Sai's Brilliant Plan
Hikaru no Go! crossover
Summary: The restless Go playing spirit inside of Hikaru has noticed that he's got a crush on a beautiful girl at school. So, he tries to give Hikaru a few pointers on how to get her, but maybe a bigger plan is needed? [Hikaru/Kagome]
"PLEASE, Hikaru! Please!"
"No, not now, Sai," the boy replied.
"But Hikaru," the restless spirit whined, trying to gain the attention of his current vessel. "Hikaru, please, I want to play!" Though no one could see it, he looked like he was tugging at the boy's shirt, trying to make him see reason and allow him to play. Especially with that black haired girl that Hikaru was watching, while Akari stood beside them, rolling her eyes at the fact that Hikaru was watching the girl.
"Later," he said.
Sighing, Sai bowed his head in defeat. "Oh, very well," he said. He knew for a fact that Hikaru would keep his word once he bugged him later about it. He still wanted to play, though, and he turned his attention back to the girl who sat at the board currently. She played swiftly, every once in a while giving her obviously weaker opponent a smile of reassurance. Almost like she was trying to comfort him when he began realizing he wasn't going to win. It was nice on her part, but she also seemed a little smug about it, like she knew she would win.
The girl had clearly been playing for a good amount of years, enhancing her strategies and moves in order to confuse her opponents, but also pull them into a false sense of security. Her game was beautifully played; each move made so quickly that it was obvious she was analyzing and determining what her opponent's next move would be some time before they made it. And, oh, he wished to play against the girl so badly, because it was clear that she was the type to twist a situation or two inside her head for quite some time before she finally came to a decision. She was clearly the type to take in everything and digest it as if it was a string of numbers, and he wondered how she would manage against him.
"Is she winning?" Hikaru asked softly, glancing up at the spirit at his side. His eyes seemed to glow for a moment in hope, but they dimmed when the spirit gave him a small, thoughtful glance. They dimmed even more when Akari elbowed him in the stomach, telling him softly not to talk to himself so much.
"Can you not tell for yourself?" Sai asked. He was sure that Hikaru was finally beginning to grasp most of the game, yet he was speaking as if he did not know the first thing about Go. A frown appeared on his lips as he raised the fan in his hand to cover his face, before glancing back over to the girl's game. His eyes sharpened, and he said, "She is winning by twelve points."
Hikaru mouthed the score, and then turned his attention back to the playing pair. The crowd around them was silent, each watching as the girl played another move, then the boy across from her, before she played another almost instantly. However, with the two people in front of him it was rather hard to see, and he sighed when he realized that he could not see properly. In fact, as the boy in front of him shifted the female opponent's face was blocked from view, and a small frown appeared on his face.
"Hikaru," Sai said at last, "is there something that you would like to tell me?"
Hikaru shook his head, and continued to watch the two players.
Sai muttered to himself for a moment, before lowering his fan and tilting his head. The light had returned to Hikaru's eyes, and he noticed that Akari was scowling lightly at the female playing, before she glanced lightly at the boy at her side. There was obviously something that he was missing, but what it could possibly be was fleeting. Then, with a small shake of his head, he decided that for now he would enjoy the game being played and think on this new situation afterward.
Paradise
Wolf's Rain crossover
Summary:Kiba was sure that he had opened the path to paradise, he was positive he had done it, yet he was uncertain at the same time. [Kiba/Kagome]
Slowly, he opened his eyes to find the gentle swaying of a tall tree over his head. He frowned in confusion, trying to remember what had happened last, before the memories began to come back to him. He had opened the way to paradise, hoping that the souls of his friends were able to make it there.
"Hello," a voice drew his attention away from the gentle swaying of the branches over his head. He turned his head, finding a young woman sitting at his feet with a smile on her face. "May I ask why you're sitting underneath the Goshinbuko?"
"I don't know," he answered honestly. He took in the appearance of the young woman quickly, assessing whether she would be a threat to him or not. He already knew from the feel of the world around him that he was no longer a wolf forced to hide—he was human. Yet something inside of him silently told him to be on guard, to still protect himself, and he wondered if human's always felt that way.
She frowned, but accepted the answer. She asked, "Do you remember anything?"
He almost scoffed at the very idea. However, he knew what she was referring to, and knew that he could not tell her what he did remember. She would think him crazy for believing himself to be a wolf, and probably wonder at his imagination if he told her of any of the things he had once done. So, he decided to play it safe for the moment, while he wondered if the others could remember as he did. "No."
