sorry guys, just too many things happening i couldn't get to this, including wirters block and not having an end until recently, depression, and a family death. but thanks to lockdown i sorta got the MOJO back for this!
if you've enjoyed this and have been waiting for it to continue, I'm sorry for the extremely long wait!
Videl tossed in her bed softly as she slowly opened her eyes. It took her a few moments, but she quickly realized that she was in her room, staring at her ceiling.
'Wait, how did I get home?'
Sitting up, Videl tried to think back to last night. but the last thing she remembered was being at her mothers headstone with Gohana. She didn't even remember falling asleep, but obviously she must have at some point.
It didn't matter too much in the end though, as she glanced at the clock. She actually woke up a bit earlier than normal. Flipping the switch so the alarm didn't go off, Videl decided to get ready for school. The sooner she finished, the sooner she could get some extra practice with her ki before school.
Maybe today she could ask Gohana when they would actually learn to fly. She had been able to summon a ki ball very quickly now. It wasn't as instant or as effortless looking as when Gohana did it. She still visibly had to put some effort into it. But she could easily form a ball within two seconds now, whereas at first it would sometimes take upwards of ten to fifteen minutes. and she was even able to feel it. Not just from her, she found she could feel Sharpner doing so during class as well. She wasn't sure how far away she could feel it, or what was possible though. Maybe this was something else Gohana could expand in teaching her and use during her crime fighting. Gohana said everyone has it, so maybe being able to read it would help her.
Getting out of the shower with a towel wrapped around her, Videl walked over to her bed where she had her stuff layed out. She was still deep in thought as she dressed. Last but not least, her watches. more specifically, her wrist communicator with the police in one, her capsule watch with her weighted clothes on the other. It felt too weird having them both on the same arm, but it still felt a bit weird having two on reguardless. Maybe she should ask Gohana if she could combine the both of them together for her so she only needed the one.
Pressing the button to activate the weighted cloths, Videl instantly felt the extra weight added to her. Though at this point it didn't really bother her much at all. More like she just barely noticed it. She had even been able to wear it from waking up all the way to going to bed. Progress is progress, right?
Before shes could even continue her thought process, her wrist beeped. It hadn't done so in a decent while that it almost startled her. But not quiet.
"Yes, what is it?"
"Videl we need your help at the Main City bank. Will explain when you get here!"
"Got it, I'll be there as fast as I can!"
The crowd around the building was packed, as sirens blared all around. Officers tried their best to keep the crowd out of harms way by preventing them getting too close. Even news reporters were already on the scene. But even the occasional gun shot didn't disband the crowd.
"Do you think they will get here before someone gets hurt?"
"I don't know about Gohana. But I'm willing to bet Videl is already on the way." Sharpner responded, looking down at Erasa
"I hope you're right. Still it has been a while since something this big happened." Erasa grabbed Sharpners hand. "Hey, maybe one day you can join Videl and Gohana!" Erasa teased, causing Sharpner to awkwardly chuckle and shrug it off.
The crowd quickly got more vocal as a ship quickly flew over them and landed at the police blockade. Of course everyone recognized Videls ship with no problem. Hopping out she ran to the police chief.
"What's the situation?"
"We've already sent in a few squads to try and get out the few hostages they have. But unfortunately they become hoatages as well. Turns out they are grappling them to the ground and injuring them. They are not using guns, except for those that are gu outside. My men aren't trained for that."
"So thats where I come in."
"Not just that, they are demanding that anyone can try stopping them. It's just worrying that they are so adamant about it. We're not sure what to expect."
"How many hostages, and have they made any demands?"
"Hostage count unconfirmed. Luckily the bank was still in the process of getting ready to open so most likely just the staff. As for demands, they want an armored truck so they can take all the gold in the vault. They said they will kill a hostage every hour it isn't meet."
"What? How long has it been?" Videl looked worried now.
"Relax, the moment they made that demand i called you. I didn't even hesitate, so you were probably on your way before he even finished the demands. Been only about five minutes since the demand."
This calmed Vdiel down a little bit as she sighed a breath of temporary relief. But she still had to get in there, and fast.
"Do we have a back entrance?"
"Yes, but once inside they are most likely guarding it. That's how my squads went in. I'll take you to it."
Videl followed close behind him as to not get seperated in the sea of people. Though even if they did, he was a rather large man compared to the other officers. Videl was surprised they stoped at a manhole, with 2 armed officers.
"This is a secret escape route from inside. Not very public knowledge. You should be free getting in, but once you're in...Good luck."
