Even though there are a few options, in the end, there's really only one. Or at least that's what Naomi thinks.
First of all, Chisaki Kai is a terrible option. He'd probably lock her up in some dank room and only feed her when she was needed to heal someone.
Second, anyone else she chose wouldn't be able to stand up to Overhaul, which would mean that eventually he might steamroll over them and either take over their operation or kill them and take her against her will- or just kill her too.
He wants to put the Yakuza on top, someone like that is going to want to monopolize all the 'valuables'. Medical quirks that haven't been taken by hero agencies are going to be a valuable that he wants to grab. Which means, even if she finds another person to protect her, he might just walk through the place, blasting people to pieces and grab her.
Her and anyone else there he might want. She's not arrogant enough to believe that she herself is going to make him move, unless she becomes extremely valuable somehow. But, if she's in a group of other people he wants…
Then she'd have to choose the right group. A group that will eventually… beat him. Which means…
'I didn't want to come back here,' she thinks as she stares at the door to the bar. 'But that quest I got… to heal him. Does the System know things? I didn't even notice the quest until afterwards, but… maybe it knew I wouldn't.'
She brought the gloves with her, but she doesn't really know what to do with them. Sighing deeply, she moves forward and pushes the door open as she passes through.
When she walks in…
"How the hell did you get injured again!?" she asks loudly when she sees Shigaraki sitting at the bar. His arms and legs bandaged to hell and back.
He jolts and turns away at the door opening, and she thinks she can see him removing 'Father' from his face. She ignores that, stepping into the bar and taking an egg out of the little carrying case she brought with her. It's warm enough to keep incubated eggs alive for a while. It's made to keep hot food hot. She brought two eggs, wrapped up in a bunch of tissues and shit.
When she reaches Shigaraki, she turns to Kurogiri on the other side of the bar. "I learned a new healing trick, watch."
He leans forward to peer at the egg as she lifts it up to eye-level and touches her right two first fingers to it. "Absorb," she says.
The egg becomes a ball of golden energy. And then she moves to Shigaraki's side, pressing the orb of energy to the pulse in his throat. "Heal."
Shigaraki shudders as the power fills him, and luckily it only takes a small amount of 'mana' to finish the spell completely. "What the hell was that?"
"Eggs have a lot of life in them," she replies. "Now I just have to find a patron, apparently."
"A patron?" Kurogiri asks.
"Yeah, this sketchy doctor told me that I should find some rich guy to work for, or something," she says. Sitting on the bar stool next to Shigaraki. If she's going to be part of the League, she can't show fear… but she's pretty damn terrified. "But I think rich guys are too easy to beat up. They might be able to hire people with good quirks, but they're also arrogant. Gangs would be better, but they're also… inhumane."
"Indeed," Kurogiri's eyes glint at her. "So what is it that you are looking for?"
"Someone who won't stop coming for me till they find me, when someone takes me," she replies. "Someone who needs my abilities, respects them, and trusts me. Someone I can trust. Maybe someone with whom there's been a basis of trust established in the past."
"Ahhhh," a crackly voice from the TV screen on the other side of the room causes her to jump and shiver.
She knows exactly who it is and wonders if this is a good sign or a bad one.
"So she already knows exactly what sort of place this is," All for One, says. His voice rolling with amusement. "The question is, did you know before you met Tomura?"
There's an itch under her skin and a system message that says, 'blocked a mental attack'.
She'd spent the last week doing every task she could get her hands on and putting all the skill points she got from them, into constitution scores of different kinds. Mental, physical, poison… everything. She's glad she did, now.
"N-no," she makes a show of stuttering and seeming surprised. "I… I figured…"
"And why did you think to come here?" he asks, in a cajoling tone. Another notification about a mental attack.
"I…" she makes a choking noise. "…K…Kurogiri… seems… honorable…" She coughs when she's finished talking, making a good show of having fought off the attack. After all, he might be able to feel that it didn't work. If she can just convince him that it only 'didn't work' a little bit…
"Ahhh. My apologies, but as you might have guessed… I am very protective of Tomura. I don't like allowing clever people like you around him, unless I know their motivations. You want someone to protect you and treat you with dignity, and you thought Kurogiri was a representation of how the rest of his group might behave toward others," he deduces.
She stares at the staticky tv screen with wide eyed fear that she doesn't really have to fake. She'd thought that Tomura or Kurogiri or perhaps both of them, might test her. That Tomura might take her by the throat and ask her what her intentions are… but somehow it's just so much scarier when faced with All for One. Even through a tv.
"My Quirk had an effect, but it would seem you have some mental resistance. The fact that you were able to fight it at all… well. Once you've trained that particular skill, it will be quite useful. But in the end, it is Tomura's decision," he says. "What do you think, Tomura? Take her in and raise her up? Or refuse her?"
Naomi turns to face Shigaraki as he asks, staring into his eyes for only a moment before dropping her gaze and bowing her head in a show of submission.
In the show, Shigaraki always called people 'rude' for showing a lack of Respect. He'd done nothing to earn it yet, but he still wanted it. And people who didn't give it to him, were instantly relegated to 'rude' and dismissed. But he also probably wouldn't like someone too submissive.
So she flicks her eyes back up to catch his, and holds them.
"We need a healer," he says. And leaves it at that, turning away. Walking across the room to the doorway leading to the back. Where his room is, she guesses. Probably so he can put 'Father' back on.
Naomi's a little surprised. She didn't think he'd agree so easily. He was always kind of a brat, despite being in his twenties… so she'd expected questions, pushback… something.
"It would seem you bought more goodwill than you were expecting," All for One's voice echoes across the room. "Be very careful to appreciate what you have been given."
The TV switches off and she turns to Kurogiri. "Who was that!?"
