Harry Potter was sitting in the Three Broomsticks having a one on one meeting with his godson, Teddy Lupin, a meeting held at Teddy's request.
As Harry and Teddy both took sips from warm glasses of butterbeer, Teddy told Harry, "I have a MAJOR announcement!"
"What is it?" asked Harry eagerly.
"In a couple of weeks, I am due to become the father of boy-girl twins!" said Teddy excitedly.
"That's wonderful," said Harry warmly, "Congratulations on becoming a dad. I know three times over that there is no more deeply personal experience than the experience of becoming a father. I'm sure you'll be a great one."
"Ahead of my son and daughter coming into this world, " said Teddy matter of factly, "I have to choose names for my children. Both were remarkably easy decisions for me. I am bestowing my son with the name of Remus and my daughter with the name of Dora. "
"That's perfect, " said Harry approvingly, "You are paying tribute to your dad and mom by naming your son and daughter after them."
At this point, Teddy looked Harry directly in the eyes.
"Harry, " said Teddy sincerely, "I want to truly thank you for NOT using the name Remus for any of your children. I know the relationship you had with my father, and I know it might have meant something to you to name one of your children Remus. Yet, you did not. You told me years ago, and have told me several times since, that you were saving the name Remus for me, to use for my son if I ever had one. Now that it has come to pass that I am going to have a son, I can't express how much it means to me that it will be my son that carries on the legacy of the name Remus."
"You, and you alone have the right to use that name, just as the name Fred was reserved for George and George alone, " said Harry fiercely.
"Growing up orphaned is hard, " said Teddy as a few tears now rolled down his cheeks, "But I know and appreciate who my parents were and what they did. I can sometimes hear my dad's voice echoing through time saying, "Others will tell him what his mother and father died for, one day, he'll understand." Well, I do understand now. The fate and future of the entire Wizarding World, and for that matter, the world as a whole, was hanging in the balance when my parents paid the ultimate price fighting in the second war against Voldemort. Naming my children after my parents is the best way for me to honor them."
"Your mom hated her full name, " Harry reminded Teddy.
"She did, " agreed Teddy, nodding, "That's why I'm not using the full name. I think Dora is a very sweet name and I think mom would like it."
"Did you consider naming your daughter Tonks?" asked Harry curiously.
"I did, " admitted Teddy, "But Tonks felt too awkward to me as a first name. Dora sounded loads better."
"I think the combination of the names Remus and Dora for the twins is beautiful, "said Harry.
"You know, " said Teddy thoughtfully, "My dad and mom died so that others may live in a better world. The timing of their deaths was tragic, as they had reconciled not too long before their deaths, but they fought because they believed in fighting for something bigger than themselves. "
"The Battle of Hogwarts remains one of the saddest days in history, " said Harry in a melancholy voice, "So many wonderful people were lost on that day."
"The best way to pay respect to those people and the sacrifices they made is to keep their legacy alive. As the only child of two of the victims, who is having boy-girl twins, I am in a position to do that and keep the Lupin line going at the same time, " said Teddy softly.
"I can feel how much this means to you, Teddy, " said Harry respectfully.
"I see it as both my right and my responsibility to carry on my parents' legacy, " said Teddy matter of factly, "But, I'm also feeling very emotional in and of itself about the fact I'm on the verge of being a father. I had wanted a child. I didn't care if it was a boy or a girl, I had just wanted a child. To be able to be a father to boy-girl twins, I'm a very lucky man indeed."
"It's hard to believe you're grown up, Teddy, " said Harry brightly, "I can remember when you were a baby. To see the baby I'd been named godfather of grow into the man you've become is a really satisfying feeling."
"You were a great godfather. Harry, " said Teddy gratefully, "You were there for me without overstepping your bounds. It really puts in perspective how thoughtful you are that you never even considered naming either of your sons Remus and thought ahead to letting me keep that name alive going forward."
" Congratulations, Teddy, " said Harry warmly, "I'm sure you can't wait to hold Remus and Dora."
"I can't wait to hold Remus and Dora, " smiled Teddy.