"Don't worry Cheif, I got this!" Videl gave him a thumbs up before quickly making her way down.
Luckily for Videl, it was a pretty straight shot into the bank so she still didn't rush to quickly to find the way there. They knew about the enterance though, and that means she probably wouldn't get the drop on them as a result. Would she still try to get the element of surprise? Or just go in gun ho and try taking them out? And how many were there?
Videl could hear voices just around the corner. Staying out of sight, she noticed it was most likely the door to get in, or usually out. Listening for a few moments, she could hear and make out distinct voices. But was everyone talking, or were there more not talking?
'Well at least i know there is at least four.'
Quickly dashing to the door, she figured she would try quickly taking out at least one in surprise. She could hear them talking, and sounded like they were moving around. There was one just near the door, but Videl got ready to pounce once he got a bit closer. Taking one out in surprise would easily help turn the tables.
"Come off it. You really think the boss gives a shit about us? All he cares about it this score. He doesn't give a rats ass what happens to us."
"Yeah, but at least we know he's good for getting us our cut, knows he pays well he can pull off bigger stuff! Thats all i care about."
'Just a little closer'
"So is he serious about offing hostages?" one of them asked.
"You are obviously new. Didn't you know? The last gig he used some C4, none of them left the place. at least not in one piece."
Crouching down, Videl quickly bolted around the door. Grabbing the closest guy by the top of his jacket, Videl spun around and used her momentum to slam the guy into the wall. Though it was far stronger than she had meant to as the guy went face first as he fell to the ground, unconscious.
The others cursed in surprise, and Videl found she was right, there were more that didn't talk. She had been able to quickly dispatch one of them, but there were five more remaining.
"Hey, it's that Satan chick. Huh, pretty cute too! To bad for you though." the closest one quikcly lunged at Videl.
Videl quickly realized something from his stance and the way he lunged. He was a fighter! This would make it far harder, and she hoped the other four were not fighters as well.Otherwise this wpuld be a lot harder!
Quickly blocking and pushing aside his strike, Videl tried to take the opening and land a strike of her own. It only managed to make a glancing blow, as her fist slid off his torso. Without wasting time though, Videl continued her forward momentum and went after one of the other goons in front of her. Dodging another punch from this one, Videl grabbed his clothes and forcefully pulled him down hard, right into her knee.
A kick landed againt Videls side as she felt to the ground, but quickly got up with a recovery roll. She had two of them now trying to strike her. Luckily Videl was able to dodge or block them. Barely. Something was off though and she couldn't figure it out.
One of them got past her defenses and managed to land a powerful gut punch, though Videl was able to brace her core quickly. While it did hurt a bit, she was able to prevenet getting the wind knocked out of her. Taking advantage of the close proximity, Videl landed a blow of her own to his face, causing him to almost immediately fall to the floor, landing face down. He didnt get back up.
'Thats two down, but they were the slower ones. I have to be careful!'
The four remaining thugs quickly tried surrounding Videl. They didnt seem to care about their fallen comrades. They had to stop her.
"Damn shes quicker than she looks. A lot stronger too." One of them remarked, throwing Videl off a bit.
Two of them rushed her at once from opposite sides. Knowing what to do, Videl quickly tried getting the closer to the same side as the other, that way she only had to focus on one direction. But that still left the other two just outside her peripheral. Quickly glancing back and forth between them, ready to guard and retaliate. This time, the tlfour of them all rushed her at once. One of them pushed Videl forward towards the others. Using this to their advantage they kicked Videl as hard as they could. This threw her off a bit and she rolled a couple of feet away.
Quickly getting back up, Videl started throwing punches and kicks at them. While many did land, a few missed their mark. Videl couldn't understand what was going on though. she coukd easily keep up with them, but she couldn't move fast enough, almost like either her vision was faster due to the adrenaline or she could barely move.
Trying harder, Videl leaped up and used her momentum to flip over one of the taller ones shoulder, slamming her feet into his upper back and she somersaulted behind him. Landing on her feet, Videl quicklyealed back at him and landed a kick, sending him flying forward. it surprised all four of them how far he went.
"Oh fuck what the hell!? She's heavier than she looks!"
'Wait a minite, it cant be.'
Quickly rolling part of her glove up, Videl noticed she had forgotten to take off the training weights. Pressing the button, Videl instantly felt the difference with the weights now gone. Quickly ducking to avoid the roundhouse kick headed towards her face, Videl quickly threw her first up towards his face, followed by the power of her enitr body using her legs propelling herself upward.
