Magical Potential
Magical potential is how powerful someone can become with the proper training. One major scale is accepted worldwide with just the words translated into someone's own language.
Typically someone is only tested for their magical potential for jobs or medical reasons. Only Magere Akademi require a specific magical potential to be enrolled at the school. The tests are usually done by a medical professional or the Goblins. This is done via an invasive spell or a blood test. Only Magere Akademi has utilised the means of testing someone's Magical Potential in the form of a globe. They have so far refused to tell anyone how these globes work or were developed.
The Worldwide recognised scale for someone's magical potential is:-
Magic level - Colour - English - Norweigan
10 - Grey - Muggle/Unaware - Ikke-magi/Uvitende
25 - Pink - Squib/Aware - Tennkrets/Klar
50 - Blue - Witch/Wizard - Heks/Veiviseren
70 - Green - Spellbound - Trollbundet
90 - Orange - Magi - Magere
110 - Purple - Warlock - Veiviser
130 - Silver - Mage - Shrant
150 - Gold - Sorcerer - Trollmann
Someone's magical potential is privet, and a blood test is the only way to determine the actual number score. Anyone who is just a witch or wizard is considered weak by magical standards. Anyone from Spellbound to Magi is considered average magically. Anyone from Warlock over is considered magically powerful.
How Magical Strength Affects Schools
Magical Strength does affect how students are taught in school. For example, suppose you have most of the school population with only Weak or Average Magical Strength. In that case, you will cater your curriculum to those students. Sadly, doing so without help means that students with more magical potential won't reach it as they have not been challenged enough.
However, only catering your curriculum for students with higher potential won't help those with lower potential. Those of lower potential would simply be unable to perform the spells, and it would appear as if they had no magic. Instead, they would end up with repeated magical extortion. And while that would not leave them without magic, it would affect their schooling and job prospects in the future.
The best schools will have a balanced curriculum or separate classes for the higher and lower magical potential students. Kennecott, Uagandou and Merlin Academy all have individual lessons. While Arwindale Academy, Castlebruxo, Koldovstortz, Se Ridica, Mahoutokro School and Kyandouru Shinjuku all have a balanced curriculum managed in the same classroom.
On the other hand, Ilvermory, Euro-Glyth, Hogwarts, Dumstrang and Beauxabtons don't have a balanced curriculum. Instead, they cater more to the lower potential students. Euro-Glyth and Ilvermory do advertise this, while the European Triad does not. Rather, they like to attract higher potential students, although it is never stated or officially written down. The British purebloods do this on purpose to damage the higher-potential students. If their children are found to have a higher magical potential, they are given extra training to stop this. This is all in a bid to make themselves seem more powerful.
The final schools, Nyx School of Magic, Kennecott Academy and Magere Akademi, do not have balanced curricula. It is catered to higher magical potential students. Their schools are advertised as such. While Magere is the only school with a test due to the Repository. However, Nyx and Kennecott have ways to ensure that as few lower potential students get into their schools as possible. Those who manage are given the materials needed to study independently with only a slight professor's help.

Reaching your Magical Potential
A magical, magical potential continues to be reachable until around 21. However, anyone attending the likes of Hogwarts would never reach their full magical potential unless it was that of a Magi, depending on the work they went into.
No school has a curriculum catering specifically to Mage and Sorcerer students. However, all schools except the European Triad have lessons prepared to help these students reach their magical potential. These lessons are taken in the last years of that school. They teach some of the most potent versions of different spells. They are what sets Mage and Sorcerer potentials apart from the rest of magical society.
A Sorcerer potential that only attended Hogwarts would maybe reach Magi or if they self-studied Warlock by the time they left. After that, it would depend on their work if they advanced to Warlock or if they were lucky Mage potential. But it would heavily depend on how much effort and self-study that person did at school.
Conclusions
Someone's magical potential doesn't affect if they can be treated magically by healers. But it does affect how considerable their magical gifts are. The more magical potential someone has, the more magical gifts they will have. Someone with the magical potential of Spellbound or Magi would have one magical gift. Someone who has the Potential of a Warlock would have two. Mage potential would leave you with three gifts, while Sorcerers would have four.
When it comes to becoming ungrounded for young magicals and magical creatures. The more powerful you are, the more damage the loss of control can cause. While this will always be the case for magical creatures. It is not the case for Humans who will, in time, learn to control their magic. However, all magical creatures can do is practice calming techniques and make sure they ground regularly.
As such, someone's magical potential only usually dictates what most powerful spells they can learn and how many magical gifts they have received. It is a small part of what makes someone strong and is not a shortcut to becoming powerful. That still takes hard work and training. It also needs the right mindset of being healthy mentally and physically.
