Videl woke up far earlier than her alarm was set. In fact she only slept a few hours and had been just laying in bed for hours at this point. It didn't help she technically had been asleep not that long ago in the time chamber. But she barely even slept those last eight hours for them. She was too worried.
Now that she knew she didn't have to focus as much on training, and enduring the chamber, her mind started playing catch up.
Gohana, of all people. Videl had never really though of anyone else like this before, so she wasn't too sure what to think. crushes, sure, but not like this. But she couldn't get out of her mind, Gohana would be the perfect boyfriend. If she was a boy that is. But why not her girlfriend? Even when she first started thinking about stuff like that up until now, she always had certain aspects she did think she liked in someone. Though the more she thought about it, she usually answered and thought about what she looked for in someone, not specifically in a boy. Maybe Gohana was just literally the first person to really be everything she looked for. Even Gohana being a girl didn't bother her as much. At least not like she would have thought. It did make it seem a bit more embarrassed, falling for anyone would make her feel embarrassed so it didn't really matter all that much in the end.
Sitting up, Videl looked over to her alarm clock. it wasn't even three in the morning yet and she was still wide awake. with a sigh, Videl officially gave up in even trying to sleep right now. Besides, she was a bit hungry and wanted to get a light snack.
Walking downstairs, Videl headed to the kitchen. A few of the staff had stopped her and asked if they could get her anything, but she said it was alright. She wanted to get something herself. Not to mention, she wanted to readjust to her new strength level. She had accidentally broke several things already since getting home last night in just the few hours before heading to bed. Trying to make a snack might be a good idea, she didn't really have to worry about breaking anything.
Opening the door, she was surprised to see her dad sitting at the table. He must have been deep in thought because he didn't notice her coming in. She just walked over to him to see what he was looking at.
"Hi dad, couldn't sleep?" Videl said when she got close.
Hercule nearly jumped, having been so mentally preoccupied with what he was doing.
"Oh, hey sweetpea. You're up rather early."
"Yeah, I'm not really tired. got a few hours in though, but figured to get a light snack. What about you? Have you been up all night?" she asked.
"Oh, yeah. I got some paperwork been trying to finish but need to figure out a few things before I can finish it. I just need to get it in today so I need to get this finished up." Hercule said and looked back down.
"Well, I'm going to make a little snack. Could I make you something?" Videl offered.
"Oh, that's really sweet. But how about I make us some hot coco instead?"
Videl smiled and nodded a little bit. It wasn't often he could cook for them. But she really loved when he took the time. Sitting down, Videl looked over at the paperwork as Hercule got up. She instantly could tell that it had to do with developing a new dojo. But why would this be keeping him up all night?
Videl almost didn't notice the cup of hot coco that was placed right next to her several minutes later, but when she did she almost instantly panicked. It was her favorite mug, the mug her mother made for her when she was little. Hercule sat down next to her and sipped his and let out a happy sigh. He then noticed how apprehensive Videl seemed to pick up the cup. Earlier when she got home, after spending so much time in the chamber, she kept breaking things and was now terrified of breaking her cup!
"Is something wrong sweety?" he asked.
"What? Oh no, I'm okay. Just," she thought quickly, "Really sore from some training I did. Yeah!" Videl lied.
Instead of gripping it, Videl scooted it towards the edge, holding the bottom with one palm and gently keeping it steady with her other hand and took a sip. The moment she could taste is, and feel the warmth, Videl felt happy. Softly setting the cup back down, having and idea how to at least hold cups for the moment, she turned back to what was on the table.
"So what is this?"
"Oh, well I'm opening up a new dojo. But I want this one to be pretty much free. It could be a really good outlet for kids and teenagers. Not to mention it could help them get rid of some pent up aggression." Hercule answered.
"So, the people on the papers?" Videl asked.
"I'm trying to figure out who to ask to help run it. Obviously I would have to pay them, but I know there are plenty who would run the dojo just cuz of name. But I don't want to take advantage of anyone. So I'm narrowing it down from people that already make a decent living outside of them teaching so it doesn't interfere with their livelihood so we can make it easy for anyone to join. Hoping that what little fees they have go directly to the teachers. The city already are funding the building and maintenance and all of that stuff. I just can't pick which two."
"Wow, that's actually a pretty good idea! I know plenty of people at school that mention they would at least give it a chance. But most Dojo's they say are a bit too pricey for them." Videl looked over at the four people. "Would it be too much to just have all four of them then?"