Landing squarely against his jaw, he flipped over backwards and landed hard face down on the floor, as Videl ended up easily jumping seven feet into the air dispite not being the goal. This threw off not on the three remaining thugs, but Videl as well! That kick was barely a few inches from her face when she even noticed it, but she could still dodge it time!
The thugs also seemed to notice this fact as well, and were now a little bit more hesitant to attack her. They seemed very cautious now.
"What do we do? There's no way someone should have been able to dodge that like that!"
"Maybe...maybe it was just a trick, or a fluke! Yeah that's it, a fluke. No way someone can move that fast."
"Oh, is that right?"
The three of them nearly jumped out of their skin as they quickly turned around, but saw nothing. But they clearly heard someone, and there was no where to hid! Looking around, all they saw were the officered they knocked out and subdued earlier, and Videl.
"Stop playing games fucking bitch?' one of them turned and screamed at Videl, who just looked at them confused.
Charging at Videl, he threw his hand back ready to throw at punch at her when he suddenly stopped, nearly jumping in the air and started flailing around, as if trying to get something out of his hair
The other two were just looking wildly around them, looking terrified. As if they were trying to find something they couldn't see, but they sure as hell could hear it. Videl couldn't clearly hear it, but it was there as she watched them wildly swing at nothing.
"What's going on?" Videl just watched, completely confused as to what was going on in front of her. They looked as if they were trying to fight the air.
"Stop it, stop it stop it! These fucking tricks are not cool!"
Charging once more at Videl, Videl readied herself again having snaped out of her confusion, for the moment.
What happened suddenly caused him to trip and fall as he looked up terrified of...a ghost, pulling one of its lower eyelides down and tongue out. This even threw Videl off. They both could see each other through the ghost. He quickly tried backing away, as he soon got up and started running in the opposite direction, screaming the bank being haunted. Videl looked onward in complete shock as she could suddenly feel a light breeze and a very audible "boo" coming from near the other two, causing them to quickly run in fear.
Videl still just stood there in her fighting stance, but looking completely confused what had just occured. Looking around she didnt see anything, or anyone. Was it really a ghost? She started frantically looking around herself now.
"Well that sure was different."
Videl screamed at the top of her lungs at the sudden voice and turned to see what it was.
"G..g..Gohana?"
"Yeah, its me." she said just rubb her neck as she smiled and chuckled a bit.
"But...you...how...what..." Videl was trying to find the right words, or just any words. She wasn't sure what she just witnessed. Was Gohana now a ventriloquist as well? She was half alien, so it wouldn't be too outlandish to think something normal as that.
"Sorry if i scared you." Gohana appologized.
"W..what? me, scared, as if." Videl tried brushing it off, blushing as she turned away Gohana.
"Shit, the rest of the guys holding up the bank!" Videl suddenly snapped out of it and started bolting down the hall but barely got a few steps.
"I already took care if them, your good." Gohana said.
"Oh. Wait, how did you get in?" She asked looking at Gohana, now noticing her baggy jeans and a lossely fitting hoodie.
"How else, the front door. I could tell you were at the back of the bank, but couldn't figure out why you left the bad guys at the front. So I took care of them." Gohana answered with a slightly confused tone.
Videl just looked at Gohana, not really sure what to say. Though Videl quickly got her witts about her and went over to check on the guards. There was almost a dozen, quickly she checked for a pulse of the first one she reached. She held her breath knowing she had at least one alive, but she had to check the rest.
"They're all alive, just knocked out." Gohana said walking towards her. "but you need to call in an ambulance. Some of them have some pretty serious injuries from the looks of it."
"You can tell that? Sensing their ki i take it?" Videl asked curiously
Gohana just nodded as Videl used her wrist communicator to call in assistance for the downed officers. But when she looked up Gohana was already gone. Videl pushed this to the back of her mind for now though. Sbe had to make sure everyone was safe.
Gohana waited with Erasa and Sharpner nearby as Videl was talking with the police chief. A lot of the crowd had dispersed by now, but there were still plenty of people around. None of them talked much as Sharpner was busy trying to finish up some last minute homework. Erasa was just checking her makeup a bit, as Gohana helped Sharpner as he needed it.
"Looks like you saved the day again, huh Videl." Erasa spoke up when she saw Videl approaching.
"Yeah, pretty much, but." Videl looked at Gohana. "Just what was that back there?"
