I hope you enjoy Part Two!

Part Two: Marks.

Jordan trudged up the stairs towards his bedroom. All he wanted to do was lay flat on his bed and scream into his pillow.

It had not been a good day at school. How could it be? His twin wasn't allowed to go to school anymore because he got caught taking those stupid space drugs. Now everyone was giving him weird looks too. Like they thought he would also be some sort of drug user.

And of course, there was this weird tension around the house because Jon wouldn't tell Mom and Dad where he had gotten the drugs. It was suffocating. He was just waiting for someone to snap. At this point, he thought it might be him…

It was quiet in the house, which it had been for the past couple of days. Well, except for when his parents would try to get the truth out of Jon… That tended to get pretty loud sometimes.

Jordan pushed the thought into the back of his mind. It was stressing him out, and his day had been stressful enough.

He opened the door to his room.

As soon as he looked into it though, he froze.

Jon was sitting on his bed and reading, which was normal at this point, but that was where the normalcy ended. Jon had definitely been crying and his arm had angry red marks on it.

Jordan's stomach twisted. "Jon?"

Jon looked up at him, then back down at his book. "Leave me alone…"

Jordan dropped his backpack on the floor and walked over to Jon's bed. He sat down on it beside his twin.

"What happened?" He asked. He could feel a little bit of panic bubbling in his chest. His brother had gotten hurt.

Jordan watched as Jon pretended to read his book, but he wasn't going to let it go.

"Jon, how did you get those marks?" He asked. Maybe this time, he would get some sort of answer.

Jon swallowed, then shut his book. "I said leave me alone," he said, but his voice wobbled. He stood up to leave the room.

"Jon," Jordan called, then grabbed Jon's arm around the wrist.

Jon spun around. "Don't touch me!" He shouted.

Jordan drew his hand back. "I'm sorry," he apologized.

Jon ran a hand through his hair and inhaled a shaky breath. "No…" He said. "I shouldn't have blown up at you like that. Sorry."

Jordan stayed quiet for a second and so did Jon. His heart was beating a mile a minute. It had been a really long time since Jon had blown up at him.

The two of them stood in silence for a second, then Jon spoke.

"He was so angry…" He said. He wrapped his hand around the bruises on his left arm.

Jordan's eyes widened. Someone had hurt him. But how was that even possible? He had been home alone all day!

No. He hadn't been alone. Someone had been with him.

Their Dad.

Jordan's mouth felt drier than the desert as his brain worked through the realization. Their Dad had hurt Jon.

No… That wasn't possible.

He would never do that. He had never done anything like that to either of them.

"Dad?" Jordan asked. "Dad did that to you?"

Jon winced, then looked down at the ground. "What does it matter?"

"Jon…" Jordan said as he stood up and walked over to his twin. This time though, he didn't touch him. He didn't want Jon to blow up at him again.

"What happened with Dad?" He asked.

Jon began to pace. He cradled his right arm as he did. "I was doing some chores that he told me to do, then I kinda hurt my arm," he said. "He tried to get me to stop working, but when I wouldn't…"

"So he hurt you?" Jordan asked. He could feel something bubbling up inside of him. It was hot, and angry. His dad had hurt his brother.

"He grabbed my arm," he said. "But it's whatever…"

Jordan frowned. This was so not a whatever situation. "He hurt you, Jon," he said. "Have you two talked since it happened?"

Jon shook his head. "It doesn't matter," he said.

Jordan scoffed. "It totally matters, Jon," he said. If their Dad had hurt Jon, then it wasn't something that they should just brush off.

"Look, I was being disobedient and he grabbed me," Jon said. "I know that Dad never punished us like that, but I deserved it. First drugs and then I hurt myself doing chores…"

Jordan stayed quiet for a second as he tried to figure out what to say. He could tell that Jon was trying to sound strong and like he didn't care, but Jordan knew him better than that. He also knew that trying to fight Jon's points would only make him more upset.

"I don't get it," Jon whispered.

"What?" Jordan asked.

Jon looked down at his hands. "Why he tried to stop me," he said. "He gave me that job and I should have finished it."

"Jon, that job was hurting you," Jordan said. "He probably didn't want you to hurt your arm even more."

Jon shook his head. "Then why did he hurt me?" He asked. "And if he really cares about me, then why has he been so cold? Even before the drugs…"

"C'mere," Jordan said as he pulled his brother into a hug.

Jon melted into the hug, and after a second, Jordan could hear him crying. His chest ached as he felt his twin's tears soak through his shirt.

"I just want him to love me…" Jon said between sobs.

Jordan tightened his hold on Jon til he was at the end of what would be considered human strength, but it still wasn't enough. He hated the fact that he had all of these powers, but he still couldn't make his brother feel better.

"He does love you," Jordan said.

Jon shook his head. "No…" He whispered. "He doesn't."

Jordan stayed quiet, letting the words hang in the air. He knew there was nothing he could say that would make Jon change his mind, it was part of that Lane stubbornness apparently.

Finally, his brain landed on something he could do. He needed to talk to their Dad. Things were rough between their Dad and Jon, but not between the two of them. In fact, their relationship was pretty much at an all time high.

The more he thought about it, the more he knew it was what he needed to do. He couldn't let Jon continue thinking that their Dad hated him, but he also needed to figure out what was going on with their Dad. He needed answers. Why had their Dad hurt Jon? Especially after preaching control to him for so long?

Normally Jon was the one who played mediator or solved the problems between the family members, but this time it was Jordan's turn. He would fix this.

He had to.
