Ever since her first adventure in mewni, Jia had been eager to go out on another adventure. After all, she was the new part of the Phoenix. Surely she was destined to go out and see all types of fun places. Go on epic and awesome quests. And since she didn't get to see all of mewni last time, she figured she may as well start there.

It wouldn't be anything too crazy or dangerous. Maybe just see a few villages and creatures. She might be asked to help them out with something.

And things had looked like they were starting out on the right foot too. She had put on an outfit she had considered adventure worthy, and Sol had managed to teleport her right outside of a village. One that was… empty. Completely empty.

It was too strange. From what she could tell it wasn't abandoned. There were plenty of signs that people still lived here. Food stalls still packed, houses still in good condition. It seemed as if everyone just up and left for some reason. "What the heck is going on?" she asked, confused. Was there some kind of mewni holiday everyone left for or something?

She knocked on a few doors, but nobody answered. After peeking inside a few she decided maybe she should move on. So she left some money on a nearby food stand (earth coins, but she was sure they must have been worth something) grabbed a snack, and then made her way off.

She thought about going by the Butterfly castle to see if maybe that Visas girl was around. She seemed fun to hang around. But then she worried that if she was spotted there that someone would tell Astro, and Astro would tell her sister. She definitely didn't want that happening.

As she headed towards the end of the village, she suddenly felt the ground shake. She looked around wide eyed, and then heard loud screaming. "Oh, that's probably not good…"

Off in the distance, she saw a swarm of wild savage looking creatures begin to make their way towards the village. "Nà shìgè wèntí…" Sol began chirping loud as Jia pulled out her sword. There were hundreds of them, and they looked like some kind of mutated rabid dogs.

They covered the distance quickly, and Jia wondered what she should do. Get Sol to get her out of here? Make a run for it? She was pretty confident in her fighting skills, but there were a LOT of these guys.

"What are you doing here?!"

She turned, looked back and saw Astro, flanked by two others and… that guy was huge! Her eyes widened as she looked up at the towering figure behind Astro, the blonde, and the tall dark skinned boy with him. "I thought we evacuated everyone," Breeze said, frowning.

Fum shook his head. "We did! She wasn't here before!" He had made sure they'd cleared every single soul before escorting them away from here.

"Well, if someone's taking her back it ain't gonna be me. I missed the last brawl we had," Slick said, pulling his spear out. He walked past Jia eager to get the fight going.

Astro sighed. "For the love of stump Jia, why would you come back here?" he asked. When Dai Tai had asked him to keep an eye out for her, he didn't expect to see the girl so soon. But she really knew her younger sister apparently, because here she was.

"What the heck is going on. What are those things?" Jia asked, pointing towards the hoard of monsters headed their way.

Astro groaned and pulled out his sword. "Never you mind what they are. You just-"

"Do you know how to use that sword?" Breeze asked.

"Breeze?!"

"It's too late to take her back, and it isn't really going to be safe around here. I'm not asking her to charge in with us, but if she can defend herself it's one less thing we need to worry about," Breeze said as her fists started glowing. "You can hold your own, can't you girl?" she asked.

Jia smirked and nodded. "Yeah, I'm pretty good I think."

Astro looked annoyed, but then sighed again. "Whatever. Find someplace to hide and try and stay out of trouble," he said, running off before she could argue. The others followed after him, ready to meet the oncoming threat head on.

"So what are those things?" Jia asked.

Astro jumped when he realized that Jia was running right alongside her. "What the-?! What did I just say?!" She was literally doing the exactly opposite of hiding and staying out of the way! What was it with little sisters and not listening to a word their older siblings said?! "You turn around right now and-!"

"Too late! Here they come!" Slick shouted, raising his spear.

"God damn it!" Astro cursed. He was right. She had already been spotted and there was no way she could slip off the battlefield without being noticed. "Jia, these things aren't really alive! Fight to kill! And stay close!"

"Got it!"

Fum was the first to reach their enemies, lifting his hammer and bringing it down right at the head of their forces. A good number of them were scattered and sent flying, and even more were knocked over by the tremor he'd sent through the ground after the impact. Breeze and Slick leapt forward. Slick spinning his spear and slashing the few who'd managed to stay on their feet, while Breeze punched the ground and scattered even more of them.

Astro pulled out his sword and swung it, sending a wave of ice out and freezing over a good number of them. The creatures kept coming, crawling over the ice and their fallen allies to get to the group. Slick laughed as he kept spinning his spear around, cutting them down easily. Breeze avoided every one of their attacks before striking back with one of her own. And Fum punched down at the ground, flattening all the enemies near him.