"Huh, Gohana was there? I didnt see you. Granted I imagine you would have had your outfit and your Super...uhhh, your blond form."
Gohana just blushed a little bit and smiled awkwardly.
"Um, honestly I forgot my watch at home today."
"You...Wait that explains why you were just there like that." Videl motioned towards Gohanas jeans and hoodie. "But what exactly did you do back there. It's like you were there but invisible, And that weird...ghost image of you."
"Ghost image?" Erasa asked confused.
"Well the ghost likenimage, it's called an after image technique. And also just moved faster than they could see but kept whispering stuff to make them afriad. Sutble pokes and jabs as well. Odd but whenbI realized inforgot my watch, injust though 'hey what woukd Goten and Trunks do', and honestlybthsts what i came up with." Gohana answered as she hoped off the bench she had been sitting on.
Videl just acknowledge Gohana with a simple 'oh' as they gathered their things andnheaded towards school. They were all actually late but it was only a few blocks from school, they deckded to just walk it. At the start it was awkward silcence for everyone but Gohana. They all had questions they wanted an answer to.
"Hey, just to break the ice. About yesterday. Are you two..." Erasa started asking, unsure if she wanted to know if it was bad news.
"Oh, that. I unfortunately let me anger get the better of me. And Gohana was able to explain it in a way that made sense. Even though i don't like it." Videl sounded a little salty at that last part. True, she didn't like the fact Gohana had a cheat code, bit it wasn't her fault she was born with that gift. Still didn't change she had to train her butt off though.
"Wait, Gohana you actually found Videl? We've been trying to figure out where she goes for years. How did you find her?" Sharpner asked.
"Oh, her ki. I found her's and just went to her." Gohana asnwered, turning around tobwalk backwards.
"And honestly I think this weekend you both should come back to my place. Would be a safer place to start practicing flight. Maybe some small ki blasts for you Videl."
"Wait, safer in the woods? with all thw dinosaurs roaming around." Erasa asked confused.
"Nah, they all generally know to avoid me, heck even my mom! You'll be just fine."Gohana turned back around to continue walking forward.
"Besides, it would be safer from prying eyes on the flying. And safer from stray ki blasts as i teach you those." Gohana added.
This excited both Videl and Sharpner. They couldn't wait, and in fact they didn't even want to wait any longer. They both had a good grasp of ki manipulation and could form a ki ball. While the ki blasts didn't interest Sharpner nearly as much as it did Videl, he was interested in them none the less.
Videl stopped, catching Gohana's attention as she stopped and looked back at her.
"We should start today." she demanded.
"What, today? But bybthe time we get out of school it would take you guys almost the entire night just to get to my place and back."
"My jet is faster, remember? Only about three or four hours one way if ibtake itbat top speed."
"But we can't just skip class!"
"Look Gohana, I have to try hard to stay on top of these goons. And the sooner I cam learn these the safer I'll be. And you know it." Videl crossed her arms.
"Concider this to make up for our misunderstanding yesterday." Videl offered.
"Even though she's the one who should be sorry?" Erasa whispered to Sharpner, getting a good chuckle from him.
Gohana had to admit Videl did have a point in a way. Once she had control over her ki better and could use it, it really would allow her to be potentially far safer than ever. And today did show her that slmetimes Videl could be up against peolple that knew how to actually fight back. Not the usual thugs she fought with guns, but those who could actually fight.
Before Gohana even had time to finish thinking about it, Videl had already got her jet out of its Capsule. At this point Gohana couldn't think of a good argument against Videls and gave in.
"Why don't the three if you go without me. I'll head to class and at least grab the work you guys missed. And, I'll try my best to take notes."
"Why would we need notes when we have the walking data center right here?" Sharpner joked as he motioned towards Gohana before getting in Gohana just followed and got in behind him
"Son Gohana! Just what do you think you are doing home at this hour! You're supposed to be at school!" Chichi yelled at Gohana as she stepped out of the jet.
Gohana just clasped her hands together pleadingly as she appologized. Seeing Gohana acting like this, like a normal girl, knowing she was probably the strongest being in who knkws what, was kinda ammusing to them.
"Im sorry mom. But there was an incident this morning. If I wasn't there to save Videl she would have been in trouble!"
"Thats very commendable of you Gohana but that doesn't explain why you are back home!"
"Ah, sorry Miss. S...err, Chi Chi. but it is actually my fault. Gohana is teaching us to fly and stuff and i demanded we started today. I didn't really give her a choice." Videl tried stepping in to save Videl.