"Perhaps your name?" she asked. She looked completely concerned, the appearance softening her features in a way that he was almost sad he had to lie to her.
"My name," he paused to make it appear as if he was thinking, "is Kiba."
"Well, Kiba, my name is Higurashi Kagome," she explained to him, "and you are currently on the Higure Shrine grounds. The tree you're sitting underneath is the Goshinbuko, and though I do not know why you have sought it out, I know that it might help you."
Untitled
Death Note crossover
Summary: N/A [Light/Kagome]
The large shinigami watched the young woman silently, the holes that made up his eyes watching with a quiet amusement. The human was the best thing that could have ever happened to him, he knew that. He had listened to Ryuk speak of how much amusement the human who had picked up his Death Note gave him, but he doubted that Ryuk's human was as special as his. Though, he knew in a way the boy was special, but his human was even more special—she could do things that no other human could do, it was obvious.
Her pen stopped tapping against the book beneath her hands, before she slid away from her desk and stared at the small television sitting on the wooden piece of furniture. The shinigami gave a few quiet chuckles, watching as she stared and listened as the man on the screen droned on about the latest victims that they believed had been killed by Kira. Watching her, though, he knew that her mind was processing the information, and knew that his amusing human would soon figure out the answer to her question. He knew, because even though he chose neither side, she had figured out many strange facts that he had refused to give her.
"It seems that our spotlight is beginning to be taken away, Ruko," she muttered softly, her voice light and carefree. "Kira might think that he is intelligent, but he has obviously never met me before."
The shinigami gave another few chuckles.
She raised her hand, twirling the pen she held between her fingers. She smiled sweetly, her entire expression contradicting the words that might fall from her mouth. Then, she began to softly tap her pen against the open book beneath her hands, the many names, dates, and words sprawled out neatly in an orderly fashion. "He plays so many games, pulls so many strings, but he never seems to realize that I can take that power away from him. But, I guess that is to be expected, isn't it?"
The space where eyes should have occupied the shinigami's head began to glow almost with a strange light. However, he said nothing, choosing to allow the young woman to continue before her train of thought was taken away. He had found he never wanted that to happen when she was so close to the truth, because then she reverted away from her beautifully amusing behavior.
"Of course he doesn't know me, though. He's never met me. We've never crossed paths, and I doubt that if I did not hold the cards we never would. But," she paused, "that has changed now that I have finally put the pieces together. I believe it is time that Kira and I met."
"You know who Kira is?" Ruko asked.
"Of course," she said softly. She raised her hands, and allowed the shinigami to watch as slowly small red droplets appeared above the palms. Then, like water dripping down glass they moved, forming words. The first was easily read, for it was simply a word.
Kira…
A smirk found its way onto the shinigami's face. Oh, he knew what was about to happen, and he knew that the girl would never give up her secret. However, he watched as the red drops spread out, destroying the first word, and creating more. They were neater in style, but either way he knew that his amusing human had figured out something else without even needing to leave the confines of her home.
…is Yagami Light.
Then, slowly, more droplets appeared above her palms, and another phrase was formed. However, after the letter L appeared in the air, the shinigami did not care anymore. No, no, for all he cared about was how amusing and special his human was. She had no need for shinigami eyes, giving her a full lifespan, but also an extra ability that most mortals did not possess. Though, at times, Ruko still wondered how she came to possess such an ability—even if she could not see a person's lifespan, if she tried hard enough she would know their name, and to her that was all that mattered.
A name and a face…
That was all that was needed for the Death Note to work, and she used her computer in order to find out the faces of her victims. Of course, he did not care whether she was breaking human laws or not, as long as she wrote more and more names into the Note. He did not care, as long as she found a way in order to find their face, and their name, and then kill them with whatever method she deemed appropriate for the person. Another few chuckles left his throat as he lifted his bone-shaped arm and brushed the glove-covered hand over his skull shaped face; as long as he got what he wanted, he did not care how the girl did anything.
Letting her hands fall back into her lap, she turned her head toward the shinigami hovering above her bed. "Of course, those are only the names of the original Kira and the true L," she stopped for a moment. Noticing Ruko's confused stare, she decided to enlighten him. "You remember, don't you, when Sakura TV aired the tape with Kira's demands?"
"Yes," Ruko chuckled, "it was quite amusing."
