Mary's House

April 2011

Same Day

"If that baby ain't the cutest thing, I don't know what is," Mary gushed as Josh and Aiden loaded four-year-old Sara into her car seat. "Aiden has really grown up. Look at him, a daddy now."

Hayley and Mary stood on the small porch to watch them go. They waved goodbye and pulled out leaving a cloud of dust.

"Yeah, they are real sweet. They will make good parents, she's a lucky girl." Hayley bit her lip. "So how was your trip?"

Mary turned and gave Hayley a furious look. "Don't try to small talk me, Missy. What in God's name were ya thinking today? That coach said you are lucky you don't get expelled. Skipping out on schooling?"

"Expelled? That's a stretch! So I skipped. Not a huge deal! Kids do it all the time," Hayley argued. She wondered if Mary even cared that much.

"Not my kids!" Mary snapped back. "You know better! What if something happened and we didn't know where ya were? Huh? What then?"

Hayley's ire died. She realized that Mary did care.

"I'm sorry, Mary. I just want the kids, like me, without families to have a future," Hayley replied softly.

Mary put an arm around her. "Darling, you have a home here. And a family, I wish you wouldn't say things like that. I know I'm rough and hard to get on with, but I do love you."

"I'm sorry, Mary. I know you took me in last year, but staying with Marcel and Rebekah in the city made me realize what it's like to have two parents," Hayley started. "I mean, I also saw another way of living."

"City livin'? Look, I know this ain't the easiest life but this is our land, Crescent land. If your parents would have lived, then they would have brung you up here," Mary stated. She looked out on her own land and her eyes grew misty. "It ain't much. But it's home."

Ollie banged open the screen door.

"Grandma, are we having supper tonight?" Ollie asked. "Hey, Hayley, got in some trouble I hear..."

"What do you think? Get in there and chop up those vegetables I set you to," Mary sassed. "Come on, Hayley, let's eat."

"I'm not hungry," Hayley said dully. She looked out at the landscape and worried about those struggling. How could she just forget about them?

Ollie poked his head out. "Heard you got the paddle at school finally!"

Hayley turned to him with a horrified look on her face. "What?"

"Yeah, you got Jean Ann in a bunch of trouble. Her brother said she got a lickin' at home. Hope you're proud of yourself!" Ollie scoffed.

Jackson loomed behind Ollie, "Shut up, Oliver. It ain't none of your business. Plus, Jean Ann ain't your girlfriend. Now, leave Hayley alone."

Ollie smirked and said, "Just mentioning it. You can calm down, bro. I'm just talkin' here. Dan said that Coach Cormier really whacked them good, not as bad as we get it, but good!"
Ollie was enjoying taunting Hayley. Hayley wondered if he wasn't jealous of her for "taking" Jackson away from him. But he was starting to really piss her off.

Mary hollered, "Ollie, get your behind in here and do what I asked you to do 20 minutes ago."

Hayley followed Ollie in and got the water pitcher out of the ice box. Ollie smiled again, "I'm doing it...I just think it's funny that Hayley got a paddlin' for fighting. Plus, did y'all tell her that the coach is going whup her again tomorrow? For skipping today!"

Hayley slammed down the pitcher and looked up in alarm. "What? Is that true?"

Mary glared at Oliver. "You have a big, damn mouth, boy! If I have to talk to you one more time tonight I'm going to have Jack take the strap to you. Do you understand?"

Ollie grew serious. "Yeah, I do. It's just she acts so high and mighty and she ain't no better than me."

Jackson saw the pain in Hayley's face and guided her out to the small living room.

"Don't pay him no mind. He's being an ignorant fool tonight. I think Jean Ann blew him off," Jackson whispered. Hayley just sniffed and nodded. She knew Ollie had a tendency to lash out at others when he was hurt, but she was still upset that he targeted her.

"But Jackson, I don't want to get another paddling. She might not be a Crescent, but Cormier is still a werewolf. She's going to really give it to me!" Hayley whined.