Chichi looked over at Videl then back to Gohana and sighed. In a way Videl sort of reminded her of herself. Videl was only the third person to ever be able to get her way when it came to Gohana, only besides herself and Bulma. She didn't even let Vegeta order her around, yet here Videl could. Chi Chi had to admit it was rsther interesting, and thought if it had to do with what lite shebdid knkw about Saiyans thanks to Vegeta.
"Fine, you're only looking after the safety of your friends." Chichi backed down a bit. "But you're helping with more chores around the house this weekend! You'll be doing Goten and Raina's!" Turning towards Videl and Sharpner. "Sorry you two, but I'll have some lunch ready for you both soon."
"Ah Miss. Son thats totally fine." Sharpner tried to politely decline, but Chichi wouldn't have it.
"I already have more than enough food for two growing children, a little less for them for you both wlnt hurt anyone. And please, Chichi will do."
"Ah, yes ma'am...uhh Chichi ma'am!" Sharpner bowed a bit as Chichi headed back to the house.
"You really know how to talk with the ladies, doncha Sharpy!" Videl teased him.
"Okay, so you both already have the grasp of ki manipulation, so flying is just controlling it more. So instead of pulling it out and making a ball, you just want to, sorta of put it underneath you and let it lift you up."
Videl and Sharpner both just stared dumbfounded at Gohana.
"Um what, is something wrong?" Gohana started getting a bit more nervous"
"No, it's just...I honeatly thought it would be more complex than that." Videl answered, Sharpner nodding having thought the same.
"Well the concept is easy. It can get tricky if trying to go really fast or using it in high speed fighting though."
Both Sharpner and Videl moved a bit awy from each other and stsrted focusing. Videl had to admit this did feel a bit different than what she had been practicing. She could feel her ki under her feet no problem, but getting it to pull her up was a bit more difficult than it sounded. But she knew she could do it, until a loud boom accured next to her and she shrieked in shock.
Sharpner flew a dozen feet into , flailing in a complete panic as to what just happened.
"Gotcha!" Gohana caught him and slowly brought him back down.
Videl looked where Sharpner was standing and noticed that lart kf the ground was missing, as it a mini bomb went off.
"What was that?" Videl asked.
"Well, Sharpner you need to focus on having it more underneath and holding you. You were trying to blast your ki towards the ground."
"Well, I guess i was. I figured Gravity pushes us down, so push my ki out and down."
"Well to be honest thats kindabwhat we do for our ki attacks, but flying is different. We're not projecting out ki outward. We're using it to lift ourselves. Think of it kind of like a bubble, and your ki is lifting it like a ballon."
Sharpner listened to every word, as did Videl. He had to admit that visually, her analogy sounded pretty solid. Still whatever he had just done shocked him to his core. Its not every day an explosion goes off underneath you from your own body.
Finding a new spot to stand, Sharpner and Videl both went back to focusing their ki. Gohana payed careful attention to each of them and their ki. She didn't mind how long it took them. e was no extreme rush. She noticed that they were slowly on the verge of getting some lift, but it was taking a lot of focus from both of them. To their credit though, she could see the grass around them and thie cloths and hair reacting gently from howb sloppy they were at it. but that was expected at this point.
Sharpner was the first to stop, and he took a few deep breaths.
"Man, this doesn't seem like it would tire you out bit it does! Feels kinda like a really light workout."
"Actually you're not wrong." Gohana pointed out and Videl stopped hersf to listen."
"Even when someone cant use ki consciously. they are still using it. When training, it flows stronger, and its strength goes up. And the more ki you use in a fight the more tired you get.Though it does come back decently fast."
"So is that how you were able to find me last night from my ki?"
"Yeah, your's is a lot stronger than an average person. Id say just from practicing using it you've technicaly tripled your strength."
"What? But I cant suddenly lift three times as much! How does that work exactly? You mentiomed powering up makes you stronger?"
"Its all about raising your power level. You can raise it and lower it. But with raising it ypu cant infinitely raise it. It g as you get stronger, and you can use you ki to raise your strength."
"So how strong are you then? if you lower your ki to our level dobyou siddenly only become as strong as us?" Sharpner asked.
"No nothing like that...Hmm well." Gohana thought for a moment on how tobexplain it.
"Think of it like an amplifier! And also makes you a bit more durable. Like when any robbers or anything are shooting at me. If my ki isnt up it will still get crushed as it hits me, but I will feel it. But with my ki up i really dont feel it much. Kinda just like a fly i guess."
