**************June 21, 2015, 5:45 Pacific Time***************

It had a been a week since Missy and Leonard2's wedding.

As had been previously planned, they had all returned to Pasadena. Leonard1 was surprised that Sheldon2 and Penny2 had bought a house. Apparently Leonard2 and Missy had planned to live in Sheldon's old apartment.

Everyone was glad this had happened in the summer since Leonard had no teaching responsibilities. Leonard2 had also taken a month off because of the wedding and a planned honeymoon trip to Canada.

When Missy said she was planning on canceling the trip, Penny came up with the suggestion that she go with her. Missy was doubtful at first, but finally agreed it might be a good idea to get away. The guys assured them they would let them know immediately of any developments. Leonard would stay in 4A while they were gone.

Sheldon and Leonard spent almost all their free time together to learn all they could on Parallel universes. Although there was a lot of theory, none of it led them closer to a possible solution.

Leonard was gratified to stay busy to try to keep him from the despair of being separated from Penny, trying to ignore the fact that it was entirely possible he might never see her again.

He also was a little angry at himself that it seemed to bother him sometimes that Sheldon and Penny were together.

***************** July 7, 2015, 5:25 Pacific Time*****************

Missy and Penny2 had been back for a few days. When they had returned, Missy had moved into 4A with Leonard1, her taking Sheldon's old room. This particular afternoon, Sheldon and Penny were at work and Missy had gone shopping. As usual, Leonard was going over some material on Parallel Universes.

He was surprised when there was a knock on the door. He was even more surprised when he saw it was Penny still dressed in her Cheesecake Factory uniform.

"Hey, Penny, I thought you were working."

"It was so slow they asked if anyone wanted to go home. I have been planning to come over for a while, so thought I would take them up on their offer."

She looked around, "Where's Missy?"

"She went shopping. She should be back soon."

"That's fine, it's really you I wanted to talk to. Could I have a glass of wine?"

When they were settled, Penny took a good drink and after a deep breath, "Ever since this has happened, some things I thought were long buried have come back."

She sighed, "I also remembered how you acted when you heard that Sheldon and I were married." She smiled ruefully, "I realized they might be similar to what I felt when you said you and I were married."

She took another sip, "I probably shouldn't be saying this, but I just need to get it off my chest."

She caught his eyes, "I wanted to tell you about how we broke up."

She finished her glass, "One night, while we were in bed after making love, you told me you loved me and I couldn't or wouldn't say it back. We both tried to pretend it was no big deal, but we both knew better. I came to believe I was not being fair to you, to keep you dangling when I wasn't sure if I could ever say it."

She went on, looking down, "Then, you slept with some professor bitch that was visiting Sheldon. I later found out she was really a slut that threw herself at men. But it still hurt me." She looked up at him, "I knew I had no right to feel that way, after all, I was the one that called it off, but…"

"Then, Missy came to visit and you guys were all agog about her. When she agreed to date you, I knew I needed to move on."

"I…" She hesitated and then shook her head, "Damn it. I shouldn't have come."

Leonard stared at her. Finally, he got out, "I think I know what you are trying to say. For whatever it is worth, those events occurred in my world also."

He smiled ruefully, "Except in my world, Missy wanted nothing to do with me. You and I had gone back to being friends and eventually, we got back together."

He went on, "It was also true in my world that Sheldon found someone."

In spite of how she was feeling, she had to ask, "Who was she?"

"Did you know about Howard and Raj trying to set Sheldon up with someone online?"

Penny stared, "I do remember." She smirked, "Sheldon went on and on about how Raj had tried to fool him."

"Well, in my world, it worked and when he went with them, he found his wife."

Penny just stared, amazed at how easily lives could be so affected.

She said, "I know I should just leave, but I need you to know. I did love you; I was just afraid of what it meant."

She started to stand up, "Don't misunderstand, I do love Sheldon and I am not sad with my life. And I know that the other Leonard loves Missy. I just hope you two can get back to where you belong."

"Thank you, Penny. I just have to believe we will." He hesitated, "Don't worry about what you told me. I will never tell anyone." He smirked, "Except you of course."

She looked puzzled at him for a moment and then smiled, "I guess that's okay."

She hesitated and then moved to give him a hug, which he returned.

**********June 14, 2015, 7:30 Pacific time***************

Managing to convince them he was fine and they could leave the infirmary, they obtained a sheet to wrap around Leonard2 and with Penny1 driving, made their way to Apartment 4A.

During the drive, with Sheldon of course sitting in the front seat, Penny found herself looking back at Leonard. Her mind was running a mile a minute. What was this all about? What was her husband doing in his underwear? Why was he acting so strange? Then there was the kiss… As absurd as it seemed, it had been like kissing a stranger.

when Leonard went into the bedroom and got dressed, he noticed it was not as he had left it.

When he came out, they were all sitting, waiting for him. He sat down in his usual chair noticing Penny wasn't sitting next to Sheldon. Penny asked him if he wanted anything and he told her water would be fine.

After taking a drink, he sighed, "Can someone tell me what the Hell is going on?"

Sheldon spoke up, "We were hoping you would. For example, where are your clothes?"

Leonard looked at him and managed a smile, "I would imagine on a chair in a hotel room in Dallas, Texas."

They all stared at him. He went on, looking at his watch, "About an hour and a half ago, I was laying in a bed in the Honeymoon suite in the Lancaster hotel, waiting for my wife to come out of the bathroom."

Penny turned to Sheldon, "We never should have let him talk us into leaving. It is obvious something is wrong. Maybe he hit his head."

When she mentioned his head, Amy realized something else had been bothering her, "Leonard, why is it your hair is longer than it was earlier today?"

Penny and Sheldon realized she was right. Penny realized how upset she had been that she missed that. She sighed, what the hell was going on?

