After Violet had washed her hands and face, she returned to the library to join the Client for dinner, but found only Wulf there waiting for her.

"Ahh, Violet," He said, "The Mistress regrets she will not be able to join you for dinner this evening. She has taken ill and decided to retire for the evening. However, she has asked that I escort you to the kitchen, so you may have your fill of the girl's catch"

Violet politely nodded and followed Wulf out of the library. As she walked through the house, she noticed that all the lights had been turned out, something she found strange. Normally in the day – except for the library – every light was off, while at night every light would be turned on. Tonight was opposite, however.

"Why is it so dark here?" Violet asked as she moved slowly, letting her eyes adjust to the darkness.

"The Mistress doesn't do so well in the light," Wulf explained as he continued to lead Violet, "We had quite the evening, but we decided to let the mistress get some rest, tomorrow is going to be quite the day"

"What's going to happen tomorrow, is there another party planned?" Violet asked as she stepped inside the small Kitchen.

Wulf closed the door behind her and continued, "Not exactly, but the estate will be shutting down for the coming summer. The Mistress is planning on giving her first performance in many years that night, she's really quite excited"

Violet sat down at the small kitchen table. The kitchen was surprisingly quiet and relaxed, for how formal and ceremonial the estate was. The table was simply a raised counter, and Violet sat on a metal stool.

Even Wulf, normally dressed in proper formal wear, had dressed down for the evening. He removed his blazer, unbuttoned his collar, and had even rolled up his long sleeves for the night. Violet watched as he walked over to the oven and produced a covered plate of food for Violet.

"The girls had quite a nice catch today," he explained as he placed the plate and a measure of seasoning on the counter, "We had enough for everyone even with seconds. This one's been in the oven for a while, but hopefully you'll still enjoy it"

As Wulf lifted the cover, Violet took in the sight of a plank of salmon, garnished with white rice, red potatoes, and charred shallots. It smelled – and looked – delicious, but Violet choose to keep her manners about her. She carefully took the knife and fork, cut a small piece of salmon away, and brought the fish to her lips.

As Violet bit into the fish, she found the meat to be light, flakey, and very juicy. The flavour sat well on her tongue, and she considered it to be on par with any of the meat served at Felix's Deli. She next took a bite each of the potatoes and shallots and found both vegetables to be perfectly seasoned and flavoured. By far, this was one of the best meals she ever had.

"This… is very well made," She said to Wulf, trying to keep her composure at how impressed she was.

Wulf offered a smile, "I'm so pleased to hear that. The girls would honestly make fine fishermen themselves. I made sure they saved the best catch for you"

"This is very kind, but you also didn't have to go to so much trouble," Violet replied as she dug into the fluffy white rice. She was barely able to restrain herself at how delicious the food was.

"No trouble at all," Wulf said as he poured two glasses of red wine, "The Mistress expect the best of everyone around her, and In return she offers the best in return. I understand that tomorrow you have a very difficult task ahead of you"

"What makes you say that, Wulf?" Violet asked, sipping the delicately flavoured wine.

"You have to write the words to your song, Violet. I've tried several times myself, it's never easy." Wulf replied as he sipped his own glass.

"Yes, that will be a challenge. I'm still uncertain as to what our song should be about." Violet said as she finished her glass.

She rose from her seat and offered a polite bow. But as she turned for the door, Violet stopped and asked, "I wonder, why does the client refuse to reveal her face or name?"

Wulf simply shrugged, "She won't say. I suppose you will learn that soon. Goodnight, Violet"

Violet bowed once more. When she returned to her room, she laid in bed and thought about her last question for a very long time.

There was no answer. Or Sleep.
