Chapter 5: First Mission and Captured

It's been a few weeks since the escape and me and the others are having a lot of fun here. We've been getting to know Ma' and some of the other students, I've discover that the boy with ice powers, Robert 'Bobby' Drake, is a total jerk who goes out of his way to get me angry. I have been annoying him in return. Other than that, my siblings and I have also been going to classes that aren't torture, and have taken up hobbies.

I learned that I love art. I could spend days painting, sketching, or just coloring. We're all hanging out in the rec room right now and I'm just finishing a painting of a landscape when I hear Professor Xavier call us to his office mentally. I pack up what I used and we all head over, knocking on his door and being told to enter.

"You wanted to see us, Professor?" Aeolus asks the elder bald man that is quickly becoming like a grandfather to us as soon as we're in front of him.

"Yes. It appears that some members of a group known as the Brotherhood of Mutants are out causing chaos at the local mall. As most everyone is out on their own mission I got in contact with your mother who agreed to let you go on the mission provided that you listen to what you are told to do by the one in charge." he tells us and I smirk a bit; our first mission for the X-Men. I can't wait.

"Who's in charge?" I ask him.

"Bobby has volunteered to lead this mission." he says before the doors open and Bobby enters with Rayne Sinclair, who is Scottish and who has quickly become like a sister to us, Dani Moonstar, Rayne's best friend, and Tabitha Smith, a girl who can explode things, all walk in.

I consider for a minute before turning to Artemis and asking, "Opinion?"

"We need to go on this mission. You're going to meet someone who will become important to you while there." she tells me and I nod.

"Alright, we'll do as we're told." I say before we all go get into our training gear and head to the garage, getting there before the other four that are going on the mission.

"How did you get here before us?" Bobby demands.

"We were raised for the purpose of fighting specific fights. Part of that training included getting ready and to transport quickly." I tell him and we all climb into the car. We are silent as Bobby drives; I only speak once we arrive and see the chaos that's going on, "So what exactly is the plan, Frost Bite?"

"Wolfsbane and Artemis take on Sabretooth. Mirage and Nightshade take on those two by the restaurant. Boom-boom and Aeolus take on the two by the clothes store. Jekyll, Hyde, the three by the vending machines. Apollo get civilians to safety and help the injured. Shock'n'awe...just stay out of the way." he says before rushing into battle against a guy who is manipulating fire.

"Just stay out of the way?" I protest angrily before sighing and heading to sit on a nearby bench. I silently watch the battle and pout a bit for a few minutes before I feel someone sit next to me. I sigh before turning to look at who it is and finding a girl with black hair wearing all red and looking just as bored as I feel about the battle that's going on around us. I study her, trying to decide her threat level.

After watching the battle for a bit she turns to look at me. "Hey kid." she says with a sigh as she looks at my small size. "I'm Scarlet Witch. What are you doing here? You look young."

"I'm Shock'n'awe." I tell her, "I'm here with the X-Men. What are you doing here?"

"I was ordered to come here by my father, but my powers are really dangerous so I was ordered to stay out of the way. What about you?" she asks me in a calm tone.

"Well...this is my first official mission, so I was really hoping I'd get to fight, but Freezer Burn over there fighting Fire Fly doesn't like me much and he's in charge right now. I was also ordered to stay out of the way, which really sucks because I wanted to zap someone." I say while making electricity crackle between my fingertips. I then look around, spotting a small group of bystanders and idly thinking about whether or not I should kill a few of them just for the fun of it. I frown before shaking my head and saying, "No Shock. You can't kill bystanders out of boredom."

Scarlet Witch frowns at me a bit before asking, "Do you often have to talk yourself out of killing people? Because if so I don't think you chose the right team."

"Only a few times a day depending on how annoying Ice Boy is being." I tell her before Bobby comes crashing into the bench next to us.

I watch him get up and look at me, "What are you doing?" he yells at me, "Stop being lazy! Get out there and fight!"

I glare at him before hopping off the bench and saying, "You ordered me to stay out of the fight, Ice Brain!" I turn back to Scarlet Witch, "It was nice to meet you." I look at the battlefield and see a guy in red wearing a kinda dorky helmet on his head floating above the battlefield. "Oh look, its Magneto! He's the one I was designed to kill!" I say happily before turning on my microphone and calling to the X-Men, "Guys, code S!"

My siblings nod before pulling the X-Men from the battle as I take a deep breath and focus on the one that was causing earthquakes earlier, but is currently just hanging out by the vending machines. I smirk before letting out my wings and taking to the sky as I start singing, "You were always quite the loser, Jeremy! Then I invaded, and you upgraded; ba-da-ba-ba, wo-oah, Jeremy, it's true that I found you." I land next to earthquake guy and feel my sway over him take hold, "But look around you! Wo-oah." he looks around and all his friends send me confused looks, "All your peers are just so incomplete, you can't see it but their all in pain!"

"What are you doin' yo!" a small toad-like teenager yells at earthquake guy. "Attack the kid!"

I smirk at the toad boy before having earthquake guy, who I now know as Avalanche, the person Aeolus was supposed to kill, send a small earthquake at him. "Their operating system's obsolete. So let's complete the chains, and get inside those brains! Let's save the Pitiful Children!"

I hear the car I arrived in driving away and think to my siblings, 'Where are you going?'

'We have to go! They're coming!' I hear Aeolus' panicked voice tell me.

'Who?' I ask before seeing a bunch of black vans and SUV's with the lab's logo on the side of it pull up. My eyes go wide before I try to fly out of the mall, only to have weighted net thrown over me as the connection to my siblings fades out, they're too far away. I look around wildly and spot Scarlet Witch looking at me. We make eye contact and I feel a connection between her and another person, expanding that so it covers me as well as I get shoved into the back of the van before my vision goes black after someone hits me in the head with something.

Time Skip; Eight Hours Later

I wake up alone in a white room with my head aching. I immediately shoot up and begin searching for an exit. After a while of finding nothing I sit back on the bed I had been on to wait. I contemplate an escape plan while waiting before hearing the voice of Scarlet Witch in my mind, 'I'm telling you, Pedro, Shock'n'awe did something before those people took her. Avalanche is still trying to go find her.'

'I expanded the twin connection that you and your twin share. By the way, on a scale of one to ten how annoyed would you be if you suddenly de-aged to the age of eight?' I asks them and they go quiet.

'Why?' a boy's voice asks.

'I'm assuming you're Pedro?' I ask calmly

'Yeah, and you're Shock'n'awe, right?' he asks

'Yeah. To answer you question though; it's because that's exactly what will happen if you two don't find me within the next twenty-four hours of me creating the link when it becomes permanent.' I tell them, sending the memories of me creating a twin connection with someone older than me. 'Just bring Avalanche to my relative location and set him loose. He'll lead you directly to me.'

'You've already been gone for eight hours!' Pedro protests.

'Then I suppose you's better find me fast.' I tell him before becoming aware of an odd scent in the room, like strawberries but...fake. 'I'm about to pass out. The people who took me are pumping the room they stuffed me in with knock out gas.'

I hear them protest but don't hear what they say as the world around me fades to black.