Gohana continued for a little bit explaining the ins and outs of ki manipulation and certian things that were possible. Even as she explain a few things, and demonstrated a few, they found they could subtly feel it as well. They would need more practice of course, but both were very rapidly picking up sensing power. However the one technique they both had heard about growing up, but never thought it was true, and now understood.
"Hey with all these techniques...well there is this one legend of an ability Master Roshi developed."
"Huh, you guys know about the kamehameha wave?" Gohana asked a bit surprised they knew about it.
"Yeah! It's a martial arts legend! Well more recent legend. But it's real?" Sharpner asked now full of excitement!
"Yeah, of course it is. It's what i used to finish off Cell. Granted he tried finishing me and the planet off with one."
"Show us!" both Videl and Sharpner asked almost in unison, like kids in a candy store now.
"Oh, well I dont see why not." slightly blushing but turning around.
Videl and Sharpner both just watched, waiting to even see what happens. They had ony ever heard of it in writting, there wasn't even an artistic representation. They both watched, not realizing they were holding their breaths.
"Ka"
They watched as Gohana cupped her hands slightly together.
"Me"
Pulling her right leg back Gohana twisted her body back a bit.
"ha."
A bright blue ki ball appeared between Gohana's hands and it made a weird reving sound.
"meee." The sound got a bit louder
'This is it!' Videl and Sharpner were litealy leaning in closer
"Haaa!"
Gohana screamed as she thrust her hands up towards the sky, an explosvie sound as the Kamehameha wave blasted upwards. Videl and Sharpner could feel not only the wind casued by the blast, but they could both somehow just feel the power coming from it.
Not needing it to drag on, Goahana stoped and simply let put a simle sigh. turning around with a slight blush, she didn't mind showing it, bit unless training or fighting, it felt weird just demonstrating it.
"Well, there you go."
"That was so awesome!" Videl shouted jumping onto her feet.
"Yeah, holy shit seeing that in person! How did you learn that!"
Gohana had a nervous yet goofy smile, "Um, well... Piccolo fired a beam that would kill me of i didnt do it properly." she asnwered as nonchalantly as she could.
Gohana could tell their shock in their faces. Butbshe just tried to wave it off. She explained before why she even started training at four, so it she didn't think it would shock thembas much as it did.
The lesson resumed shortly as Gohana tried to change the subject back to them quickly. They were both more excited and eager to learn more and with gusto they both continued trying to at least float. After several more minutes of extreme focusing, Videl was slowly raising off the ground. This caught Sharpners attention and he watched with amazement.
"Good, now just try holding that position! Dont try forcing more ki into it either!" Gohana instructed her, carefully monitorong her ki.
"Good, just maintain that feeling and remember what it's like."
Videl focused hard, but had to admit she could feel herself slipping a bit. She slowly lowered herself back to the ground and was surprised she needed to take a few deep breaths. This was harder than it looks.
"Way to go Videl! you managed to float in just one flying lesson." Gohana was excited for her.
"Thanks. Um how long did it take you?" Videl asked curiously, which got another weird smile from Gohana.
"After three days Mr Piccolo lost patience and threw her off a cliff." Raina finally spoke up having arrived when Videl was floating but not wanting to disturb her.
They both just looked shocked at Gohana again, but neither decided to question it.
"Mom said lunch is ready, and you can have Gotens. He and Trunks are having a playdate! Uncle Vegeta is taking them to the amusement park."
Gohana just looked at Raina, sure that she heard her wrong or she had misspoken. But Raina just smiled back before running over, and grabbing Videls hand.
"Come on, I'll race you!" She said excited as Videl as she just went with it and started sprinting ahead of Raina. Gohana and Sharpner were quick behind them.
Once again, Videl and Sharpner were surprised with not only the amount of food in front of them, but how good it tasted.
"So Videl, Sharpner, how is the flight training going?"
"Well I managed to get a little bit off the ground just before Raina here came and got us for lunch." Videl asnwered.
"Yeah, and big sister Videl beat me at a race getting back home." Raina said between bites, getting a smile from Videl.
Sharpner looked a little sheepish and tried avoiding the answer, bitbhe saw botj Chichi and Raina waiting for an answer.
"I sorta blasted the ground below me."
"Well, as long as its safe, do what Gohana tells you."
Both Videl and Sharpner were unsure if she was referencing Gohana's hyper violent and harsh training, or juat worried about their safety being potentially high in the sky and shooting ki blasts all over the place. But neither of them were even sure if Chichi knew how Gohana's initial training went, so neither decided to bring it up.
