It was Sunday, January 17th, 1960 and Thomas Evans was sitting quietly in his brown La z Boy recliner pondering an important decision he needed to make.

He had a daughter due in a couple of weeks and he still hadn't picked a name for her. His daughter's due date seemed to have snuck up on him.

Now was the time to sit down and really think about it. Now was the time to go over potential names in his mind and choose a name for his daughter.

He had to give her a sweet name. A name that would evoke feelings of kindness and heart.

Mr. Evans pondered his decision for a few minutes and a few nanoseconds while going over his options in his head.

Mr. Evans loved flowers. He went over various flower names in his head. Rose. Violet. Daisy. Tulip. Flower.

Finally, Mr. Evans landed on the name he knew was prefect.

"LILY!" thought Mr. Evans to himself, "Lily is the perfect name for my daughter!"

Mr. Evans was very fond of flowers and the idea of naming his daughter after a flower held great appeal to him. He had gone over various flower names for his daughter in his mind before realizing that Lily was the name to choose. When Mr. Evans thought about lilies and what they symbolized, he knew in his deepest heart of hearts that Lily was the perfect name for to bestow upon his daughter.

"Lily is such a sweet and beautiful name, " thought Mr. Evans fondly, "And it brings to the mind and the heart the images and feelings of kindness I hope my daughter will grow up to possess in great qualities. "

Mr. Evans smiled as he thought about holding baby Lily in a few weeks.

"Lilies are flowers that symbolize purity and innocence, " thought Mr. Evans hopefully, "The thing that would make me most proud as a father would be if could have a child who is truly pure hearted. I give my daughter the name Lily out of fondness and hope. Fondness of the name's sweetness and the feelings it evokes and hope for what my daughter will grow up to be."

Mr. Evans had a warm, glowing feeling engulfing his heart. Becoming a father was the most meaningful thing in Mr. Evans's life.

Baby Lily couldn't arrive soon enough. Now that Mr. Evans had named Lily, he couldn't wait to hold her.
