"So, just what are we looking at here?"
Lacerta sat on top of the tower and looked down at the base across the field. This was supposedly where those malchemist cockroaches had been hiding, and where he and the others were going to snuff them out. He knew it would be an easy task, but despite what his family thought, he never ran into these types of situations blind.
No, he made sure he knew what he was up against before he crushed them with everything that he had. "Well, it looks like they have a bigger force hidden underneath. It's like an ant nest," the rather handsome figure beside him said. He was a tall boy, who looked like he was nineteen. He had brown skin, short blue hair that was neatly styled, and a pair of glasses on his face. "Also, from what I can tell they are preparing for an attack. Probably going after the Jaggy Kingdom."
"Yeah, but I'm not sensing anybody with any notable magical power. It's just another bunch of weaklings," another said. It was a young monstrous looking boy. He had purple skin, a row of sharp teeth, insect like eyes, and small fins where his ears were. His white hair was short and messy, and two insect-like wings on his back.
The last figure nearby looked down towards Lacerta. He was massive and muscular, and stood at least twelve feet tall. He had dark skin, and black dreadlocks tied into a short ponytail. "So, what should we do? Do you want to let your dad know?" he asked.
Lacerta scoffed. "For something like this? You kidding? No way. We're taking care of this ourselves," he said standing up. "And we're not going to pussyfoot around about this either. The whole reason they only managed to rebound like this is because my brother let those worms go."
Dorado and his father were much too soft. They always wanted to give others second chances and spare these scumbags. But not him. He knew if you didn't cut problems like this out root and stem, they'd only grow back. "You all know what to do! Hit hard, hit fast, and no holding back! If they have any trace of Malchemy in them, I want 'em dead!"
He spread his wings and rose up before turning towards the larger one. "Raza! Run them over!" he said. The hulking figure nodded before jumping down from the top of the door. He crashed onto the ground, causing a crater to form under him, then began charging forward.
Lars smiled as he watched Raza speed towards the base. He could have swooped down and just rained fire down on them first, but it would have been rude not show up without knocking. The younger boy smiled as he got ready to charge. "Me next, me next!" he got ready to leap down, but Lars stopped him.
"Cool it Dagon. Let's let Raza get fired up first."
Raza ran with the force of a bullet train, and it didn't take long for the handful of guards surveying the place to notice him. "A-an intruder! Get him!" They pulled out their styluses and pointed it towards him, and suddenly roots shot out from the ground and began trying to entangle Raza.
The goliath wasn't even slowed down by the attacks, and ripped them right out of the ground, continuing his charge. "Run them over…" he muttered. "Just run them over."
"Shit! It's not working! Quick, the Ballistas!"
The ballistas on the top of the base began moving, and taking aim right towards Raza. They fired at him, but when the bolts hit, they bounced right off of him. He began to smile as he approached the gates of the base. "Here we go!" He pulled out a large spiked club from behind his back.
He let out a loud battle cry as he swung, smalling it against the reinforced door and knocking it off its hinges. The guards inside all stood in silence and disbelief at what had just happened. Had a single intruder really just…? Raza looked up, a crazed smile now on his face. "Are you ready to fight?" he asked.
For a few more moments they hesitated, but then a few of them began to move, firing spells and arrows at him. He laughed as he ran towards him, shrugging off the assault.
One of the men watching from the upper levels turned towards his subordinates. "What the hell is this?! How did he get this close without anyone noticing?!" he asked.
"I-I'm not sure! Maybe it was some sort of cloaking magic or-"
"Goliaths can't use such advanced magic!"
"Incubus can."
Both of them whipped their heads around and saw the blue haired boy from early floating before them. "It's the Butterfly! It's Pavo!" one of them said as they reached for their weapons. That explained how the enemy had managed to stay cloaked this close to their base.
Pavo smiled as he raised his hand. "No, no, don't get up on my account. Why don't you go focus on Raza? I'm sure he'll appreciate the attention," he said. The men rushed at him, and he sighed. "Alright then." In an instant, he rushed passed the two, tapping them on the back.
The now lifeless men dropped to the ground as he held up the two souls he'd snatched away from them in his hand. "I guess death by my hands is better than death by his anyway," he said. He looked down at the souls, tempted to eat them then and there. But he was already full right now. "Lucky you." He let them go, watching as they floated… downward. "That's not a good sign."
