Harvey Macavoy was in a confused emotional state.
Harvey was standing out on his backyard lawn at nightfall as thoughts of the best and worst month of his life raced through his mind.
He was a grieving man, but he also felt warmth and excitement in his heart.
Just yesterday, he had lost his beloved sister, Heidi Macavoy.
Unlike so many witches and wizards of his era, Harvey didn't owe his bereavement to Lord Voldemort or Bellatrix Lestrange.
Instead, Heidi Macavoy had lost her battle with brain cancer.
Harvey had known this loss was inevitable for some time now, but he wasn't at all prepared for the punch to the gut that his sister's actual passing had given him.
Heidi Macavoy wasn't just Harvey's sister; she was his best friend. Harvey and Heidi had been inseparable all their lives.
Memories came flooding back to Harvey as he reflected on his sister's all too short life.
He thought about all the times he and Heidi had had broom races and played one on one Quidditch against each other in their backyard on their shiny yellow brooms.
He recalled those many summer days when Heidi had bought him ice cream with her own allowance money when ice cream trucks had passed by their home.
He remembered his numerous summertime instances of swimming with Heidi in their bright yellow bathing suits
The Sunday mornings he and Heidi had ridden their vivid yellow bikes together around the block.
Harvey could not take in that he would never fly a broom, swim in a pool, or ride a bike with his sister ever again.
Tears came flooding down Harvey's cheeks. These tears had a burning sensation in them as the fact that his sister was truly lost and gone forever sank in on him.
It wasn't just what they did together either.
Harvey felt terrible sadness as the images raced through his mind of Heid's smile and the sound of Heidi's now forever silenced voice echoed in his ears.
And then there were the hugs. No one ever gave more genuine hugs than Heidi Macavoy.
On a scale of 1-100, Heidi Macavoy's capacity for love and affection was an indisputable 100.
Harvey let his tears flow and let himself feel his sadness. He needed the release.
After a few minutes of letting his emotions out, Harvey's mind turned a much happier emotional subject.
Harvey's dearest wish was on the verge of becoming reality.
In a week's time, he was going to be a first time father. He had a daughter on the way.
Harvey thought to himself about how the birth of his daughter was going to be the most meaningful and emotional moment of his life.
He had always looked forward to the day when he could call himself a father. Nothing meant more to Harvey than the opportunity to have and raise a child.
That day was now fast approaching.
There was still one order of business to complete. Harvey had not yet chosen a name for his daughter to be.
Harvey didn't mind that he had taken a long time to choose a name. There was no need to rush it. And Harvey had feared that if he did rush the decision, he might get it wrong. Besides, knowing the inevitable, his recent focus had been on the last days of his sister's life.
Now, the time to decide his daughter's name had come.
The perfect idea came into Harvey's mind. It came suddenly, but it also came confidently.
"Heidi!" shouted Harvey out loud, "I shall pay tribute to my fallen sister and keep her name and memory alive by bestowing the name Heidi on my daughter."
It was fitting too, because Harvey hoped his daughter would be the same kind of person his sister had been.
Harvey's utmost wishes now were for a daughter who share his sister's upbeat attitude, zest for life, and loving nature.
Somehow, someway, a sense of warmth radiated through Harvey's heart. It was a warmth born of confidence.
He just knew that, somehow, someway, Heidi Macavoy was going to be like Heidi Macavoy. His daughter was going to live up to the name he was giving her.
As Harvey finalized his decision to name his daughter Heidi Macavoy after his sister Heidi Macavoy, the essence of mixed feelings came crashing down on him.
As he thought about the recent loss of his sister and soon to be gain of his daughter, Harvey pulled his wand out his right hand pocket with his right hand and raised it towards the sky.
Harvey performed a few nonverbal spells and shimmering white letters appeared in the sky. These shimmering white letters reflected exactly the mixed nature of the way Harvey was currently feeling.
The message currently lighting up the sky read:
Goodbye Heidi and thank you for everything. Hello Heidi and know that I love you.
