Kjon's Audio Diary Log.

KJ147, man oh man does this place have a history for itself. At least that's if you take into consideration how long Oomans have been here you know what I'm saying buddy, but even before then, this place and the Shadows go way back.

That's right I forgot. Shadows are what I call Xenomorphs, and that's not because my clan calls them that, they just call them "hard meats". The reason why I call them Shadows is because they like to hide in the shadows because that makes them less noticeable in a hunting situation, and because there's this one song I heard when I was a kid, I still listen to it now. It's by Terrence Mann, called 'Power of the Night' in it there's a continuing part where the guy sings "Its the Power of the Night, Streets are Calling, Stealing from the Light, Shadows crawling." And yeah that's what I call xenos.

As for the other question you may be asking me right now, yes Xenomorphs were here well before Oomans were. In fact my specific clan used to own this planet as a breeding planet for the shadows. Not to many people outside of Weyland Yutani's more secretive elements actually know about that. And yes, I've seen them before with my own two eyes. Heck I've had to dig a few Shadow nests out in some of them.

Also for those of you wondering how the xenos could survive in the unstable environment Weyland Yutani found it in before they began terraformation. See those things aren't like normal animals or bugs that exist within a hive or colony. They don't need to eat, breath sleep, or take a morning dump. They don't even age. They have this thing called negligible senescence which basically means these things don't just die of old age. They're built for one thing and one thing only. To kill, destroy, and infest by adding our numbers to theirs, that is it. And nothing stops them. Don't ask me why they're able to, I'm not a scientist. And the reason for why the planet was so inhospitable in the first place was because my clan let the population of Shadows grow to unstable. They ended up wiping out all the native wildlife and all the plants eventually went too. After my clan hunted the fckers to near extinction they just kind of left it be, unknowing that there were still Shadows left on the planet, hidden underground. Fast forward to 2584, Weyland Yutani finds this planet and spends the five years terraforming it for colonization. While returning oxygen to the atmosphere along with regrowing the jungles, reinstituting new wildlife from similar planets to this one, and finishing work on the colonies, along with the facilities such as the one I'm in now which used to be Charles Weylands primary base of shadow experimentation. Heck this place was practically his home. Anyway as the planet was being prepared for colonization, they end up waking up some of the neighbors. After a few colonies go of the comms, and some guys get some sightings of Shadows, who else but Weyland decides its a good idea to go get some specimens?

And I know the documents say that the Colonial Marines were sent to make a full planetary extermination of the creatures, but they were all lies. Weyland actually had some of his science teams take a few specimens before the marines were called. The lousy son of a btch!

Also for those of you who are wondering why he even called the marines in the first place if he was so adamant about getting those specimens, well there were a lot of colonists who'd migrated to this new planet, and if the colonists knew their home was infested with shadows they'd expect Weyland to do something about it or else they'd leave. The colonists were not just his customers or his employees, but they were his funding, his credits (currency in Aliens universe). Because everyone on this planet were literally both his consumers and his working hands, they were his means of earing the money for these experiments. If he didn't do as they requested there would be consequences, and people may have gotten curious which would have also lead to exposure.

He knew this and decided to play it smart. Take a specimen back alive first, while letting everyone who wasn't informed of the present danger aware of it, and do his best to protect the colonies until the marines came.

I should also mention that the United States Colonial Marine Corps, wasn't really itself anymore after what happened during the Earth War. (The Earth War was a period of conflict where the humanity was at war with the Xenomorph species after the corporation Biotech International brought a xenomorph specimen to Earth, A hive was quickly established and some of the later specimens managed to escape and infest certain areas of the world, eventually managing to infest almost the entire planet forcing what remaining humans lives there to flee to other colonized planets for safety) After Earth fell to the shadows and everybody just bugged out trying to find a new home that was safe, things naturally went crazy. Although things have gotten better and we've managed to take most of the planet back the governments are still in shambles. During this Class-A cluster fck, the United States Colonial Marines were bought out by other interplanetary super power tycoons like Weyland Yutani, so they just became the Colonial Marines. They were basically hired guns, but thankfully they didn't act as such, most of them anyway.

