As Leonard1 awoke, he felt something warm and soft against him. He looked down and saw Penny4 had rolled against him, her breasts pressed against his side with only a thin top separating them. For a moment, he just smiled at her and then it all came back. This was not his Penny4.

He thought of pulling away but found he had not moved. He told himself it was because he didn't want to wake her but knew he was deceiving himself. He knew he should feel guilty but realized how much he had missed this contact.

When he heard her coming awake, he closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep.

Penny awoke, feeling herself cuddling up to Leonard. She smiled contently and then it struck her, this was not her husband. Seeing he was still asleep; she knew she should move away but was not going to deprive herself of this. She told herself she didn't want to wake him.

The moment was interrupted when the door opened and Sara came bounding into the room and jumped on the bed, "Good morning, Mommy, Daddy."

Penny and Leonard quickly unentangled themselves as they told Sara good morning. Sara jumped back off the bed, "Can I have Cocoa Puffs for breakfast?"

When Penny assured her she could, she rushed off.

Penny smiled at Leonard, "Welcome to the world of parenting."

Leonard smiled back. Then there was an awkward moment as they remembered how they had been together in the bed. Penny said, "I know I should feel guilty but I needed that."

Leonard nodded, "I feel the same." He hesitated, "I love my wife, but I also think I have feelings for you."

Seeing the look on her face, he hurried on, "As a friend."

She nodded, "'I feel the same."

They put on robes and joined Sara in the kitchen.

Later, Penny and Sara told Leonard goodbye as he set out for work, hoping he would be able to figure out what was going on. He wondered if his experiment had been a success and what awaited him.

Penny and Sara were watching TV when Sara hesitantly spoke up, "Mommy, is there something wrong with Daddy?"

Penny was caught off guard; she finally managed to say, "Why are you asking that?"

"He hasn't called me Sara-Bear since yesterday morning. He didn't even hug me and tickle me at all this morning."

Penny felt sad as she realized in being caught up with all that had happened, she had forgot about how Sara could sense something about Leonard as well. She was going to chide herself for not talking to Leonard but then realized that would have not helped and might have made it worse. There was a certain way her husband hugged and tickled Sara and how he said Sara-Bear. Sara would have known the difference. Wondering what she should say, she finally told Sara, "Daddy is working on something very important at work and we need to be understanding. I am sure he will soon be his old self."

She went on, "Do you understand, Sweetie."

Sara looked a little confused but finally said, "I guess."

Fighting to start tearing up, Penny picked her up and hugged her, "You know that Daddy and I love you very much, don't you?"

"Yes, Mommy."

Penny put her down, "How about if we see if Jenny is available and we can all go to the park. Would you like that?"

Sara smiled, "Can we get ice cream too?"

"Of course."

Leonard was able to find some notes and was gratified to see the experiment had been a success. He had to smile to himself because it was something he had done several months before. Not knowing exactly how to proceed, he just spent the morning straightening up the lab. Not knowing if he ate with anyone, he took a late lunch.

The afternoon passed without incident and he sighed with relief as he headed back to the apartment.

He reminded himself that he should try to find out the next day if he had any vacation time coming.

When he got home, he sensed something was going on. Sara was acting a little strange. When he asked Penny, she told him about what Sara had said and told him Sara was apparently being careful not to upset him.

Leonard wondered if he should do anything. Finally, to Penny's surprise, he sat down by Sara and took her in his lap. "Sara, I know Mommy told you about me and work, but everything is okay. I love you." He hesitated and then decided to try it, "After all, you are my Sara-Bear."

Sara smiled happily at him, "I love you, too, Daddy," and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Penny found herself tearing up and had to turn away.

After they had put Sara down for the night, they sat on the couch. Leonard suddenly realized there was something he wanted to. Whatever the situation was between this Leonard and Sheldon, he wanted Sheldon to know about what was happening. He knew how important it would be to Sheldon.

"Penny, I want to go and see Sheldon and Amy."

Penny was surprised, "Why?"

