High above the oceans, several massive highways were constructed to aid spacecraft and setalite to land at somewhat less dangerous heights. Many nations use skyways and thanks to Sonic and his friends, Eggman was successfully stopped from using the skyways to land and repair his Egg fleet. One of the skyways was simply called "The Emerald Skyway". It was one of the highest and longest skyways ever constructed.
And today, it's the scene of a high speed dash. Sonic and Tails were in pursuit of one of Eggman's latest Badniks. It's name is unknown but one thing was for sure. It was no ordinary Badnik. As the Tornado, Tails aircraft raced over light spacecraft and repair vehicles. Sonic was looking for the perfect spot to jump off and chase the robot on foot. Soon an opening cleared and he leaped off the plane and onto the oddly smooth surface.
As he dodged vehicles and hopped over others he got closer and closer to the Badnik. Suddenly the ground beneath him Began to shake and rumble. Looking up Sonic could see a crudely built space craft. Eggman's face plastered all over. The ship slowly lowered closer and closer to the skyway. It's guns firing on Sonic. Looking back at Tails, whose plane was also being fired on." Tails get out of here!" Sonic yelled trying to get his closest friend away from this dangerous situation.
Nodding his head Tails utters "Good luck!" Before dipping beneath the clouds. Focusing back on the Eggman dropship and the Badnik. As it got ready to jump on, Sonic spinballs forward nocking the Badnik to the ground. As the two tumble forward they slam into the side of a repair vehicle sending it flying with them.
As they skid to a stop they stare at each other." You are going to pay for what you did." Sonic threatened, getting ready to fight." For what? For breaking your friends back? And loving every second of it?" The Badnik Said sadistically.
Enraged Sonic charged towards the Badnik only to get grabbed square in the throat. His speed was enough to push her back, but it wasn't enough to get out of her grasp." If you thought fighting me would be easy. You clearly didn't see what I did to your Tangle friend." The Badnik said before throwing Sonic to the ground. Sonic tries to get up, but he's quickly knocked to the ground again. Eventually he was able to get up and dodge the Badniks' attempts to knock him down. Taking the chance he ran back. Entering a spinball and dashing towards the Badnik." I'm going to enjoy this!" The Badnik said before charging towards Sonic
The two slammed into each other. Throwing punch after punch, kick after kick. While Sonic was holding his own he knew he could keep it up for much longer. The Badnik was stronger than any other one he's ever fought. It was in many ways similar to Metal Sonic. Looking somewhat like an animal yet too metal to be an actual creature. Its large sweeping attacks were easy, but tiring to dodge and even though he was hitting her more than she was hitting him. It seemed to do nothing but mildly inconvenience her.
Soon though, Sonic heard the familiar sound of a propeller struggling not to stall. Tails had returned and just at the right time. He gets one last blow, slamming into the Badnik before preparing to abandon the Skyway onto Tails plane. Looking over the edge he saw the Tornado flying up as quickly as it could. However Sonic had made a big mistake. Letting his guard down. The Badnik soon took control of the situation, grabbing Sonic once again and dangling him over the edge." What's the rush? You didn't even ask for my name." The deranged robot asked, glaring at him with her cold dead eyes.
"Fine! What is your name?" Sonic asked struggling to get out of her grip.
" E200. Or what I prefer to be called. Platinum Daisy."
" Not a very intimidating name."
Dazzie slammed Sonic into the pavement, lifting him up again and once again dangling him over the edge." Say that again." Dazzie urged.
"I'd rather not. Look this has been fun and all, but I think it's time for me to go." Sonic said as smugly as his beaten body could allow him to.
Dazzie oddly nodded." I think so too. Have fun with fall!" She said before dropping him off the edge of the Emerald Skyway. Landing on the wing of the Tornado it zooms upwards towards the Skyway before Suddenly getting ripped in half by Lazer. The entire rear end of the aircraft was atomised leaving Sonic and Tails on the only remaining part of the plane. Burnt and overstressed the engine of Tornado caught fire before stalling.
With no means of propulsion the plane began to plummet down to earth below." Tails! You're okay?" Sonic yelled as loud as he could, fighting against the sound of the wind flying by. Tails didn't respond, he was out cold the g forces of Lazer impact proving too much for the young fox. As the plane continued to dive faster and faster and fire continued to spread further and further, Sonic was starting to run out of options. Thinking fast he grabs Tails and jumps off the plane.
Free falling he sees the remains of the Tornado. It's engine whining to life one last time before combusting into a rageful explosion of molten metal and scorched rebar. Watching the Aircraft explode was a slightly worrying sign considering the situation they were in at the moment. The ocean closes in fast and the wind slowly cuts through his fur. He held Tails close to his chest trying his best to cover his little buddy. Just then Tails woke up. The ocean is just below them and speeds increasing intensely. Tails spins his Tail as quickly as he can.
The two lift up just in time to avoid high speed impact. Worn out Tails falls unconscious again, but it didn't matter. They gently crash into the water below. Sonic panicked a little but was thankfully kept afloat by reawakened Tails." Thanks bro!" Sonic said sincerely." No- no problem." The fix said weakly. Looking up Sonic could see a boat approach, Shadow clearly visible. The boat soon arrived and picked Sonic and Tails.
Shadow proceeded to monologue about something related to how dangerous it was and that they were lucky to get out alive. Sonic didn't really listen. Today was a close call. If Tails didn't pull through at the last second it really could have been the end. Luckily it wasn't, but Tails pushed himself to the limit. If Sonic wanted to take down Eggman his friends needed to rest and he actually planned his next attack.
As he looked at Tails who had once again fallen unconscious. Promising to himself to take the Egg down, after some rest.
