AN: And now for something completely different, but sort of the same.
This just came to me one day and I thought I'd try it out. Imagine escaping one creepy guy with the help of someone who turns out to be even creepier? That's what this story's about with Kai in my favorite role ever DA VILLAIN.
*Excuse me for any typos, I will correct them as this story progresses if it goes anywhere.
**I feel compelled to remind you that I do not own these characters. But like. You probably already know that :)
Kai was sitting at the bar in the grille when he noticed a man and woman standing outside as the sun began to set. The woman was wearing an elegant long white coat as well as a thin, tepid smile on her face as she leaned away from the man, who kept making attempts to touch her arm or her hair. She looked extremely uncomfortable as though she'd rather be anywhere else than in his presence. Through the window, she locked eyes with Kai and her eyes displayed alarm. The woman gestured inside to none other than Kai as if she knew him and gave a wave as a sign of departure but the man followed her inside.
Kai was expecting Sarah to be here any minute, he already had her drink waiting, but he kept his gaze on the woman from outside who was sauntering towards the bar. The creepy man was not far behind. The woman broke Kai's gaze to do a quick once over of who was manning the bar and let out a silent sigh of discontent. Kai noticed her eyes were a lovely shade of green. She returned her gaze to Kai and visibly mouthed HELP ME as she approached.
"Hey, babe!" She announced loudly giving Kai a wide smile before she threw her arms around his neck. Kai was surprisingly receptive, welcoming her by returning the embrace.
"Hey, hi,"
"Please pretend you know me. That man is following me." She whispered into his ear, in a light tremble.
"I got your back," he whispered in return. "Babe, what took you so long?" He played the part back well by pulling her into a kiss. He kept it chaste so as not to startle her but she leaned into him as her breath hitched.
She looked relieved when she pulled back and her voice drawled as she spoke. "Meeting with clients took longer than expected. We should get going, we don't wanna be late."
"So this is the lucky bloke?" The man who had been creeping out 'Babe' finally spoke, looking quite disheartened.
"That would be me," Kai grinned but it wasn't a friendly one. It was more of a dark menacing one. "Who are you?"
"Just a friend, mate. I thought I'd accompany your lady friend on her walk from her office. It will be dark soon and it isn't safe for a lady to be out alone after dark lately." His voice seemed to want to assure him, but Kai wasn't convinced. He bowed his head slightly as he departed. "Good evening to you both."
As soon as he left, the green-eyed woman let out a long sigh of relief. He was able to get a good look at her and really take in her features. She had a caramel complexion with a heart-shaped face with large, slightly almond green eyes. Her hair was brunette at the top of her head that gradually transformed into light honey locks as waves cascaded down her back. He couldn't deny that she was stunningly gorgeous. And the look in her eyes, she stared at him in such adoration, it nearly gave him shivers.
Focusing back on what she was saying, he realized she was thanking him and also apologizing because she was truly in a hurry to get wherever she was going.
"It's no problem at all, miss..?" He trailed off when he realized he hadn't caught her name.
"It's Bonnie," she said, giving him that warm smile again. God, it was distracting. "Bonnie Bennett. But if you ever see that man again, it's Emily."
"Of course. I'm Kai Parker." He held his hand out and smiled when she took it. Kai noticed she had a tattoo of the Playboy bunny on her wrist as his hold on her hand lingered. "It's nice to meet you. Although, I think we're way past niceties, Bonnie. I should warn you.."
Bonnie blushed as she quickly pulled her hand back.
"I'm so sorry Kai, I don't even know if you're taken, I just needed to get that man off my back," Bonnie interjected before he could finish. "Thanks again, I didn't mean to insinuate anything."
Bonnie looked at the clock and became more flustered as she readied herself to leave.
"Have a good night!"
"Bonnie, wait," he called but she was rushing away.
"I'm very late!" She didn't turn to look, just continued rushing off. Bonnie excused herself at the door as she almost bumped into the person entering, who scowled at her.
Ahh, there was his client. Sarah Nelson, clad in a long black velvet coat, always looking impeccable. She strolled towards Kai, her long black hair swinging behind her.
He bade for her to follow him to a table as he carried the drinks over.
"Sarah, sweetheart. Glad you could join me. Drink?" He greeted her warmly.
"Don't call me that." She snapped glaring at him as she took her seat. "This is strictly business."
Kai smirked at that. He decided to let up on his taunting, he knew she had a short temper for it.