"Chi chi, everything I've ever had from you tastes so good. How did you learn to cook so well?" Videl asked her, both curious and to break the awkward silince.
"Well from a young age I always knew the man i would marry would need a good meal, so I learned to cook from a very young age. And it helped my father's cooking wasn't so great. So I had to either learn or have the food he tried making."
"If it's not too much trouble, maybe one day i can learn a few things from you?" Videl asked.
"Oh! I didn't know you would be interested in cooking! I'd be happy to! I feel every woman should be able to cook for her family!" Chichi beamed proudly.
Videl and Sharpner bothed looked at each other, then at Gohana, having tried some of the stuff Gohana made.
"So, um...if i may ask...what happened?" Sharpner asked pointing to Gohana who had a mouth full of salmon.
"Aaaah, it's not for a lack of trying." Chichi looked over to Gohana.
"Hey I can cook some things!" Gohana tried to defend herself knowing she always sucked at cooking most things. She could absolutely cook better than her dad, but that wasn't much of a bar to clear, even she had to admit.
"Hey, if you dont find a man, I'll cook for ya Gohana so don't worry." Videl teased Gohana causing her to blush a little bit.
The rest of lunch went about rather uneventfully, as Chichi tried to explain certian aspects of cooking to Videl, and Sharpner was asking a bit more about ki manipulation.
After everyone had finished, they wanted to get back to the practice. Sharpner still had a little ways to go before he wpuld eventually keave the ground as he kept wanting to push hi ki ooutward instead. It took a lot of focus on his part to not blast the ground beneath him. But Gohana pointed out he seemed to be a natural ad ki blasts.
Videl was quickly able to obtain lift off again. She couldn't get much higher than earlier, but she wasn't trying for that either. She was also able to maintain the height a lot better as well, focusing instead on keeping it.
Noticing Videl was having an easier time getting airborn than Sharpner, Gohana told her to keep practicing just maintaining it and achieving it quicker as she focused on helping Sharpner more. She could tell he was still struggling getting the difference between blasting ki from the bottom of his feet and getting his ki under his feet to raise him up. Though luckily he didn't blast the ground again like earlier
"So am i missing something?" Sharpner asked for some input.
Thinking for a second, Gohana went over all the tips and advice that she had told them. It helped this wasn't the first time she had taught someone to fly. She already taught Raina and Goten a few years ago, and Lime a few years before that.
"The only thing I can think of at the moment is you're not letting you ki hold you up, but rather your just keeping it in place. Remember, you use your ki to pull yourself up." Gohana thought for a few moments to try to have him experience it himself.
"Wait, i got it!" Looking around, Gohana looked at what she had for options to work with.
"Okay, you see that small rock next to the tree?" Gohana asked pointing.
Looking towards where Gohana was pointing, Sharpner nodded as he saw what shebwas talking about.
"Make your ki ball and blast it at the rock."
Sharpner was a little confused and struged to even start a rebuttal. But he trusted her and held his hands out in front of him. He had seen her blast ki bls from her hands before and assumed this is how it was done. Pushing his ki into his palm, he felt and saw a ki ball forming.
"Good now push more energy into it and then blast it forward."
Focusing, Sharpner tried pouring all the energy he could into it. He felt the pressure building in the Ki ball as it softly hummed. With a sudden crack in the air, he shot the ki ball and squarly hit the tree next to the rock, causing it to shatter at the impact spot. It didn't go very deep but cracks had formed above and below. The suddenness of the sound had jolted Videl and she fell on her butt from a few feet above the ground. Lookig over, she saw the tree and wondered what had happened.
"Oh shit, did i really do that?" Sharpner asked in shock.
"Yup, Ki blasts can generally cause more damage, especially smaller ones like that on you just did. Plus your ki blast was really focused, smaller area of impact." Gohana pointed out.
"Okay, but how does that help me learn to fly?" he asked.
"Did you remember how it felt? Pushing your ki and blasting it?" Gohana asked, getting a nod from Sharpner. "Flying isnt about pushing it out like that. It holds you up instead. So dont think of pushing your energy under you like that."
Thinking about it for a bit, Sharpner did realize he had been doing something like that. It was really obvious to him now that he had experienced shooting a ki blast.
"Hey, do you think I could learn that? I think I have the hang of floating." Videl asked having noticed Sharpner and figured out what must have just happened.
