Flutter had never considered herself a very expressive person. To most people she was seen as a coldhearted bitch. And honestly he liked it that way. Even before she had settled down in the Johansen kingdom, she liked to maintain an image of danger. She wanted to keep anyone who even thought about crossing her on edge.

But… when it came to her grandchildren, she couldn't help but feel… soft. When she learned about Tor and Sauce's pregnancy, she had planned on treating the kids just like she had her own. But the moment she laid eyes on them, she felt something similar to what she felt when the boys were born. Only this time she wasn't able to slowly push it down over time. Maybe it was because she wasn't really responsible for them. But… she… she wanted to spoil them.

Something about being a grandmother just made you do that apparently.

It pissed her off that the boys could tell despite how well she tried to hide it. She was always willing to look after them when asked. She went along with their interest, even if she usually couldn't give a damn about them. And when she saw one of them looking sad, she asked them what was wrong rather than demanding they tell her.

Just like she was doing with Jez right now. "What's going on sweetie?" she asked.

The little hybrid had wandered into the kitchen with a frown on her face. One that she, as a grandmother, just couldn't ignore. "Nothing…" Jez said looking down.

Flutter wasn't sure if she was trying to be tough, or earn more sympathy. If one of the boys had tried either she would have smacked them upside the head. Instead they knelt down and cupped the girl's chin. "Jez, you know grandma can always tell when something is bothering you. Tell me what's going on."

Jez looked hesitant, but then sighed. "Mommy… she said she was going to go with me to the bake off in the Butterfly kingdom, but now she says she can't anymore."

Flutter's eyes narrowed. She had honestly hadn't felt very strongly one way or the other towards Zafira when she and Gale were… dating was a stretch. Fucking. That was the more accurate way to describe it. But since Jez had arrived, she found herself ground more irritated with the succubus.

When Tor took the throne, more responsibilities had fallen to his brothers. So Gale had found himself out and about more on missions to defend the kingdom and deal with rebels. Still, he tried to do his best to spend time with Jez when he was here, and the girl appreciated it. They would spend hours in the kitchen whipping up dinner for the family, or just sitting around and talking about their day.

Zafira on the other hand… even when she was with her daughter, she was usually on that damned mirror of hers, going over her business. She wished Gale had never given her that money. "Is that right?" she asked.

Jez nodded. "Yeah. She has a business meeting or something. She didn't say much about it. She was in the mirror again," she said pouting.

Flutter hummed. "Jez, I'll tell you what. I'm going to go talk to your mommy, so why don't you stay here and make some cookies with your uncle, okay?"

Tor, who had been digging through the fridge, flinched and hit his head on the top. He turned around and scowled, but then softened when he saw Jez looking at him. He grunted. "Uh… yeah, I got some time I guess. Why don't you show your uncle how not to burn cookies?" He was willing to admit he hadn't been happy about his brother having a baby with some monster. And a whore to boot.

He really hadn't wanted anything to do with the kid. But as much as he hadn't liked it, she was a Johansen. And after a while even he felt bad seeing how lonely the kid would get without her dad around. He would try to send him on as little missions as possible, but it didn't always work out.

...damn it, when did having kids turn him into such a bitch?

Jez smiled up at him, and he reached down and lifted her up onto his shoulder. "C'mon, let's go down to the pantry and get some chocolate. Pretty sure your cousins ate them all earlier," he said making his way out.

Flutter smiled and nodded as they left, then glared.

"Yeah… uh-huh… listen, I don't care whose turf he thinks it is, we bought the rights to that place. So if he has a problem with it tell him I'll come down there and… oh he did?!"

Flutter was hardly surprised to see her on that damned mirror again. You could hardly ever catch her off of it. Running the brothers she had managed to open up on the surface had been a seriously uphill battle, especially with how fierce and cutthroat the competition had been.

It seemed like she was always finding herself forced to step on to take the reins on some new problem or another, and it left little time for Jez. Today however was going to be different, because Flutter said so.

"Get off the phone."

Zafira turned towards her and then held a finger up. "If I have to come down there you better believe-!"

The knife flew by so quickly that Zafira hadn't even realized the mirror wasn't even in her hand until it hit the wall behind her. "I said off the phone…" Flutter said dangerously.

Zafira scoffed. "I was in the middle of an important call there!" she said annoyed.

"Well now you're in the middle of an important conversation about your daughter," Flutter said pointing her knife towards her. "Do you have any idea how upset Jez is right now?"

Zafira raised an eyebrow. "About what?"

"You're about five seconds from a blade in your throat," Flutter warned. "The bake off. You told her you weren't going to make it there."

She sighed. "Look, something came up that day. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to her little bake off, but I have a business to keep alive here. Gale can take her. And if you're so worried about it then why won't you go with-"

Flutter pointed the knife right at her throat, and she flinched. "Oh, I am going. And so is Gale, and so are you. I couldn't give two shits what you have planned, or what came up, you will clear your schedule and go," she ordered.

Zafira frowned. "You can't just expect me to cancel on-"

"This is a very simple choice Zafira. It's life, or death."

She narrowed her eyes. "You are NOT going to kill me over something this petty…"

"I have killed so much more important people for so much less. I once killed a man for tripping up Gus when he was a baby. You think I won't kill you for disappointing Jez?" she asked dangerously. "I literally could make a mountain of bodies out of the people I've killed for petty reasons! So clear your schedule!"

Zafira held her hands up. Flutter. Unusually seemed calm and collected, even when she was threatening someone. But right now she looked pissed. "Fuck, okay. I'll move some things around… shit lady, you're a maniac," she said scowling.

"Yes, I am. And you married into this manic's family. So I suggest being a bit more careful about how you plan out your schedule," she warned.

"Noted…"

"Good news Jez, mommy said she's going to be able to make your bake off," Flutter said smiling down at her granddaughter.

"Yay!" Jez cheered happily.

"Oh thank god…" Tor said, relieved. He was covered in flour, sugar, and bits of cookie dough. He was many things, but someone who knew their way around the kitchen, he was not. Jez had been joking about having him as her assistant, but he hoped to god it was just that. A joke.

Jez held her arms up happily. "I'm gonna go wait for daddy and see if he's coming too!" she cheered. It was rare these days both her parents could make time for one of her events. She ran off, and her uncle looked confused.

"What the hell am I supposed to do with the rest of this?!" he asked, gesturing towards the bowl. Or with the ones in the oven for that matter?

Flutter walked over and grabbed a wooden spoon. "C'mon, I'll help you finish making them. It's long past time you learned how to do something here without setting it on fire," she said as she began mixing the batter.

Tor sighed, knowing there was no point in trying to weasel his way out of this. Royal duties or not, there was no bailing on his mom. "So, how's you get the whore to clear her schedule?" Tor asked.

"I put a knife to her throat."

"Over a bake off ma?"

"Jez was upset…"

"You've gotten soft."

"I'm not so soft that I can't break this wooden spoon over your head…" Tor just smirked down at her, and she scowled back. She was tempted to hit him anyway just to wipe that smug look off of her face, but held back. So what if she was getting a little soft. She was allowed to ease up on her grandkids if she wanted to… "Pass the chips…"

"Sure thing granny soft heart."

"Fuck you."

A/N: Some more future content! Granny Flutter ain't nobody to be messed with. And Tor can still be a jackass, but he's softened up a bit as time went on. He's not very good with kids but with his nieces and nephews he at least tries.