Something suddenly occurred to Sheldon. It was of course absurd, but it did offer a possible solution.

He asked, "Leonard, can I ask you a question?"

"If it will shed any light on this."

"You said it was a honeymoon suite, how long have you and Penny been married?"

Leonard stared at him, "Penny? What are you up to? I am not married to Penny, Penny is your wife. My wife is your sister, Missy."

Penny opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She just stared at him, her eyes widening.

Sheldon was the only one who seemed calm, "I have a theory what is going on. Although it is hard to believe, it seems to be the only logical one I can come up with."

Penny managed to get out, "Well, don't keep us waiting. It better be damn good to explain how my husband says he was going to have sex with another woman and thinks I am married to you."

Sheldon went on, "I want to check a couple more things. Leonard, what do you do for a living?"

"I don't know why you're asking me; you know I teach Math and Science at UCLA."

While Penny could only stare, getting more and more upset, Amy was catching up.

She broke in, "I remember something else." She turned to Leonard, "When you were in your underwear, I didn't see your appendectomy scar. I suppose it could still have been covered."

Leonard stared at her, "I never had an appendectomy."

Sheldon took a deep breath, "There can only be one conclusion. This man is not the same Leonard we know."

Penny finally realized what he was saying, she remembered the kiss, "If he isn't Leonard…"

She started to cry, "Then, where's my husband?"

With Amy's help and a glass of wine they finally got Penny a little calmed down, although she was still sobbing quietly.

Leonard spoke up, "Okay, let's say you're right. Then what am I, some clone? Or just someone that looks exactly like Leonard who can get from Dallas to Pasadena in about an hour?"

Sheldon smirked, "I suppose those are possibilities, but a much better explanation is that you are here from a Parallel Universe."

Penny sat up, wiping at her tears. "You're saying he came from another universe? Is that where my Leonard is?"

Sheldon looked sadly at her, "I really don't know, Penny. I suppose that is a possibility."

Penny started to cry again, "You're saying I may never see him again."

They talked long about if they should contact the authorities, but finally decided they would at wait and explore the idea that Leonard was indeed from another universe.

For more than a week, Penny stayed in her room, clutching a pillow with Leonard's scent on it. Her employer was not happy, but she frankly didn't care. The thought of trying to schmooze a bunch of doctors had no appeal. Amy took off from work and stayed in the apartment, making sure she ate something.

Finally, Penny realized she couldn't go on like this. But she also knew she needed to have a change of scenery, to get away.

Talking her boss into giving her a leave without pay and getting the guys assurance that they would let her know immediately if they found something, she decided to go home to Nebraska, to be with her parents.

*************July 12, 2015, 5:45 Pacific time **************

Leonard1 and Missy were sitting and watching TV.

Suddenly Leonard hit pause and turned toward Missy, "There is something we need to talk about."

Missy was surprised but nodded.

Leonard took a deep breath, "It's almost been a month, I think we both have to face the fact it may be a long time, if ever, we see Leonard and Penny."

He hesitated, "I think it is time for me to get a place of my own."

He went on, "We both knew this living arrangement was just temporary." He ran his finger through his hair, "I just need to be alone for a while. Maybe someday, I will be able to let her go and find someone, but I am nowhere near that now."

Missy looked at him and then smiled sadly, "I will miss you, but I know what you are saying."

She hesitated, "I haven't wanted to say anything, but it is sometimes difficult being here with you…"

Leonard nodded and got up and moved over to her and gave her a hug. Sitting back down, he restarted the TV.

At that moment, 6:12 Pacific time, there was a flash of light. To Missy's shock, Leonard suddenly disappeared and almost instantly another Leonard appeared.

Leonard2 stared in amazement. Could it be? He moved toward her, "Missy?"

Missy2 managed to find her voice, "Leonard, is it you?"

When he took her in his arms and crushed his lips to hers, there was no more doubt. Finally, they broke apart. Still holding hands, they moved to the couch.

Still stunned at what had happened, Missy finally got out, "Where were you? What happened to the other Leonard?"

**************July 12, 2015, 6:12 Pacific time************************

After they had entered the hotel room, Leonard3 stood nervously while 'Carol' looked around. Suddenly she said, "God Damn it. Somebody forgot to change the sheets again. I bet it was that Bitch Darleen."

She turned back to him, "Okay that will be $200." Leonard took out his wallet and handed her two $100 bills. She nodded and said, "We'll have to change the sheets, stay here."

She walked over to a closet and opened the door. Before she took out a clean sheet, she smirked. She was on the clock; she could give him something. She quickly whipped off her top revealing she wore nothing underneath. Smiling, she grabbed a sheet and started to turn back to him. Just then there was a flash of light.

Leonard3 looked around in amazement. The hotel room had been replaced with what appeared to be his lab. He went out into the hall, almost running into someone coming down the hall. To his amazement, he saw it was Sheldon1. What the Hell had happened? Where was the prostitute? How had he got back here? Sheldon1 looked on in amazement. For a moment he wondered if Leonard1 had returned but somehow he knew this wasn't him. This man was also wearing different clothes than the other Leonard2 had been wearing. What new madness was this?

Leonard1 stood amazed and shocked. Looking around, he shook his head internally, 'Not again. How do I always end up in hotel rooms?' For a moment he wondered if he was back in his universe.

Just then he noticed a woman with her back to him. He noticed she had long black hair and her back was bare.

As Carol turned back toward him, she stared at him in disbelief. The man that stood before her had the same face but at the same time it was obvious something had happened. His hair and clothes were different. What the hell was going on?

Leonard stared at the woman in front of him. His eyes widened as he saw she was topless. But the real shock was when he raised his eyes to her face. Somehow he managed to get out, "Penny?"
