here are some things to address: Magic, magic is cool isn't it? No! No the hell it's not! It's complicated and stupid in this world! And that's exactly why I chose to give Subaru magic lmao. Don't worry this isn't gonna be some power fantasy (god I hate those) He's just gonna have basic magic capabilities, stuff the average mage would have. Nothing close to Roswaal or any of the big magic users. Maybe if he actually trains through multiple chapters it would feel more deserved, but at the current moment Subaru is as strong as the average magic student... actually, he knows even less than that and doesn't come close to even having close to the same experience with magic. So at the end of the day he comes at a heavy disadvantage.
Here's the thing though, the magic type Subaru has doesn't really have a lot of examples to go off of, it's lacking is what I'm trying to say. So I'll have to take some creative liberties and make some spells of my own, course I'll do my best at making them seem like they're a part of the Rezero world. However I am at a major disadvantage when it comes to naming them cause I'm not Japanese which wouldn't matter either way as I'm pretty sure the names are all just made up words. I'll try my best, though.

Evening
Subaru stared in front of him, it took a good couple seconds for him to really take in how huge this mansion really was. It had four floors and four towers on the edges and middle of it, along with a giant stretch of land most likely owned by that Roswaal guy the pink haired maid mentioned. In all honesty he was a bit scared to go inside, it was foreboding. To enter someone else's house filled with mostly strangers was one thing, but this was a giant mansion and he's some new guy who's basically just coming in unannounced. He looked at the maid in front of him, the blue haired one he hadn't interacted or seen yet. Her stare was kind of scary, as if staring right through him at someone else. Her piercing eyes nearly killed him, that was until he realized he'd been looking at her for the past couple minutes. He felt a cold hand on his shoulder, he recoiled a bit, remembering that weird interaction in the shadows. He looked over his shoulder, it was Emilia, she was rubbing her eyes. He gave a smile, maybe to divert attention from the gawking earlier.
"Alright Subaru, it's time to go inside, I assure you Roswaal wouldn't mind another worker!"
Subaru gulped, he nodded before following Emilia into the mansion. He gave that blue haired maid another glance, she was still staring right through him.
'...gosh, she's scary.. I hope the rest of the maids aren't like her-'
He thought to himself before looking away and entering the mansion, and as he did he was met to a rather, colorful figure. Infront of him stood what seemed to be a clown, or a jester? He had white makeup on and blue eyeliner? highlighter? Whatever you call it, he didn't know make up terms cause he never used any. Subaru wasn't going to say anything, but he wondered what such an extravagant person was doing here. Was lord Roswaal really in such need of entertainment for something like... this?...
"Ah, good evennnniiiinng miss Emilia, you are rather late arennnttt you? Ah, and with a guest toooo!"
"Good evening to you as well Lord Roswaal, well, as you see, Subaru here saved me twice today! I-ill get into specifics later but ad a reward he said he wanted to uhm.. s-stay here.. while working as a butler of course!"
"What an oooodd request, is it not? Well Subaruuu I will not shoot you doooowwnnn, you did save miss Emelia. You will officialllyyy be employed within my mansioioooon as of tomorrow. Rem and Ram my maids will geeeet your measurements tomorrow, just sleeeeep as of now."
'Its just those two who work here?! Oh my god! I- I'm gonna die from work! I'm dead!'
"Thank you Rosw- Lord, Lord Roswaal. Where is my room?"
"Ah, yes yeeees, Rem dear, won't you take your new cowoooorrrker to his room?"
Said Roswaal with a clasp of his hands and a smile. Subaru looked over to Rem, the blue haired maid. He gulped as he watched her nod and walk over to Subaru. Subaru, without a word looked at her, and then followed her when she began leading the way. Emilia waved goodbye to Subaru with a smile and Subaru waved back, smiling. However his smile soon faded when he was left alone in the halls of the mansion from Rem. It was so eerily quiet, and the only thing other than him here was the maid who had a death glare. He could feel her staring into him, it could melt him into a goo. Subaru decided he would break the awkward silence. He brought a hand up to the back of his face and tried his best to smile.
"Man! I nearly died today you know?... Uh, yeah well uhm... It was to, to uh, get the insig...nia back-"
Subaru was crumbling under the might of the world endingly silent silence and glare this maid was giving. Was something in his hair? Did he do something wrong? He was genuinely worried he had done something to piss this little maid off.
'God, why won't she just talk?'
"Well.. you're certainly the silent type huh? I used to be like that, in kindergarten I would just stick to the corner and stay by myself. I swear if I could go back in time I would tell myself how bad an idea that was! I grew up nearly completely without friends! You should talk more too, lest you wanna end up like me!"
He said with some sort of prideful look on his face for some reason as he pressed his thumb against his chest when he said "like me!". He looked over at the maid with one of his eyes full of hope Aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnddddddddddddd she wasn't glaring at him. It worked! You're awesome Subaru hahah- Suddenly the maid stopped and turned to the door.
"This is your room, Subaru."
"Oh, thank you Rem. Sorry to trouble you, now then I'm gonna catch some Zs. Good night!"
He gave a smile and waved good bye before opening the door halfway and entering it. Once inside he pressed his back against the wall and fell down to the ground with a loud audible sigh.
"Thank god!.. that was so hard-"
"...You have found Betty's library, I suppose."
"WOAH WAHAT"
Subaru startled, jumped up back to his feet and looked in front of himself. He was in a giant library and in the bookshelf row in front of him sat a small girl with two giant twirly pigtails to her side. He pointed to her.
"What are you doing here?! Wait, what am I doing here?! That maid must've sent me to the wrong room!"
He said loudly as he turned around, grabbed the door handle to the door in front of himself, turned it, pushed the door open and left the room. Of course closing the door behind him.
'Wait! I should've apologize!'
He quickly opened the door again and set one foot inside.
"I apologi-... what?"
Subaru said as he looked inside the now completely normal room. No giant library, no small girl sitting on a stool. No one was inside, well, except for him. Subaru closed the door bewildered as he looked through the room...
"There goes my sanity."
Said Subaru as he sat down on the edge of his bed and sighed as he hunched over. He closed his eyes and just sat there, he wasn't thinking of anything in particular or special. He rubbed his eyes and leaned backwards to have his upper body be laying down on the bed. He brought his hands up to his face and rubbed his eyes as he removed his hands and looked up towards the ceiling with a blank expression.
'Did I make the right choice?... It doesn't seem too bad.. but...'
