Cayenne sighed as she made her way into her office. It had been a long day, and only half of it had passed so far. Last night she'd been on patrol and ended up tangling with one of the punks from the Youngblood. The little dweeb with the metal arms and the redhead. Both of them had put up quite a fight before they ended up retreating.

Then morning training had been cut short when some villains ended up attacking some bank and she'd been called in to deal with it, and it seemed like on the way back she'd run into like five freaking different things. Some lady getting mugged, a construction worker falling off a scalpel, a cat stuck in a freaking tree. She wondered if some cosmic force or whatever was messing with her or something. Bullshit like this didn't just happen one after another.

Now that she was back, she didn't want to deal with anymore crap for the rest of the day. She was gonna lock the door, hide underneath her desk, and take a nap for the next hour. And god helped anyone who came in here and woke her up.

She walked around her desk and pulled the chair back, and then went wide eyed when she saw a figure already under her desk. "What the hell…?" she asked looking down at the dragon curled up beneath her desk.

It was the one Astro and the other brought back when they took Sear to their stupid mating thing. The red scaled dragon had clearly made herself comfortable. "You've got to be freaking kidding me," she said scowling. "Hey, scales. Get up. You're in my spot."

The dragon opened one of its eyes, looking up at her lazily. She blew out a bit of smoke and then closed her eyes again. "Don't you give me any fucking attitude. I get enough of that with your boyfriend and his dumbass rider. Get out of my spot before I pull a Chase Young and make soup out of you," she threatened.

The dragon looked like she made a sigh, and reluctantly got up. She moved out of her spot, and Cayenne grunted. She wanted to open the door and shoo her out, but she had a feeling the second she did someone else was gonna spot her and drag her into some more bullshit.

"Don't bug me…" she muttered as she made her way under the desk and started getting comfortable. This one didn't go flopping around like Sear all the time, so as long as she piped down and didn't make a mess, she didn't mind if she stayed in the office.

She put her feet up and closed her eyes, getting ready to drift off to sleep, but then suddenly felt something on her stomach. "What the-?" She opened her eyes and saw the dragon was curling up next to her, resting her head on her stomach. Cayenne scowled. "The hell? I told you to get from under… huh…"

She was warm. Her skin felt like it was a heater or something. But not like scolding hot. Just warm enough for Cayenne to feel like she was under a blanket. And her skin felt softer than Sear's. His was all rough and bumpy compared to hers. It actually felt pretty nice. The dragon opened one of her eyes and looked up at her, and Cayenne scoffed and crossed her arms. "Don't give me that look… you can stay there for now. But keep the heat up," she said.

Maybe this one wouldn't be as annoying as the giant damn gecko after all. At the very least she made for a pretty good heater.

Raleigh whistled as he made his way to the rec room. Astro and Micah were out on patrol today, so that meant they wouldn't be hogging the TV to play video games. Which meant if he was quickly he could get his hands on the remote and watch some futbol. When he got to the couch however, he frowned.

Cayenne was sitting on the couch already, and a certain red scaled dragon was laying across her lap, purring as she scratched her head. "Yo, what the hell are you doing here?" Cayenne hardly ever came to the rec room. She was usually either in her office or in the training room with that Stanton kid or the rest of their department.

"Watching MMA dumbass, what does it look like?" she asked.

"Well there's a futbol game on, so-"

"If you think I'm turning the channel to watch a boring ass soccer game, you can kiss my ass Pedrosa. And don't come at me with that 'it's called futbol' shit. This is America, it's called soccer here," she said scowling. "Next time get here quicker if you want to TV so badly."

Raleigh narrowed his eyes, and then looked towards the remote on the arm of the couch. Cayenne was still looking at the TV. He could just snatch it away while she had her guard down. The moment he took a step towards it though, the dragon let out a growl. He looked down towards her surprised.

That thing hadn't even made a noise the entire time she had been here. At least not around him. Now it was cuddled up with Cayenne and growling. What the hell was going on? He reached for the remote again, and she growled once more. Curiously, Raleigh kept pulling his hand back and forth from the remote. The dragon continued to growl each and every time he moved forward.

"The fuck?" He reached down for the remote, and suddenly her tail whipped up and slapped his hand. He pulled it back and winced. "Ah, what the fuck?!" he said glaring at her. "She hit me!"

Cayenne rolled her eyes. "She's not gonna be the only one if you don't fuck off…"

Raleigh was about to say something, but the dragon raised her head and then shot a blast of fire at his feet. Raleigh stumbled back and looked at her in disbelief. "Yo, what the hell man?! She's spitting fire at people now?!"

"She's spitting fire at you, probably because you pissed her off. So I kind of get it," Cayenne said, smirking. Raleigh narrowed his eyes, then shook his head and began to walk off. After he left, Cayenne reached up and patted the dragon on the head. "Good girl," she said in approval.

Astro scratched the side of his head as he looked down at the red scaled dragon. "I guess you're not interested in going on a flight today either huh?" he asked.

She blew out smoke from her nose and kept laying away on the ground lazily. Sear made his way over towards her, leaning down and gently nudging her snout. She nuzzled him back for a moment, then nodded towards Astro, silently telling him to go along with his rider.

Sear frowned. He had been hoping that she would come along for their flight, but she never seemed interested in coming along. Let alone letting anyone ride her.

"Yo Pepper, c'mon."

Astro looked confused. Who in the hell was Pepper?

But before he could ask, the red scaled dragon got up and began making her way past both of them. The two watched as she kept on walking and went right to… Cayenne? The prince and dragon both blinked as Cayenne patted her on the head. "I'm sorry… what the hell is this?" Astro asked.

Cayenne smirked up at him. "What's it look like? We're going for a run. Pepper here does a damn good job making sure nobody slacks off while my department is doing morning training," she said.

"Pepper? I'm sorry, did someone tell you that you got to decide her name?" Astro asked, crossing his arms. "She is Sear's mate, and he's my dragon. So if anyone should come up with her name then it should be me."

"Well you took too damn long, so I did it for you. And she's answering to Pepper now, so unless you got something she likes better, I suggest you get fucking used to it."

Astro scowled. "I don't understand you. You didn't even want her here, now all of a sudden you're going on runs and naming her? You don't actually think you can handle having a dragon do you? The responsibility of having a companion that loyal is-"

"Yeah, I'm not sticking around to be lectured by you. I'm out. I'd flip you the finger, but you know…" She said holding her hands up. "Just use your imagination." Astro was about to say something, but Pepper suddenly swept her tail and knocked his feet from under him. Cayenne laughed as they walked off. "Ha! Good girl!"

Astro laid on the ground, looking up at the ceiling with a blank stare. Sear walked over and nudged his face, checking over him. Normally he would have growled and gone to his rider's aid, but… he wasn't sure what to do when it was his potential mate.

The prince reached up and patted his head. "I'm okay boy…" Astro said, understanding his friend's plight. "But nothing good can come of this…"

A/N: Sear's mate being buddy-buddy with Cayenne. Wonder how this could go wrong?