"What, you mean hire all four for not much pay?" Hercule seemed a bit offput splitting appart what little the dojo would be making between two people, let alone four.
"Well, you said yourself they would still be able to make money outside teaching cuz they already do so anyway. So what's the harm in getting all four of them?"
Hercule thought about it for a moment. It was true the four of them did express they would happily do it for free to not only keep working on their own passion of teaching others, but working for Mr. Satan of all people would be a dream come true. He had actually meet all of them already, and he thought they would all be perfect. Maybe he could see about getting all four of them on board! Why hadn't he thought of that!
"You're a genious, did you know that sweetpea?" Hercule praised her, causing Videl to smile happily.
"Thanks dad. Maybe now you could maybe get a few hours of sleep before you have your morning training then?"
"Yeah, now that you helped me figure that out I guess i could use a little sleep." Hercule stretched his arms up and yawned.
"Before I go though, what about you?" He asked her.
"Huh? What about me?"
"You usually only are up this early if something is on your mind. Is everything alright?" Hercule asked in a worried tone, and this was very rare her being up at this hour. Unless of course her friends were over for a sleepover."Whats on your mind?" Hercule asked, having been picking up something was bothering her.
"It's nothing dad. Just stuff on my mind is all." Videl tried to wave off her dad's prying.
"Well, obviously something is on your mind sweety. What is it.?"
Videl immediately thought of Gohana and it caused her to blush a bit and try looking the other way, hoping that her dad didn't pick up on that. Unfortunately for her, he had.
"Wait, its a boy isn't it! You know the rule Videl! You can't date anyone that-"
"That isnt stronger than you! I know, could you please drop it though!" Videl blushed hard.
"No, I won't have my little girl dating anyone not tough enough to match up! I won't have someone who can't protect you!" Hercule started getting more and more loud as his protective instincts kicked in.
"Dad please, just drop it! Nothing is going to come out of it anyway!" Videl blurted out.
"Wait, nothing? Then why are you blushing if nothing?" Hercule seemed suspicious.
Videl couldn't believe she was having this conversation with her dad. Though technically speaking Gohana clearly out does her fathers stupid rule, even though as her being a girl and not in the realm of the rules. Though she did understand where he was coming from, she knew it would be one sided on her end if her feelings progressed. So why get her hopes up anyway.
"Because...they don't like me. At least not like that. But just as a friend." Videl said honestly.
Hercule was pretty thick headed, but he could pick up on what was going on, or so he liked to think. Placing his hand comfortingly on her hands.
"Videl, I'm sorry. You know why I'm so protective over you, I can't help it." he softly spoke.
"It's okay dad. I know why, and I don't blame you. But you know eventually you'll have to drop that act." Videl placed her free hand on his in return.
"Yeah, I know I know. But until I know you are in safe hands, you know I will always worry! And even then, I'll never stop worrying."
The both of them softly just smiled. It was rare they had pure bonding moments, what with someone usually always being around. But the few times Videl could see her dad as just a protective father, while a part of it did annoy her, it really meant a lot to her. He was just being himself! And now that she also knew the truth he was lying to the world, she knew in these moments there was no lying. And that suddenly made this seem all the more special for her.
"Thanks dad." Videl smiled and went back to her cup of hot coco and continues sipping it, it having cooled off enough to drink a bit quicker.
"Well, now that I have that figured out, I think I should be getting to sleep now." Hercule said and stretched once again as he yawned even louder. He was glad that he didn't have anything planned for tomorrow too early so he could get some sleep. He only had to meet with the Budokai coordinators in the later afternoon.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Are you still planning to enter the Budoaki?" he asked.
"Huh, isn't it in like two months? Why are you asking me now?" Videl asked confused.
"Well, I'm meeting with some of the benefactors and those organizing it. They just wanted to know if you planned on entering as well, seeing as registration officially begins tomorrow. Well I gueas at this point later today. Just wanted to know if I should tell them you were going to enter."
Videl thought for a moment. Should she? With everything she is learning now she would already have an unfair advantage anyway. Plus with how insanely strong she had gotten thanks to Gohana in such a drastically short time period, wouldn't it be even more unfair? Then again, she was training for it! She wasn't cheating. And she had seen clips of Gohana's dad and her friends from back in the day. So why would now be any differen
"Of course, I've been training really hard for it! Hell I'll even see if Sharpner, Lime and Gohana want to enter as well!"
"Sharpner and Lime, those two seem perfect for that type of stuff. But Gohana, isn't that your new friend? I didn't know she did martial arts to that level."