"Because I know he would want to know about what has happened." She sighed, "And I guess I just miss him and Amy."

He went on, "I know I should leave it alone, but I just need to try."

Penny reached out and touched his hand, "Okay. I think I understand." She looked at him, "But I am going with you. Why don't we see if Jenny can stay with Sara tomorrow after work and we will go over there?"

"Don't you think we should call first? Do you know where they live?"

"If we call, they may say no. As for where they live, Leonard once thought of making a try but changed his mind."

The next day at work, Leonard discovered he had two weeks of vacation coming. Smirking to himself, wondering what the other Leonard would think of him using it up, he was gratified to find he could take it immediately since the project was finished.

That night after work, with Jenny and her mother available to feed and take care of Sara, Penny and Leonard set off for Los Angeles.

As he drove, Penny filled him in more about what had happened. They had not even been invited to the wedding.

For his part, Leonard was wondering how he would be able to prove to Sheldon he was telling the truth. It was obvious this Sheldon would not be open to trusting him. He could even believe he was doing this to hurt his career further.

But then when she said wedding, he mentally hit himself in the head. He turned to Penny with a big smile on his face, "I can't believe I almost forgot what I have to convince Sheldon I am telling the truth."

He shook his head, "I could have used it before this."

When she looked at him inquisitively, he took out his wallet and handed it to her, "Take out the picture and look at it."

When Penny did so, her eyes widened and she smiled at him.

When they arrived at the apartment, Leonard had to smile. The apartment was on the fourth floor. It was numbered 41 instead of 4A, but Leonard still shook his head.

Then taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door. They heard a woman's voice, "Who's there?"

"Leonard and Penny Hofstadter."

There was a long silence, and they were about to speak again when the door opened and Amy looked at them, "What are you two doing here?"

Leonard sighed, "We need to talk to Sheldon."

Amy sighed back, "I am not sure that is a good idea."

Just then they heard Sheldon's voice, "Who is it?"

Amy hesitated and then said, "It's Leonard and Penny."

"What do they want? Tell them I don't want to see them."

Before Amy could speak, "Leonard said, "Please, Sheldon, just give me a chance. I want to talk to you about a scientific breakthrough."

There was another long silence, "What scientific breakthrough could you possible know about that I wouldn't?"

"Come on, Sheldon, just give me ten minutes. Then if you want me to go, I will, and won't bother you again." He hesitated, "You will regret it if you don't give me that."

Sheldon came up to the door, "I am sure I will regret listening to you, but I guess I can waste ten minutes."

As they entered, Leonard smiled to himself, the apartment was set up just like his old apartment. He just knew Sheldon would sit in his spot.

Penny also noticed and smiled too when she saw Sheldon sit on the end of the couch. Amy spoke up, "Can I get you anything?"

Sheldon spoke up, "There is no need for that, Amy, they will not be staying long."

"Sheldon, no matter what we feel or how long they stay, they are our guests."

Sheldon shook his head but didn't say anything.

Penny and Leonard both said they could use some water.

Amy nodded and after bringing back the water, they all sat.

Sheldon spoke up, "So, Leonard, what is this great breakthrough?"

"I have absolute proof that Parallel Universes exist."

Sheldon eyes widened for a moment and then he did his irritating laugh, "Really, Leonard. That is why you came over here, to make such a ludicrous claim. Am I supposed to appreciate the joke and we laugh together and are friends again?"

He went on, "Tell me, Leonard, how would you know about this miracle breakthrough and I and the rest of the scientific world has no knowledge of it?"

Leonard smiled, "Because I am not your Leonard, I am from a parallel universe. In fact, this is the third universe I have visited."

Again Sheldon appeared shocked but quickly recovered, "Okay, Leonard, what is this all about? Why are you wasting my time with this charade?"

Penny spoke up, "I know it sounds crazy, Sheldon, but I believe him."

Amy spoke up, "Leonard, I have often wished you and Sheldon could get back together, but this is not helping."

Leonard looked at them, "What if I had undisputable proof of what I am saying?"

