Prologue
Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: humans and monsters. These two races, though different in many ways, shared at least one similarity. Either could be Soulbound.
One day-
They all disappeared without a trace! =)
Many years later…
OoOoOoOoOoO
Papyrus jumped beside him with a "NYEH" of surprise. Crackling echoed throughout the space as a golden glitter vanished on its way down. Sans stared at it with a half-lidded gaze. He appeared unaffected by the explosions in the sky as his friends stirred uneasily around him. Truth be told, his soul did suffer a little jolt of anxiety with each boom, but the reaction didn't find its way past his foggy curtain.
It was a great show. It really was.
He leaned back, watching as a new colorful display filled the horizon. Everyone welcomed the fantastic light show with the appropriate amount of awe. Greens and blues and bright shades of red formed a number of shapes to admire, even if only for a fleeting moment. After a short pause, the final segment of the show would begin.
There had been no fireworks show for their first New Year's Eve on the surface. Weather had prevented it. He recalled that night well, he and his brother both unable to sleep because of the storm. They'd survived it by playing board games with flashlight assistance, each of them unwilling to admit just how nervous they had been. He remembered feeling particularly silly to discover that Frisk had viewed the event so casually. Why did that night feel so long ago?
Today had been wonderful, and this a spectacular end.
There were things he tried not to think about. Neither he nor his brother could account for a large portion of their lives. Especially when it came to their earlier years, they would often find a blank space where a memory belonged. They had learned not to question it for the most part. They'd lost time; for them it was nothing new. Except that this time, something_changed. Something was different about the latest incident.
Papyrus had been annoyed with him, seeking revenge of some kind. Then, kitchen. When had he entered the kitchen? Why was there a broken plate on the floor along with a burnt piece of toast? The other had been on a plate on the counter. There must have been someone there with him that time, someone he'd trusted, someone who'd disappeared. He wanted answers, especially for this particular occurrence. They'd lost months for the first time in years, and this time, it wasn't just he and Papyrus. His soul pulsed with a furious curiosity. He didn't even notice the lights. Sans made up his mind that he would solve this myst-
Everything was normal. Everything was completely fine.
Really.