"Actually, yeah I think you would benefit the most with all the crime fighting honestly." Gohana pointed out. "Sharpner, I'm going to focus pretty much on Videl rest of today. She's gotta learn this to actually fight off allbthose crooks. shebtried to justify.
"Hey, don't worry about me! I'm doing this mainly for fun. She's the one in life and death situations." he gave her a thumbs up and a smile.
"Okay Videl, I actually have several thing to show you. Will start with basic ki blasts, and then reving your ki up."
"Okay, but what's that second one?" Videl asked confused at her wording.
"Its raising your ki, and usually will manifest as that fire around me i guess you could call it."
"Oh, that golden glow. Wait that actually has a function? I thought you did that just to scare people."
"Well, that isn't what it is for. But it does scare criminals. Just imagine once you can do it, they are already scared ofbyou to begin with. Add all this stuff and it will only make it more so."
Videl couldn't help but laugh a little bit at that. she hadn't thought of it like that but it did make sense.
"Alright, ki blast lesson one." raising her hand out to her skde, Gohana made her on ki ball in her outstretched palm.
"Push the energy into your palm, and when you're ready just blast it forward." Gohana released her ki blast out past the horizon to demonstrate. She even made sure it hard hardly anybreal power behind it just in case.
"Okay, does it have to be from my palms though? Or can i do it other ways?" Videl asked.
"Honestly you can do it however. Piccolo once told me my dad fired a Kamehameha from his feet back before he mastered flight. So you can honestly do whatever you're able to do." Gohana held up her hand with her fingers spread and made tiny ki balls at the end of all five to demonstrate even more.
Videl understood more now thanks to this. She wasn't sure which way to use her hands to fire a ki blast, but she figured once she had it to begin with she could practice others as well. then it hit her, it was so obvious.
Raising her right fist out in front of her, Videl extended her thumb an pointer finger as she used her left hand to stablize her hand. She was so used to making ki balls with both hands, not just one, and didn't want to change that just yet. Gohana found her choice rather interesting, but watched what she was doing. Videl pushed her ki out through her finger and could feel her ki rushing there. Focusing on pushing as much into it as she could, she quickly saw her oi blast form at her finger. Focusing even more, Videl pushed even harder to pour more ki into her finertip.
Soon, unable to hold it anymore, Videl thought about it blasting forward. The force of her ki blast shootig forward surprised her so much that Videl actually fell backwards as her ki blast hit a rock, hard, nearly shattering it.
"Holy shit! Did I really just do that?!" Videl asked wided eyed, not realizing she had that much power.
"Hahaha, yeah that was all you." Gohana said as she offered her hand to Videl.
Taking her hand, Videl stood up and instantly felt a lttle wobbly, falling forward onto Gohana. Noticing this, Gohana was quickly and easily able to catch her. But for some reason she felt a little embarrassed once she did.
"Take it easy a bit. If you use all your ki its no different than tiring yourself out." Gohana said, face slightly flushed.
"I didn't know. Wow you must have a ton of slare ki than huh?" Videl said slightly panting suddenly realizing she did in fact feel pretty tired.
"Well, against those criminals i barely have to even use any. It's more effort to not use so much to not cause too much damage honestly. But its pretty second nature."
"Yeah, I'd imagine so. Um question. Like how devastating can ki blasts be?" Videl asked.
"As in to another person?" Gohana asked to clarrify her question.
"Like, I just destroyed that rock on my first attempt. I could never punch a rock and do that. Well maybe not up until this point. But like how much damage could you theoretically do?"
"Oh, um well it's hard to say. Usually if Vegeta or I are really going all at it we usually use a few locations that can contain it. Usually the gravity chambers we have." Gohana thought for a moment and then realized something. Videl was asking from her point of view having just learned this, while to herself it was second nature and has always been a part of her life.
"Well let's put it this way. Lime is probably the third weakest out of all of us who are training in case the world needs to be protected. And evenball three of them have more then enough power to easily destroy the Earth. With a ton to spare actually."
Videl's face changed suddenly. She really had no clue it was that powerful, that destructive! But obviously the Earth is still here. This wasn't something tonbe used willy-nilly, not even the strongest weapons the military had could even come close to that.
"How do you not accidentally do so during training or sparring?"
"Well even if we have more than enough strength to do so, its still not the easiest thing to do. So unless someone is trying to do so its unlikely that it will happen." Gohana explained, and noticed this made Videl a little more calm.
"Okay, so do you have the idea for ki blasts?" Gohana asked?
"Yeah, lets move onto that other one!" Videl smiled eagerly.