He sighed as a few images shot through his mind. He quickly however shot them down and pushed himself fully on his bed, of course he took his shoes and jacket? Pullover? Whatever the thing he's wearing is called. He wrapped the blanket over his body and turned to the wall while closing his eyes. He tried his best to fall asleep, but as he gently drifted off to sleep he couldn't shake the feeling of being covered in hands, being felt all over by grasping hands. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he was always being watched, he peered into the abyss her white glowing eyes peered back.
Morning
Subaru woke up to a knock on his door. He groggily pulled the warm and soft blanket off himself and felt a small push of cold air breeze against his skin. He groaned and rubbed his eyes as he stood up from his bed. He could just barely keep his eyes open from how tired he was, he didn't know why exactly he was so super tired but it sure was killing him. There was another knock on the door, this time more firm and loud. Subaru ran a hand through his hair as he put a smile on and walked over to the door. He wondered who it was at the door as he placed his hand on the doorknob and turned it. As he opened the door he would see a hand reach over to him and knock three times against his chest. He looked over at the perpetrator, it was the blue haired maid. She retracted her arm and looked up at Subaru.
"Good morning Rem! As of today we'll be working together right? I'd say I'm excited but in all honesty just thinking about working as a butler for this massive place exhausts me~"
"Are you the type who enjoys leeching off others for their own benefi-"
"Wha?- No! Not at all! I will do my part of this job! You think too low of me Rem, give me a chance won't you?"
Rem made a small sound, something like a scoff but not really as loud. Subaru looked at her and shrugged as he followed her into the dressing room. (Or whatever it's called, really don't remember) Subaru kind of just stood to the side while he watched her gather the supplies needed. He didn't know why the blue haired maid had such a. large distaste towards him, he was still trying to get along with her but it really didn't seem like it was going too well for him. He sighed, if he had really just ruined his relationship with a fellow coworker of his working here wasn't going to be too good for him. Subaru noticed that the maid was done, and was now in front of him. He's seen people get measurements for personally tailored clothes before, so he just did what seemed normal. He stretched his arms out so that he would be in a T-pose before he watched the maid begin measuring him.
Subaru had only noticed now but a girl that wasn't his family hasn't ever been this close to him in a long, long time... not even just girls.
'when was the last time I was hugged?..'
Subaru's rather self doubting look and demeanor changed quickly when he noticed Rem lean a bit closer than what was comfortable and sniff him. Subaru was extremely confused and flustered as he flinched. He had a struggled look as he tried to form connections between words to speak but he wouldn't be the first one to speak.
"Rem would find it preferable that you stay still."
"Ahem, right, sorry."
With a fake cough he got back into position as he wondered just what the hell this girl was doing. What zone is he even in? Talk about mixed signals, these weren't just mixed they were damn blended together! Subaru closed his eyes as he just hoped she'd be done by now, but unfortunately for Subaru it'd take a few more minutes before she was finally done. Subaru sighed our of relief and took a step back before wiping his forehead which was already devoid of sweat. Subaru looked over and saw the blue haired maid turned away, fiddling with some supplies. Subaru remembered that he himself used to fiddle around with clothing. Maybe he could remember a thing or two, he was quite prideful in his skills in making clothes. Though, maybe its better to just have faith in the blue haired maid.
Sighing Subaru looked over at the blue haired maid, who was now staring at him. He should really be trying to fix his relationship with this girl if he's gonna be working with her.
"You may leave now, Rem can handle the rest. Try your best not to hold big sister back."
"Ouch, you're really pulling at my heartstrings Rem! Whatever could I have done to deserve your disliking?"
Rem looked even more angry than she already did. She looked away and went back to working on Subaru clothes.
'...Wrong course of action, why cant I just out more points into Charisma? Man, if only this was an actual game..'
Subaru sighed at his own shortcomings before leaving the room, he wondered what he should do. Or really, where the hell he should go. He remembered the blue haired maid mentioned going to the kitchen. The pink haired one would be there according to her sister, maybe she wouldn't be as cold as the blue haired one? Subaru could only hope for such a gift, but he doesn't even know who the God of this world is so he can't really ask them for anything... that's not how that works is it? Subaru began walking thought he hallways of the mansion, he wasn't sure how someone was supposed to get used to this. Everything looked the same to him, but, even so hopefully heard learn his way around this place.
After a couple minutes of checking random rooms Subaru would eventually find himself inside the kitchen. There was no possible way he wasn't late, but its his first day he's excused right? He looked over, and just as the blue haired maid had said, the pink one was here. Her back was facing him, as she appeared to be peeling potatoes. He walked over trying his best not to sneak up on her, before he tapped her shoulder. She jumped back a little, seems like despite Subaru's best efforts he still frightened her.
"There you are! Where were you?"
"Sorry sorry, I was getting measured by your sister. And well, she didn't lead me here so I had no idea where to go. So I just kinda... opened doors until I got here."
"...Right, okay, just peel potatoes and don't burn anything."
"I'll try my best."
Subaru looked around, he saw a basket of potatoes on the counter. Now he just needs to find a peeler. Yet, even though he looked through the drawers he couldn't find a peeler.
'That's.. odd. Did they not have potato peeler in medieval times? But they seem so simple to make.'
Seems like all of Subaru's experience with helping his mother goes out the window, he really needs to get someone to invent a potato peeler or something. Well, as it was back to ground zero Subaru took out a small yet very sharp knife from the drawer. It can't be that different than a potato peeler right? Subaru however was quickly proven wrong at just how different it was, as he immediately started off by cutting his thumb. He dropped the potato and the knife, the knife nearly skewering his foot as he held his thumb in pain.
"Pathetic."
"Ow- Do you guys have band aids?"
'Do those even exist yet?..'
But luckily band aids in fact do exist in this world, as he saw the pink haired maid open a cabinet and pull out something that looked similar to a tissue box. She took a band aid out from the box and walked over to Subaru, holding it in front of him. Subaru kinda stated at it in confusion.
"What? You don't expect me to do everything for you, do you Barusu?"
"Right, wait my name is Subaru not Barusu."
He said as he took the band aid from the pink haired maid and applied it to his not very deep but still bleeding wound. He then looked at the maid again, she was straight back to work... which was, just peeling potatoes. But still ample work and certainly better than what Subaru had added to the team so far. Subaru aighed as he quietly took the knife out and began begrudgingly peeling potatoes.
About an hour had passed of mediocre potato slicing, Subaru had accumulated ten more slices and his hands were covered in band aids. The pink haired maid was unimpressed, probably the opposite actually. Those potatoes probably touched more blood than water. Subaru looked tuckered out and disappointed in himself.
"Have you ever worked a day in your life?"
