Jennifer's Diary

Feb 14, 2621

You maybe wondering why I'm so interested in writing this story down when I don't have much to contribute to it. If I even contributed anything to it at all. You already know this, but recently I exposed secrets about my father's operations. These secrets were very troubling, to say the least. When I look back on the man that he was when he raised me, and the man that he actually was the whole time, I have a hard trying to believe that my father ,Charles Bishop Weyland, was the heartless monster he was. But after everything I found out, I cannot deny that it is true.

But I'm not going to talk about that right now. No I think it's best if I start this out the same way everyone else is and just start from the beginning.

So, seven years after the completion of the so called "Total Planetary Xenomorph Extermination War," Weyland had the KJ147's moons terraformed. The reason for this was to build research stations on those moons so that Weyland Yutani could study the xenomorph specimens that they'd acquired. The moons; Talco, Ralcos, Salmar, and Wayend, were formed shortly thereafter. This was done to try and help eliminate the potential for xenomorph outbreaks to occur on colonized soil and allow for them to research them without worrying about exposure. However, this is only partially true, as most of the specimens were transported to these stations. Some of the others were left behind deliberately. This was done because Weyland knew the marines had knowledge about his actions. Now although the Colonial Marines were technically ours since we bought part of their faction out, they still didn't see eye to eye with Weyland Yutani. And after looking at the Hadley's Hope incident on LV426, and Freya's Prospect on BG386, it's not hard to understand why. The Corps had lost a lot of marines during those "accidents" and weren't to trusting of Weyland Yutani. Charles knew some of them may try to bring this to the colonies attention, but in an effort to try and hide it he had most of the specimens transported to these stations, why the more important ones that he was touchy about stayed behind. I'm still looking through his documents and I'm finding out a lot of the secretive elements he was into at the time. I've found out a lot of things, but I haven't managed to find everything.

I should also point out that Ralcos became repurposed into a colonial settlement, rather than a research station like it was originally suppose to be, and I haven't found anything to explain why that happened.

Anyway, seven years after this was done, my mother ,Julie Mekks was pregnant with me. She was one of the head Xenologists (scientists who specialize in the study of the xenomorph species) stationed on the Talco research stations, which dealt with studying Ovamorphs (Xenomorph eggs) and facehuggers. She'd been having an affair with another scientist, I don't know who, which is kind of messed up to think about, but I ended up being the result. During my nine months conception, there was an incident that led to a malfunction which resulted in a containment failure with some of the Ovamorph specimens. Some of them hatched and the new born facehuggers ended up impregnating some of the scientists. Julie was one of them.

She was rushed back to KJ147 for surgery. And before you ask, yes Weyland Yutani has surgical devises made to remove chestbursters. As far as I know, we've had those things since Freya's Prospect. However we kept them for our research teams, and didn't openly produce them for the colonists. For those of you who are wondering why, it was another thing Charles did to keep himself from getting exposed. Think about it if he had openly came out with these things to the colonies, and told them it could help save them from the threat of being impregnated by a facehugger, when for all the colonists knew, there were no xenomorphs on the planet at all, or at least that that's what they were told... You can already see the contradiction, and why it would make some curious minds think, and why that would imply that Weyland Yutani had xenomorphs all this time, and why so many of these incidents have happened before. Obviously everyone would be panicked to find out Weyland was lying to them all this time, and they'd want to leave. But there was a problem with that.

You see the colonists, were not just Weyland's employees and customers (since everything on the planets belonged to the corporation that terraforms them, so technically everything on the planet itself has their name written on it) but so were there fathers before them, as well as their fathers, and the fathers before them, going all the way back to 2099 when the Weyland and Yutani Corporations pulled themselves together to become the interstellar superpower they are now. These were people who depended on Weyland Yutani for the survival of their very livelihood. If they found out the corporation that they've been holding onto for the past 520 years has been secretly experimenting on the xenomorph species, it would be chaos for both parties. News of this would break out to other planets, Weyland Yutani would crumble to nothing as the colonists would be on the run searching for a new interstellar superpower to flock to. In doing so though everything would become chaotic and disorganized. Riots would break out, social order would collapse, and everything would just go to hell as desperate people fled for their lives, from a threat that hadn't even broken out yet. Even though it already had.

Thankfully though Weyland Yutani and most of the Colonial Marines leadership saw this, and had created agreements that became law, which allowed none of this to happen. Although many of these laws forbid Weyland Yutani from researching the xenomorph species to begin with, but as the saying goes "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." Just because they made the rules doesn't mean they couldn't break them when it was convenient for them. The marines knew this was the case with Weyland Yutani and although they didn't like it, they understood it was what it was. Weyland was a lying scum bag who was putting everyone in danger, but he himself was a necessary figure for both them and the colonies they protected.

Weyland and the Colonial Marines held their agreement because of this, and continued to do what they did. The marines swatted the xenomorphs whenever they broke out, and Weyland would debunk them as false if they ever fell into the colonies radar. The media, internet, books, everything, all of it would be wiped clean of any information that suggested Weyland Yutani was even remotely responsible for these incidents. As such they were simply told that it was the marines fault and that they'd missed some xenomorphs during the seven year long war, or say that it was the work of the hunters.

We stilled had a vague knowledge of the Yautja at that time, and simply referred to them as hunters. Although we did gain quite a bit of knowledge on their species, and we did manage to gain a very good understanding of the workings of their technology as we kept having encounters with them over the centuries. Also, I should clarify that it was the marines who'd given them the common nickname Predators.

But at any rate, back on topic, After Julie was rushed to this facility, she wasn't actually set up for surgery, but rather a little experiment Weyland had set up at the time. A project to hybridize chestburster embryos during the pre-stages of their development.