"Fine by me. Do you have the money? And the vials?"
"Why do you need three vials of my blood?"
"I have a job to do. I don't question you about the mundane details of your job. Do you have it or not?"
Sarah hesitated before she pulled out a small package from the breast of her coat and slid it across the table.
"Thank you. In no time at all, you be reunited with the El Salvadorians,"
"It's Salva-TORE that's the family name," she hissed, slamming her hand on the table so hard it made her untouched drink swirl around in its glass.
Just then a waiter came over and placed two entrees on their table, on each other's respective sides. There was a chicken parmesan entree for kai and a scallop pasta for Sarah, who mumbled a low thanks as she ran her fingers through her pin-straight, raven locks.
"Thank you,"
"Sarah, relax! You seem a little tense," Kai placed his hand over here, gently.
She snatched her hand back. Kai chuckled and grabbed his fork and started grabbing at his plate for a bite.
"Dig in, I got your favorite,"
Kai talking with his mouth full elicited another glare from Sarah who reminded him that she's allergic to shellfish.
"So you're not gonna eat that?"
She clicked her tongue and stood quickly, trying her coat around her waist. "Don't call me until you have something solid."
She traipsed away and made her way out of the front entrance.
"Stuck up bitch," Kai mumbled as he pulled out his phone and typed in a name on a Google search. Bonnie Bennett.
Bonnie rushed through the double doors of the hospital. The nurse at the counter smiled as Bonnie hurried over with a plastic bag of steaming takeout.
"What happened, you're late?"
"I know, I'm sorry April. How is she?"
"Still not eating. Damon's in there, trying to convince her to take a bite but I don't think he's had any luck." April put her hands on Bonnie's. "He's a good man. I can tell Sheila likes him or she would've thrown food at him by now."
"He's my savior, for sure. I'll make sure she eats, I brought her some of her favorites."
"Thank you," April mouthed as her boss walked by.
Bonnie made her way to her grandmother's room. She observed Damon Salvatore in the middle of the same animated story he always tells Grams.
"She didn't even notice the van lost control, so I knew I had to be quick. Faster than I've ever moved, I grabbed the little beauty and pushed her to the sidewalk as the horn blared. She stared into the eyes of her savior and it was a wrap. Love at first sight."
"And then you had sex didn't you?"
Damon just laughed and took Gram's hand. "Grams, I promise, I have always been very respectful."
He kissed her hand, and that seemed to satisfy her. "Mhmmmm. That's cause you in love, child."
"Very much so," Damon said, locking his ocean eyes with Bonnie as he noticed her presence.
She mouthed the words 'I'm sorry' but Damon shook his head brushing it off. He loved her grandma, with all her quirks. He knew dementia had to be hard on her psyche and he didn't like to aggravate her.
Bonnie and Damon had only been dating for a year but they were everything to each other. Bonnie introduced him to her grandmother before dementia took over her mind and Bonnie was glad that she took a liking to him.
"In fact, I'm going to marry her one day," Damon declared proudly.
"You better hurry child. You can't keep poking that without a ring."
Fortunately, Damon knew how to handle all of Gram's curveball comments and questions, because she had a lot of them.
"You wanna help me pick out the ring, Grams?"
"Grams, you're supposed to be eating, not up in Damon's business," Bonnie gently reprimanded as she drew closer and placed a kiss on her cheek.
"This muck takes like shit,"
"I know, that's why I brought you your favorite." Bonnie held up the bag with a hopeful smile. "It's Chinese food!"
"Oh I can't eat all that child, I just finished some breakfast," Sheila said, shaking her head. "You go ahead though."
"It's dinner time," Bonnie said softly as her heart dropped. Grams needed to up her nutrition intake if she wanted to leave the hospital, but she was hopelessly confused.
"Grams, since you're in my business, why don't you tell us about your first love?" Damon grabbed the bag from Bonnie, giving her a quick peck before he settled down on his seat next to Grams.
"Oh, my Louie. Where do I begin? That was love at first sight. I went to see The Temptations and lord was he tempting!"
"Are you telling me you dated a Temptation?" Damon gasped, blue eyes bulging.
"No, he was at the concert, keep up child. He was a fine dancer. We danced all night then he took me back to his car and we had sex. Three times!"
Bonnie put her head in her hands.
"In those days you could because when you knew, you knew. You don't know these days, you got to spend time with someone before you know."