"...uh.. no I have not."
"Then why would you ask to work as a butler?!"
"Well how else was I meant to stay here? You guys wouldn't just let me stay here without working would you?"
"You saved miss Emelia, Lord Roswaal would've easily let you stay"
" o h . Well why are you saying this now? If I ask to be a freeloader now I'll look like a lazy jerk!"
"I'd rather your broken masculinity be at risk than you bring us down with your slow work effor-"
"H-hey don't bring my masculinity into this! I never even mentioned anything of the sort!"
"Hmph, your overbearing pride prevents you from learning from your mistakes."
"..Well, maybe you're right. But hey for my first time I did peel 6 potatoes!"
"In an hour, also, Barusu look at your hands again."
"Oh right- man I suck so much-"
The pink haired maid looked away while closing her eyes, she seemed rather angered at Subaru. Which he himself didn't really understand, he just let it slide and hunched over before sighing.
"Instead of whining and feeling sorry for yourself learn from your sorry excuses. You really are pathetic Barusu."
"What type of motivational speak is that?! I feel more demotivated than anything!"
"Well then maybe that's a fault of your own Barusu."
She said with a hmph as she looked away once again, with an annoyed look and all. Subaru couldn't believe people like this actually existed in the real world, not that Ram wasn't nice to be around. She's the nicer of the two, and at the very least she's trying to help Subaru.. in her own degrading way. Subaru dried the last of the dishes as he put the stuff he (mostly Ram) had cooked on two plates. He watched Ram pick the two Plates up before walking to the door and looking at Subaru.
"Oh? What's this?" He asked mockingly as he walked over to Ram with a smug look, his arms were crossed as he looked down at her.
"Little miss pink needs he-"
"Just open the door! I clearly don't have three hands!"
Subaru didn't really expect this out of the girl. She looked.. genuinely hurt as she looked at him. So she can insult others but can't handle a bit of teasing herself? Subaru sighed and obliged, he opened the door and held it open for Ram to leave the kitchen.
"You really suck the fun outta it yknow."
Subaru commented as he left the kitchen and closed the door behind himself as he walked along side her to assumedly the dining room.
"So uh, Ram, how long have you been working here?"
"..Lord Roswaal brought me and my sister here since we were children."
"Children? Wow you've really put your effort into this. I didn't realize until now but you and your sister are the only workers here aside from me aren't you?"
"You are correct in that."
"Wow, how do you two manage it all on your own? This place is giant!"
"My sister makes up for her lack of magical abilities in daily housework... she works very hard."
"Magical abilities? Oh yeah, I kind of forgot there was magic in this world..."
"This world? Why do you say it like that?"
"No reason, none at all... Anyways, if your sister does most of the work here, what do you do?"
"..."
"Uh, do you defend the mansion with magic?"
"..Yes, though not any better than that of my sister."
" O h . well aside from that, you asked me just to bring two plates. When will we be eating?"
"After Lord Roswaal and miss Emilia finish eating, then we will take our own plates to our rooms and eat."
"Oh, I see. I guess that makes sense, but all that working made me really hungry."
"Really? Peeling 6 potatoes made you that hungry? You never seem to stop surprising me with your patheticness."
"Hey! I was just joking, I haven't eaten anything since yesterday!"
"Simply be patient and you'll get your own serving, if you didn't ruin the taste of the food that is, Barusu."
"All I did was peel them! If it tastes bad it'd be your fault Ram."
"Weren't you the one who covered them in your own blood."
"...R-right- Whatever we're here!"
"Speak when spoken to, Barusu."
"What?"
Ram didn't say anything else as she looked at Subaru again. Who promptly realized again that she didn't have any open hands. He nodded and grabbed the handle to the left door as he opened it, walked inside and held it open for Ram. When Ram left the hallway and entered the dining room Subaru gently closed the door as to not let it make any loud sounds. When he turned around he Saw Emilia smiling as she quietly waved to Subaru from her seat, he also saw Lord Roswaal at the table. He gave Subaru the wrong impressions when it came to, well, everything. He also couldn't help the little blue haired maid who was glaring at him from across the room. Seems like she's still as angry as can be. Ram walked over to the opposite side of Lord Roswaal's chair. Seems like he'll have to stand at the other side of the table. He walked over and sat, lone by himself at the end of the table. Seems like Ram had also noticed her sisters hateful glare towards Subaru.
"Hellooo Subaru, I hope work wasn't too hard on you. You seeeee, there's something important I wish to speak to you about. Miss Emilia herrreeeee is someone veeerrryyy special, she is a candidate to become the next ruler of Lugnica. That insignia that you retuuuuurrrned to her would have lost her role as candidate, you did a veeerrryyy honorable thing Subaru. And for that, I believe you deserve a reewaaaaaard. One wish, anything you would waaaaaaaaant. You don't have to teeeeell me now, you can think about it. Juuuussst remember it Subaru."
"Oh, awesome. I think I'll save it for later. Thank you, Lord Roswaal."
"No problem, no problem at aaaaaaall Subaru. Now then, allow us to eat."
Night
Lord Roswaal and miss Emilia had finished eating, Subaru looked out the windows just to see that it was so dark that it was like a mirror. He was also feeling tired, hopefully this day is gonna end soon.
"Well, thaaaaaaaank you all for your time, you are dismissed."
Subaru sighed out of relief. He turned to one of the doors to leave but he was interrupted by Emilia as she stepped in front of him with a smile.
"Hello Subaru"
"Oh, Emilia! It's good to see you after I'm finally."
"How are the maids treating you?"
"Good enough, Rams been relatively nice.. in her own way, but uh, the blue haired one is kinda scary. She doesn't talk much and she just kinda glares at me. Actually, I think she's glaring at me as we sp-"
"Hey, Subaru those are mean things to say. Rem probably just doesn't easily trust people. How was work?"
Subaru sighed, he was so ashamed, defeated Subaru lifted his hands up and spread his fingers out presenting all the band aids to Emilia. He could almost hear hear her snicker. But then suddenly he heard a worried gasp... but then, who snickered? He looked over just to see Ram with a smug look on her face, holding a hand over her mouth as she giggled. Great.
"Subaru! You need to be more careful! Look at your hands!" She said as she grabbed his left hand and rubbed on of the band aids, she was very concerned it seems. For, whatever reason.
"I know- But well I applied to work here didn't I? And well, this just happens... Man if only learning was easier."
"Subaru! I don't want to see a single extra cut on your hand tomorrow! Take care of yourself okay?"
"Oh, uh, sure thing. I'll try my best!"