Weyland had been impregnating animal test subjects, then performed the hybridization tests on them to see if it would cause an effect on the xenomorphs physical, and characteristic behavior. The project did work, but never on a human test subject, which Dad did do as part of the project. At least none of the embryos survived. Still, the optimist that Daddy was when it came to xenomorphs decided to go ahead with it anyway, and put another human life in the hands of this pointless experiment. Although I will say that if it weren't for this decision I wouldn't be alive, so I do feel grateful for it.

Now here's the interesting part, instead of subsisting off of my embryo the chestbuster fused with it during it's development. Had it not been for Weyland, I would have died from this. But at the same time I was what allowed Mom to stay alive, and what allowed the procedure to become a success. After Weyland did some internal surgery with both embryos, along with splicing a few other human, and xenomorph genes into my makeup, I survived the hybridization process. After my remaining months were over, I was ready to live. However while ,Jul... Mom, was in labor she died giving birth to me.

I feel guilty about it whenever I think about it. I know what you're going to say, but still had I never been born than Mom would not be dead right now. And because of the fact that I am part xenomorph it makes me feel like I'm... Like I am one of them in a way, because through my birth, Mom died. Just like what happens to a host when it's chestburster is ready to live. I hate that feeling. Even though I know I am not to blame, I also feel that deep down, I'm right. It's all because of me that I will never know who Mom was like.

Upon seeing the fruits of his labor, Charles Weyland was quite ecstatic about the results. I don't know how, but if I had to take a guess, I'd say that it was because I was one of his first real successes with the Xenomorph species that he loved me the way he did. I suppose he felt this sense of parental ecstasy, the way a father does when he looks at his child when it's first born, and to a degree I can understand why he felt that way. I was the fruit of his labor. I was alive because of him. I was a newborn child that he allowed to be brought into the world. I was ,in a sense, his daughter. I can only imagine the look on his face when he first saw me.

After signing some legal paperwork I became the proud daughter of Charles Bishop Weyland. He named me Jennifer and treated me like I was the most precious piece of... well... anything there was that he thought was precious to him. He was incredibly protective of me. He never had the marines guard me, and given that I'm part xeno, that's understandable. He always had the combat androids watch over me whenever he left me alone. He always kept me locked away from everyone else except for certain people who he trusted. It was pretty lonely sitting in an enclosure day in day out for the first eight years of my life. My room was more like an enclosure with trees and foliage and a large window for me to look out of; however it was decorated to look more like a bedroom, rather than a cage with foliage in it. And with the only discomfort being that I was lonely a lot of the time, I was as comfortable as a child could be. I had everything.

I turned out to be a prodigy. I learned to talk before I began to walk. I began learning first grade studies at three, when I was seven I was in high school, and by the time I was fourteen I was studying for my degrees in home school college. My dad was really proud of how quickly I learned things that had taken him years to understand when he was my age. I liked learning things, particularly mathematics, xenology, and botany. At seven I could also memorize every species of plant on this planet, along with their scientific names. When I first did this I blew Daddy's mind. I knew at the time he acted out his amusement, but I could tell by the loving look in his eye he was proud of me.

Weyland may have never cared for any other human being besides himself before, but I knew that he loved me. He was that father that always gave his child everything he wanted because they wanted it, and because he had all the money in this world, and so many others, to pay for it. Yeah, I was spoiled brat. Although I was a smart brat. Dad just provided me with books on botany and math, and the occasional entertaining book to read, because those were the things he knew I liked, and he had a very high amount of respect for those who liked to learn things. Daddy wasn't much of a scientist: he was always a business man, but he did like learning about things before he opened up on it.

I was perfectly sheltered from any basic idea of danger, and was well provided for, so I was happy. The only thing I didn't have however was a friend. Like I said, I was pretty lonely and I wanted someone I could just talk to besides those blank-faced combat androids. They're not really social beings, and they're rather intimidating when they just look down at you with that same emotionless stare they always give you. I always hated that. My dad had all the money in the world to pay for whatever I wanted, so when I made my request for a friend he gave something better. He gave me a sister. I say gave, more like he had her made for me. She was an android that I could socialize with as a sister. We named her Beth. I grew up with her and... I just have to say it she's been the best sister anyone could ever have.

Even though Beth's an android I still loved her as my sister. She's not like the combat androids that are just these blank emotionless automaton, but has actual human feelings and emotions. No she's not human, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have a soul. It's also very cool having a sister that has the same interests that you have. That and she'd never age. When we did get older Daddy would transfer her consciousness into a newer, more mature body.

So yeah in short I was the rich kid that got everything she wanted because she had a father who had the whole world in his pocket.

After I was eight I was allowed to travel more freely with Beth around the complex, except for the Colonial Marine's barracks, of course. It was right about that time that I heard about something the marines had. I think that it, or rather he was the primary reason for why Dad was so strict about us going there. Me especially. There was gossip going around the labs that the marines had a Hunter in the compound that they were training as one of their own. Like I said before we didn't know much. I knew about the Xenomorphs, but I never knew we had them in the facility, at least not until I was 12.

When that time came Daddy told me we were using the xenomorphs and changing them to fight other xenos. And I accepted that. I must say that he wasn't all wrong. When I went through some of his notes a couple months after his death I discovered he had some experiments going into that at the time, but it wasn't top priority, and the project was abandoned shortly afterward. Dad's main concern wasn't even on them breaking out. That he could handle, and protect me from. But the Hunter in the Marine's base, that was different. He always seemed so uneasy whenever it was even brought up. It never became a problem though. In fact, when I was nineteen it, or rather he, saved my life.
