Ernie Macmillan's son came into the world on an incredibly significant day in the Wizarding World.

The day was May 2nd, 2008, the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts.

The battle had been costly with countless lives lost on both sides.

The Battle of Hogwarts had ended with a decisive victory for Dumbledore's Army and the Order of the Phoenix over Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters, ending the Second Wizarding War.

Ernie had decided to wait to see when his son was born to finalize his naming decision.

He knew his son's birthday had a chance of falling on the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and if it did, he had a specific name in mind.

Ernie's son had come into the world at 5:55 A.M. on May 2nd, 2008, the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. As such, Ernie would be following through with his naming plan.

"I have chosen a name for my son, " Ernie told the nurse who was holding his son's birth certificate, "My son shall be known as Vincent Macmillan."

"Very well, " said the nurse, starting to fill out the birth certificate, "But why Vincent?"

"Today," said Ernie in a serious and solemn voice, "marks the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. Well, the name Vincent means conquering, winning. "

"So?" asked the nurse, "Naming your son Vincent is a tribute to how Dumbledore's Army and the Order of the Phoenix conquered Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters at the Battle of Hogwarts and ended the Second Wizarding War?"

"Yes, " confirmed Ernie quietly, "But it is a bittersweet tribute. Many were lost in the Battle of Hogwarts. Yet, our triumph paved the way for better days ahead that the Wizarding World started to experience almost immediately afterwards and is still benefiting from today."

"Are you conflicted?" asked the nurse.

"No, " said Ernie more confidently, "It is an honor and a tribute to become a father on the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. I want my son to have a name that reflects victory. As the name Vincent means conquering, winning, naming my son Vincent is a fantastic tribute to that triumph."

"Would you still be naming your son Vincent if he had a different birthday?" asked the nurse curiously.

"No, " said Ernie matter of factly, "I intentionally waited to see when my son would be born, and not just generally, but the actual specific date, because I knew there was a chance his birthday would coincide with the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and if I did, then I would use the name Vincent, which means conquering, winning, as a nod of respect and acknowledgement to the importance of that day."

"I really respect the acknowledgement you're giving to that day's victory while keeping the cost of that win in mind as well, " nodded the nurse.

"That's why there's a solemnness to this day, " said Ernie reflectively, "There can be no triumph without loss, there can be no victory without suffering, and there can be no freedom without sacrifice."

"Well said, Mr. Macmillan, " said the nurse in a low voice as she handed Ernie the completed birth certificate with the name Vincent Macmillan.

Ernie felt a few tears roll down his cheeks as he stared at his son's birth certificate.

Ernie felt it within himself.

He had the right decision in naming his son Vincent.