"You'd better!"
"Well, I'd best be going now, good night Emelia."
"O-oh right, good night Subaru."
Emilia smiled and nodded, Subaru smiled as well and nodded too. He walked over to Ram who was politely waiting for him, that's rather out of character. He more so expected that he would see her trying to run away so Subaru would get lost. But the blue haired one conveniently happened to be gone. Who could've guessed...
"Finish embarrassing yourself Barusu?"
"Yeah yeah, quiet. Just take me to my room."
They walked through the hallways, it was oddly quiet. Subaru looked out the windows to no avail, it was too dark to look outside. A few more minutes passed, Ram was looking at him for some reason.
"Huh? What's up?"
"Shouldn't you be talking?"
"Whaddya mean Ram? I know I talk a lot but I can be quiet to-"
"No, you know what I mean Barusu. Did you do something to Rem?"
"Rem? Oh, your sister.. uh, no not really. I think you should ask her if she did anything to me actually. I dunno why but she doesn't talk to me at all and only really glares at me. You noticed too right? When Lord roswaal and Emili- Miss Emilia were eating."
"..Unfortunately, you seem to be correct this time... I'll have to speak with Rem about it, but don't expect me to be able to change her opinion on you in one day Barusu."
"Well, either way thank you Ram. I really do appreciate it. I'll try n be better tomorrow"
"Yes yes, I'm not expecting anything of you."
"..I'd usually take that as a compliment but coming from you it more so hurts than anything else."
"Well Barusu, we're here. My sister will come in with your work outfit later after I speak with her. Goodnight Barusu."
"Oh, yeah, thanks Ram. And goodnight."
He said with a smile and a nod, something completely out of character is Ram returning that small smile with another smile. A tiny one, but a smile nonetheless. He entered his room and closed the door behind him. He looked at his bed, he sat down and laid his back down on the bed, his legs still on the ground as he sighed our of relief closing his eyes.
"Maaaaaaaan, I'm not ready for this haha."
He pulled himself off the bed and got under the blankets as he slowly closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Midnight
The door opened. A slow but loud creek came from it as someone entered the room. Subaru could hear everything, but he couldn't move or see. He tried his best at opening his eyes but he just couldn't. He heard footsteps slowly walk over to his bed side. The footsteps stopped. With some effort he managed to slightly pry one of his eyes open, a figure stood at the side of his bed, eyes focused on him as they watched him sleep. He saw their hand reach over to grab something but before they could do anything Subaru sprung awake from his bed. He was in a cold sweat as he confusedly looked at the figure. Heavy breathing.
"..Oh, you're awake."
The voice was familiar, not very familiar but something he had recently heard. It was the blue haired maid, he just kinda stared her in the eyes as his eyes slowly adjusted to the dark. And when he could clearly see again he inhaled deeply and began talking.
"..what- w-what the hell are you doing in my room?-"
".. Your suit, Rem finished it..."
"Oh... oh alright.. alright uh, just.. just drop it on the table..."
The blue haired maid nodded and looked at the small table next to his bed, she gently put the folded clothes on the table before looking back at Subaru. She was so quiet, yet Subaru was focusing on her so much that every sound she made was like a bomb.
"..Wha- what were you gonna do to me if.. if I didn't wake up?"
"...Nothing.. Rem was just going to check your temperature.."
"Oh...oh... oh alright, well uh... I'll.. I'm gonna go back to.. to sleep... uh... good night, Rem.."
Rem nodded. Subaru got back under his blanket and before Rem had even left the room Subaru had immediately fallen asleep. Maybe he should've stayed awake until she left the room but oh well, she just said she wasn't trying to hurt him... not like her words are only the truth.. let's just hope he wakes up alive the next morning.
Morning
Subaru woke up in the morning, he was covered in sweat. He had just woken up from a nightmare. He dreamed that he couldn't move his body and was stuck in his bed. Helpless to stop the looming figure above him from grabbing his neck and strangling him to death. He could feel the cold sensation on his neck from their hands. He could see their eyes empty of emotion, he could hear his lungs struggling for air. It was vivid, as if it was real...
"...Wait.. NO"
Subaru jolted iff his bed throwing the blanket off his face as he looked at the window. It was morning. He looked at the small mini table beside his bed, a neatly folded butlers suit laid upon its surface. Subaru felt his heartrate calm down as he breathed into his hands. Seems like that blue haired maid just wouldn't leave his mind.
'..I didn't think this was how a girl was gonna keep me up.. what a stupid joke."
Subaru laughed and smiled, with that dumb joke he got up and looked at the clothes that the blue haired maid had made for him. He picked it up and looked it bottom to top, front and back. After his inspection of the suit he tried it on. It looked good on him actually, and it fit him perfectly, seems like that maid really knows her stuff. He looked out the window, no one was outside but it looked great... wait no, Subaru made a double take and saw that the blue haired maid was outside, tending to the fancy looking bushes. Ram wasn't lying when she said her sister did most of the work wound here, it would've been more admirable if she wasn't so mean towards him.
Unfortunately it seems that the blue haired maid had taken notice of Subaru's gawking and was now staring right back at him. Subaru awkwardly panicked and grabbed the window blinds before closing them. Subaru wasn't quite sure what he was meant to start with, maybe cleaning? Cooking? Gardening? Shopping?.. What to choose first?
"Guess I'll have to ask Ram later.."
Subaru walked over to the door. As he grabbed the handle to open it he got an odd feeling, a sort of warm feeling in the ends of his finger tips. Subaru was curious and confused to say the least, with a heavy heart and a bit of courage Subaru pushed the handle down and pulled the door open. In front of him, he was once again met face to face with a small girl in a giant library. The hell? Subaru was certainly confused, he thought he was hallucinating last time but it seems like this girl actually exists.
"Well, I suppose we meet once again."
"..Uh.. and you are?.."
"My name is Beatrice, I suppose"
"..Cool, uh, my name is Subaru. And uh, before we continue this, mind explain how you managed to do... this?"
"Betty will not answer any of your questions unless you do my request." Subaru heard a loud slam and he turned around to see the door had been closed shut behind him somehow. "That would include your freedom, I suppose."
"...damn magic lolis.. Well then, what do you want from me?"
"Come over here and grab Betty's hand."
"That's it?.. probably not, actually."
He said as he hesitantly walked over to the girl and stood in front of her, that's one might high highchair. He reached his hands out and looked at the girl, he noticed something.