Damon nodded in understanding as he passed Grams a forkful of chow mein. "That's what you did on your first date? Such a rebel!"
He grinned as she took the bait and bite. "Times have changed, child. Things just ain't the same."
"How so?"
"You can't trust people nowadays. You got a good soul though, I can tell. When you find one you can trust you'll know. Have you met my Bonnie?" Grams gestured to Bonnie. "I'd love for you to meet her. She a good one. You would like her."
Feeding her another bite, Damon watched as Bonnie blinked back tears. "I'm sure I would."
"She's getting worse," Bonnie said. She stormed inside the boardinghouse as Damon held the door open for her. Katherine was coming down the stairs followed by Stefan, both of them noticing the look on Bonnie's face. Damon shook his head at the both of them but Katherine pressed.
"Oh my God, Bonnie, what's wrong?" she asked.
Bonnie said nothing just pushed past her and went into the kitchen. Damon glared at her as he followed Bonnie into the kitchen.
"Kat, why do you have to be so nosey?" Stefan demanded quietly. "She obviously doesn't want to talk right now, so don't press her."
"For once I'm actually trying to show genuine concern for little Miss Priss and you still make me out to be a bitch?"
"That's not what I'm doing, but don't act like you actually care. Bonnie can see right through that. You're always a bitch to her and she's done nothing to you."
"Maybe if my boyfriend wasn't always defending her instead of taking my side, I wouldn't have a reason to be such a bitch!"
Katherine huffed and folded her arms and turned away.
Katherine was the epitome of jealousy and Stefan knew it but he hated the way she treated Bonnie with such indignation. He genuinely liked Bonnie because she was sweet, kind, selfless, and easy on the eyes. That was the total opposite of Katherine who was beautiful as well, but that beauty did not come without a bite. She hated whenever Stefan stood up for Bonnie, it brought out her bitch side even more. Having been with Katherine for three years now, so he knew exactly how to calm her down when she got territorial.
"Hey come here," he prompted in a throaty voice as he reached for her. She brushed him off so he stepped behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, landing them close to the center of her legs. "C'mere Kitty. You know I can't stay mad at you."
"Why are you mad at me in the first place?" She pouted.
"Because I know you can do better than that. Just give Bonnie some time, ok baby?"
Katherine turned around and encircled her arms around his neck.
"I don't wanna talk or think about her anymore."
"Then come upstairs with me and I'll make you forget all about her before we leave," he murmured in her ear, pulling her as he stepped back.
She giggled as he chased her back up the stairs. When it came down to it, all Katherine usually needed was a good fuck to temper her moods.
Damon walked into his kitchen to find Bonnie staring blankly into the fridge.
"You gonna grab something or you trying to refrigerate the whole house?" He teased.
"Oh, right. Sorry,"
She closed the fridge and walked to the sink to resume her blank stare out of the window.
"Bonnie, talk to me. Hey," he cupped her face as he neared her. "Don't shut me out."
"I just- the doctor said it's eventually going to be terminal. The disease is literally going to eat away traces of her brain and sanity and I can't watch my Grams go through that. He can't even say how long it will be." She finally said after a period of silence.
"Baby, you are the strongest person I know. It's going to be hard, I know but I'll be there with you every step of the way."
"That's the thing, it's going to be really hard, Damon. It's not going to get better. You shouldn't be there for that! It could break me…"
"You think I'm going to let you fall apart?" It hurt slightly that Bonnie thought she should suffer through this alone. Damon loved Bonnie and he would not forsake her.
"You can't control that."
"The hell I can't!"
"Damon, she's the only piece of me I have left," tears formed in her sclera. "I don't know what I'll do without her."
"You'll always have me, Bonbon." Damon pulled her into an embrace. "I'll put you back together if you fall apart, and I'll never leave your side."
He meant that with all his heart. Bonnie was it for him, she just needed to get that through her judgey little head.
"Yeah?" Bonnie mumbled into his chest.
"As long as I live and breathe, I'll be right here. And if I happen to die first, then I'll haunt you. I'll be your own ghostly stalker. Or guardian angel. Depends on what you're doing."
This made Bonnie giggle through her tears. "Speaking of stalker, the weirdest thing happened today."
