They get to the station and head up the stairs. Emery goes directly into her grandfather's office and shuts the door to focus on details of the case she thinks everyone is missing.
"What's wrong?" Dawson asks Lindsay.
"She thinks there is something we are missing with this case."
"We caught him red handed. What does she think we missed?"
Trent Lewis was the man's name that tried to take Emery the day before. They had kept him all night and he had been brought into the interrogation room. Emery sat skimming through everything and when she hit missing person reports she found one that had matched the MO just over the state border in Indiana.
Jay walks into the squad room and just glances at Erin as Emery comes flying out of the office and heading towards the interrogation room. She flings the door open and walks in.
"Where is she?" Emery screams in his face.
The guy just stares at her with a small grin.
"I asked you a question." Emery says sternly as Erin and Jay come running in.
"Emery you need to calm down." Upton says.
"Tell me where Faith is." She says, slamming down a picture.
"Emery." Upton says.
"You took her from Indiana almost 2 months ago." Emery says.
The man then smiles and Emery draws back her arm to take a swing at him. Jay grabs her and starts to drag her out of the room but she gets free and gets right back in his face.
"Detective Lindsay calm down." Upton says.
"Stay out of it Hailey."
"Erin get your daughter out of here." She says turning to Erin.
"I'm his daughter too. That didn't stop just because your dating him." Emery yells walking out of the room.
Emery goes back out to the squad room and sits in her fathers chair. She knew her going off was not the best thing, she hadn't even shared what she discovered with the team yet.
"What the hell was that Emery Kay?" Erin says.
"I was looking into everything I told you, it wasn't over mom. He has this girl in captivity. He was taking other girls before he got rid of the last one. Faith Graham 23 her 4 month old son was found alone in his stroller in a local park a week before you guys found your last body. That's why it took so long before he came after me." Emery says upset.
"Yes but you can't just fly off the handle like that." Jay says.
"Why not? You both do. I mean that's why mom lost her badge in the first place. That's why you guys never got engaged because she left before you got the chance." Emery says.
Erin and Jay just look at each other. Erin didn't know anything about him wanting to propose. Emery just sat there and watched her very angry father grow even more upset with her. Hank walks in for the morning and notices the tension that was quickly building.
"What's going on?" He asks.
They take the time to fill him in. Then Hank pulls Emery into his office to further discuss. Erin and Jay stand in the squad and talk about what just happened with Emery.
"She's done Erin she's way to close to the case ." Jay says.
"She did exactly what we do Jay. How can we take her off when she is probably the best bet in finding the other girl." Erin says putting her hand on his shoulder.
Upton comes around the corner and gets a glimpse of Erin and Jay. She was already upset because of what just happened with Emery.
"Like mother, like daughter. Huh?" Upton says.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Erin asks, offended.
"Just that she shares your temper." She says.
"Listen I know we only worked together for a short time and I know you are dating Jay now. I'm not interfering Upton . We are gone after this case. Everything will be back to normal."
"This has nothing to do with my relationship with Jay but everything to do with your daughter trying to take a swing at the suspect."
"Our daughter. Emery already told you that." Jay says gently.
Hailey got really quiet after Jay chimed in. About a minute later Emery and Hank come back out.
"Al take him to the cage." Is all he says.
"I'm coming down there too." Emery says.
"No you aren't. You're done." Jay says as Hank just looks at him and then back at Emery.
"You heard your dad. You're benched." He says to his very upset granddaughter.
Emery went and locked herself in her grandpa's office yet again. She went over every piece of information she could think of. The investigation had lead them to the apartment where they didn't find anything, a storage unit where again nothing was found. All Emery could hope for was something would jump out or her grandfather could beat it out of him. Emery skims his list of properties. There it was the break she'd been looking for. She comes out of the office and is quickly stopped.
"Where are you going?" Jay asks.
"I have to be babysat now?" Emery asks with an attitude.
"He bought a house boat 2 years ago that sits at a private dock just outside the city." Emery says handing papers to her dad.
"Let's go. I'll text your mom and let her know she's out with Dawson."
Jay and Emery loaded up in the car and drove to the boat. When they got there they put on their vests and walked towards the boat cautiously. They searched the boat and they didn't find anything out of place. Emery was so upset she walked out in to the little back deck. Jay follows closely behind.
"It's ok. We will find her." He says hugging her.
When Emery looks over her dads shoulder as he hugs her she sees there is a large storage compartment on the floor.
"Dad look."
Jay covered Emery as she opened the door. There crumpled in the fetal position, barely breathing was the young woman.
"We need an ambulance sent to…." Emery started to hear her dad say as she used all her strength to pull the woman out and perform CPR.
"Come on, wake up." Emery says while pumping on her chest.
The woman's pulse was almost nonexistent but Emery gave her all she had until the ambulance got there. She rode with Faith to the hospital and stayed there until she finally got the news that she was going to be ok. The whole day was mentally and physically draining for Emery. She went home and snuggled up with her daughter and couldn't do anything but stare at the beautiful baby of hers. She worried about what the future would bring for her and her family.