"Oh, yeah. Longer than me actually. She's even had the honor of training with some older masters from back in the day." Videl slightly bragged for her.
"Oh man, I'd love to see how she can do. You should ask her if she wants to come along! Though i doubt she could hold a candle to you sweety! Anyway, I'm about to crash now. So I think I will head out now."
Hercule gave Videl a big hug as Videl got up, returning the hug being incredibly careful to not crush her father. She watched as he just exited the kitchen, and she sat back down. Grabbing her hot coco, she continued to sip at it while deep in thought. She had honestly totally forgotten the Budokai was coming up. And to think that prior to meeting Gohana she was looking forward to it. My how time can change someones prospective. She was certain that Lime would probably join. She had mentioned possibly entering before Gohana came to their school. And she apparently already had been trained by Gohana for years at that point. So she would probably still enter. But what about Sharpner? Would he still want to enter? Learning stuff like she was. Though he seemed to be a bit more relaxed about it not actively needing it to be safe, but to better himself. He would still be at a major advantage over anyone else. Would Gohana even entertain the idea though?
Deciding to not think much about it anymore tonight, Videl put her mug carefully in the sink and washed it. She stayed deep in thought as she went back to her room, trying to decide what to do with the four hours she had before she had to go to school. Closing her door, Videl locked it. Deciding she didn't have much anything else to do, Videl went to the middle of her room. Sitting cross legged on the floor, Videl made a circle with her fingers in her lap and slowly started hovering in the air. She had seen Gohana meditate like this, plus just on the ground, while in the time chamber. And they did do a lot of meditation while in there. Some of it didn't make a lot of sense to her. Gohana did explain how she meditates, trying to contain her ki, but right now Videl didn't really know the difference. Still, she could use the extra practice flying. Or in this case hovering. She noticed just the more she practiced doing it at all, she was able to start hovering faster. When she first started, she would have to focus for a good few seconds, but if she was hyped on adrenaline like in the middle of training, or the incident earlier today, much faster. But thanks to her newer training with Gohana, she could start hovering almost instantly.
--
Videl sat in her hoverjet, annoyed at it. She just wanted to fly normally now. Well, technically speaking this was normal to normal folks. But now she could easily fly without it. And even in normal gravity! She had to try just floating and moving around a little bit in the higher gravity, so this would be literally nothing to her. Plus she just enjoyed the feeling of flying around, even though she couldn't fly very fast just yet. But for now, she would have to deal with it like this. At least until it came out that she could fly.
Landing on the roof, Videl carefully set down to avoid the two people there. Though she didn't at first notice who it was, she quickly recognized Lime and Erasa as Erasa was waving at her. Videl opened the hatch and hopped out before reducing the ship to a capsule, and pocketing it.
"Hey Videl. Um, why are you still using the jet?" Erasa asked. "I thought you could fly? Even Sharpner can sorta hover."
"Well, the public doesn't know, yet. So I'd rather keep it in the downlow for now." Videl answered her, before noticing Lime just staring her down.
It was making her a tad uncomfortable. She never saw Lime just staring, but not with ill intent.
"Um, Lime you're kinda freaking me out. Whats wrong?" Videl asked before it got much weirder.
"How did you improve so much overnight?" Lime asked a bit flabbergasted.
"Overnight?" Videl asked confused before it hit her.
"Oh, right. Gohana took me to this weird time room. We spent about two weeks in there so I would get a jump start."
"Wait, she looks the exact same as yesterday" Erasa said looking between Lime and Videl, not noticing anything different.
"Oh, well her ki for starters is stronger. Though im guessing you haven't learned to surpess it normally yet." Lime said to Videl more as a statement than a question.
"Surpress it? No not yet. I can power up a little bit in bursts, Gohana said i can double my full strength as what its normally at. Is that how you guys live normally?" Videl asked, knowing from her conversations with Gohana that they usually go about their days insanely heavily supressed.
"So is Videl like as strong as you now?" Erasa asked, still not having any context or guage for their strength.
"What? Are you serious? Shes been trained by Gohana for years! Didn't Gohana say you're pretty high in power?"
"Well, nothing like Gohana. But I am more than capable of fighting if another threat ever arrives. I hope at least."
"So, anyway, did you two come up here for something?" Videl asked.
"Honestly we were waiting for you. Well mostly me, I didn't want to be by myself. But Lime was keeping me safe."
Videl looked at Erasa a little confused. Why was she scared?
"Jake came back to school today." Lime answered her.
"What? Is he causing trouble?"
