"Hey! That's mine!"

"You can share. Don't be greedy."

"We did buy a lot of extras."

"No, I bought a lot of extras."

AJ pouted as Jia plucked an eggroll off of his plate. They, along with Nia, were at his house and enjoying a mountain of takeout he had ordered. She smiled and took a bite out of it and hummed in delightly. "Steak and cheese in an eggroll. Americans really will put their own spin on anything," she said.

"American also will fight to keep people from picking off their plate," he said as he nodded towards the other box. "There's like twenty more egg rolls over there."

"Yeah, but they aren't steak and cheese," Jai pointed out, raising it up and allowing Sol to take a bite. "Besides, Nia is gonna eat the rest of those all on her own."

Nia smiled. "Probably!" she said holding up her chopsticks. Jia was impressed with how easily the girl had managed to start using them. She really was a fast learner.

AJ made a mental note to order Jia her own egg rolls next time, but then felt a hand land on his head and start ruffling his hair. "Ah, let it go kid. You should start getting used to giving in to chicks when it comes to food. Know how many times your mom picks off my plate?"

The boy scowled and swatted his father's hand away. Casey Jones looked every bit the New Yorker he had been as a kid. If someone on the street had seen him, they would have guessed her was part of a biker gang rather than a millionaire. And, technically they would be right. He would never argue that O'Neil Tech was his wife's project.

Her and Donnie's anyway.

"I do not pick off your plate!" April said as she made her way inside. She flicked the side of her husband's head, and then looked down at her son. "And don't be stingy AJ. They're your guests, and you can always order more. Take what you want girls," she said smiling down at them.

"Thank you Mrs. Jones!" Nia and Jia said gratefully. Sol chirped in response.

AJ sighed. Of course his mom would side with them. "Yeah right. As soon as they leave you're gonna tell me to go to the kitchen and cook something for myself," he said rolling his eyes. "And you totally pick stuff off of dad's plate, yesterday you- mmf!"

"Don't take it with your mouth full."

Nia and Jia both looked on wide eyed at AJ, who now had a piece of orange chicken stuffed in his mouth. April stood smirking, her finger raised up. The piece of chicken had just… just floated up and shot right towards his face. "Whoa?! What was that?!" Nia asked, shooting up from her seat.

April looked towards her confused. "What?"

"That! Moving the chicken! Did you do that?!" Jia asked.

A look of realization came across April's face. "Oh, that's right. This is the first time you'd seen it… have you really not told her yet AJ?" she asked.

AJ swallowed his chicken. "Never came up," he said casually. As if this wasn't at all shocking in the slightest. "But yeah, mom is an esper or whatever."

"That's so cool!" Nia said excitedly.

Jia looked amazed. "So, you can move things just by thinking about it! That is so awesome!" she said before turning towards AJ. "How come you never told us?!"

"I told you, it never came up."

"There was like a million times you could have mentioned your mom has psychic powers! There's not a bad time to mention it," Jia argued.

Casey laughed and put an arm around April's shoulders. "Ah, don't be too mad at him. I think we just got so used to it that it ain't big news to us anymore. But yeah, my wife is a badass," he said proudly. April nudged him. "Oh right, no cursing in front of the kids. Sorry girls."

Neither one of them was at all bothered by the slip, and instead turned towards AJ. "Wait a second. If your mom has psychic powers, does that mean you do?" Nia asked.

He shook his head. "Nah, I'm just a normie. No mind powers for me."

April patted him on the head. "One, there's nothing wrong with not having powers. You dad and uncles don't have any, and they're even more amazing than I am," she said before giving Casey a kiss on the cheek. AJ gagged, and his father flicked the back of his head. "And two, you never know. I didn't get my powers until I was sixteen."

AJ groaned. Having to wait four more years to find out if he had powers or not sucked. Why couldn't he have just been born with them? He got ready to take another bite of his food, but then noticed Nia and Jia staring at them. The girls both had smiles on their faces, and… he felt a chill up his spine. "Uh… what's with you guys?"

"Let's find out if you have powers!" NIa said, grabbing his wrist.

"This is gonna be awesome!" Jia yelled, grabbing his other wrist.

"Hey! Guys, hold on! It's ain't that simple!"

His parents watched as he was dragged off by the two girls. Casey smiled. "Barely old enough to be thinking about girls, and already got two of em hanging around. That's the Jones DNA for ya," he said running a hand through his hair.

April clicked her tongue. "Yesh, okay, sure..."

"Hey! How can you deny the Jones DNA? It worked on you red."

"Of course it did sweetie."

"Guys, this ain't gonna work," AJ said as he stood in the middle of his family's workout room. His folks used it to work out and train in their free time. Usually his dad just stuck to beating up on a practice dummy, but his mom jumped around the place like she was on American Ninja or something.

"Don't be like that. You never know until you try," Jia said.

"I have tried!" AJ argued. He'd spent god knows how many hours trying to bend spoons or read minds, and got nothing. "I tried a whole bunch of stuff. It ain't gonna work."

Nia pouted. "Oh c'mon. You have to keep on trying. You never know when it might actually work. Remember how long it took me to use my full power?"

"That's different. You have magic from the get go. I don't even know if I'm actually psychic or not," he said crossing his arms.

Jia hummed. "Well, maybe you just didn't have the right motivation."

"Mariposa kicking my butt up and down the Neverzone wasn't enough motivation?" He had spent the last few weeks, even longer in the Neverzone's timeline, training with the woman. If his powers hadn't activated then, he figured he just didn't have them.