"Well, I have concluded that there are now two Kiras—three, if you wish to count us into the equation. The first, Yagami Light, is intelligent and has picked his victims based on the crimes they have committed—judging them evil, tainted, or simply too vile for this world. He is not out to kill innocent people like what happened in front of Sakura TV while the first broadcast was being shown. He is out to do something he believes is needed, for whatever reason he has, and has decided in order to do that he must create the perfect world—without crime or violence.
"The second Kira is not as intelligent, picking victims at random and thinking that they are doing the good thing. Whether the two are working together or not is not a vital detail, but I'd be willing to bet that the second Kira wishes to work with the first—that would be a perfect reason for them to begin doing what the first did, even stupidly. Obviously this person worships the true Kira, and though I do not care why, I believe that the second Kira made the video aired by Sakura TV, and killed those policemen using shinigami eyes from a distance," she smiled. "The second Kira is simply a follower, and I have concluded that the true Kira might wish to use that to his advantage."
"But you do not know this boy, you could be wrong," Ruko stated.
"You have told me often that you are not on any side," she sighed, shaking her head at the shinigami. "I may not know this Yagami Light, but as soon as I'm ready I will track him down and if I must, I will eliminate him."
Ruko began to chuckle louder, plucking an apple from the small basket she had laid out for him a few hours before. It was easily tossed into the air and he snatched it before it managed to pass him. Then, with a few large bites he was able to swallow it, delighting in the feel and taste traveling down his throat. He had a feeling things were going to get interesting, and he hoped that his human would buy him more apples, because he was going to need them if they went on a trip.
Bloody Love
Trinity Blood crossover
Summary: Love is a meaningless emotion when you do not have the ability to truly understand it. He wished, though, that she could. He wished that she could understand what he felt for her, even if she was a vampire. [Abel/Kagome]
"So, why is it you're here again, Higurashi-san?" he asked, laughing a little at the end. He looked straight into her dark glasses, and watched as her lip lifted slightly to one side to show off a fang.
"I didn't think you were so forgetful, Abel."
He laughed again, "I believe there's a lot about me you might not know, Higurashi-san."
"Kagome," she replied.
"Ah… oh, yes, of course, Kagome-san," he corrected himself.
"I don't see why you're always insisting on calling me by my surname. You're making me feel old, priest," she muttered.
"Right, it won't happen again, Kagome-san," he nodded. Looking over to the side, he saw that Ester was smiling at him, and Ion, who'd come with Kagome, standing slightly off to the side, rolling his eyes at the sight.
"Whatever," she said. "You asked why I'm here? I'm here because once again I must watch over the boy, like before. I didn't come to visit any Terran, that's for sure." Her lips tilted slightly, "I am at the beck and call of a boy. Ironic, I told myself a long time ago that I'd never allow myself to be bossed around by a child."
Abel gave a small laugh. "I'm sure that it's not that bad, Kagome-san. His Excellency can't give you that much trouble, can he?"
"The boy is annoying," she stated. "I respect his grandmother, and I will do as the Empress commands, but that does not mean I like babysitting on the daily. I do not enjoy having to protect a child, nor do I like the fact that I must take orders from one. I have lived over five-hundred years, priest, I should not have to do such tedious tasks anymore."
"I'm sure that his Excellency—"
"Save your words, priest. Nothing will change the fact that I must once again leave my home in order for him to visit." Her eyes clouded over a bit, "He will learn in time that it is useless to have such feelings for her," she shot a small glance at Ester, "for her kind die much more quickly than ours. Even you, priest, with what you are, will outlive most of those that you currently care for. It is useless."
Abel frowned. "I do not believe so. Yes, they will die eventually, but they make life much more livable until that time. And then you will move on, finding others who will fill their void and start over."
"Ridiculous," she muttered. Seeing him frown further, she smirked a little. "But perhaps I shall take your words to heart should peace finally find itself within the hearts of both our races—no matter how brief it may be when it comes." She brought her hand up and tapped her chest for a moment, "But then I will have to ask myself whether I have a heart or not."
Abel smiled, humored with her little joke. She had already begun to, a small chuckle leaving her throat before she stopped herself, hiding it in the form of a cough. However, he had not missed it, and wished that she would allow herself to loosen up for once, instead of maintaining her emotionless act. He knew she felt something; she had to, for he'd seen her interact, laugh, and become angry with other vampires, yet she refused to show it once she stepped away from her home soil.
