Hello everyone! This story idea popped up in my head one day and I just couldn't get it out of my head. This is just the prologue so please excuse the length. I'll try and figure out how long I want to make the upcoming chapters later, but as a novice writer I do hope you all enjoy it. Please review and let me know what you think!

In the city of Kuoh, a small child with hair the color of the sun, and three whisker marks on his face was seen roaming the streets. He wore a beige-green shirt with a red spiral in the center, and black pants with blue sandals. This was Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto was confused, he didn't understand where he was or how he got here. He had just released the Infinite Tsukuyomi with Sasuke and then suddenly he found himself unconscious in an unknown place.

'Kurama you there buddy?' Naruto asked to no response. Not getting an answer he decided to go into his mindscape. The first thing he noticed was his friend sleeping. He let out a sigh of relief assuming Kurama was recovering from their battle with Sasuke. As Naruto looked around, he began to realize his mindscape was not as it used to be. He saw that the cage that once locked Kurama away had returned, and upon looking down at the waters that lined the floors Naruto noticed his reflection to be a much younger version of himself.

"W-what the heck!? Why am I seven again!"

Expecting a reaction from his furry friend Naruto looked at him expectantly only to be disappointed. Kurama shifted around but otherwise didn't respond to the blond's incessant yelling. He thought about tearing the seal off right away but he grew concerned. What if Kurama reverted to a being of pure hatred as he'd reverted to a child? Of course, he'd take in his hatred again but right now he's only seven physically. Until they could have a proper conversation, Kurama would have to stay locked away. Well, he'd suppose this would be a small surprise.

'It looks like I'm gonna have to go at it alone for a while…'

For now, he was seven years old, had no idea where he was, had no way of getting home, and Kurama was gonna be asleep for who knows how long. He felt comforted by the fact that he and Sasuke saved the shinobi world before his disappearance, he even got through to Sasuke. He'd find a way home eventually.

Leaving his mindscape, Naruto walked into a park hoping to blow off some steam. Instead, he saw a brown-haired boy playing with what he assumed to be an orange-haired girl.

The two noticed someone new appearing at the park and ran up to him offering to play.

"Hey do you wanna play tag with us?" asked the brown-haired youth with a smile.

"Yeah come play with us, the more the better!" encouraged the young girl.

Broken out of his thoughts Naruto just looked at the two with a toothy grin. "Sure!"

If he was stuck here for the foreseeable future, he'd at least try and enjoy getting a second chance at his childhood. He'd investigate how to get back home later once he had the resources, but knowing his luck, he had a feeling it would be a long time before he could see his friends again.

"So what's your name kid?" puffed out the brown-haired boy.

With a thumb pointing towards himself and a wide grin he said. "My name is Naruto Uzumaki."

"Fishcake? That's a weird name."

"Hey! Its a better name than whatever you have weirdo."

"Wh-wha? Weirdo!? You're the weird one here, and my name is Issei Hyoudou."

Cleaning out his ear with his pinkie finger Naruto retorted. "Yeah whatever you say weirdo."

"Pft. Ahaha." The orange-haired girl began to laugh at the duo.

"Hey whats so funny Irina!?" asked an exasperated Issei.

"Hahaha. I-it's nothing." looking towards Naruto she bowed and said. "I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Irina Shidou."

"Alright now that that's out of the way lets play!" shouted Issei.

Pretending to be a child without any worries was a lot easier for Naruto than he thought it'd be. Even if it was just for a moment, he got a glimpse of a normal childhood. Soon enough it was time for Irina to go when her parents came and picked her up.

Seeing her go, both boys waved and said. "Bye Irina!"

Not long after Irina left, Issei's parents arrived and saw him running around with a blond child that they've never seen before. Seeing his parents, Issei ran up to them with a big smile.

"Mom! Dad! Meet my new friend Naruto."

Never getting to experience something like this, Naruto suddenly felt a bit shy. "H-hello I'm Naruto Uzumaki, It's nice to meet you."

"Why hello there Naruto, I'm Miki Hyoudou and this is my husband Gorou Hyoudou."

With a grin and a thumbs-up, Naruto said. "Nice to meetcha!"

Knowing it was getting late Issei wondered why Naruto's parents weren't here yet. He really wanted to introduce himself to them. "Hey Naruto. Where are your parents? I wanna say-" Issei stopped talking when he saw Naruto had a sad smile.

Gorou and Miki caught on when they saw his expression. The poor boy was an orphan. As Naruto was about to say something, Gorou got eye level with Naruto and said. "It's okay son, you don't have to say a thing."

Naruto nodded his head in understanding, and just muttered "Thank you…" He knew he loved his parents, he just wished he could experience what it was like having them with him. He'd never blame Kurama for what happened.

Issei was confused by this but, he figured he could ask his parents about this later. It was getting late, Issei in his concern asked, "Do you wanna come over to my house Naruto?"

Miki had a smile on her face when she heard this. Naturally, she agreed, no child should be left on their own. "That's a great idea honey."

Naruto didn't wanna take advantage of their kindness, but at the moment he had nothing and no one. Promising to pay them back inwardly, he put on a grin and said. "Sure! That sounds awesome!"

It happened suddenly, and now he was gone. The one who could truly understand his pain, the one who never gave up on him was gone. Sasuke didn't know what to think, one second he and Naruto were releasing the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and in the next, some kind of hole eerily reminiscent of Kaguya's portal appeared underneath them. As he lay on the ground, all his thoughts were toward his one and only friend.

"Sasuke! Are you alright!? Where's Naruto!?" shouted his pink-haired teammate in concern.

"Sakura… He's gone." muttered a despondent Sasuke.

"W-what… What do you mean he's gone?"

"I don't know… Some kind of portal opened beneath us. He pushed me out of the way…"

Hearing the despair coming from his recently returned student. "That doesn't mean he's dead. If it was anything like Kaguya's portal it means he's in another dimension. We can still find him." A silver-haired man appeared with determination in his eyes. "You still haven't tapped into the full potential of your Rinnegan. If Kaguya could open portals like that because of her eyes, then you should be able to do the same thing." the man theorized.

Sasuke widened his eyes in realization and with a small smirk he said, "Thank You. Kakashi-sensei."

Kakashi's eyes widened for a fraction before saying, "Now now, Naruto was my responsibility to begin with, we can't let him go gallivanting on his own without some backup."

Sakura looked at Sasuke and Kakashi with a grin. "We'll bring the knucklehead back. He's still gotta be Hokage after all."

As the three looked on, all the cocoons for the Infinite Tsukuyomi began to open and free the trapped inhabitants. Then and there Sasuke made a promise to himself. 'I'll find you Naruto, I know you're still alive. That's a promise of a lifetime.'