"Trouble, well no not really. But everyone is...something about him feels wrong. Its like he has this weird feeling to him." Erasa cowered lightly, wishing Sharpner wasn't out of town today.
"I think somehow he learned to use ki." Lime interjected, shocking both Erasa and more so Videl.
'Wait, Jake knows about ki? How?' Videls head started going off.
Even before, she had a hard time fighting him. But now he might have ki control like her? What would that mean, it drastically increased her abilities, but mostly focused on flight, sensing others, she still doesnt fully have a grasp on fighting with it like shes seen Gohana sparring with, well herself. She could use light ki blasts but not super fast.
"Has he said anything?" Videl finally asked.
"No, not yet. But I can sense some ill intent from him. Though it doesn't feel like any of us are in danger. But I wanted to warn you either way."
Videl just nodded. Knowing to expect him when they walked into class was a good thing. Still, she was glad Lime was there as well. From what Gohana said Lime could casually destroy the planet if she wanted, so she didnt feel to worried at the moment. She doubted Jake, if he really could use ki, could level even a building.
The three of them arrived at their class and noticed a group at the door, just talking amongst themselves. Lime casually just made her way through the group, Videl close behind holding Erasa's hand so she felt safer. Sure enough they got in and saw Jake sitting at his seat. It was clear he wasnt happy about it either. But what more surprised them was he looked completely fine. Didn't Gohana do a number on him?
Still, they made their way to their seats, passing Jake who just glarred at them. Even some student who sat near him moved their chair elsewhere, many places being a bit more crowded than usual. Particularly behind where they sat. Guess knowing both Videl and Gohana could take him on helped some of the students feel a bit safer.
"Hey, where's Gohana? Class starts soon and I dont think she's close by." Lime asked Videl.
This surprised Videl for sure. Gohana, late? And not close by? Trying to reach out a bit, maybe she was doing her Saiyako thing? No, she couldn't feel Gohana's ki. Not that she was super proficient, but with Goahana's ki when she was level 2, she could usually feel it pretty strongly in the time chamber. But even Lime couldn't feel her?
"I just hope she gets here soon." Erasa scooted closer to Lime and Videl.
"Actually, I have a feeling his intent is towards Gohana. May not be a pleasant day after all." Lime responded.
'Gohana, juat please get here soon!' Videl thought.
--
Gohana opened her eyes, her face still half burried in her soft blankets. She felt a nudge on her shoulder, as well as the voice that woke her up.
"Nee-chan you're up!"
Gohana sat up and stretched out, noticing Raina was the one to wake her up.
"Oh, hey Raina. Wow, you're back pretty early!" Gohana said rubbing the tiredness from her eyes.
"Huh, early? Actually its almost time for school. Mom said she‐"
Raina couldn't even finish her sentence before Gohana jolted out of bed. Raina just watched quietly as Gohana quickly changed into some simple jeans and a tank top.
Rushing downstairs, Gohana thought for sure her mom would be mad at her for sleeping in. To her surprise, her mom was finishing up putting food into her food box and capsulizing it.
"Good morning sweety." Chichi said and walked over to her, placing her food capsule in her daughters hands.
"Thanks mom, gotta go. Love you!" Gohana quickly transforming into Super Saiyan 2 so she could fly at full speed.
"Wait Gohana! " Chichi shouted just as Gohana got to the door.
Turning around, Gohana was a bit surprised her mom was purposely not shooing her out the door to not be late.
"About our talk last night. I just want you to know how happy I am for you."
Gohana gave her mom a confused look, but then blushed hard. She knew what she was talking abput.
"Not what I expected, but if you decide to persue it, I'll help in anyway I can."
"Mom!" Gohana pouted and blushed harder, causing Chichi to just laugh a little bit.
"Now hurry up. I know you didn't sleep well, but try not to be late if you can." Chichi then finally shooed her daughter out of the house, Gohana a tad confused why she wasnt upset but also didnt want to question it, and she quickly flew off.
She watched as Gohana's aura disappeared very quickly into the sky as she flew. She was sure Gohana would be fine no matter what she choose, so headed back into the house.
"Goten, Raina. Come on you two its time to do some of your school work. We have to go to the village to stock up on some food supplies afterwards."
"Oh boy, I cant wait to have some of their pastries!" Goten beamed, his favorite part of shopping day as getting freah pastries at the bakery in town they went to. He normally didnt like school work, even though it wasnt much, but he quickly went to the table to get started.
"Remember Goten, you and Raina are probably going to start at the school Trunks goes to real soon. So get used to it."
