to the pseudo-sun on the roof.

"We stopped him." Izuku was the first to address the bulking hero. His eyes seemed down to the hero.

All Might didn't say anything. He simply walked to over his friend's still crying daughter and embraced her. Her head was buried in his chest. So she didn't see but Izuku saw clearly.

A steady stream of tears rolled down All Might's face.

All the teens surrounded the group and finally, All Might spoke.

"I'll take the fall for you all."

All Might was going to go downstairs and tell everyone that he stopped the villains. But that also meant that he had failed to protect his dear friend.

But despite that. Noone dared deny this of the number 1. He couldn't help in the fight. He couldn't save his friend. But he could protect the teens from the harsh punishment that surely awaited them.

He walked back through the door while the rest of the teens were told to stay there.

They stayed.

And they mourned.
