"So, why are you here?" Amy asked, wrapped in a blanket alongside Cream, Emerl not too far attempting to fix his arm. Silver had gotten them to a mostly safer area. The storm had started to pick up again and it was shaking the house, although Silver said that was somewhat usual at least during this storm." Well, to be honest I'm still in shock about the state place. What happened while I was gone?"
Silver asked, tilting his head before looking out the mid sized window. The rain hits harder and harder with every passing minute.
" I'm honestly not sure myself. All I really remember is that Eggman started attacking our friends." She said gesturing towards Cream. The little rabbit stayed silent. Her eyes slowly flickering as her Chao lies on her lap. Her face drained of its usual joyful light. Amy quickly looked away. She hates seeing one of her closer friends in such a weak and apathetic state. Looking back to Silver she continues." After doing that for a month he eventually moved onto invading Spiral Hill Village. I was part of an offensive to buy Sonic the others some time to save some civilians."
Silver was incredibly interested. He hadn't heard of a conflict this bad since Infinite, he wasn't sure how this connected to the seemingly endless storm." In that attack I was nearly killed. By the time I woke up this storm had already started." She finished, the storm becoming so loud that Silver could barely hear what she said. They sat silent for a few minutes. Eventually the sound of a high pitched wine, only mildly louder than the thundering storm outside. Standing up Silver begins to make coffee for them. It might be less cold than it was outside, but the cold freezing cold in the small motel room they were able to find. It was a couple kilometres out of Central City.
It was abandoned and many of the vehicles had been filled with bullet holes and indents from Wisp-rifles fire. While they hadn't come across any Eggman mercenaries, they still had to be cautious.
" Here." Silver said giving the two of them a cup. Going back to the kitchen he grabbed his own. Taking the time to look at the several cracked and shattered tiles that lined one of the walls, more signs of what was a battleground not too long ago. It was disturbing to him, normally he wouldn't come across these kinds of areas when he'd come back in time. He always knew they existed, but he'd never stuck in one place long enough to pay attention to the battlemarks of the many warzones he'd visited.
" Well, I guess it's time I tell you why I'm here." He said sitting back on the small chair he'd pulled out of the bedroom." Sounds reasonable." Amy replied looking off into the rain drizzled window.
"Well, for a time I thought my time was fine. That I'd finally done the impossible. I was wrong. The world itself was fine, no cold metal floors or lava filled Cities or any of that. No, the problem wasn't noticeable from just looking at the cities. The problem came from the fact that they were empty. Not abandoned like this place, it was like everyone had just vanished." The hedgehog said scratching his head.
" So I went looking around for a month. Looking for anyone, but all of the signs of civilization were basically gone. I think it was 2 days ago when I found a newspaper that answered my questions."
"What did it say?" Amy asked, looking towards Silver.
" It was about an event called The Storm War."
Amy looked back at the window, the world outside lighting up like a Christmas tree from the lighting echoing throughout the sky.
"I mean, we are in a storm. And we're definitely at war with Eggman." Amy thought aloud." Well then I guess I came at the right time." Silver said before walking towards Cream. Lifting the long passed out bunny.
" We can't go out in this weather. We'll have to wait for this thing to calm down first. When it does we'll have to get going. This place is definitely on Eggman's high priority list." Silver planned.
Amy nodded, yawning a little. Making their way to the bedroom the 2 are unaware of what was soon happening right outside. A gathering army of Restoration fighters
Which were making their way towards Central City. Peaking out the window Silver could catch a glimpse of tanks and various other vehicles. With only a few troops walking beside. While he knew communication was down, he could guess the reason so many were attracted by the City. It was the one most well known Cities and having it under one or the others control could theoretically turn the tides of this conflict.
He didn't want to imagine how many had fallen trying to take it so far, and more just kept coming in. He let go of the blinds, he didn't want to think about that, about the number of those who came here looking for safety and finding the opposite. Turning around he finds Amy and Cream sprawled out on the bed. He chuckles to himself. Not necessarily because it was funny, but because of the sheer absurdity of the situation he had brought himself into.
He walks out of the bedroom into the hallway and makes his way out of the room to find himself a mattress and maybe some supplies for the morning. This was going to be a long visit.