"Sorry, darling, but you did the crime, you do the time. Why didn't you just wait?"

Hayley looked up at Jackson with tears on her lashes, "I don't know! But if Ollie says another damn word, I'm going to go ballistic on him! I never made fun of him when he got pops at school."

Jackson nodded and leaned in for a kiss. He whispered, "I know. He's a little jealous of you. You know that, right?"

Hayley rolled her eyes, "He needs to grow up and get his own wolf. You are mine."

Jackson grinned and kissed her again, longer and deeper. He wished they had another night together.

From the kitchen, they heard Ollie grumbling. Then, Mary shouted, "That's it. Go to your room. If you can't act civil, then your supper can wait."

Ollie pleaded for another chance but Mary stomped over to the hook near the door where the old, wide, leather strap hung. It was stiff and she could no longer wield it, but Ollie didn't want to take that chance. He passed Jackson and Hayley quickly and wordlessly.

Mary came out and addressed them. "Hayley, you help me with the gumbo. Jackson, you deal with Oliver's rudeness and disobedience. It's been too long since he got a good licking."

Jackson looked uncomfortable. "You sure, Grandma? He's probably tired from the drive. You don't want to just send him to bed early?"

"I know he's like a brother to you, but you are his alpha. That boy goes too long without a licking and he turns feral. I'd do it myself if I could. After, we'll have supper ready," Mary vowed. "I ain't gonna starve the boy. That would be cruel and unusual...Hurray, would ya?"

Jackson patted Hayley on the shoulder and made his way to the bedroom he shared with Ollie. This was not going to be easy on either of them. But his grandmother was right, Jackson was an alpha and he needed to do what was needed.

Jackson and Ollie's Bedroom

Ollie was miffed. Couldn't a guy speak the truth without getting pounded for it, Ollie thought. He only had a second to sit down on the bed before Jack came in. When he slammed their bedroom door shut, Ollie looked up in alarm.

"Come on, Jack. I was just shootin' the shit. I didn't mean nothin' by it. Don't get your panties in a bunch," Ollie tried. "People around here are wussies."

Jackson's eyes burned yellow a second and Ollie bowed his head.

"Oliver, I swear that mouth of yours makes me want to knock you out cold sometimes," Jackson fumed. "You never know when to just shut the heck up!"

Ollie wouldn't have taken that from anyone else, but Jackson was his best friend, too. He saw the worst and the best in him.

"Sorry, man," Ollie mumbled. "I'm done. I'll make it right with Hayley."

Jackson pulled up a chair and turned it so he could sit and rest his arms on the back.

"You will, but I think you know what you got coming," Jackson warned.

"I don't see that old strap in your hand," Ollie grinned, trying to smooth things over. "You ain't gonna put me over your knee, right?"

"Nope, I got something else planned for your misbehavin' butt." Jackson stood, "I'm fixin' to use my belt on ya."

Ollie paled, "Oh damn, Jack. Is Grandma really that pissed?"

"I reckon she is, so is Hayley. She ain't never got whupped in school before, like ever. She's embarrassed and you made it worse. I know you like that Jean girl, but it sounds like she had it comin'. Ollie, she didn't come up with us, but Hayley is a Crescent, too," Jackson said softly.

Ollie met Jackson's eyes with shame. "Yeah, that is true. I disrespected the pack. I guess Jean Ann is kind of a slut anyways. Fuck, where you want me?"

"You curse like that when I'm licking ya and I'm going to soap out your mouth, boy. And that ain't no way to speak of a female. What's got into you? Over the bed. Might as well, drop them drawers," Jackson drawled.

Ollie cursed, "Shit, this sucks! I'm getting whooped over a hussy who hasn't even put out for me."

Jackson stepped forward and lightly cuffed Ollie on the back of the head as he turned to face the wall.

"I'm getting the soap," Jackson said firmly. "You need to start showing some respect." He walked to the small hallway closet and got a new bar of Dial. He unwrapped it and went in the small bathroom to get a washrag and a cup of water.

