"It's right this way!"

"Right behind you."

Nia and Jia ran down the halls of the Butterfly castle, Sol gliding behind the two as they went. Today it had just been the two of them. AJ's uncles were visiting, so he was hanging out with his family. So the two girls had decided to head to mewni and spend their day there.

They'd got some sparring in, Nia showed the other girl some of her favorite spots around town, and now the blonde was leading them towards what she said was a special surprise. "So where are we going?" Jia asked.

"Can't spoil the surprise! But we're going to see someone you met before," Nia said excitedly. Jia just nodded and kept following after her. Whatever the princess had in store was bound to be interesting.

She always loved hanging out with the princess. She just seemed to have this honest boundless positive energy that affected everything around her. Not like the kids around where she lived. "Alright, right here!"

Nia stopped before a pair of double doors. She reached up and knocked on it before bouncing up and down excitedly. The door opened, and Jia was surprised to see a rather familiar face. "Well hello there you two," Corona said smiling down at the two warmly. Nia stepped forward and hugged her cousin, who giggled and returned the gesture.

"Corona," Jia said surprised. She had been back to mewni a few times since her first arrival, but she hadn't had the chance to see the older girl again since.

"Well, I wasn't expecting visitors this afternoon. It's nice to see you as always Nia. And it's wonderful to see you too Jia," she said sweetly. Sol chirped loudly. "And you too of course," she said, amused by the creature.

Jia smiled back at her. "It's nice to see you too. I didn't know you lived here."

"Well, I don't quite live here. But I do spend quite a lot of time around this place. All of the captains have offices and personal barracks set up for us," she explained.

Jia looked surprised. "Wait, captain?"

Nia smiled and pointed towards her cousin. "Yep, Corona is the captain of the Fourth division. She specializes in healing, but she's also super strong too!"

Jia hadn't known the girl was a captain. It had never come up in their first meeting she guessed. "I was glad to hear that everything worked out regarding the phoenix and the Jabberwock. So was Morel by the way," she said.

The girl nodded back. "Thank you. I had a lot of help," she said smiling towards Nia.

"I assume you're here for tea time. Lenora is busy visiting her family today, so I'd gladly welcome the company," Corona said as she turned and made her way towards a table in the middle of the room.

Jia looked amazed at the spread. Not only was there tea, but there were trays of cakes, cookies, and other delicious looking desserts. "Corona gets sweets from all the best shops around town for tea time!" Nia said as she bounced over and took a seat. "It's why I didn't take us to any desert places! All the best ones are right here!"

Corona laughed as she took her seat. "I admit, I do have a bit of a sweet tooth. My eyes are bigger than my stomach though, and I don't even come close to finishing everything. Of course Astro and Nia have always been helpful with leftovers," she explained.

Jia smiled as she sat down. "Well, I feel bad for Astro, because he's not getting any today," she said. She gave a thank you towards Corona, before the three began to dig in. Jia wouldn't say she was usually one for things like tea parties, but this was nice.

"Here, try this one!" Nia said holding up a forkful of pie. "My grandma made this one, and she makes the best pies in all of mewni."

Jia looked hesitant for a moment, but Nia moved the fork a bit closer, smiling eagerly. She smiled back before leaning forward and taking a bite. "Wow… this is the best pie I've ever tasted," she said wide eyed.

"I know, right?"

Jia reached down and got a forkful of cake before holding it up towards the princess. "I like this one too though. It's nice and fluffy." Nia didn't even think twice about eating.

She hummed in delight. "So good… If I got to choose how I died, it would definitely be buried in deserts. I mean if you have to go, it might as well be surrounded by sweets, right?" she asked.

Jia shrugged. "I always thought maybe going on in a blaze of glory on the battlefield would be cool, but yeah, deserts would be pretty awesome too," she joked.

The two girls giggled, and Corona watched with interest as they carried on. They seemed far more focused on speaking with one another than with her, but it wasn't as if she minded. Not in the slightest. She was happy for her younger cousin in fact.