He had them all sweep the landscape of the entire planet. If their was a cave everybody searched it, if there was a abandoned colony it was searched too. Heck I'm pretty sure they were even looking for these things underneath rocks and trees too. But they weren't the only ones interested in the action. During the sweep the marines came across part of my clan's civilization, which still had working sensory detection, that promptly sent a call to my clan telling them something was up.

Weyland Yutani had become something of an urban legend to my species. The company had been enemies with my species for quite a while now. They'd been trying to capture us so they could dissect our technology and use it for their purposes. And with the way my species is about it's code of honor-well most of my species anyway-that wasn't going to happen. Although I should say that that's not the real reason why my clan came back. The sensors had also detected some shadow activity and were itching for a hunt, although they were also a bit desperate at the time too.

See at the time my clan was facing a shortage in precious minerals that they needed to make their hunting equipment, and tools. You can pretty much see where this went. It also didn't help that some of the hunts that certain members of the clan had gone on didn't go to well, and a lot of valuable hunting supplies got lost and destroyed. To top it all off, there were new young bloods that had completed their training and were incredibly eager to prove themselves as blooded members of the clan. But there was a way to solve this issue though. While my clan was facing a lack of resources, other clans were rich in those resources an were producing weapons, armor, and tools like nothing. But you aren't just given the stuff for free, you've got to give something that's worth it.

In my society, you could exchange things for gold and silver, which is also valuable to us as well, just not to the same degree as it is to Oomans, or you could exchange other more valuable things like, concubines, warriors, hunting territory, or game.

On that day though they were after the game. Not just any game, but the most valuable and dangerous of game, a Queen Shadow. Those were the most valuable of game as my people see them as the perfect prey, for reasons that will be explained later on as I go through these logs.

They decided to bring the young-bloods with so they could be blooded, and because of the shortage of equipment these guys would be necessary for the operation. It was basically a win-win situation, the young-bloods get to prove themselves, the clan gains more honor, reclaims some territory, and saves itself on a major lack of resources and equipment. I should also point out that since this mission was so urgent and dangerous most of the clan went for this incursion. This was an all-hands-on-deck scenario. However there were the pups, and a few of the mothered females who guarded them who did stay behind. Although why they brought some of the pregnant females with I have no fcking clue, but I digress.

Now after seven years since the planetary extermination began, the marines were finally reaching the end of totally cleansing the planet. With the exception of the shadows that had been captured, and locked away in the research facilities. However there was still one nest left, and a very very big one at that. This is were it all began, where the shadows had been hibernating for so long. They'd established an absolutely massive last stand army against the marines.

Now while this "final battle" has been renamed as the Three World's War, since my clan became present in it. They actually didn't arrive until most of the fighting between the marines and shadows had taken place. Originally it was called the Battle of Marlow's Valley because that's the valley in which it took place.

Now the two conflicting species were at a stalemate at first with both species having no advantage over the other. They both had large numbers to their forces. The shadows acid blood, persistence, and fearless nature kept them from losing, while the marines had the equipment, numbers, and strategy to keep up with them. The battle lasted for five days straight with neither the xenos or the marines being able to gain an advantage. Once my clan joined the altercation that changed. I can't tell you anything about how it went, since I wasn't there when it happened. But from what I read I do know that all three species fought viciously against each other, and all three of them sustained heavy casualties. The first to go were the Shadows, and although they were persistent, they'd suffered the worst in terms of casualties because of their lack of an effective strategy, and superior weaponry, both of which the Yatja (Yautja) and Oomans had at their disposal. With the Shadows out of the game that left my clan and the marines. Now while my species are physically stronger than Oomans, my clan lacked the firepower, numbers, and strategy necessary to continue the fight.

Although the fight wasn't a complete loose as they did get the queen like they wanted. Although, when you take a look at the looses they faced, you'd find it questionable if the fight was even worth it. Personally I don't think it was. Over half the clan members present in the fight and an uncalculatable amount of their technology had been lost in the fight. They tried making up for this by destroying what was left behind remotely from their mother ship. Most of it was destroyed, but not all of it. And the worst part about it was that they didn't even know it was still there, nor that they'd left behind a survivor. My mother.
