That evening Evelyn, Don and Amanda walked on to the OB floor at Seattle Grace.
"Can I hold the baby," Amanda asked.
Evelyn turned to the teen, "we know you are excited. Teddy is exhausted and probably sore. Wait for them to offer you a chance to hold Allison."
"She's my niece," Amanda said.
"She is," Evelyn smiled.
"I'm the only one of my friends with one of those," Amanda said.
"Well your big brother is a lot older," Don said.
"Dad, will you hold the baby," Amanda asked.
"I will," Don said, "if they want me to."
They knocked and Owen let them into the room.
"Come meet her," Owen said.
Amanda ran to Teddy and the baby, "she's pretty."
"After mom you can see her," Owen promised.
"Teddy May I," Evelyn asked.
"Yes," Teddy smiled, letting Evelyn pick up her granddaughter.
"Hello gorgeous I'm grandma," Evelyn cooed, "she's perfect you two. Teddy, are you sure you're okay?"
"She's here and we're both good," Teddy replied.
"At home though," Evelyn said.
"Good thing we're both doctors," Teddy said, "I'm still
I'm in shock."
"We brought a few things for you," Don said, passing the gift bags to Teddy.
"Thank you," Owen replied, "it's too much."
"It's her birthday," Amanda argued.
"It is," Teddy agreed.
"You make a big deal out of mine," Amanda replied.
"It's a special day for you," Owen said.
They chatted more about the baby before Owen asked, "kiddo do you want to hold your niece?"
"Yes," Amanda squealed.
"Come sit with me," Teddy directed.
Amanda sat where she was told and Don placed the baby in the teens arms.
"She's so little," Amanda said.
"She is," Don agreed, "you were the same size once."
"Never," Amanda said.
"You were smaller at birth," Dan said, "what do you think Manda?"
"She's pretty special," Amanda smiled at the baby.
"Are you sure you're okay Teddy," Evelyn asked.
"Exhausted but she's here," Teddy said.
"I'll go by your house tomorrow and make sure everything is clean before you get home," Evelyn promised.
"Mom you don't have to," Owen argued.
"I want to," Evelyn said, "you can't bring Allison home to a mess."
"Mom we're talking towels with bodily fluids," Owen said.
"I'll wear gloves," Evelyn replied, "you two don't worry about the mess I'll get it cleaned up."
"Evelyn I'll do it when we get home," Teddy tried.
"No Teddy let us take care of you," Evelyn said.
Carly appeared at the door, "Teddy?"
"Hi," Teddy gave a tired smile.
"We'll go," Evelyn said, "call if you need anything."
"We will," Owen agreed.
Carly and Josh came in with baby Cienna.
"Teddy she's gorgeous," Cay cooed at Allison.
"That was your parents and little sister," Josh asked Owen.
"Step dad and step sister. Manda is 15," Owen replied.
Carly sat of the edge of Teddy's bed, "you okay?"
"Yes," Teddy said, "sore and exhausted."
"How long," Carly asked.
"I'm a doctor and I didn't realize I was actually in labor. Then by the time we decided to go to the hospital it was too late," Teddy said.
"So you had her at home," Carly asked.
"Yes. Thank god dr Deluca lives across the street and came over. But she was a home birth," Teddy said.
"So no medication," Carly asked.
"Nothing which is what I wanted," Teddy replied.
Carly asked , "what do you want now?"
"Sleep and when we get home I'm sending Owen for a bottle of red," Teddy laughed, "I want a glass."
"Our first bight home I had one," Carly replied.
"We're not big drinkers, it's only been on leaves for the last few years but when you know you can't have it," Teddy replied.
"You're okay," Carly asked, "not traumatized by that?"
"Compared to what we've seen," Teddy replied, "he almost delivered her. Carly we're surgeona that doesn't bug either of us. Seriously when I get home I want a real shower and my own bed."
"Your boyfriend," Carly said.
"Fiancé," Teddy corrected.
Christina ran in, "Dr Hunt massive trauma multiple victims. Bus crash."
"Dr Yang I am off," Owen said, "the chief has it."
"He's not here," Chrsitna said.
"Dr Yang go," Owen said, "I'm off for 3 weeks."
"But you're here," Chrisitina argued.
"Dr Yang this is my fiance Major Teddy Altman, sorry Dr Teddy Altman, still adjusting to using our civilian titles and our daughter Allison Hunt-Altman," Owen said, "our daughter was born this afternoon. I am needed with my family."
"Dr Hunt, Dr Shepard told me to call you," Christina said.
"Tell Shepard my fiance gave birth to our daughter 6 hours ago," Owen snapped, "and get out."
"Owen," Teddy said, "if you're needed."
"No Teddy," Owen said, "you and Allison need me more. I already spent 4 extra months in the sand pit."
Christina stormed out. She thought the trauma surgeon was attractive and his courage and intelligence made her want to get to know him. She hadn't believed that he was engaged much less that he had a child on the way. But the blonde woman was pretty and it sound like she had been in the army. Dr. Hunt had mentioned that his fiance was coming to run cardio after her maternity leave. The blonde in the bed cradling the baby was Christina's new teacher.
"Are you two ever off," Josh asked.
"We are right now but I work here and Dr. Yang is one of my residents," Owen said, "cardio focused. A bit too intense and single minded but a good surgeon."
"That's my student," TEddy asked.
"That is," Owen said, "one of. You also get Harper Avery's grandson Jackson."
"No pressure," Teddy said.
"How long are you off," Carly asked.
"End of October or early November," Teddy replied, "my last contract ended and the hospital closed so there was no maternity leave for me. We're fine. I just want to spend time with my daughter and fiance."
"She's gorgeous," Carly said, "Teddy we have to introduce the girls."
"Bring Cienna closer," Teddy said.
Carly held her daughter close to Allison.
"Allison this is your cousin Ciena," Teddy said, "she's only about a month older than you. You'll get to play together lots."