Hours later as Bonnie rode Damon to completion in his luxury spa tub, she thought this is what peace feels like. The man she loved who loved her and her Grams, this was all the family she had and it made her feel whole that the two people she loved most in the world had a chance to know each other. She wanted everything with him, to build a life complete with a big family and grow old together, sit on their front porch while they watch their grandchildren play in the front yard. She hoped and prayed she'd make at least half the awesome grandma that Grams had been to her. She'd be a better mother than Abby ever was and she knew Damon would make a wonderful father since he was a family man. Bonnie hoped that when they did decide to have children, Grams would be able to meet them.
Once in bed sans any clothes, she drifted off to sleep in the arms of her love. Although she was uncertain about the future, the feeling of security and peace Damon brought her made her sleep soundly that night. It would be the last time she slept so peacefully for months to come.
As Kai clicked through the pictures of Bonnie Bennett, he programmed her cellphone number into his untraceable phone. He hummed as he hacked into her friend Jeremy Gilbert's deactivated profile on Facebook and scrolled through her timeline. She didn't post much, mainly inspirational quotes, the occasional selfies, and tags at a few different landmarks of places she'd traveled.
He stopped on a picture of Bonnie wearing a huge bonnet and lose camisole over a bikini. She had little makeup on and her hair was blown by the wind as she held her bonnet in place. She was smiling and it wasn't a fake smile, Kai could tell that much because the picture looked as if she had been caught off guard. So pure and beautiful, Kai thought. Fucking delicious. It was making him hard, he decided to move onto the next picture.
That was a mistake. The next picture was of Bonnie sitting in some guy's lap. The guy who had blue eyes and jet black hair was shirtless and Bonnie in another bikini. His arms were wrapped around her tightly, his lips pressing into her neck and Kai couldn't take it. He grabbed a bottle of prescription pills and took a handful of them, chugging water afterward.
He returned back to his screen and switched the picture back to Bonnie in her bonnet. Erotic fantasies swirled in his mind as he unzipped his pants and stroked his dick slowly at first. With his free hand, he dialed Bonnie's number, muted his end, and put it on speaker while the excitement made him pump himself faster and harder. The phone just rang and rang until it went to voicemail and when he heard Bonnie's outgoing greeting, he spouted his release into a nearby towel.
He ended the call with a grunt, thanking Bonnie. Now that his mind was clear, he did some investigating on the guy Bonnie was sitting on in her picture. He found out that his name was Damon Salvatore, he had a brother named Stefan, and that their family owned the only boardinghouse left in town. They were also architects, working on a new restaurant in town. He took down some personal notes and also added to his research for Sarah, noting the coincidence that that's exactly who she was looking for.
"Who are you stalking now?" His twin sister Jo banged on the door to his office. He went to open the door with a huge shit-eating grin.
"Josette! To what do I owe this badly timed interruption? I'm working in here."
"Liar. I heard you all oh god, thank you, Bonnie! " She mocked. "Gross."
"None of your business. You'll meet her soon."
Her eyes widened in horror. "Kai, you said you wouldn't hurt anymore-"
"That'll be all Jo. Get the fuck out. Oh, and feed the old man, will ya?" He slammed the door shut in her face and wiped the smile off his face.
After Jo left, Kai sat back down and groaned. He wasn't going back on his word, he wasn't hurting anyone. He let the last girl go, didn't he? Granted, she didn't know the kind of person she was getting involved with. But that's because Kai was growing as a person. Kai wouldn't say he was crazy, the term he'd use was intense. It didn't work out with the last girl, she wasn't the one. He'd known he had to let her go. He was trying to turn over a new leaf, trying to have a relationship where they weren't terrified of him or he had to kill them. He still kept in touch with his first girlfriend Sarah, and although she hated him, she didn't hate him so much that she wouldn't see him. In fact, she's the one who called him because she knew of his discreet sleuthing skills.
Jo, on the other hand, was getting sick of his impulses. He could tell that much, still, he was allowing her to keep going to work as long as she kept his secret. It was on a tight leash of course but they needed to keep up pretenses. The kids were gone, slaughtered by Kai and his dad was kept locked up in the basement with Kai only allowing him to live to keep Jo at bay, so she wouldn't completely turn on him for massacring the rest of the family.
But things were different now. Bonnie was it. He knew it, he could feel it in her kiss. She chose him. And he was choosing her.
The next morning Bonnie woke up and when she checked her phone, she noticed a missed call from a number she didn't recognize had come through overnight. She figured it must be the wrong number. She deleted it and went to freshen up in Damon's restroom. Damon was already gone for the day, as an architect his team was breaking ground at a new construction site so he had to be there early.