Looking around, she finally saw Raina come down the stairs looking at something.
"What do you have there sweety."
"Um, I think this is Nee chan's, right? Shouldn't she have it?" Raina handed the watch to her.
"Wait, isnt this-" Chichi quickly noticed what it was and clicked one of the buttons to be sure, Gohana's Saikayo outfit quickly materializing on Chichi. This didn't go unnoticed by Goten.
"Oh wow mom, that looks so cool! Are you going to team up with Gohana!"
"Oh Goten don't be so dramatic." Chichi hit the other button, returning her simple house dress and getting rid of the outfit.
"I think Gohana left it here."
"It will take me a bit, but should I go after her? She cant fight crime without it!"
Thinking about it, Chichi's first response was yes. But Gohana wouldnt leave something like this behind without a reason. With what they talked about last night, maybe there was a reason.
"No, your sister must have left it here for a reason. Go ahead and put it back where you found it for when she comes home." Chichi handed it back to Raina, who quickly headed off.
Raina grabbed it and took it back into Gohana's room. She still had a feeling Gohana forgot it, bit she assumed her mother knew better. Putting it on the dresser next to her bed.
'I sure hope Nee chan doesn't need this.'
--
Gohana luckily got to the city so fast she actually had some time to spare before class. She let out a sigh of relief, she wasnt looking forward to being late, especially after missing yesterday. She didn't want to press her luck with her mom.
Slowing down a little bit since she has some time, Gohana reached into her backpack, finally putting her food capsule into her bag, having held it the entire flight. Taking her hand out, Gohana stopped mid air. Below her she heard a few gun shots.
Going lower to check it out, she noticed it was just a single person robbing a small shop. At first, Gohana didn't think much of it as she was sure the two police cars worth of officers there could handle it. About ready to fly off, Gohana quickly remembered!
'Shit, theres no way of knowing! Id better step in just in case.'
Reaching for her watch, Gohana quickly realized she wasnt even wearing it. She quickly started rummaging through her backpack in hopes she put it there, but no luck. She must have forgotten it in her rush just earlier! Quickly looking around, Gohana quickly dug back into her backpack. She did have her PE uniform, even though it was really just her sparing bottoms and top, so it would have to do. Glancing around to make sure noone was around, but then feeling sily about it as she was up in the air, Gohana quickly changed into her PE uniform, stuffing her cloths into her backpack, and threw it on a random rooftop.
The police officers were in a dead stand off. So far only a few shots had been fired from the criminals side, plus a single warning shot form them. They knew no one was in danger, everyone had made it out. He was just putting everyone else in danger by refusing to surrender, and the few random shots he had shot off put others at unnecessary risk.
"Chief, what do we do? We know you said be extra carefull, but were just not sure. Is he dangerous like the others." one of the older officers asked over the coms.
He waiting for an answer, but before one came, he saw a girl suddenly land in between the shop and the cars.
"Alright I don't have time for this, now get out here before I come in there and bring you out!" Gohana screamed at him.
Both the criminal and the cops looked at this girl. Neither really recognized her and thought she was some random crazy wannabe super hero.
Looking at her real hard, the criminal inside did notice she looked a bit similar, but couldnt place it immediately But it didn't matter, this was an easy way out as he pointing the gun at Gohana.
"You hear me Pigs! Let me go or the girl gets it!" and shooting the ground near her, trying to scare the girl.
Gohana just blinded at him, shocked he had the guts to shot.
"Hey, get out of here! What do yo think you are doing!" one of the officers shouted.
This threw Gohana off so much she actually turned around, she recognized these officers amoung the many the city had, and they couldn't recognize her without her outfit?
"Oh come on, all I did was forget my outfit!" Gohana said to them and let her aura flare for them so they would recognize her, the burglar looking like he saw a ghost and shit is pants. Mostly because he did.
Turning back to him, Gohana quickly appeared behind him, tapping him lightly from behind with enough force to make him go flying towards the cars, as she reappeared to catch him before he hit them.
'Wait, he doesn't know about ki.' Gohana could finally sense. The regular police would have had this no problem, so she didnt need to get invovled.
Setting the now passed out man against one of the cars, the officers all came up to her looking very sheepishly.
"Saiyako, I'm so sorry but...well we didnt recognize you!" the rest if them looking a bit sheepish as well.
"I know I don't have my regular outfit, but wouldn't my hair and appearing from the sky be a clue?" Gohana asked a bit confused, still keeping her voice purposely the same as she usuall as Saiyako.
