As the ship began to plummet towards the earth below, ripping into chunks as the tornado thundered towards it. Flinging around the cockpit was Sonic, looking for any exit. The hatch he came in from was far too small and the constantly spinning room didn't help. Looking towards the window at the front of the ship. It wasn't going to be the cleanest exit, but there wasn't much of an option.
Prepping himself for the inevitable amount of pain it was going to put him through he leaps forward towards the body of glass. Smashing through it he's immediately assaulted by the hellish weather. Heavy rain and Herculean winds mixed with the ear piercing sounds cause overwhelming Sonic's senses. Wiping the rain from his face he could finally see what Eggman was talking about first hand. Trees flying through the air, walls tumbling down, thunder crashing through the sky, it was almost as if the storm was alive and actively trying to harm everyone that was in its wake.
Looking at the ground which was far closer than he was anticipating he looked for the nearest road. Finding one just next to the tumbling ship. Jumping down he lands on the grass covered road and starts his dash to where the transport ships were supposed to be headed. The wind was freezing cold and rain might as well have been icy daggers. He could notice himself slowly losing feeling in his feet and hands. The cold was starting to take hold of him. As he slowly slowed down he started to think of everything that led to be he in this very dire situation. Shaking his head and slowly moving his fingers he continued his sprint. He needed to fix this and the cold, try as it might, wasn't going to change that.
" We're going down! I think!" A pilot on one of the transport ships said as the craft starts to tilt hard." What do you mean you think?" Vector asked to hold onto the co-pilots chair." I can't see anything! This rain is completely blocking my vision and the storms interfering with the radar!" The pilot said trying his best to fight the wind.
Looking behind Vector points to the door."Espio! Tell the Shadow to give the rescued civilians to parachute and to lead them to an emergency exit!" The crocodile yelled at Espio who nodded his head before running out of the room.
Vector looked back towards the cockpit window which was covered in the hellish rain. Every once and a while thunder would flash across the sky, lighting up the ground below it and every time it happened the ship would get closer and closer to the ground." Uh yeah, we are definitely going to crash!" The pilot yelled still trying to keep the ship from being thrown off course by the wind.
Espio arrived at the cargo room where all of the civilians were being held, lighting and thunder crashing down outside. Shadow was looking over them, making sure everyone was okay. Walking up to the hedgehog Espio relayed Vectors words to him.
Nodding his head Shadow quickly walked over to the alarm. Pulling the leaver at the loud, blaring horn went off. As if on queue the side of the ship was ripped to shreds. A rouge lightning bolt had struck the side of the ship. Not only did this strike tilt the ship the opposite way it was also the stress the ship needed to be defeated by the wind, slamming into the transport ship next to it.
No matter how hard Sonic tried the cold never ceased. The more he ran the colder he got, but even if he didn't run, if he just stood still he'd still freeze. His arms were completely numb, void of all feeling and his legs were struggling to keep blood in them. For all he knew the ships could've been long gone, headed for a city that might be safe from the MotherWeather's storms. He held his hope, that there was someone, anyone that would come and help him.
As kept getting slower and slower he heard something. Something that wasn't the whistling wind or thundering crackles of lighting, something metallic. Something that is seemingly powered by a really loud engine, a propeller struggling to withstand the extreme forces of the storm. Looking up as fast as his near frozen head could let him he could see it, an icy red plane flying down its engine screaming as Tails forces it in the direction he wants." Tails!" Sonic yelled his voice luckily still as loud and joyful as always. As the plane moved down to pick Sonic up, the storm was still crackling around them. The sound of a distant boom caught his attention.
Twisting, scraping, burning, the transport ships had smashed into the ground. Luckily it wasn't too hard thanks to the efforts of the pilots, but it was still loud and explosive. The fuel tanks that were located near the engine had combusted and lit the entire rear ablaze. Shadow knew no more than ever to get the civilians out of the ship. The other ship was lucky enough to avoid this fate, but it traded that in and for having the cockpit completely shredded. As both ships dragged across the ground, the sound of twisting metal echoing through both they came to a slow stop.
Shadow was able to get some of the civilians out before the ship stopped, but not many were still standing in Ship, the terror of the situation leaving them in shock. Running up to one of them he grabs them before quickly chucking them out. It wasn't the safest way to get them out, but it was at the very least fast. The spread slowly, but it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. However, thanks to Shadow's quick evacuation method they were able to get everyone out in time. Picking up the last refugees, he could hear the sound of a loud and powerful explosion.
The Last gas tank located in the centre of the cargo bay had combusted lighting the entire Ship ablaze with Shadow and the last civilian still inside. Outside the heroes were left silent.
" Shadow?" Rouge asked, concerned for her friend's life. As the fire continued to blaze and the black hedgehog didn't appear. Holding her breath she waited. there was no way he would die, not like this she thought. Suddenly the hedgehog jumped through the flames and Landed on the ground below, burnt and chard, but still alive.
Rouge let out a sigh of relief before looking around at what the world around them had become.
The freezing rain had been here for awhile now, but she only truly felt it now. The ground below had basically been drowned by the storm and shear density of the droplets had made visibility horrible. This was not a natural storm, she knew that for certain, how it was happening was beyond her, but one thing was clear.
Eggman was behind. How were they going to fix it? It was a completely different problem.