'... She probably isn't human. Another elf?, No, her ears are human. I guess I'll have to ask her lat-'
Before Subaru knew it he felt an intense electric shock course throughout his entire body. Like holding onto an electric fence for too long. Though quickly it would stop. Subaru closed his eyes and his lungs felt stuffed with nothing as he exhaled and quickly inhaled again. He took a step back and ripped his hands away from the girl.
'..no, definitely not human!'
"H-hey! What the hell was that about?!"
"Hm, no. I suppose you aren't here for that."
"..What? What's that supposed to me you electrocute me and then you call me weak? Didn't your mother tell you little girls shouldn't be insulting their elders?"
"Betty is no little girl! Betty is more than 400 years old!"
[Insert glass shattering noise]
"YOU'RE 400?!"
"Have you no respect for library rules? I suppose it's ought you're taught to be quiet."
Said the girl as she stretched her left arm out with a rather annoyed look, the door swung open and Subaru was shot out into the wall of the oppisite side of the hallway to his room. He could've sworn he heard his bones cracking, he rubbed his back as he grunted before getting himself off the ground.
'..Damn magic lolis..'
He looked out the window, the bushes looked well kept and the blue haired maid was no where to be seen. He walked up to the window because He had managed to see Emilia and her floating cat spirit thing Puck outside. Suddenly he felt a tug on the back of his neck as Ram grabbed him by the back of his suits collar, yanking him backwards and down to her own eye level. She looked angry at him
"Woah! Pinky has some fight in her!"
"Call me pinky and I am throwing you out of the window!"
"Oh okay okay, sorry Pinky didn't mean to get on your bad sid-"
And before Subaru knew it he had just been essentially karate chopped on the top of his head, which yknow hurts. He stretched his back back out straight and held the top of his head while going "owwwwww" Ram simply went "Hmph!" while looking away with an angered look, her arms crossed. Subaru after calming down looked back to Ram.
"Okay fine I won't call you that, a but a good nick name is always good!"
"Well that isn't what's important Barusu, you have to get to work now!"
"Right... Uh, I don't actually know what I'm meant to do."
"Really? I guess I do have to do everything for you! Well, you can start by sweeping the hallways, then clean the bathing rooms and then you may help my sister with cooking."
And she just kept going, eventually Subaru tuned her out until she was done. Ram had actually been done for a few seconds now, Subaru snapped out of it and responded to her.
"Oh, sure thing but uh... where is a broom?... and where's the bathroom?... and uh..."
"I get it, just find me and I'll show you, you slacker."
"Hey hey stop it with the insults this has nothing to do with my work effort.. now uh, if you could be so kind, can you show me where the brooms are?"
"Hmph, I suppose I must. Follow me Barusu."
"As you wish pin-"
Subaru fearing for his life stopped himself mid sentence as he saw Ram glare into his eyes with the wrath of a thousand suns. He simply just followed her, eventually they made it to a room. Ram turned to Subaru and began speaking.
"Well then Barusu, you'll find all the brooms here. You'd better do a good job Barusu, you don't want to disappoint Lord Roswaal."
"Of course of course. I'll give it my 110%!"
"That isn't ho-"
"It's a saying! Now off you go!" Subaru grabbed Ram by her shoulders and gently pushed her away, he waved goodbye and silently murmured "Bye miss pink" with a bit of a giggle, luckily miss pink herself didn't hear him. He opened the door and looked inside, even this room looked clean. Those twins really put their work in, he grabbed a simple brush and got to work on the hallways. He swept the carpet on the floors, all the dust and whatever else would become one big noticeable line and then he would sweep that up into a bucket he had grabbed with him. But while he was sweeping the floors someone rather unexpected came into view. It was the blue haired maid, Rem. Subaru kinda stopped Sweeping and just kinda looked at her. She as well stopped walking and stared at him. Not a glare of hatred, but just a stare. And honestly, to Subaru her not glaring hatefully at him was rather awkward.
Though she wasn't staring at his face or into his eyes, rather, for whatever reason she was looking at his hands. He was confused to say the least, but before either of them could say anything the maid snapped out of it and hurriedly walked past Subaru. Subaru watched her leave the hallway, he would see her occasional panicked glances back towards him...
"...What the hell is up with the women around me man..."
He mumbled under his breath as he got back to sweeping. He should ask Emelia about the girl in the library, she probably knows what's up about that... all his other questions however, would probably go unanswered if he didn't ask the people himself.
Afternoon
Nothing eventful happened while he was cleaning the hallways or the bathing room, though Ram did come to help him clean the baths. But now, he was sure that the fact that nothing eventful has happened would soon change since now he's gonna be working with Rams sister.. Subaru was pretty sure he remembered the way to the kitchen from yesterday, plus he walked past it a few times too. Subaru didn't know what to feel as he walked through the hallways to the kitchen, fear? dread? excitement? anger? He was really just worried if anything else. After a few minutes of walking, Subaru made it to the kitchen. He grabbed the door handle and with a bit of confidence he opened the door.
And when he did, he smell of the room almost blew him away. It was delicious, he was standing outside of the room and he was amazed at just what he was smelling. Seems like it must be Rem who cooked the stuff he ate for lunch. He looked inside, Rem was standing by a fire, stirring something a pot. Though she seems to have stopped because of Subaru unexpected entrance into the room, she was staring at him again. But quickly went back to stirring whatever was in the pot. Subaru walked inside the room and closed the door quietly. He was kind of confused on what to do, Rem really did seem to have it all handled by Herself. Subaru walked over and stood next to her, looking at whatever she was doing. He would notice her taking glances at him. Maybe it was time to speak up.
".. So uh, Rem, what do you want me to do?"
"..Rem needs to check on the rest of the food. You can stir this food, and don't stop."
"Alright.. if you need anything else just tell me"
Subaru began stirring the pot as instructed, he couldn't help but be almost entranced by the smell of the food. He was genuinely excited to try eating this food later, Ram was underestimating her own sister! So time would pass and Subaru would quietly do whatever Rem asked him of, eventually the both of them would get through the entire platter. Subaru would take out two freshly cleaned plates and neatly plate the food. He looked at the two plates of godsent food. He could barely stop himself from taking a was NFL
'..Damn that Roswaal! He gets to eat this stuff fre-'
"..Subaru.. May Rem see your hands?"
"h u h, uh, sure?"
Subaru stretched his hands out to Rem, was he gonna get electrocuted again but by this girl instead? He wasn't very worried though, Rem seemed to be nicer than yesterday and Ram did say she'd try to convince her otherwise. So he wasn't fully trusting of her, but he at the very least wasn't worried.. well, not much.