"Well, with all due respect...we didn't think you being so...young."
Gohana can't say she expected that as an answer and she juat blinke confused.
"That and that other blond girl a while back with similar powers, and you usually have your hair in a ponytail. Well a Spikey ponytail, but I didnt...im sorry." He bowed to her.
"Ah, no need it's okay. I just wasn't sure. I mean...Im not sure how much has been shared with everyone but i didn't want to risk it."
None of the officers seemed to know what exactly she meant except one of them. Once again, the older one.
"Oh, that. It hasn't officially been briefed upon. But some of us do. At least until later today. Still, even though we didnt need your help afterall Saiyako, Im grateful you did concidering!"
"Your welcome. Anyway, i have to see the Chief later with Videl. Can..." Gohana rubber her neck nervously, "can you pass on the message i wont have my usual outift? I honestly forgot it this morning."
"Of course Saiyako!" they all said in unison.
"Thanks. Now if youll excuse me," hovering in the air, "I have somewhere to be!" and speed off towards school.
The officers just watched as she vanished quickly from their sight. Even though they had all seen Saiyako do that a few times now, plus more stuff, they still weren't used to seeing it.
"Man, I'm glad shes on our side!"
--
Landing just a block from school in the alleyway, Gohana put her cloths back on just over workout cloths. She could easily take the top one off later if she wanted, but she usually wore it over a sports bra all the time anyway so it wouldn't matter. Double checking her hair was black and not blond, Gohana casually walked the last block to school. She could see some students still making their way there.
'Sweet, I'm not late.'
Gohana lightly picked up the pace, before noticing that some of the students actually seemed to be running a bit. This threw her off big time. They weren't late so they shouldn't be rushing to get there. Turning the corner, she saw the school, the crowd in front, and a few limos. Did a celebrity come by or something?
Picking up her own pace, Gohana quickly got there. She didn't notice anyone near the cars, just some tuff looking guys in suits. Not really wanting to be late, also not really carring if someone famous or something was at school, Gohana just headed towards the front door.
Before Gohana pushed the door open, the door opened as someone came out. Gohana awkwardly appologized and went past them before it hit her. Turning around, she saw Jakes father there. Though she couldn't remember his name, she also didn't care either.
"You!" he screamed.
"Huh, what about me?" Gohana flatly answered back, crossing her arms annoyed. Why did she promise her mom and the principal she wouldn't cause a scene when Jake returned.
"Don't you fucking disrespect me like that! You nearly crippled my son!"
"And he tried to assault me and my friend." Gohana monotonely replied, recalling he was very full of himself.
It was already obvious that he was furous with her, and that she was already in just two reaponses was getting under his skin. This would probably make it easier to get him to leave in frustration. She's had plenty of practice with Vegeta, and at least he can at least back up what he says! Mostly.
"Look if you don't have anything worth saying then leave. Its not like it was difficult last time to beat you or your son." Gohana goated him as the bell for class rang.
It was obvious that instantly hit the mark Gohana was hoping. She knew this conversation was over so without saying another word, Gohana smirked at him and then just walked away.
He stood there trembling, how dare she! If she really knew who he was, she would not be so casual when addressing him. But she didnt know he controlled a large majority of the crime bosses in the city. But he would find a way, why else would he gone through the trouble of recruiting Tao Pai Pai.
--
Nobody in class would say anything. Even the teacher was a little unnverved about the whole situation. It wasn't until the bell rang that some students finally made their way into the classroom, and the large group of students at the door started to disperse. A few noticed Gohana walking in and they quickly tried going in with her to feel safe. Until Jake shot up and slammed his fist into the table. This caught everyones attention, Gohana included, and it was obvious she annoyed.
"Son Gohana!"
The studens that were near Gohana as she entered all scooted back away from her. They knew where this could lead and they didn't want to be near a possible fight. Jake marched over to her and tried to stare down Gohana. Though as she was taller than him, he was technically looking up.
"You nearly crippled me! And you did cripple some of my friends! And I saw what you did! I know what you are." He tried to threaten her.
Gohana just sighed and took her backpack off her shoulder, letting it drop to the ground.
"Fine its clear you have an issue with me, at least you're man enough to stand up to me." Gohana responded flatly.
Jake didn't fully get what she was talking about. Nor did he really care. All he knew was he had to get revenge on her.
"I demenad a rematch! Just you and me!"