Jia smiled and put her hands on Nia's shoulders, guiding the other girl halfway across the room. "Let's try something else. Here." She tossed him a spoon before walking to the other side of the room.

AJ caught it, then raised an eyebrow. "Why you stealing my spoons?"

"For this test. Now listen. Every time you move the spoon, you get to take a step towards Nia," she said gesturing towards the princess. Nia smiled and waved towards him, and the boy blushed. "And every time you don't, I take a step towards her."

AJ whipped his head towards her, and Jia smirked back. "You little…."

"What? If this doesn't get you to use your powers, nothing will," she said before leaning towards him. "And you should try your best, because who knows what's gonna happen once I reach her," she whispered.

"What?!"

"Alright, let's get started!" Jia said, turning towards Nia. "First try, go on."

AJ scowled and looked down at the spoon. "This is bull…" he muttered as she tried to focus. He grit his teeth and looked at the spoon close, but nothing happened.

After a few seconds, Jia hummed. "Well, that one try." She skipped forward towards Nia.

"Hey! That wasn't a step! It was a skip!" he complained. Jia just shrugged.

"Don't worry AJ, I'm sure you can do it!" Nia cheered.

He sighed and tried again, thinking only about moving the spoon in some way. Bending it, twisting it, just getting it to budge. Anything. A few more moments passed, and Jia clicked her tongue. "That's another try," she said, skipping forward once more.

"How come you get to decide how long a try is?!"

"Because if you did we'd be here all day. Now try again."

He groaned and then gave it another shot. And then another. And another. Every time he failed, Jia would take yet another skip towards the princess, and as she got closer he was feeling more and more nervous. What was she planning on pulling off once she reached Nia? He knew she was a bit more bold than him when it came to this stuff, so he wondered if she was planning on…

"Crap!" he said, clearly frustrated.

"Don't stress out AJ, I think you're really close," Nia said sympathetically.

Jia nodded. "Yeah, but you really should hurry. I'm just one skip away," she warned.

AJ growled and focused so hard that it looked like it would pop a blood vessel. "C'mon you stupid spoon! Bend!" he said angrily. The girls watched him closely, hoping to see even the smallest hint of powers. But after two whole minutes, nothing happened.

Jia frowned. As much as she had been teasing, she really had hoped he would show something. "Well, you gave it your best shot. Maybe your mom was right and you won't get them until you're older," she said. Or maybe he just didn't have them, he thought bitterly. This sucked. "But, that was your last try, so…"

He looked up as Jia got ready to take her final step towards Nia. Crap, what was she gonna do? "Hold up!" Jia skipped forward, but right as she was about to land next to Nia, the blonde suddenly slid further away. Nia nearly tripped, but managed to balance herself.

All three of them stood in silence, clearly confused by what had just happened. Jia looked towards Nia. "Did… did you do that?" she asked.

Nia shook her head. "Nuh-uh. Wasn't me," she before turning towards AJ

Jia raised an eyebrow, and then took another skip towards her. Once again, Nia moved away from her, and… closer towards AJ. She whipped her head towards the boy, who looked just as confused as they did. "Are you…? Is that you?"

AJ looked back and forth between them and his hand. "I… I don't know," he said trying to do it again. Nia could feel some invisible force pulling her entire body across the floor. "Holy crap, I think I am."

Jia hummed, and then suddenly rushed towards Nia. AJ reacted quickly, and Nia suddenly slid across the room and right towards him. She stumbled into him, but he caught her by the shoulders and helped her balance herself. The two were face to face, and both blushed.

"So looks like you being totally jealous was it," Jia said, smirking.

Nia quickly stood back up, and AJ scowled. "T-that wasn't it!" he said. He had just been thinking about… keeping them separated. Crud, that was it wasn't it?

"See, I know you could do it," Nia said. He had been trying to move a spoon, but he ended up moving a whole person. It had worked out way better than they planned.

AJ looked back down at the spoon again and tried to focus. It just barely moved, and he looked amazed. "I can't believe it. I did it," he said.

Jia hummed. "That's weird. If you moved Nia you should totally be able to bend it now. But then again I guess you felt a lot more panicky about that," she teased.

"Shut up!" he said, looking back at the spoon. "I just need some practice." He should probably ask his mom what to do.

Nia looked elated. "This is so amazing! You have powers! You know, you should join the Vanguard! You could join our department, and we could be partners! We could-"

AJ held his hands up. "Chill blondie," he said, cutting her off. "Joining the Vanguard is a little much. I mean, I'm totally not hero material."

Nia frowned. "Aw…" She was disappointed. In her eyes he was totally cool enough to be a hero. "But we can still do cool stuff and go on adventures, right?"

"We do that anyway," Jia said giggling.

"Yeah, but not it's gonna be even cooler because we have a physic! Oh, if you can read minds, you can pass all our tests at school!" Nia said.

"Wow, she's right… there's all sorts of stuff you can get away with now," Jia said. "Nobody would ever be able to keep secrets from you. You could find out about stuff from all the boys and girls at school."

"Yeah, but not ours."

"No never ours."

AJ looked at the two go back and forth. He had a feeling they were going to think of a lot more devious stuff than he was to use his powers for. This might have been a mistake. Still, it was a super cool mistake he was gonna take full advantage of.

A/N: Commission from Laylaylamode for some long overdue AJ content! Honestly I feel like including Jia in this made it that much more fun to write, and I see her being around for a lot more one-shots along with Nia and AJ in the future! They make a pretty great group and I wanted to have that sort of dynamic with Nia on Earth. Hope you guys enjoyed!
