The ambulance pulls up outside the hospital and Emery follows out after the gurney. She rushes in right behind the paramedics.
"38 year old female. Found unconscious on the kitchen floor. BP is 85/60. She has a small cut on her head assuming it's from the fall." The paramedic says.
"Emery what happened?"
"Nat I came home from dinner and found her passed out."
"Is there anything you can tell me? Is she taking any medications? Any chance she could be pregnant?"
"No medicines that I'm aware of no. She's been a little stressed lately but not anything major. I don't know if she could be pregnant. Maybe." Emery says panicked.
Emery was racking her brain trying to figure out what could have happened. She knew her blood pressure was dangerously low and didn't know what could have caused it. First place Emerys brain went was she was doing drugs again but she also knew the signs of that and this was different. Jay came running into the ER and ran into Will.
"Will, where is Erin?"
"Nat is working on her. Her blood pressure is super low and the only thing that appears to be physically wrong is a cut on her head from the fall."
Just then Jay sees Emery standing outside of a room crying, she looked so helpless. He ran over to her and hugged her tightly.
"Dad, I don't know what happened." Emery says falling into her fathers arms.
"It's ok. She'll be ok." Jay says, rubbing her back.
They both watch as the nurses and doctors hook Erin up to machines and poke her with needles. The fact that she wasn't really responding was concerning. Nat gets her stabilized with some meds and the waiting game begins. Jay and Emery sit with her, after about 2 hours she starts to come around. This was also about the time Natalie came back with some results.
"She is extremely dehydrated and her blood pressure was extremely low. We've got it to come up but we are going to keep her to monitor her closely. You both should go home and get some rest. I promise I'll take good care of her." Nat says trying to comfort them.
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here." Emery says forcefully.
Just as Natalie was about to leave the room Erin slowly opened her eyes and looked right at Emery.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" She asks her mom.
"Like I've been hit by a truck. What happened?"
"You passed out at home. I found you when I got back. I had to call the ambulance." Emery says tears streaming.
"Hey I'm ok." Erin says wiping her daughters tears away.
Emery hugs her mother and that's when Erin spots Jay.
"Glad you're awake you had us all scared" Jay says squeezing her leg.
"I have one more test to run so I'm going to take her with me guys." Natalie says calling in a nurse.
She wheels Erin out of the room and down the hall. She stops and ensures that no one is around to hear what she's about to say.
"Erin, you're pregnant. We need to do an ultrasound but I didn't know if it was something you wanted your daughter to see just yet. She told me she didn't know if you were pregnant and I wasn't going to be the one to tell her."
Erin went completely silent for a minute before she finally found some words.
"I should have known. The last few days I've been really sick. I thought I just had a bug."
"Well the puking definitely explains the dehydration. Let's go ahead and do the ultrasound make sure the baby is good." Nat says.
Erin was still in shock. She laid completely still waiting to see anything on the monitor. Nat determined that Erin was about 6 weeks along. Which just confirmed what Erin already knew. She hadn't been with anyone else but she was trying to convince herself it couldn't be. She was scared because of what happened last time and terrified because her baby's father was getting married to someone else. Emery was already mad about her parents sleeping together. How would she feel if it resulted in a baby. Erin knew this could be one of the last chances she had to have another baby.
"Erin are you ok?" Nat asks.
"Yeah. I'm ok, I'm just processing everything."
"You want to talk about it."
"It's Jay's baby Nat." Erin says.
"When did that happen?"
"Christmas. We met up to talk about Emery and one thing led to the next. I still love him."
"Erin he never stopped loving you but it took him awhile before he could move on. Hailey was his safe place after you. If he had to choose it's going to be you every time." Nat says hugging her tightly.
"Well we better go let them know. My daughter may kill us so just be aware."
They wheel Erin back to her room and Emery was on the phone in the hall. Erin and Jay sat in silence for a little bit then they both tried to start talking at once.
"You go first."
"I have to tell you something but I don't know how."
"You can tell me anything. You know that." he says grabbing her hand.
She takes a deep breath as tears start filling her eyes.
"I'm pregnant Jay." Erin finally says.
Jay was overjoyed at first and then he started to realize the true weight of the whole situation. His smile quickly turned to fear. He couldn't understand how he could be so happy but so scared at the same time.
"How do we tell Emery?" Were the first words out of his mouth.
"I don't know. Should we wait?"
"If we wait it's going to make another issue. She is already upset with us lying about sleeping together."
"Ok we will tell her when she comes back in. Are you ok?"
"Erin, honestly I've never been happier. I told you I wanted to be with you. I just have to figure out how to break things off with Hailey."
"Do you love her Jay?"
Jay went silent and didn't get a chance to say a thing before their daughter came back in. Emery walked in and sat on the edge of the bed. Erin grabbed her hand and just stared at her for a minute.
"What?"
"You are the best thing that has ever happened to me you know that?"
"I'm so glad your ok. I don't know what I would ever do without you."
"So the test Nat took me for confirmed that there is something going on with me."
"What is it?"
"Em, She took me for an ultrasound. I'm pregnant."
Emery just looked at her mother and father in complete shock. How was this happening? She had all these questions running through her head and although she was overjoyed to be a big sister, It was all a huge mess and she didn't want her sibling born into that. Her father was supposed to be getting married to another woman. Even though she wasn't a big fan of Haileys she never pictured her father to be a cheater or her mother to be the other woman.
"I need a minute." Emery says walking out of the room.
Emery walked down to the Cafeteria to get some coffee and a snack. She sat down at a table and thought about everything. She didn't know what was going to happen between her parents, with her dad and Hailey, and most importantly her sibling. Was her dad coming home? Was her family going to be complete again? She had all these questions running through her head. Just then she saw her dad walking towards her.
"Hey. Listen I know your mad…" Jay starts to say.
"Dad I'm not mad. I'm confused. 25 years old with my own kid and my parents' relationship problems bother me like I'm a child. I'm happy I can't wait to be a big sister. But what does that mean for you and mom? For you and Hailey?"
"I don't know. I want to be with your mother. I want to raise the baby in one home. I just don't know how to tell Hailey. I do care for her a lot. I know what your mother and I did to her wasn't acceptable and I don't want you to see me like that. I understand why you're mad, even though you say you're not. We have a lot of stuff to figure out but I will fix what I broke with you. No matter what." Jay says, wiping her tears off her cheek.
"I love you." Emery says with a small smirk.
"I love you too" Jay says back