For the first time, Sheldon began to realize he was serious. "What proof could you possibly have?"

Leonard smiled, "Since all the previous Leonards were still friends with Sheldon, I never needed more proof and completely forgot all about this. But then, it wouldn't have had the same impact as it will here."

He took out his wallet and taking out the picture he had shown Penny, handed it to Sheldon.

As Sheldon took it, Amy moved over to look over his shoulder. They were amazed to see a picture apparently taken of the four of them at Amy and Sheldon's wedding.

Sheldon was shook, but then recovered, "It is an excellent job of photoshopping, I must admit, but hardly overwhelming proof."

But Amy's eyes were like saucers, "Sheldon, look at my dress!"

"What about it?"

"It's the one I wanted to wear, but my mother talked me out of it."

Sheldon looked and sighed, "I hated that she did that, I thought you looked beautiful."

Then his eyes widened too. Amy nodded, "How could Leonard have known about that? And how would he get a picture of me in it?"

Leonard added, "Check the developed date on the back. It is almost a year before you were married in this universe."

Sheldon and Amy just stared, "You really are from another universe?"

Leonard smiled, "That's what I have been trying to tell you."

Then he went on and told the whole story. Of how he spent twenty-eight days on each world. How he and the other Sheldons had formulated the theory of the other Leonards returning to their worlds.

When he finished, Sheldon sat back, "So I, meaning the other Sheldons, believe that on September 6, our Leonard will return and you will travel to another universe."

"Yes, but I hope at some point, I will return to my world."

Sheldon was now excited, "Can I ask you about your world? The Universe you come from?"

When Leonard nodded, "You said you and I are still friends. So, you never betrayed me."

Leonard sighed, "We did go to the North Pole and we did get false hits and I did neglect to tell him what I knew until we got back home." He paused, "But my Sheldon came to believe that my actions did not affect the results, that the mission was a failure. He also forgave me for waiting to tell him."

Sheldon contemplated that, "You said you have been on two other worlds. Were you and Sheldon friends on those?"

"Yes. But to be honest, I never thought to ask if the North Pole trip ever happened there."

There was a long silence as everyone tried to come to terms with all that had happened.

Finally, Amy spoke up. "I don't know about all of you, but I am starved. We were going to order Pizza…"

Penny spoke up, "That sounds good." She hesitated, "Amy, why don't you and I order it and pick it up?"

Amy looked surprised, but then smiled, "That sounds like a good idea."

After the Pizza was ordered and the women left, Sheldon asked, "So what do you do on your world?"

"I am an experimental physicist at Caltech just as I am here." He paused, "You and Amy have the same professions, but you both work at Caltech."

Sheldon nodded, "How about you and Penny?"

"We are married but have no children. We live in your old apartment and you and Amy live across the hall."

There was another period of silence before Leonard took a deep breath, "Sheldon, have you ever thought of trying to mend the fences with your Leonard?"

Sheldon looked surprised. He got up and walked over to the window and looked out. He then spoke in such a low voice that Leonard could barely hear him, "When we got back, I filed a complaint and there was a board of inquiry. Their ruling agreed with what your Sheldon apparently came to believe, that your actions did not affect the results."

After a few minutes, he walked back, "Actually, at some level, I believed that to be true." He sat back down, "But it didn't really matter. I hated him because he had let me believe that the mission was a success. I wanted to believe it, I needed to believe it."

He looked at Leonard, "You gave me my Nobel and then took it away."

They sat in silence for a while before Sheldon spoke again, "But now with what you are telling me; knowing that we did find a way to be friends again on other worlds…"

He sighed, "I will think about what you have said."

Penny looked over at Amy. She wondered what her relationship was with the Amy on Leonard's world. With Sheldon and Leonard being friends, she had to assume she and Amy were friends of some sort.

She would have been surprised if she had known Amy was pondering the same thing. She also wondered if anything would change because of this. If they were right, this Leonard would be around for about a month. Perhaps since this was not the Leonard Sheldon was so angry at, they could spend time together and she could get to know Penny. So, if and when their Leonard did return…