When Jackson came back in the bedroom, Ollie's shorts were down his knees, and he was leaned over the bed. His white briefs were still on.

Jackson exhaled, "Man, this is the last thing I want to do."

Ollie turned, "I know. You can just strap this mattress here and I'll holler like your skinnin' me."

"I'm giving you extra for that," Jackson teased. In truth, he couldn't blame Ollie for trying.

Jackson let the soap soften another few seconds in the cup and then pulled it out.

"Pop this bar in your mouth and drop them briefs like I told ya. I ain't touching your underwear," Jackson reported.

Ollie grunted, but obeyed. He was glad it was a new bar and not the one they used in the shower. But it tasted like shit and Jack wasn't likely to hold back much. Not when it came to Hayley.

Jackson unbuckled his belt and pulled it out slowly. He knew Mary was not up for whooping Ollie, but he missed the days when he didn't have to worry about the whole pack. Jackson pulled up Ollie's white t-shirt and held it there with his left hand.

Jack folded his brown belt and stepped back to swing. He tapped Ollie's rear once and snapped it down.

Crack!

A light pink mark formed on the fullest part of Ollie rear.

Snap!

Ollie grunted, but couldn't talk due to the soap. Being bent over his bed clutching his pillow with his bare butt out gave him a different perspective. Maybe he should have just shut up. Hayley had always been nice to him, Ollie thought. He was ashamed at trying to screw with her.

"You spit out that bar and you are getting double. You are a member of this pack and will behave with honor," Jackson lectured. "That goes for me, for Gram, for Hayley, you, and everyone else."

Thwap!

Ollie squealed a little as the belt caught him across his sensitive crease.

Whack!

Whack!

Whack!

Jackson laid down three hard licks right under that in the same spot. Ollie almost pushed himself up, but braced himself. Jack saw the redness form and then gave him another series of licks before it healed.

Whack! Whap. Whap. Whack!

"Ohhhhhh," Ollie groaned. "Ahhhhh."

Snap! Snap! Snap!

Jackson moved back up to Ollie's backside and gave him a few more licks.

Thwap!

Thwap!

Thwap!

Thwap!

"You learning something here, bro?" Jackson asked, knowing Ollie couldn't really speak.

Crack! Crack!

Ollie grunted something and Jackson took that as an affirmative answer.

"Good. We're almost done here," Jackson promised.

Whack!

Whack!

Whack!

Jackson wrapped up with spreading the last three licks out to make sure Oliver's behind was evenly red.

Jackson dropped his belt and patted Ollie's back.

"Spit out that soap," Jackson said. Ollie tossed the sudsy bar on the washcloth.

"Ugh, I ain't going get that taste out all night. And you lit me up," Ollie complained, as he pulled up his briefs and shorts.

Jackson looked away as Ollie wiped a few stray tears away.

"Look, Oliver,-" Jackson started. He was interrupted by Ollie throwing his arms around him.

"Sorry, man. I ain't going to say sh-crap like that again. Okay?" Ollie promised. Jackson returned the embrace and patted his friend on back.

"I know. Just make it right with the ladies, okay? Why don't you rinse our your mouth? I'll go check on supper and let them know you're alive," Jackson joked. "You know, Hayley is my girl, but you are always my best friend. Don't make me wallop you again."

"Oh, I had plenty worse," Ollie said, giving his rump a light rub.

"Yeah, I ain't disagreeing. I had plenty worse with ya. And like I said to Hayley, if I act up. Y'all can get me back. No one is outta the woods, except I suppose, elders like Grandma," Jackson surmised.

Ollie grinned and gingerly walked to the bathroom to brush. They had supper and Ollie apologize to Hayley and kissed Mary on the cheek. He didn't say anything later that night, but Jackson slipped out of the bedroom and went to sleep with Hayley. Ollie wondered if he had any chance at all with Jean Ann. He'd ask her brother about it tomorrow.
