Andrew Kirke was in the gym lifting weights.
The adult Andrew Kirke had a very muscular physique and could regularly lift three hundred pounds with no problem.
Andrew was really into exercise, working out, and physical strength.
That was only fitting, as the name Andrew meant strong and manly.
Andrew was also an emotionally strong man, having literally never cried once he exited babyhood.
But, as Andrew finished this weightlifting session, he remained seated on the bench, feeling very emotional, not in a negative way, but in a profoundly positive way.
Andrew had a daughter due in a matter of days. This was a source of both great pride and great happiness for Andrew. But it also meant he had a task to complete; namely, naming his daughter.
There were a lot of good name choices out there. And there were a lot of girls' names that Andrew liked.
Andrew pondered whether he would just pick a name he liked or whether he wanted his daughter to possess a name with a specific meaning behind it.
Andrew easily concluded that he would gift his daughter with a name with a very specific meaning.
What was the one thing he hoped his daughter would have more than anything else? Strength.
Andrew yearned for a daughter who would be physically strong and muscular, just like he was. His heart also wished for a daughter with emotional strength, one who could keep her head held high in the face of adversity and her face tearless in the face of sadness.
Andrew would teach his daughter the importance of exercise and physical fitness from a young age, though keeping in mind that he couldn't overdo it with a young child. He would set a good example for his daughter by being strong in the face of adversity and by never crying in front of her.
The question was choosing a specific name. There were many names for both boys and girls that meant strong.
Andrew sat still on the bench, lost in his own thoughts, and reflected upon this important decision for ten minutes before reaching his final decision.
"While I had a multitude of good options available to me, I have ultimately concluded that my daughter will be known to the world as Valerie Kirke, " Andrew thought to himself calmly as he reached his final decision, "Valerie is one of the girls' names that means strong."
Sometimes, a man had a sensation that was almost like a light bulb clicking on in his brain that he just KNEW a certain decision was right.
Sometimes, a man had a feeling wash over his heart that was indescribable but told him his feelings were right.
And then there were the times when both things happened at the exact same nanosecond. Andrew had just experienced one of those times.
Andrew felt his insides glow as he thought about having a daughter who would bear a name that meant strong.
He got goosebumps thinking about becoming a father that were further amplified by his decision to name his daughter Valerie.
Andrew had loved the name Valerie all his life.
Now that he knew that the name Valerie had the meaning that he wanted his daughter's name to carry, Andrew was sure in his truest heart of hearts that he'd made the right choice.
Andrew Kirke could sense, could feel in this moment what Valerie Kirke would ultimately become.
Valerie would become a strong girl in every way possible, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
"Valerie Kirke, I can't wait for us to be strong together," said Andrew to himself as he finally got up off the bench.