Jia looked at the four in amazement. They were strong. Really strong. She then noticed that one of the ones Astro had cut down was crawling towards him. "Hey, look out!" She pulled out her sword and then ran forward, chopping it's arm clean off. Despite the loss of it's limb, it growled and kept trying to pull itself towards her.

Astro pulled Jia back and then brought his sword down, slicing it's head in two. "What the heck are these things?" Jia asked as he turned and swung at another one, slashing it across the chest. If it felt any pain at all, it didn't show it.

"Corpses!" Breeze explained punching another. The force behind the blow was so strong it tore the top half of its body clean off. "They're being manipulated by someone! A necromancer most likely!"

Jia's eyes widened. "So wait, we're fighting dead people?!"

"First time fighting the dead huh?" Slick asked laughing. "Don't worry, you get used to-" Slick was suddenly stabbed through the throat, and Jia gasped. He was quickly swarmed by the creatures, and was pulled to the ground with a look of terror on his face. Jia moved to help him, but Astro grabbed her shoulder.

"Don't bother, he's fine. Slick, stop screwing around!"

Jia was about to ask what the heck he was talking about, but suddenly Slick sprung back to life, laughing as he easily knocked away the enemies around him. "Sorry kid, I couldn't help. Look on your face was priceless," he said. The bites and scratches that had been on him had healed almost instantly.

She was about to tell him that it wasn't funny, but had to turn her attention towards another foe. She spun around and cut through their leg, causing them to fall on the ground. Again, it kept moving despite the injury. "Wow, you guys really do have all types of weird creatures here…" she said. Dragon, giants, even zombies. It was nuts.

"Fum, have you found the necromancer yet?" Breeze asked, kicking another away.

The giant smashed another of the creatures into the ground and nodded. "I can sense someone over those mountains west of here. It's a ways off, so that's probably why we couldn't sense his magic from here," he said.

"Must be using some kind of spell to see down here. Alright, one of us will have to-"

"I'll go!" Jia said as he flipped over another attacker. The other looked at her surprised, and Astro got ready to yell out absolutely not, but she ran forward. "Sol, the mountain over there! Go!"

The bird cried loudly before the two suddenly disappeared in a burst of flames. "God damn it!" Astro yelled, stomping his foot. He shot out another wave of ice, freezing over a large chunk of the enemies before him. "Why do they have to be so damn reckless!"

"You're one to talk," Breeze said, smirking. "Who is that girl anyway?"

"The wielder of the phoenix…"

Jia reappeared and stumbled forward. She quickly balanced herself and then looked around. She was high on top of some rocky mountain, and… there was a cloaked figure standing near the edge of it. She cautiously approached them, wondering if this was the necro-guy they had been talking about.

"Where did that little girl go…?" the figure muttered. "Ah well, wasn't planning for her anyway. As long as I take out the four, then-"

"Hey!" Jia called.

The figure turned around and saw her. "Oh shit!" Jia pulled out her sword and got ready to fight, and the man lifted his staff before… turning and running away.

"What the-?! Get back here!" Jia called running after him.

The necromancer ran as fast as he could, which honestly wasn't very fast at all. And from the way he was panting so heavily, Jia could only assume that he wasn't in the best of shape. Sol flew forward, easily catching up before pecking and scratching at him. "Hey! Ow! Get off you dumb bird! Get away from-" He tripped forward, dropping his staff. He reached out towards it as it rolled away from him. "No!"

Jia smirked before running past him, jumping up before stomping down hard and breaking it right in two. She could see some weird aura disperse from it, and the man gasped. "Oh I'm sorry, was that important? Because I really hope it was," she said.

"You little-! You ruined everything!" he said as he got back up and pulled out a knife. "I'm going to gut you like a fish you brat!" He ran at her, but Jia raised his sword and easily knocked the blade from his hand. She raised her sword to strike again, but he quickly raised his hands. "I surrender!"

Jia frowned. "Seriously?" She thought somebody who could raise the dead would be more… well, more. "Okay then. I accept you surrender I guess…."

The moment the staff had broken, the army of undead had all dropped… dead. It didn't take long for Astro and the others to reach her. Needless to say, they were a bit surprised to see both the staff broken, and the necromancer apprehended. "Not bad kid," Slick said, patting her on the head. "So you're the earth runt that the Phoenix chose huh? When Astro said you were from earth, I thought you might be soft."

