Brandon Bones had come to work early. His coworkers hadn't arrived at the office yet and he was free to think in peace and silence.
He was sitting at his desk pondering an important decision.
In about a week's time, Brandon Bones would be bearing the reasonability of fatherhood for the very first time.
But he had a right and a responsibility that came before that day came.
That right and responsibility was to name his upcoming daughter.
Brandon sat and thought. How should he proceed with the process of naming his daughter.
The first step was to choose an approach.
After a minute and a nanosecond, Brandon was sure of his approach.
He would name his daughter based on what he wanted her to grow up to be.
The character trait that Brandon most valued was hard work.
He hoped his daughter would be a child of great work ethic and then grow up to be an adult of great work ethic.
He wanted a daughter who put all her effort into doing her homework and doing it right and he even hoped his daughter would be the type who did extra reading and studying beyond what her school would require.
He then wished for a daughter who would grow up to be a nose to the grind hard worker all the time.
He didn't care what occupation his daughter chose. That would be strictly up to her.
So long as she always gave her all to whatever she did, so long as she always gave 110%, Brandon would always be proud of his daughter.
But what to name her?
Brandon gave ten minutes and ten nanoseconds of silent and careful thought to handful of names he thought might fit.
In the eleventh minute, he settled on what to name his daughter.
His daughter shall carry the name of Amelia and be Amelia Bones.
The name Amelia meant work.
Given that his utmost value was hard work and that that work ethic was thing he most hoped to instill in his daughter, what better name to bestow upon her than a name that meant work.
Plus, Amelia sounded like a serious and formal name and that was a big plus for the businesslike manner in which Brandon had lived his own life and now hoped Amelia would live her life.
He wasn't going to tell his daughter what to do with her life. He would let her choose her own path.
The thing Brandon was going to instill in his daughter was pouring everything into anything she did.
As such, Amelia, being a name that meant work, was the perfect fit for Brandon when it came time to name his daughter.
This was his firm and final decision. He had taken his time and given it his thought and was sure he'd come to the right decision.
His daughter shall be known as Amelia Bones.
"Amelia Bones, " said Brandon to himself, "I can't wait to raise you. You're going to live a successful life, I know it!"
