Penny1 sat with Leonard5 in Apartment 4C. If everything went as before, he would be leaving in less than an hour. Sheldon1 and Amy were at the lab as usual. Same as the previous time, she would wait for a text message letting her know whether it was yes or no.

These twenty-eight days had been the most confusing.

During them, she had come to realize that her feelings of despair were not only due to missing Leonard, but her dealing with each of the Leonards. It had been an emotional roller coaster. She had felt something for each of them. She had shared emotions with each of them. Each of them draining a little from her.

But her reactions to this Leonard had been the most complex. She had felt much stronger emotions with him.

Working with him had enabled her to escape from her constant thinking of her Leonard, but at the same time had made her feel guilty. She had enjoyed being with him. She remembered how close they had come to cheating on their spouses. The worst was that she often found herself wondering what it would have been like.

She often felt herself feeling ashamed that she envied this Leonard and his Penny. It made her feel like she was unsatisfied with her life with Leonard.

She also realized she would hate to see this Leonard go. She had to admit that in a way, she was in love with him. She just hoped he was going back to his world. After all, no one really knew what was happening.

She had also started to have thoughts that her husband might already be dead. No, she couldn't believe that, she had to believe he would someday return to her. She just didn't know how long she could emotionally deal with more and more Leonards.

She had told herself she would stay for three more before going home, but she was seriously considering going home now.

Leonard looked over at her, wondering what she was thinking. He felt guilty, not for the first time, knowing how strong his feelings were for her. Working with her on the script had been wonderful. He felt he had helped her, at least for a short time, escape from thinking about her situation.

As for what was about to happen, he was torn. He was of course excited about the thought of returning home. But he knew that was just a theory, no one knew what was going to happen. He could go to another world or disappear. He also realized he would miss this Penny. He had to admit he could easily fall in love with her.

Deciding he didn't want to think of all that anymore, he spoke up, "Penny, what do you want to do with this script?"

Penny was surprised, but grateful they could talk about something that was safe, she answered, "I hadn't thought about it." She hesitated, "I think you should take it with you."

"I could leave a copy and some names I have worked with in my Universe. Maybe when your Leonard returns, you could use it to try to start a career."

Penny was tempted but then knew what she needed to do, "No, you take it. We should also delete it from the laptop." Seeing the look on his face, she hurried on, "Even if it did what you say, my Leonard would be out of his comfort zone. They would probably want changes or additions. We do not know if he has any writing talent at all. I think it would also be difficult for him, knowing that he couldn't help me." She paused, "It is even possible he could be hurt knowing how we had worked on it, that it was important to me."

She smiled, "Besides, it is your work. We would be stealing it."

Leonard pondered what she was saying. He wanted to contradict her but realized she was probably right. He knew she had often felt guilty, thinking she was inferring that there was something missing in her life with Leonard.

"I want to argue but you are probably right." He smiled, "Maybe you should encourage your Leonard to take up writing again. Maybe we all have some talent."

Before leaving for New York, Leonard1 had decided he wanted to see and spend time with the Sheldon5 and Amy of this world. He also wanted to share what was happening with Sheldon, knowing how interesting it would be to him. He also had to admit he was wondering if this Sheldon would arrive at the same theory.

When they arrived at the apartment, Amy rushed forward to give Penny a big hug, "I am so glad to see you. I know we congratulated you over the phone but I have wanted to do it in person. Congratulations, we are so proud of you."

After also receiving a less enthusiastic congratulations from Sheldon, Leonard smiled and congratulated Sheldon and Amy on their Nobel.

Sheldon thanked him but wondered why he was doing it again at this time.

Leonard gave a big smile and said, "That's why I wanted to talk to you. You better sit down."

Sometime later, after Leonard had told the whole story and Sheldon and Amy had become convinced, Sheldon spoke up, "I must say, that is an amazing series of events. For the most part, I think I agree with the theory the other Sheldons have come up with. It also has the advantage of providing hope that all Leonards will return to their rightful place."

He went on, "I am still a little bewildered how I was ever married to Penny, however."

Penny smirked, "I feel the same way."

He smiled, "I have to admit tough I am somewhat gratified that Amy and I are the only ones who have won a Nobel Prize."