Jia smiled proudly. "More than a few people from earth can hold our own you know. Plus this guy was kind of a pushover," she said nodding towards the necromancer.

"That was pretty cool," Fum said. She had to admit, it was a bit intimidating having him loom over her like he was. But he seemed nice enough. Much different than the wrecking ball he was on the battlefield. "You were gone in a flash, and a little while after they all just dropped. I thought it was gonna take way longer tracking him down."

Breeze hummed. "Yes, you're quite skilled for someone so young. Who taught you how to fight?" she asked, rubbing her chin.

"My parents," she answered. "My name is Jia by the way."

Breeze nodded back. "Forgive me. With all that went on I've forgotten to introduce myself. I am Breeze Johansen. It's a pleasure to meet you little one," she said.

Fum raised his hand. "I'm Fum! You fight good for somebody so tiny!"

"Slick," the Spiderbite prince introduced. "You got guts kid. I like you."

Jia smiled back, feeling more than a little happy to be acknowledged by people she could tell were such skilled warriors. But then a voice cried out. "None of you will get away with this!" the necromancer cried angrily. "The royals will be dethroned! The true force for good in mewni will prevail! You'll see! We have the blessing of Thea backing us, and our cause it-"

Slick kicked him across the chin, knocking him back. "God, all you malchemist chumps spout the same crap. When you get to hell tell Thea she can suck my-"

"Slick!" Astro said cutting him off. "There are children here!"

"Wait, are you guys gonna kill him?" Jia asked.

"I was planning to," Slick said honestly.

"No!" Astro snapped. "We're taking him in for questioning, and he's going to have a fair trial. And as for you," he said turning towards Jia. "While your help was very much appreciated, I still want to know what you're doing here. I don't see Dai Tai. Does she know that you're here."

The girl hummed. "Um… not exactly."

"I knew it. C'mon, we're going back to earth right now. You knew that mewni is too dangerous for you to be running around unsupervised."

He reached down to grab his scissors, but Jia stepped forward and grabbed his arm. "Wait, hold on a second!" she said. "I just wanted to explore a little bit! I didn't get to see a lot of mewni last time, so I wanted to look around. Is that so bad?"

"No, it's not. But sneaking off without telling your sister-"

"She wouldn't have let me come on my own, and she's too busy with the Vanguard to come with me," she explained. "I don't think me wanting to look around mewni is such a bad thing. This is where Sol is from right? So don't you think I should be able to let him explore his old home? Get to know it and stuff?" She stuck out her bottom lip, giving him the most sympathetic look she could muster.

Fum frowned. "Aw…"

Astro just narrowed his eyes. "Don't you dare try to give me that face. Do you know how many years Nia had tried and failed to use that on me? I'm immuned," he said bluntly.

"Come now Astro. The girl does raie a valid point," Breeze said. "I'm not saying we should make bringing her on missions a common practice, but there's little harm in her taking a look around, is there?"

Astro sighed. "Look, I will talk to your sister about letting you come to mewni, provided it's with her and your parents consent, and with supervision. I don't want you running off and getting in over your head like-"

"Like you used to," Breeze pointed out.

Jia giggled at the scowl that formed across Astro's face. "You are not helping right now…" he muttered.

"I'm not really trying to to be honest."

Astro waved her off before turning back to Jia. "C'mon, we're taking this idiot back to the castle, and then we're taking you home. I'm not lying to your sister about you being here," he said, causing Jia to pout. "But... just this once, I'll leave out a few of the details. She doesn't need to know you were fighting an army of undead."

Jia smiled. "Thanks. You're actually pretty cool Astro."

"The captain is the coolest!" Fum said, smiling.

The group made their way off, Fum asking Jia about her weapon and fighting style, and Slick dragging around the necromancer by his feet. Breeze walked up beside Astro, a curious expression on her face. "Say Astro. How overprotective is this sister of hers?" she asked.

Astro smirked back at her. "Why would you want to know that? You're not thinking about finally taking on a squire, are you?" he asked jokingly. When Breeze smirked right back at him, he paled. "No, absolutely not. Not a chance."

"Oh calm down. I was only kidding… mostly."

"No!"

A/N: I'm a huge fan of Jia's character! I loved her story, and just her whole concept with the phoenix in general! So I was excited when Laylaylamode asked me to do a fic with her going back to mewni and having a little mini adventure and run in with the Calamities! I'll definitely be having her in more one-shots in the future! Hope you guys enjoyed!