Rem looked at Subaru's hands, she grabbed them both and turned them around to show both sides to him. He didn't understand what she was trying to show since nothing was wrong with them. She then let go and looked up at Subaru.
"Haven't you noticed? Rem healed the cuts on your hands... shouldn't you be grateful to Rem?"
"Wait, yeah I don't have any cuts!.. Was that what you were doing last night?"
Rem nodded
"Well, I guess I'd have to say that I am grateful! But uh, I know this sounds mean but, what's with the sudden change? Yesterday it was as if you hated my guts but now you're being so nice to me."
Rem looked away, she had an uneasy look on her face. But eventually she would look at Subaru again.
"Rem apologizes, it wasn't polite of Rem to treat you as such."
"Ah, well, you didn't do anything. You only looked a little mean, so apology accept"
"...So, has Rem made it up to you?"
"Yes you have, its no problem really! Also, you've got to teach me how to cook your food smells amazing. Seriously, I can barely resist snatching the food off the plates and eating it myself. Lord Roswaal is so lucky, he gets to eat your cooking fresh!"
Rem had an ever so small smile on her face, what did Ram tell this girl? She's almost completely changed!
"Alright then, you open the door and lead the way I'll handle the food.. or actually, I don't want to to trip and ruin your food I'll hold the doors open for you instead."
Rem nodded and picked the two plates of food up, one in each hands as she walked over to the door. Subaru made his way over and opened the door for her, holding it open and then exiting the kitchen once she left as well. Subaru looked out the window as the two of them walked to the dining room. He could notice Rem looking at him occasionally, he was a bit fearful. The silence was awkward and Subaru wanted to lighten the mood so he began talking.
"Your sister says you're really good at housework, I can see that now... I can also see that she was very much so underestimating your work effort as a maid."
"Big sister is correct in that, but she is better than Rem.. praise her instead."
"Huh? Well, if that's what you choose to believe, but praise is given when praise is deserved. So I won't be stopping."
Rem looked away, she didn't respond either.. maybe he struck a nerve? Either way his attempt at making the mood happier failed, though that doesn't mean he'll stop trying.
"Well uh, again, thanks for healing my wounds. It does mean a lot to me, though did you really have to do it in the middle of the night?"
"..Rem was scared that you would not let her do it, so Rem did it while you were asleep."
"Ah, alright, that's kind of scary to think about."
"How so?"
"Well not now, but imagine a stranger comes into your room at night to do something to you. Course with context it's not scary."
"Rem understands, next time Rem will do it when Subaru is awake."
"Great, ah seems like we're there. Here I'll get the door."
Subaru grabbed the left door again and pushed it open, stepping inside and holding the door open for Rem. Now that he understands what too he immediately walked over to his end of the table and looked at Lord Roswaal and Emilia. Emilia again looked cheerful to see Subaru, Puck was also laying on top of her head. She waved at Subaru again with a smile. Subaru returned both the wave and the smile back to Emilia. He looked at Lord Roswaal, who was making direct eye contact.
'ugh.. this clown..'
"Sooo Subaru, how are adjusting to the joooob?"
"Uh, well enough I know where a few places are and I've started getting along with the maids too. So it's been going well."
"Goooood to hear, is there nothing eeeeeeelse you wish to ask me of?"
"Oh wait, now that you mention it, I uh, met the librarian."
"Ah, do you mean the great spirit beeeaaaaaatriiiiice? I hope she wasn't tooooo much a trouble."
"Eh. She was... fine. But you should start eating, don't want it to get cold!"
"Ah, yes that is truuuuuuee. Let us dine, thank you for the meal Subaru and Reeeeeem."
Subaru just kind of nodded. Yesterday he didn't have the time to really talk to Emilia but maybe after Lord Roswaal and Emilia were done eating he could go outside and talk to them. Subaru looked at Ram, then at Rem. They're both pretty interesting, but fun to be around.
Emilia and Lord Roswaal had finished eating, and indeed Subaru got to be on break for the time being. Probably not a deserved break as he sucks at this job but hey he's slowly getting better at it. Subaru was outside in the gardens, sitting down on the ground with Emilia standing besides him.
"I haven't seen you in a while Subaru! Is Rem treating you better? I sure hope she is, from what you said she most be right?"
"Yeah, she's nice."
"Subaru!"
Abruptly Puck came in out of no where, bumping into his forehead as he then dropped down into his hands.
"Thank you for saving Emilia! Yknow, I'll how to think of a good way of repaying you.."
"How about letting me pet you all I want?"
"Huh?! That's everything you want from Puck Subaru?"
"Yup, he's very soft. "
"Your wish is my command! Haha"
"More importantly I've been wondering, can everyone use magic or is it just a few people?"
"Oh! I'll take this one!"
Said Puck excitedly as he flew up from Subaru's hands to be face to face with him.
"Usually everyone at least has a magic Affiliation, it's all dependent on the size of your Gate of course."
"Gate?"
"Your mana pool! Mana is what lets you cast spells and if your gate is too small you won't be able to consistently cast spells!"
"Oh cool! So what types of magic are there?"
"Just four, fire water wind and earth."
"I see, how do I know which one I have then?"
"I can check for you hang on."
Puck flew closer to Subaru and did something to his forehead with his tail. He wasn't sure but it sure did sound like magic.
"Yang!"
"Yang? That's quite ra-"
"Yang?! Isn't that contradictory? You said there were four magic types and yang wasn't one of them!"
"Ok ok, wind, fire, earth and water are the basic 4 magic types. But there are two more rare special types of magic, yin and yang. Basically shadow and light magic."
"Oh I see, guess I lucked out haha. Well since it's so rare that must mean it's string right?"
"Well, yang magic does stuff like restoring items, making yourself or your allies faster, stronger etc. Oh and you can also shoot light rays from your fingers if you're good enough!"
"Would you say I'm good eno-"
"Absolutely not!"
"Aw, well at least I can fix things."
"Actually.. usually only people who are specially trained in that aspect of Yang magic can restore items."
"Okay I get it! No restoring things either... I can buff things right?"
"...Well uh, actually"
"God damn it what's even the point of magic if all my spells are advanced!?"
Said Subaru in a bit of frustration as he got off from the ground.
"I wanted to shoot fireballs or have lightning bolts shoot from my fingertips! I can't event buff myself.."
"Well, actually I know a beginner spell that yang users can start off with." Chimed Emilia in, trying to fix Subaru's absolutely shattered
"Actually? Hell yeah! What is it?"
"Solux, a spell that summons a small ball of light to, well light your way."
"..Oh, well, at least its something right? OK so how do I cast a spell?"