"Jake, you really are dumb aren't you? If you really saw what I did and know what I did, what on Earth makes you think you'll have a chance?" Gohana tried baiting him. Not like anyone would believe him if he said what she did anyway, so she wasn't too worried about that.
"The Budokai! I want to fight you there. That way everyone can watch me beat you. The daughter of a previous champion, no wonder i couldn't beat you!" throwing Gohana off a little bit.
Gohana did have to give him credit, he actually did some research and found out her dad was a champion. She didn't honeatly think that highly of him prior.
"Congrats, you did your homework. But I sure as hell won't be competing just to fight you. It wouldn't even be worth my time to sign up." Gohana just grabbed her backpack back up and walked past him a bit.
"Then I'd hate to see what happens to your friends." Jake muttered under his breath as she past him, loud enough so she could hear, stopping dead in her tracks.
"Oh, that got your attention. Yeah, you saved Erasa last time. But what about when you're not there? And you know I have beef with Videl."
At Videls name, Gohana's eyes became slightly ragebinducing, her eyes changing to green, as she struggled to not let her hair change, though slightly raised a bit ready to change. Lime even lightly shuddered, not going unnoticed by Videl would could sense Gohana's ki, but couldn't fully get a read on it.
"Struck a cord have I?" Jake tried mocking her.
"If you touch them..." Gohana started.
"Just enter later today when they open registration and I promise I wont lay a finger on them. Or anyone of my buddies."
Taking a deep breath, Gohana calmed down as her eyes went back to their typical black. Turning around to face Jake.
"I enter, you leave them alone, and everyone else. I beat you and you stop bothering me or my friends ever again."
"Thats IF you beat me. But fine. I don't want to be forced to go through that hell again. I will beat you to make sure I dont have to.
Gohana got the odd feeling that something was a little bit different with Jake now. Though she couldn't fully put her finger on it. She could sense he had gotten stronger. But his eyes gave him away. Something wasn't right with him, but it really didn't matter right now.
"Fine, I'll enter the tournament so you leave Videl alone. But if I find you've hurt my friends before that, I swear you'll regret it." Gohana glarred at him menacingly.
She knew even before training Videl that Jake could potentially hurt her. And she wouldn't allow anyone to hurt her now still. Gohana stormed to her own seat as Jake returned to his own, and the rest of the students quickly getting to their seat. Gohana's demand he leave everyone alone did seem to help many of the student and the teacher feel a bit more comfortable.
Sitting at her seat, Gohana just leaned her arms on the table and scoffed, as she slowly started longer deep breaths to calm herself down.
'Can today get any weirder?' Gohana thought to herself.
--
Gohana grabbed the food capsule from her bag as she sat with Videl, Lime, and Erasa under the usual tree they ate at. Though it did feel a little weird, they knew why Gohana was in a weird funk. At least they thought. But today was so tense that even the other students felt a little odd.
"Gohana, you going to be alright?" Lime finally asked her, seeing Gohana's mood instantly get better with the food.
"Yeah. Sorry it's juat been a weird day already. And I ran into Jakes dad before class. And I forgot my watch that has my outfit so I ended up helping out without it."
"Wait, how did you disguise yourself?" Videl asked.
"I just used my training outfit, transformed and kept my voice. Though even they didnt recognize me at first."
"Well your hair does look pretty different at 2 in a ponytail compared to it juat hanging down like it is now." Lime tried defending them.
"Oh yeah, Gohana I dont think I've ever seen you with your hair down." Erasa spoke up, noticing that now herself. "Its so beautiful."
"Oh, yeah, Raina woke up up pretty late. I almost didn't make it to school on time."
"Im surprised your mom didn't wake you up earlier!" Lime spoke up.
Gohana quickly thought of something else to change the topic to. She knew full well Lime would dig deeper about why, and she didn't think she could tell Lime. Not yet at least, and definitely not with Videl here. Or Erasa!
"Anyway Videl, how do I enter the Budokai?" Gohana asked to quickly change the topic, but was also genuinely curious.
"Wait, you were serious?" Videl asked in surprise.
"Well, yeah. After class before I caught up with you two, Jake asked if I bring my registration confrimation form tomorrow, he promised to leave you alone."
"Wait, just me?"
"Uh, plus everyone else!" Gohana caught herself quickly and went back to eating her food.
"Im honestly just glad I won't have to worry about what may be behind ever turn." Erasa sifhed woth reliefe.
"Well, as much as a prick he is, Jake is oddly well known to keep his promises. Though usually they are threats. But honestly, I hate to say, I kinda believe him." Lime gave her thoughts on the matter.