After freshening up, she went downstairs to find Stefan in the kitchen.
"Hey, good morning. You feeling any better today?" He asked as he handed her a mug and poured her some tea.
"Is it my birthday?" She teased.
"Damon made your breakfast at the ass crack of dawn since he had to leave early. But I don't have to leave until noon, so I had the common sense to keep it warm. You didn't answer my question. How are you feeling?"
"A lot better. Yesterday was just a long, crazy day."
"You know if you ever need to talk, I'm right here." He gave her a warm, inviting smile, yet his green eyes seemed to drill into hers.
"Thanks, Stefan I appreciate that. I don't wanna intrude though, especially with Katherine…"
"She'll get over it," Stefan said as he bumped her shoulder. He went to the oven and pulled out a tray stacked with pancakes and blueberries.
"Now, here are your pancakes but I made omelettes, in case you-"
Bonnie ran to the sink and started wrenching before he could finish that sentence. Stefan dropped the tray and rushed over to her, holding her hair away and rubbing her upper back.
"I'm sorry," she said when she was done.
Stefan quickly went to grab her some paper towels before she noticed his hand lingered on her lower back.
"I might have taken your regurgitation at the mention of my cooking personally if I hadn't heard you doing that for the past week."
Stefan eyed her suspiciously.
"Did Katherine hear me too?"
"Doubt it, she's a heavy sleeper. Bonnie, are you pregnant?" He asked, studying her carefully and tenderly.
"I don't know for sure." Her eyes lit up. "But I'll find out in ten minutes!"
Ten minutes later Bonnie and Stefan were staring at four different varieties of pregnancy tests that all indicated positive.
"I'm going to be an uncle," Stefan said.
"I'm going to be a mom!" Bonnie squealed.
She jumped into a hug as he scooped her up in congratulations. "Damon's going to be so stoked. Has he told you he's always wanted a little girl?"
"Yes, but he came up with thee ugliest names for her so I hope it's a boy. Don't spill the beans ok, don't even tell Katherine," Bonnie pulled back and gave him a serious look. "I wanna be the one to tell everyone. Damon doesn't even know I've had symptoms."
"I promise."
Bonnie screamed and began jumping again.
"Whoa, whoa, enough jumping! It's not good for the baby."
"I need to go shopping. I need to tell Grams and…" her voice trailed off. Grams. Would she even be herself enough to understand she's going to have a great grandchild? Would she even be around to meet the baby?
"Hey, what just happened?"
"Nothing. I- I need to get ready. Thanks, Stefan." She hurried away before Stefan could stop her.
At the construction site, Kai watched as the two brothers stood off to the side near the break table. They seemed to be intently discussing something. Disguised in a construction hat and vest he went to put his bugged water can on the table. Then he went back to the smoking area, staying to himself with a cigarette that he lit but didn't inhale. He affixed the speaker in his ear and listened in.
"and I'm always defending her instead of taking Kat's side. Then I just pointed out how obvious her fake concern is and took her upstairs." The younger one was saying.
"That's what you've been doing for the past three years brother. When does it end?"
"To be honest I'm at my limit. As the years go by, she just proves to me more and more that she's not who I thought she was. Bonnie's like a sister to me and I know she's not going anywhere."
"You're right about that brother."
Kai heard shuffling before the older brother continued speaking.
"You think Bonnie'll like it?"
"Are you kidding me, why didn't you tell me man, I would've helped you pick it out!" The younger one exclaimed.
"It's just something I had to do on my own brother. No hard feelings. I do have one question though."
"Of course I'll be your best man, dude!"
Kai heard the sound of them hugging and glanced their way. He threw his cigarette out and mashed it with his boot. Then made his way over back to the break table. Somehow, the Salvatores had maneuvered themselves to standing in front of the table.
"Excuse me," Kai spoke in a gruff voice.
He grabbed his water jug and stalked off.
"Rude," Stefan scoffed. "Who's that guy?"
Damon shrugged. "One of the new guys. I'll find out later."
"So when are you gonna ask her?"
"Can I trust you?"
"Of course, brother."
Bonnie had been told by Damon and Stefan to get ready, both couples were going out that night. To her surprise, it wasn't Damon or Stefan who knocked on the door of her grandmother's home.
"Sheriff Forbes, how can I help you?" Bonnie asked, confused. "Is everything ok?"
The sheriff regarded her with a dismal expression. "I think we should sit down."
Bonnie's heart dropped.