"Well, think about it really hard in your head. visualize your flow of mana and then visualize it releasing through your gate and then say the incantation."
"Alright got it I'll do it no-"
"Woah woah Emilia don't you think you should step away first? We don't want your clothes getting dirty if Subaru's magic accidentally explodes."
"Oh, yeah.. I probably should."
"Huh, whaddya mean."
"Well if you fail your magic explodes and a bunch of mana just shoots out from your gate, and it'll get Emilia's clothes dirty. So she should step away."
"Ah okay okay"
He watched as Emelia moved like 10 meters away from him.
"Woah how big is this explosion?"
"Very, anyways do as Emilia instructed, I'll help you out since this is your first time though."
"I'll give it my all captain!"
Subaru closed his and imagined as hard as he could. He imagined a literal gate, a fenced off square of land filled to the brim with some white gas. He imagined it pushing against the gate before it pushed it open exploding outside of the gate. He pushed his right hand out.
"Solux!"
And to Subaru excitement, a small little ball about the size of a tennis ball appeared in his palm. It floated about 5 centimeters above his hand but would stay in that position. He brought his hand closer to his face and the ball followed.
"Nice job!"
Said Puck excitedly as he clapped his hands. Subaru smiled as he had just changed reality to his will! Breaking all laws and forms of physics Subaru created something out of thin air. Subaru had officially,
"I CAST MY FIRST SPELL!"
Subaru threw his fists up in the air excited and happily as he smiled, a small victory but a victory nonetheless. He looked over to where Emilia was and she was running over.
"Great job Subaru! Really well done!"
She said with a smile as she gave him an applause. She almost seemed happier for him than he was got himself.
"Thank you! Haha! This may not be much but its a victory for me!"
"And when you get better you can cast stronger versions of Solux!"
"Really? Tell me about them, if you could."
"Mhm, of course! The next one is El Solux, a large explosion of light that only effects others, then there's Ul Solux which leaves a glowing trail leading to any item you're searching for, said item is also glowing! And finally there's Al Solux, which can make an identical copy of you made out of light!"
"Woah! When will I be able to do that?"
"With enough time and training you will be able to!"
"Not anytime soon haha~" Snickered Puck from the top of Emilia's head
"Hey that's not very ni-"
"Subaru."
"Huh? Oh Rem, what do you need?" Said Subaru, looking behind him as the little ball of light followed him. Rem noticed the ball and seemed to be in shock.
"You are a Yang user?
"Yeah, its all news to me though! I've never used magic before this! But, you haven't something didn't you?"
"Ah, yes, we are getting low on vegetables as well as other things. Rem is going to buy new ingredients, Rem was hoping you would join her."
"Oh, yeah sure of course why wouldn't I?"
"Oh you're leaving Subaru?"
"Yeah, seems like my free times up now. I'll meet you again later alright?"
"Alright Subaru, please make sure to be careful!"
Subaru nodded with a smile, Rem simply watched the two of them interact before Subaru turned to Rem and began following her to the town nearby.
"So then Rem, what exactly is it that were going to be buying?"
"Meat, vegetables, spices, fruits and oil."
"Ah.. well uh, there might be a slight problem. From where I come from, we speak the same language but we write and read a different one."
"So you cannot read or write?"
"Nope.."
"Hm, ask big sis, she may be able to help you with that. The less useless you are the better."
"Ow, do you have to be that blunt? You know you'll break a man's heart if you're so mean to him!"
"Then yours will be nothing more than a dust."
"Ouch, I think my heart may already be dust-"
"Rem will not be subjugated to your dirty thoughts, Subaru."
"H-Hey! I'm not some pervert! Though I must admit, it is quite hard not to appreciate your good looks."
"This is only going against you Subaru."
"C-crap- you're not even wrong.. Uh look at that! That must be the town!"
"Rem will not forget this."
"Haha I don't know what you're talking about!"
He said nervously as he ran into the town, he looked around and came to a stunning realization. He in fact, still, could not read. Th symbols and the glyphs were a completely different alphabet. He tried his best trying to make out what they said or what they were but uh, yeah you don't really just learn a language on the spot. Eventually Rem caught up to Subaru to his dismay.
"Oh hey you made it Rem."
Rem nodded.
Subaru pointed to the sign of the stall in front of him, Rem looked and then turned to Subaru tilting her head in confusion.
"It says vegetables."
"Oh, thank you."
"Rem forgot you couldn't read, Rem apologizes."
"No problem but uh... if I can't read what exactly do I do?"
Rem was silent for a second as she contemplated how the hell Subaru could be useful in this situation.
"...Hmm.. You can carry what Rem buys. Does that sound good enough?"
"Yes absolutely, lead the way Remmy!... No, absolutely not."
"?"
"Nothing, don't even worry about it just lead the way Rem."
Rem was confused but obliged to Subaru's word. Subaru however was stuck thinking about Remmy from ratatouille in a maid outfit. So that's great.
Subaru and Rem would go through the town buying random things they needed, unfortunately Subaru was being followed by monsters in the shadows. Rem hadn't noticed and wouldn't believe Subaru no matter how hard he tried convincing her but the shadow monsters kept getting closer, until they eventually pounced!
"Hey! You look mean! And mean people are the bad guys! We can't let a bad guy into our town can we?"
"No we can't!"
Chanted the group of kids that had been carefully following Subaru, but now one was on his back hitting his head with a stick as the rest chanted "Leave bad guy leave!"
"Hey! Knock it off!"
Said Subaru as he grabbed the kid on his back and put him back on the ground, he looked at Rem who was giggling to herself with a smile.
"Seems like you will be busy Subaru. Rem will buy the rest and come back."
"W-wait- You can't leave me like this-"
Unfortunately despite Subaru's protests Rem continued buying groceries and Subaru was left alone surrounded by a mass of children.
Sundown
Rem had returned to where Subaru was, it was rather loud and the children's parents were standing around watching their kids play with Subaru. They were doing some sort of stretching. Subaru stretched his arms out into the air with a big smile as he shouted, alongside the kids,
"Victory!"
Subaru smiled as he waved goodbye to all of the kids and watched them go to their parents. He then noticed Rem who had been watching them with a small smile, the wind blew against her dress and her short hair and if only for a short moment Subaru could see the sunset through both of Rems eyes. Subaru was filled with motivation as a he smiled and got into a stance, pointing at Rem.
"That smile is worth the world!"
Rem giggled again, closing her eyes for a second before opening them and walking over to Subaru.
"Rem is telling Emilia."
"H-hey what's that supposed to mean-"
Rem laughed again.