"Speaking of, Gohana how do you plan on showing up to the police station later without your outfit?" Videl asked, knowing they would head there after school.
"Well, I asked one of the officers to pass the message i wont have my usual outfit on. I figured just stick with Super Saiyan 2 and my training cloths like I did this morning." Gohana answered and went back to her ramen she was finishing up.
Videl looked at the food and found some tempura shrimp. She remembered how good Chichi made them and reached over and took one for herself and she started eating it. She was enjoying the flavor of the shrimp mixed with the crunchy tempura coating. She couldn't tell what else was there but Chichi used some type of subtle spice with the breading.
"Oh, man Gohana you're so lucky! You're mom makes the best food Ive ever had, no matter what it is!" Videl gushed a bit before noticing Limes shocked face.
Lime just looked at Videl, then Gohana, then back to Videl. How did Videl actually get food from Gohana? As nice and gentle natured as Gohana is, she knew not to take food from her! Well, the other Saiyans as well. She'd only ever seen Bulma be able to take food from Vegeta. Even Chichi and Bulma wouldnt take food from their own kids!
"Hey Gohana, could i try some of-"
Lime didnt even finish that sentence before she could feel Gohana glancing over to her with her eyes saying it all. 'Dont touch my food' and she kept eating the dumpling she was working on.
Where else had Lime seen this behavior before?
--
Gohana and Videl walked a little slowly towards the police station. Luckily Videl had her communicator with her and knew the Chief was briefing the entire police force, so they didn't need to rush over there. They could take their time.
"So, you're seriously going to enter huh?" Videl broke the silence.
"What the Tournament? Yeah, if it keeps Jake from hurting anyone."
"Well, there goes my chance of winning." Videl sarcastically said.
"Wait, were you entering?" Gohana asked surprised.
"Well, yeah! Even before we meet I was training to enter into it. Why shouldn't I? Your dad and family did even though they overpowered everyone. And I worked my ass off still!" Videl started defending herself.
"Hey, calm down I wasn't judging! Just not fully with it today!" Gohana defended herself nervously. "Why are you asking me that again?"
"Honestly was going to ask you about it anyway. My dad is entering him and myself later today and he asked if you all would enter."
"So do you think anyone else will enter?"
"Well I don't know who would. I doubt Vegeta would want to enter. Though maybe Krillin and 18. I know 18 wants Krillin to get a real job so they have more income. And the prize money would be good for them."
"But don't you and your family need it for food?" Videl asked.
"No, not really. Grampa helps a bit, not to mention my side job with Bulma. That one feeds us for a year in just a few weeks."
Wow, to make that much working hard yet living so humbly. Videl couldn't help but admire Gohana even more now. Just add that to the list of traits of reasons she was falling for her. Videl looked down as she was blushing, for the first time glad she was shorter than Gohana.
"To answer your question, I'll just beat Jake if we get matched up, then throw the next one. If we dont, I'll jist throw it against your dad. Either option would show him Im better. Either directly or because I got to the final round."
"Does it seriously not bother you my dad took your credit?"
"Honestly I was a wreck for a while. Even after I got a bit focused it took me a few years to get semi stable. I even have little episodes still. No way could I have handled the media. As far as I'm concerned your dad taking the credit saved me mentally. He can have the fame. I don't even want my status as Princess, let alone savior of the world."
"Your the only person i know who would throw away fame and royalty for a simple life."
'And thats partially why Im falling for you.' Videl thought and blushed again.
"I'll still confront your dad about it with you if you want. Truth be told I have been curious myself. Just never enough to do anything about it."
The rest of the walk became awkward silence again. Videl was too much in her mind about Gohana. And Gohana, while also thinking of Videl, was more focused on what happened today with Jake as well.
Gohana was so out of it she didnt even realize they had arrived at the police station. She knew she couldn't just walk in like this and change once inside. She looked around for possible solutions. Videl picked up on this and motioned towards an nearby alleyway that was partially blocked off. Checking that no one was there, Gohana just took her jeans and shirt off, having left her training cloths on even from PE. Stuffing them in her backpack, Gohana held out her bag to Videl who looked confused.
"They wont question why you have a bag with the Orange Star High badge on it." Gohana said while going Super Saiyan 2
"Yeah I guess you're right. But why not just take it off?" Videl asked.
"My mom also got the canvas badge and sewed it to my bag" Gohana nervously answered.
"Oh, yeah I guess that makes sense. Anyway should we go?" Videl asked.
"Yeah, sure. Lets get this over with."