He moved his head aside as an arrow whizzed by, then looked down at the two arches taking aim at him. "I hate getting my hands messy," he said as he raised his hands towards them.
Suddenly a blur rushed by him, striking the two down in the blink of an eye. Dagon laughed before looking over his shoulder at the Incubus. "Too slow Pavo," he said as a scorpion-like tail whipped out from behind him and slashed down another. "That's three! I'm totally going to win today!"
"It's not a competition Dagon…"
"Said the loser!" he taunted. "Yo Raza! How many you got?!"
The goliath tossed aside the fallen warrior he'd defeated, then smirked towards him. "Twenty something. Lost count…"
"No fair! You had a head start!"
"No excuses Dagon." Everyone stopped and then looked up as Lacerta descended down towards the ground. "Lets make things more interesting though. Whoever gets the lowest kill count today buys lunch."
The enemies around all paled. Was this seriously just a game to them? "Sounds fine by me," Pavo said, raising his hand. Five short sword rose up around him, and with a flick of a finger they shot off towards the enemy.
Raza just kept laughing as he swung his club and smashed into another group, and Dagon growled and rushed forward. "I'm too broke to afford lunch! I gotta win!" he shouted, his two arms suddenly splitting into six.
Lacerta smiled as he pulled out his sword. He was going to show his brother exactly how he should have gotten the job done last time...
"So, you sure that's everything you know."
"Yes. That's every undercover agent I'm aware of..."
"And the other bases?"
"They don't tell the lower ranks about them…"
"No, I guess they wouldn't," Pavo said as he tilted the girl's chin up. She had been the only survivor of their attack, which he thought was pretty lucky. He didn't discriminate on the battlefield, but someone this cute dying would have been a waste. "Is there anything else you know about what they're up to?" he asked, looking deeply into her eyes.
The women in front of him looked like she was in some sort of trance. "There's rumors that there's an attack planned on the Waterfolk kingdom. I don't know the details," she explained. Pavo hummed. He supposed it made sense they didn't let their grunts know too much. He wasn't the only one who had the abilities to manipulate minds.
Lacerta yawned as he sat a few feet away. He would tell his dad about this so they could send word to the Waterfolk and let them deal with it. "If that's all the information she has, then kill her and let's get going," he said.
Pavo hummed. "Don't want to. Killing her would be a total waste," he said cupping her chin. "I'll hand her over to grandfather. I'm sure he could find somewhere for her."
Dagon rolled his eyes. "That guy? Man, you'd be better off killing her now," he said, still sulking over the fact that he'd come in last. "Besides, we shouldn't be keeping any of those losers alive. If they cross the monster kingdom, they have it coming."
Raza hummed. "I don't know," he said scratching his head. "I heard my people used to keep some enemies alive and let them go just to scare others. Tactics and all of that. But they had a lot more gruesome ways of doing it too. Not sure I have the stomach for it," he said frowning.
Lacerta sat up. "Whatever. I could care less where you dump her. Just know if I see her on the battlefield again, she's dead," he warned. His old man wouldn't be so uppity if he knew at least one person was alive anyway. "Let's get moving."
"Do you think King Astro will want us to stick close to the Waterfolk kingdom? You know, make sure it's alright?" Raza asked.
Lacerta snorted. "Yeah right. He'll either let them know and leave it up to Turq, or he'll tell Dorado to stay on it. Dad leaves everything like this up to his golden boys," he said jumping up to his feet. "Not that they ever actually get anything done."
Dagon jumped up and joined him. "Your dad is kind of weird. I mean I get why he's king. He's like the strongest Titan ever, but… I don't know."
"I don't get what he's thinking either. But who cares." Once he was sitting on the throne it wouldn't matter. He would prove he was the right one to be the next king. He would root out every threat to mewni, and make sure his kingdom was safe. Then everybody would have to acknowledge it…
The others followed after him as he began to head off, Pavo motioning for their captive to follow. The three titans had never had to be told to follow him. They'd all started tagging along for different reasons, but during all their time together, they'd all agreed that it was obvious. As far as they were concerned, he was the only one fit to be king.
"You guys ready?"
"Yep."
"Uh-huh."
"You bet King."
"You're still buying lunch Dagon."
"Gods damn it!"
