"Stop pulling aggro!"
"You need to deal more damage then."
"I would if the healer was doing their job. I'm at a quarter health here."
"Bad tanks always blame the healer."
"Untrue!"
Dylan frowned as Sagitta giggled as his reaction. The two sat on two sides of the former's room, both having their own television and game systems set up. The two were playing some Final Fantasy XXI, their favorite online MMO. They were currently in the middle of a raid, and seemed to be struggling somewhat.
Sagitta, who was playing a Dragoon, was doing alright. But Dylan, who was tanking for their party as a Gunbreaker, seemed to be having a bit of a harder time of things. "Crud, Sagitta, tell one of the other tanks in the alliance to take over! I don't think my buffs are gonna cool down in time to survive!"
"Just use shirk and switch the aggro to them," Sagitta said.
"I don't have time! I'm gonna die!"
Sagitta sighed. "Alright, hold on. I'll pull and buy you some time." Her character leapt into the air, pulling her lance back and then diving down at the boss they were up against. She activated a few buffs to increase her attack, and then she struck the boss. It turned its attention towards, and she braced herself. "Alright, hurry up and use shirk, then turn your tank stance off."
Dylan looked annoyed as he activated another of his abilities, causing the boss to turn its attention towards another of the tanks before it could go at Sagitta. He then turned his tank stance off, lowering his aggro so the boss wouldn't turn his attention towards him again. "Man, I really wish our healer was doing his job!" he complained.
Sagitta laughed. "It's not totally his fault. I mean you picked Gunbreaker."
Dylan looked over his shoulder at her. "Uh, excuse me? You make it sound like I picked wrong. Gunbreaker's are awesome. It's a gun, and a blade. How can you beat that?"
"Yeah, but you're not a real tank," Sagitta said.
"What?! That is my literal class!"
"Oh please. A Gunbreaker is DPS disguised as a tank."
Dylan raised an eyebrow. "Well, I guess you would know since Dragoon's are pretty much floor tanks so…" He smirked when he saw Sagitta's expression change.
"I am not a floor tank! You're just jealous because Dragoons look the coolest when we're fighting," she said, puffing her cheeks out. The way they leapt all around the stage is what had drawn her to main the Job in the first place. It looked awesome to dance around the boss the way her character could.
"And how many times have you ended up landing in an A.O.E getting killed again?" Dylan asked smugly. When you were a Dragoon it was unavoidable.
Sagitta stuck her tongue out at him. "Well, at least I don't-"
"Boss is coming."
"Oop!"
Sagitta's character once again leapt out of the way right before the boss stomped down on her. One of the other tanks was still in the way, but raised their weapon and managed to push the boss back, sending it stumbling. "How about we talk about how much Dragoons suck later," Dylan said. "For now let's finish this guy."
"Fake tanks say what?"
"What did-? Dang it!"
"Ha! But yeah, let's finish this guy."
Sagitta's character continued leaping through the air, landing on the shoulder of the rather large boss. She brought her lance back and began jabbing at its face. The boss growled and reached up to swat at her, but suddenly an arrow flew through the air and struck it's palm. A bard from one of the other parties continued launching arrows at it, both he and Sagitta bringing down a twofold attack.
Dylan smiled as his character reloaded his gunblade. "Get ready to jump!" He and one of the other tanks, a warrior, rushed at the boss' feet. They both went for the right one, Dylan using his gunblade, and the warrior using his axe. Sagitta jumped right before they knocked their foot from under it, causing it to stumble back.
It looked like it was going to fall, but stomped it's other foot down and tried to right itself back up. "Crap! Knock it down!" Dylan shouted.
"Not ready yet…" Sagitta said, her character still moving higher into the air.
The boss roared and was about to stand back upright, but another player jumped up after it. The Monk began letting loose a series of punches, right to its face. "Monk's holding him down, are you ready yet?" Dylan asked.
"Do a little more damage, I almost got the limit break and it'll do a bunch of damage from up here," she said. Her character was on the ceiling, an aura of either surrounding her whole body.
Dylan nodded and then had his character rush forward, running up the boss' leg and going to join the monk. The boss raised one of its hands and tried to punch the monk away, but Dylan's character knocked it's fist back. "Best tanks barrage!" he shouted as he popped all of his buffs.
His character was glowing as he stuck the boss repeatedly, knocking him further and further off balance. "Saying best tank before an attack doesn't make you best tank…"
"Are you ready yet?!"
"Yep! Time for a dragon dive!"
Her character kicked off the ceiling, thrusting her lance forward and the aether around her took the form of a dragon. She picked up even more speed, and then stabbed right through the boss' chest, leaving a hole behind. "Ha! Got him!" Dylan yelled. "Nice!"
The two of them and the other players from the other parties used their limit break as well, taking advantage of the opening. A black mage summoned a gigantic meteor from the sky, while a ninja summoned a number of large blades that slashed down at him. When the dust cleared, they saw what was left of the boss began to turn to dust.
"Oh yeah! Done and done!" Dylan cheered, soaking in the sound of the little theme song that played at the end of each dungeon.
Sagitta turned around and then high fived him. "Nice job! Now that was a proper wombo combo!" she said.
"Hey, I'm glad you two worked out your beef, because you guys totally sucked earlier," a voice said over the mic. Both of them looked confused, realizing that it was the healer from their party. "I mean you guys were seriously dragging us down."
"What?!" Dylan shouted.
"Excuse me!" Sagitta said.
"Between the tank barely keeping himself alive, and you almost jumping into A.O.E I thought our party was gonna get wiped. Learn the mechanics."
Sagitta narrowed her eyes. "Are you kidding me! You were barely putting up any shields for us and we almost died like a dozen times from no healing!"
"Hey, don't blame me because you guys decided to main a fake tank and floor tank."
Dylan shot up from his chair. "Oh, it's like that huh?! Well why don't you meet us in a PVP area and we can square up then?!" he challenged.
"I'm not wasting my time on you guys…"
"Yeah, that's what I thought! You coward," Sagitta said. "All talk! That's all you are!"
As they continued shouting back and forth at the other player of the mic, Dai Tai walked past the room. She stopped for a moment and looked at her youngest child and his house guests as they moved around and shouted angrily. "Nope, that's about normal..."
She turned and kept on walking, letting them carry on with their gaming night.
A/N: Commission for Laylaylamode of Dylan and Sagitta having a gamer night! At first I was going to have it be a fighting game but since I usually do that and I've been really into FFXIV lately I figured I would go with an MMO route lol. Hope you guys enjoyed!