Amy broke in, "He has only been on five worlds, Sheldon. There are likely untold numbers of worlds we have won a Nobel."

She turned to Leonard, "In fact, I assume Leonard has probably already researched our Nobel in order to help other Sheldons and Amys."

Seeing the look on Sheldon's face, Leonard smiled, "Actually, I haven't. I don't think I should interfere. If my Sheldon wins one, it will be on his own merits."

He sighed, "That's assuming I ever get home."

Penny quickly said, "Don't say that, Leonard. You need to believe you will get home."

Amy quickly spoke up, "She's right, Leonard."

Leonard smiled, "Thank you for that. You're right, I need to hope for that."

They broke up soon after that and left with Sheldon and Amy telling Penny to let them know what happens on the fourth of October.

That night, after they got in bed, Penny moved over and snuggled against him, wanting to comfort him in some way.

Penny5 and Leonard1 sat side by side on the couch in Penny's apartment in New York. If everything continued on schedule, Leonard would soon be leaving.

Although Penny was of course anticipating the return of her husband, she also knew she would be sad to see this Leonard leave. She was torn between deeply conflicting emotions. She so wanted for him to be able to return to his Penny. But she had greatly enjoyed the time they had spent together.

It had been so exciting to work with him on the script. It had taken her back to those first days her Leonard had discovered his talent. She had been impressed by this Leonard. She really felt he had potential. She had thought about showing his work to some people she knew but realized he would soon be gone. She had made sure that he was taking the work he had done with him.

She wanted to believe he would be able to share it with his Penny.

Leonard looked over at her. Of all the worlds he had visited, this had been the most confusing. He didn't know if it was the result of being with so many Pennys and feeling something for all of them, or that he was beginning to doubt he would ever get home. He just knew it was becoming more and more difficult for him to not get involved. He was just so lonely and missed his Penny so much.

Penny broke the silence, "Well, I guess this is it." She reached out and took his hands, "I will miss you."

Leonard smiled, "I will miss you, too."

"I know it doesn't mean anything, but I just have a feeling you are going home." She smiled, "You know how you talked about the significance of the number twenty-eight in Numerology?"

Leonard nodded, wondering why she had brought that up.

She went on, "I looked up number 5." She squeezed his hands, "It is the favorite number of almost everyone. It is a lucky number, bestowing good fortune. It is also a symbol of change."

Leonard smiled, "I hope you're right."

Looking up at the clock, he leaned forward and kissed her softly on the mouth, then told her she better move away. Promptly at 6:12 P.M. Pacific Time, there was a bright light and he disappeared, to be replaced by another Leonard dressed in a tuxedo.

Penny looked at him, "Leonard?"

He looked around and then smiled, "Well?"

She stared, "Well what?"?"

"Did you win?"

She glared at him, "We are back together after a month and that's the first thing you want to know?"

He smiled, "Well, did you?"

She smiled broadly, "YES, I won."

He moved forward and crushed her in his arms, kissing her passionately. Finally, they broke apart and after regaining her breath, she took his hand, "Okay, I have waited a long time to celebrate my win by having fantastic sex."

He smiled and quickly got up and accompanied her to the bedroom.

As the clock passed six, Penny1 leaned over and kissed Leonard5 softly on the lips. "Goodbye, Leonard. I just know you will soon be with your Penny. I have really enjoyed the time I have spent with you."

She smiled, "I hope your wife won the Oscar."

He smiled back, "I hope so, too." He turned serious, "I will miss you, Penny." He hesitated, "I think you really have potential as an actress. You should take another shot." He hesitated, "I hope with all my heart your Leonard will return."

Penny teared up a little, "Thank you." She paused, "I will miss you too."

Then, she moved away. At precisely 6:12, he disappeared.

Sighing, she wiped at her eyes and waited for her phone to signal an incoming message.

When it did, she forced herself to look, steeling herself for another crushing of her hopes.

Then, her eyes widened. She felt her heart threatening to burst out of her chest, she found herself overcome with emotion, smiling broadly as tears poured down her cheeks. Her hands shaking, she checked again, not believing what she had seen.

It was still the same, 'YES!'
