It was a hot one hundred degree July day and Scott Spinnet was casually sitting outside in the middle of his lawn in a white folding lawn chair.

Scott loved the heat. He was naturally fond of hot weather. Moreover, the outdoor heat seemed to simulate his brain.

In merely two weeks, Scott had a daughter due.

This was, of course, a very joyous thing. But Scott also now had a right and a duty: naming his daughter.

After soaking up the hot summer air for a few minutes and a few nanoseconds, Scott thought about what character trait he valued most.

This was easily answered.

Above all else, Scott valued honesty. He believed in truth every time all the time.

Scott Spinnet believed that you never lied to get yourself out of trouble, that you never lied to protect a person's feelings, and that you never lied to placate someone.

For Scott Spinnet, honesty and truth were the purest and core most values.

And then, after a bit more thinking, it came to him.

"Alicia means truthful, " Scott thought, "I shall name my daughter Alicia in the hope that she will always be an honest and truthful person. If there's one thing I'm going to instill in my daughter from the instant she's on this earth, it's truthfulness."

Sometimes, being truthful comes with cost to oneself. Sometimes, the truth will sting another person's feelings to the core. Sometimes, admitting the truth can a be gut punch to oneself.

But, at the end of the day, truth and honesty are always more important than pride or feelings.

Since being truthful was at the heart of Scott Spinnet's world, a name that meant truthful was truthfully the best fit for a choice for a name for his daughter.

"The biggest truth now, " thought Scott, "Is that the moment Alicia Spinnet comes into this world will be the most joyful moment of my life."