Nia had always been very sociable, though had hardly got to spend time with many around her own age. It was nice to see she had such a close friend even on Earth. But, as she watched them she couldn't help but see a hint of something else.

"Nia, you have a little something on your nose," Corona said, gesturing to her own.

The blonde was confused, but then looked down and realized there was a piece of red icing on the tip of her nose. Jia laughed. "You look like Rudolph," she said.

f

Nia tilted her head. "Who?"

"It's an earth thing," Jia said. "I'll show you later."

"There are some napkins over there on the top shelf somewhere. Would you mind grabbing a few since I forgot to set them out," Corona asked.

Nia nodded. "Got it, be right back!" She got up and headed towards the counter, then floated up towards the top shelf and began looking around.

Jia figured that the girl could have just wiped it off her nose and ate it, but maybe it was a princess thing. The blonde didn't seem too big on manners, but her brother was always reminding her about them.

"So, you have an interest in Nia?" Corona suddenly asked.

Jia turned towards Corona with a surprised look on her face. "What?"

Corona smirked towards her. "I was a little girl with a crush once too you know. I would get that same expression on my face whenever I would spend time with Morel," she said amused.

Jia blushed. First her sister, now Corona. Was it that obvious to everyone? She wanted to try and deny it, but… she really wasn't sure it would do any good. Corona definitely had her pegged already. "Don't say anything to Nia…" she muttered.

"I'd never," Corona said giggling. "I just thought it was cute. You two do look pretty adorable together."

Jia hummed. "Yeah well… I think she already likes somebody else. I don't know if you met him, but there's this guy named AJ back on Earth," she explained.

Corona tilted her head. "Hmm, I think I remember her mentioning a boy on earth a few times before," she said.

"Plus it's sort of complicated. We're all friends and stuff, and even though it's fun teasing him I don't want to make a whole bunch of drama and stuff," she said shrugging.

Corona hummed. "I see. It really is quite complicated," she said before taking a sip of her tea. "But I wouldn't be so quick to give up. You're all young. In the springtime of youth. You never know what could happen. And if you three truly are friends, you'll be able to work everything out no matter what happens. And, not to fan the flames, but you do have one advantage over this boy."

Jia looked confused. "What?"

Corona leaned forward and whispered. "You know how a girl your age thinks," she said tapping her forehead. "Believe me, no boy is ever going to be able to figure that out."

Jia giggled as Nia flew back down to the table, setting the napkins down gently. "Okay, I got them. What were you guys talking about?" she asked curiously.

"Boys," Corona said casually.

Nia blew a raspberry. "Boo, no guys. It's desert and girl talk time," she said holding her arms up. "We shall eat cake and talk about our own stuff."

Jia held her own arms up and cheered. "Yeah, just girl time!"

Corona nodded as Nia and Jia both shoved another piece of cake in one another's faces. "Alright then. It's just about us ladies today."

The door suddenly opened, and Astro made his way inside. "Hey Corona, I was just coming by to see if there were any-"

"Get out!"

"It's tea time!"

"No boys allowed today I'm afraid."

Astro held his hands up as a flurry of cookies and cake were hurled at him. "What the hell?! Hey, knock it off! I just came for some leftovers!" He backed back out of the door, looking both confused and annoyed. "You're all crazy!"

The prince made his way out, and Nia and Jia high fived, and Corona made a mental note to put aside a piece of pie for him later… if there was any left. Until then, it was back to enjoying the company of the young princess and the phoenix wielder.

She didn't want to pick sides when it came to delicate matters like love. But she would be lying if she said she wasn't rooting for Jia. She had seen her training with Breeze, and running around with Nia, and had taken a liking to the girl. Plus she was a fighter, and she didn't think it was like her to give up too easily.

It would be sort of fun to see how things played out.

A/N: Commission for Laylaylamode of some Nia and Jia content! They asked for me to do my own thing with it, so I wrote this out, which I consider this some set up for things to come! Keep an eye out for some more Nia/Jia in the future. And probably some Jia/AJ stuff too.
