Sparks flew through the air, along with the ringing sound of metal clashing against metal. Anyone passing by would have thought that a battle to the death was taking place if they had witnessed the intensity the two young warriors going at one another with. They would never have guessed this was little more than sparring to them.
Rather intense sparring though.
Turq found himself putting more effort into his usual training, but given that he was up against Scent, that wasn't surprising. The fact the girl was managing to hold back at all was honestly impressive. She had a bad habit of being unable to hold back whenever she was up against him or one of the other Zodiacs.
He skillfully dodged the strikes Scent sent his way with her lance, then spun around and moved in to strike. In a flash, the lance vanished and was replaced with a shield, which she blocked Ocean's kiss with. A sword appeared in her other hand and she swung upwards at him, but he stepped back, narrowing avoiding it.
"A bit sluggish today, are we?" Scent asked, smirking at him.
He grunted as her shield vanished, replacing itself with another place. She spun around gracefully, sending a flurry of strikes that he parried or dodged. He saw an opening and got ready to move in, only for her to spin around and kick her foot out. He reacted quickly, blocking it with the flat of his blade, and was sent sliding back.
The young titan narrowed his eyes as Scent stood with her foot still held up. "You think maybe you can cut down on the chatter and just fight…" he said.
Scent stood back on two feet, one of her swords vanishing. "You're right. Best not to ruin the moment with trivial little words after all," she said before charging at him. The two moved around one another, dodging strikes, parrying blows, and moving far too quickly for the average person to keep up with what was going on.
While Turq had a steely look of seriousness in his eyes, Scent was smiling brightly. She had been waiting for another sparring match with Turq all week, and she planned on savoring every moment of it. Though there were a few among the Zodiacs who could give her a challenge, none did so in the way Turq did.
When they fought, it was as if they were performing a delicate dance. They complimented one another. The chemistry between them was unmistakable. And the rush she felt when they were truly throwing every they had at one another took her breath away. He felt it too, even if he wouldn't admit it.
Scent was not a Titan, but she had been told she was wired like one. She knew deep down they enjoyed the thrill of a decent fight. And there were no fights that she found more fulfilling than her bouts with him.
CLANG!
Turq stumbled back as Ocean's Kiss went spinning through the air. Scent laughed, her sword vanishing as she rushed at him, her fists raised. Turq raised his own hands and blocked and ducked underneath the flurry of punches she sent his way. He winced as he blocked a punch aimed at his head. Someone so petite looking shouldn't have been able to punch this hard.
He growled and then swung back, but she ducked underneath the blow and then rolled forward. As she rolled past him, she kicked her foot out and knocked both his feet from under him. Turq landed on the ground, quickly rolling onto his back and trying to jump back up to his feet, but suddenly felt a weight on his chest.
Scent smiled down as she sat on top of him. "You really do need to work on your hand to hand skills. Your swordsmanship is polished to a ridiculous degree, but it doesn't help much if you lose it," she said bluntly.
Turq sighed. He wasn't bad at hand to hand per se, but next to someone like her who seemed to excel in every aspect of combat... well, he didn't see how he was going to get out of this situation. "I yield…"
Scent hummed. "Do you? How disappointing," she said tilting her head. "Here I was thinking the fun was just getting started. You wouldn't happen to be up for another round now, would you?" she asked.
He raised an eyebrow at her. He had been pretty sure they'd been fighting for a while now. Just how long could she keep on fighting for? "I think I'm gonna call it a day." If they kept going he was pretty sure she wasn't gonna be able to keep from holding back, and that would be a whole different mess. "Mind getting up so I can catch my breath."
"You can catch your breath here, can't you?" she asked, leaning down towards him.
And here it was. Turq had a… complicated relationship with Scent. She was without a doubt a strong warrior. And he couldn't deny she was quite pretty. But underneath that polite demeanor was someone who was… well, he wasn't sure how to describe it. She was just plain off in some ways.
And for whatever reason, by whatever strange standard she judged potential partners, he was at the top of the list. "Yeah, but I'd be a lot more comfortable if you weren't sitting on me," he said annoyed.
She casually rested her elbows on his chest, leaning closer. "Really? Because you seem pretty comfortable already. In fact, I know you are…" Turq turned away from her, feeling his face heat up. He had really been hoping she didn't notice that. "You know, if you needed any help blowing off all that extra energy, then you know that I'm more than happy to help."
Turq raised an eyebrow. "Not even going to try to be subtle about it huh?"
"Subtly is for those unsure of what they want," she said, shrugging her shoulders. "And make no mistake, I'm very well aware of what I want."
"Yeah well… I'm gonna pass."
Scent shrugged once again. "That's fine I suppose. I'm more interested in a bout on the battlefield than another in the sheets," she said. He was about to ask her to get off of him again, but then she spoke up and cut him off. "But, out of sheer curiosity, would you tell me who she is?"
His expressions changed for just a moment. Less than a second. And had it been anyone else he would have been wondering if they had noticed. But Scent always noticed every little detail, so that was out. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"Titans around your age have certain urges, do they not?" she asked, leaning on one hand. "I'm fairly sure between your spars with me and your dealings with rebels on the battlefield, that at least one inch is being scratched. But I know for a fact that there's another that needs to be addressed. I just don't know by whom."
Turq narrowed his eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Liar," she said, amused. "Does your family know? I can't imagine that your father would be happy with you keeping your little admirer a secret from them. He can be quite controlling, can't he?"
As if she was one to talk. "There's nothing to know about."
Scent hummed. "Fine then, you need not say anything. It's not as if I really care who you chose to entertain during your free time. And for her to catch you attention in such a way she must be quite unique," she said casually. She then leaned down, and Turq flinched as she whispered in his ear. "That being said, I'm not wont to give up on my prey so easily."
With that, she finally decided to get up. She stretched her arms as Turq sat up. He looked towards the blonde for a moment before getting up and going to retrieve Ocean's Kiss. "You don't have to worry about me saying anything to anyone. After all, everyone has a secret or two," she said cheekily.
Turq sheathed his sword. It sort of irked him how easily Scent could read others without anyone being able to read her. But, he was pretty sure she wasn't going to say anything. She didn't seem to care much for the drama that went on in the court. Not when it didn't relate to someone's strength or battle prowess anyway.
"Thanks…" he muttered.
"If you want to thank me, finish resting so we can get back to it. I hardly ever find time to spar with you these days, and I intend to make the most of it," she said, taking a seat on a rock nearby. She flashed him a sweet smile, but Turq felt a chill up in his spine. It was so strange how she could have her mother's smile, yet make it come off so different.
When Queen Sauce smiled at you, you felt a warmth behind it. It was genuine. But when Scent did it… well, it was still genuine, but there was something far more sinister than warmth or kindness behind it.
Scent just sat and waited. Had most other girls knew Turq seemed to show some interest in someone, they might have been disappointed. He was quite popular among the females of mewni after all. But she didn't fret over such things. Whoever this girl was was no doubt someone of note if they caught his attention, but she wasn't concerned.
However many moments of pleasure she gave him, there was one urge that she very much doubted she'd be able to handle. She however was more than up to the challenge. There was something that clicked whenever they crossed blades, and she was sure he felt it too.
And she was fairly certain she'd get another chance to settle some of his other urges down in the line too, which was just an added bonus as far as she was concerned.
A/N: Scent and Turq going at it! That girl has her sights set on him, and when she's locked on she doesn't let go that easy!
