"Tell him." Emery says with a sorrowful look.
Erin started to tear up and couldn't find the words. Jay looked at her and instantly grabbed her hand.
"Hey you can tell me." Jay says.
"After I left I went straight to Emerys apartment. She was so happy to see me but frustrated because I left you. A few weeks later I got really sick. I went to the ER and they ran some tests." She pauses.
Erin knew Jay was already mad and she couldn't take it if this pushed him over the edge.
"Turns out I was pregnant." Erin continues.
Emery walks upstairs to grab something and then clutches it close to her body. Her parents sat in silence the whole time she was gone.
"I was going to tell you but I didn't know how. By the 4th month I started bleeding. I ended up miscarrying the baby, I had just found out it was going to be a boy." Erin breaks down as Jay wraps her in a hug.
"I was going to tell you. I had it all planned out and then I lost him. I'm sorry." Erin continues through the sobs.
Jay hugs her tighter and they just sit there awhile. Emery can feel the tears streaming down her cheeks but she knew her mom needed to heal and she couldn't do that if she wasn't being honest. Emery hands over the picture frame with a sonogram in it right next to it is a picture of Erin's little belly.
"Mom planned on coming home and giving this to you to tell you the news after she lost him she threw it away. I kept it." Emery said.
"Em can you please give us a minute." Jay says to his daughter.
"I'm going to head to bed. I love you both." She says hugging her parents.
Erin and Jay sat on the couch just hugging each other. Jay knew she was still hurting and it upset him she'd been going through it alone.
"Did you give him a name?" Jay asked her.
"I thought since I had one named after me you should have one named after you. I just called him Jj though."
"Jj? Like Jay junior? I like Jj, I'm sure he would have been a wonderful little boy. I mean look at our daughter. Jay says with a giggle.
"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you. I just didn't know how. When I left Hank told me not to look back. We had decided to take that break shortly after Emery left. I thought we were done. When i got into that trouble and the FBI recruited me I left."
"Erin, look at me. I'm not at all mad at you. Do you know how badly I've missed you? I've missed all of you more than anything." Jay says, grabbing her face and then kissing her.
Erin pushes him away and gets up off the couch and walks into her bedroom without saying a word. Jay quickly follows her and wraps her in a hug just as she collapses into his arms crying.
"I'm sorry I left, I'm sorry I never told you I was pregnant, and I'm sorry I came back."
"You don't have to be sorry for anything Erin. We can figure it out later." He says kissing her passionately.
"Stop. I can't do this. You're with Hailey, I won't do that to her. I'm going to go sleep in Emery's room with her. You can have the bed tonight." Erin says leaving the room.
Erin walks upstairs and into her daughter's room. Emery was still awake and went ahead and texted Cody to let him know he needed to stay at his place that night. They laid there in silence for a little bit. Emery felt bad for forcing her mother to tell her dad. She also knew her dad deserved the truth. She was so torn, growing up she never experienced being torn between her parents. Her biological father wasn't ever really a dad so she always sided with her mother.
"I'm sorry, but he needed to know."
"You're right. He did. I'm upset with you but only because of how you went about it not that you made me do it. You need to remember I'm your mom, not the other way around. Twenty one with a baby or not. I am the Mother." Erin says looking into her daughter's eyes.
All Emery could do was nod. She knew her mother was right; she shouldn't have ambushed her parents like that. Sometimes she would forget that even though she was a mom now she still had a mom as well. They both fell asleep quickly, without another word.
The next morning they all got up the house was quiet. Emery went back upstairs to get the baby ready leaving Jay and Erin in the kitchen.
" Hey I just wanted…" Jay starts to say but is cut off.
"When this case is over I'm heading back to New York. Emery and the baby are coming with me. Hoping Cody will as well. Olivia is going to offer him a job and they told me I can have my position back as well." Erin says walking into the living.
"Emery let's go." She yells up the stairs.
All Jay could do was stay there as he watched his whole world walk out the front door. Emery is confused by the look on her fathers face and heads out the door after her mom.
"Mom what happened?"
"I told him we were going back to work when this is over."
"What? I thought we were staying. This is our home mom. Grandpa needs us, dad needs us." Emery says upset.
"Emery stop. He's moved on. We need to let him." Erin says.
Emery didn't know what to do she didn't want to leave but she couldn't be away from her mother either the few months before her mom moved out to New York nearly killed her. If it hadn't been for Olivia she wouldn't have made it. She knew the case wasn't over yet but it would be sooner rather then later. She had no time to fix anything.