"Subaru Subaru!"
Subaru turned around to see a small girl, it was Meili, the blue haired girl. But this time she a had tiny little puppy in her hands and was showing it off to Subaru.
"Don't tell the others because I'll get in trouble but look at her! Isn't she cute?"
"Hehe, very." He smiled as he looked at the tint puppy.
"..Aren't you gonna pet her?"
"Pet her? Uh, no, I have allergies. But Rem will wont she, right Rem?"
Meili smiled and walked in front of Rem showing the puppy off to her.
"Pet her Pet her!" Meili was almost jumping with delight as she showed her off. Rem couldn't help but gently put her hand on the puppy's head and nuzzle it, but suddenly it bit her and Rem retracted her hand which was now covered in blood.
"Sorry! I didn't know why she would bite you!"
Subaru walked over and looked at Rems hand, he was worried and guilty since it's his fault for telling her to Pet it.
"Oh my god I'm sorry Rem, does it hurt?"
"It's fine, Rem can fix it"
Rem put her other hand slightly over the bite wound and chanted "Mana of water, heal this damaged body" as a small sphere of glowing blue light appeared in front of her hand, healing the bite wound.
"Woah! You can heal people?"
Rem nodded, she looked at Subaru who was looking at Meili.
"Now then, go back to your parents and make sure not to let the puppy hurt anyone else alright?"
"Yes sir!"
She said enthusiastically as she ran off to where the rest of the kids went, who were her parents anyways? Subaru didn't care that much so he began walking.
"You seem to work well with children Subaru."
"I know right? I don't know why though, it's always been like this."
"Maybe you have a natural talent for parenting."
"Maybe I do, though those kids were more so making fun of me than anything else!"
Rem laughed "You seem to be adept at making things look pathetic Subaru."
"Hey!.. Well actually, I guess that's true isn't it?.."
Rem nodded as they continued walking
"Did I ever tell you how much these things weigh? I feel my spine break apart with each step."
"You shouldn't tell big sis that, she wouldn't be happy."
"Heh, definitely not. Now that I think about it, what's with your immense love for Ram? It's like you're demonically possessed."
Rem looked at Subaru while they walked towards the mansion.
"Demonically possessed?"
"Like Devine possession but demonic! It sounds cooler doesn't it?"
"Do you like Demons?"
"Of course I do! Demons will laugh with you about next year and the future!"
Rem smiled again, Subaru could feel his heart skip a beat!
"Man, if you keep doing that you'll make me fall in love with you!"
"Rem will definitely be telling Emilia."
"W-wait crap please don't- "
Night
Subaru was already in bed, he had told Ram about his inability to read and while Belittling him a little Ram did agree to help him learn. And he was learning, he knew a few of the basic glyphs and his end goal was to learn to read a basic children's story. He was currently in bad, trying to sleep but his head was filled with thoughts and ideas. But suddenly there was a knock at the door.
"Subaru, it's Rem."
"Wha-.. oh.. You can come in."
The door opened and it was Rem, she was holding a plate. She walked over to the table next to his bed and placed the plate down on the table. Subaru looked at it, it was food.
"..Did you cook that?"
"Yes.. Rem wanted to say sorry again, so she cooked you some food.."
"Ah... thank you Rem, you really didn't have to. You should get some sleep, there's another day ahead of us tomorrow."
"...Yes, you're right.. good night Subaru."
"Good night Rem."
Rem exited the room and Subaru looked at the room, he wasn't very hungry but he would be damned if he didn't finish every last bit of food Rem had cooked for him. And so Subaru ate Rems cooking and fell asleep without a worry in the world... how foolish.
Morning
Subaru was awoken by a loud scream, he got off the bed as he immediately recognized that it was Rams voice. Subaru got out if his room and into the halls, he saw an open door and entered... what he saw..
He saw Rem, in her bed, Ram on her knees crying into Rem. He didn't understand, but as he walked closer and looked at Rem he realized what had happened. He fell to his knees as his expression changed to one of deep disbelief.
"...n-no...this cant be..."
But it was real. Rams grief was evidence of that. Subaru could feel his arms go limp as teats fell from his eyes.
"...Subaru...why did this have to happen..."
"..I don't... I don't know..."
"Subaru, if you do know anything do tell me. It was as if all the energy had been sucked out of her." It was Roswaals voice, Subaru didn't see him on his way in. Though he didn't sound enthusiastic or elongate his words as usual.
"...no.. I don't know anything.. she was so.. full of life.."
Ram continued screaming, Roswaal fell quiet.
An hour had passed. Nothing was quite the same. Subaru couldn't even remember what he had done until now. Not like it mattered. Subaru was in the kitchen, alone with no one else to watch as he held a knife in his hands, against his chest.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!"
Subaru felt the knife be pushed away from, more so grabbed out from his hands. He looked, it was Ram. She looked at Subaru, filled with anger as tears fled her eyes again.
"Why would you try to do that?! Rem wouldn't want that! No one wants that!... Subaru.. I can't.. I can't handle losing someone else Subaru.."
Ram fell into Subaru, Subaru didn't say anything she was crying again. Subaru didn't want her to cry, he didn't want anyone to cry because of him. But here he was, he couldn't even kill himself to save someone else. Subaru held her as she cried into his chest. He didn't know what to do anymore, would this world just reset? He was scared that if he died this world would continue.. and then he would have taken another life away from Ram.
Night
Subaru couldn't remember anything outside of Ram. He was sitting on his bed, looking outside of the window. He avoided everyone else while he did his job for the rest of the day. But Subaru didn't want to continue this. He had snuck a knife with him into his room.
"...I'm sorry Ram.."
He held the knife against his chest, he felt the tip going in.
"...I'm sorry Emilia.."
He felt the knife going deeper inside his chest. It hurt, it hurt so much. It hurt more than anything else he had done before, because he was leaving this world behind. He was leaving Ram behind, he was leaving Emelia behind. He was just giving up on them.. He was giving up on..
"..I'm sorry... Rem.."
Subaru felt the knife finally pierce his heart as his entire body went limp, his clothed and bed covered in blood as he fell on the floor. Everything was going dark again. The last thing he saw was the door opening, and what he could barely make out tor be another scream.
Morning
Subaru woke up in a cold sweat as he pulled his upper body up, he placed his hands against his chest as he struggled to breathed. He looked at the windows, light was shining through on to his bed.
"I will save you."
Took me long enough right? Well either way, that was that. We're finally back! There might be another chapter soon, knowing me it'll take me a year before I finish it haha. (sorry)
