Everyone was anxiously waiting for the last duel to begin. It has been one amazing duel after another today with possibly the most exciting one finishing this tournament off. A lot of people have wanted to see these two duel each other since the crushing defeat they served the Paradox Brothers.
The crowd were cheering harder than they had all day. Their cheers were split down the middle in terms of who they were rooting for in this duel.
"Go Erina!"
"Show 'em what Slifers are made of, Jaden!"
"Crush that Slifer!"
"Jaden, we're rooting for you!"
"I gotta say, today has been an amazing day for dueling!" Syrus smiled. "This tournament has been more exciting than I could've imagined!"
"Yeah, and since it's Jaden and Erina dueling at the finals, it's gonna be an awesome match!" Chumley added, the excitement noticeable in his voice.
"Indeed." Bastion nodded. "I've been curious about this match up for a long time now. They've both proven to be the best of us, but now we'll see who's better between the two."
"Yeah, but who do we root for?" Syrus asked, feeling conflicted about this. He'd feel bad if he chose a side.
"How about both?" Alexis suggested. "They're both our friends, so it wouldn't be fair to pick sides. Let's just cheer for both of them and enjoy the amazing duel they'll give us."
"Well said, Alexis." Zane suddenly said as he sat down next to Syrus.
"Zane?" Syrus squeaked, startled by his brother. "W-what are you doing here?"
"The view's better from here." He answered simply as he turned his attention towards the arena.
While Syrus believed him, Alexis knew better. She has spent enough time around Zane to recognize that slight awkwardness in his voice when he didn't know how to properly respond. 'So, you want to spend time with your little brother, huh, Zane?' She thought with a small smile on her face.
"Alright, duelists!" Crowler boomed over the microphone. "Are you ready for the grand finale of our Duel Off Tournament?!" He asked and the crowd's cheers intensified.
Erina and Jaden were already up on the platform, still staring each other down even from far away, both sporting confident smirks on their faces.
"Jaden/Erina!" The crowd cheered simultaneously, some even waved banners and signs around with great enthusiasm.
A vein popped up on Alexis' forehead as she tried her best to suppress the jealousy she was feeling when she noticed that a bunch of girls were holding up signs with hearts around Jaden's name on them.
She was doing a good job at hiding it… until she heard them trying to gain his attention by saying some rather inappropriate things to say in public. So, her jealousy slipped through, causing the blonde to give off a bone-chilling aura that made her friends both uncomfortable and confused due to not knowing what was happening.
Crowler held the microphone up and was about to begin the introductions when Chancellor Sheppard suddenly stopped him. "Crowler, a word before you begin?"
"Yes, sir?" He spun around to face him.
"Make sure to give Jaden a proper introduction this time. Understood?" Sheppard said.
"But of course, Chancellor." Crowler forced out as he turned back around. "Now… from our Obelisk Blue Dorm! Erina Kaiba!" He excitedly announced as the crowd cheered for her.
Crowler waited a moment for them to die down a bit before continuing. "And… from Slifer … Jaden… Yuki." He almost gagged when he said his name, still devoid of enthusiasm. "Duelists, come shuffle your opponent's deck."
'Guess that's as good as I'm getting.' Jaden chuckled as he walked to the middle.
Both of them were still staring each other down, not uttering a word as they shuffled each other's decks. They conveyed all they needed to say just from the looks in their eyes as they swapped decks and went back to their spots.
"Man, just their staredown is intense." Chumley commended.
"Yeah, and imagine what it's gonna be like when they start dueling." Syrus agreed.
"Now, let the final match… begin!" Crowler announced as he jumped off the stage.
"Let's duel!" Both players shouted as their Duel Disks sparked to life and drew their opening hands.
Jaden: 4000
Erina: 4000
"I'll start us off!" Jaden drew his card. "I summon Elemental HERO Avian in defense mode!" The feathered HERO appeared on the field. (ATK: 1000/ DEF: 1000) "And I'll throw down a facedown and pass it to you." He said as a card appeared in front of his feet.
"That's all he's gonna do?" Syrus asked in surprise, not expecting something as simple as that from Jaden.
"He's letting Erina make the first move, Syrus." Zane said. "Jaden might know what she runs in her deck, but he doesn't know how good of a hand she drew, so he's not committing to a play until he sees what she has." He explained.
"Very insightful of you." Alexis teased.
"I'm just making an observation…" Zane mumbled and went back to the duel, not giving Alexis a chance to continue whatever she was trying to do.
"That's it?" Erina asked in an offended tone. "If you're doing it to mock me, I'll make you regret it!" Erina promised as she drew her card. "I activate the Ritual Spell, Chaos Form!" She said as the sky above the arena began to crack like glass.
"Oh boy…" A bead of sweat rolled down Jaden's forehead.
"I offer the Level eight Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand as Tribute to Ritual Summon! Come forth, Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon!" Her voice boomed as a pillar of energy shot up towards the crack in the sky, completely shattering it and opening the gateway between dimensions. As soon as it opened the giant dragon dropped down, landing behind Erina and unleashing a devastating roar. (ATK: 4000/ DEF: 0)
"That's her opening move?" Alexis aws stunned.
"That's one of her best monsters!" Syrus gasped.
"Yes, it is." Bastion nodded. "Chaos MAX cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects, so the only way for Jaden to take it down is if he somehow manages to get over 4000 attack points."
"Chaos MAX Dragon, destroy him! Chaos Burst Rain!" The dragon unleashed a burst of dark blue energy from its mouth as rays of energy shot out from its body, all aimed at Avian. "Chaos MAX deals double piercing damage, Jaden! So, if you don't have something to protect yourself, you're done for!"
"Heh, you know I do." Jaden smiled confidently. "I activate Draining Shield!" The Trap Card flipped over as a protective bubble surrounded both him and Avian. "This negates your attack and I gain Life Points equal to Chaos MAX's attack points!" The numerous rays of energy hit the bubble, absorbing them before it shrunk into Jaden and raised his Life Points.
Jaden: 8000
"Whoa! Jaden just doubled his Life Points!" Chumley gasped.
"Of course it's that one." Erina smirked, knowing it wouldn't be that easy.
"I thought I might need the extra life, you know?" Jaden grinned playfully.
'Let's see… can't be destroyed or targeted. That means he has only one option right now.' Erina thought as she took a card from her hand and inserted it. "I end my turn with this facedown."
"My turn!" Jaden drew his card and smirked. "I activate Polymerization! I'll be fusing Avian with Wildheart from my hand to summon, Elemental HERO Great Tornado!" The two HEROES were sucked into the vortex.
'Just as I thought.' Erina smiled slightly.
A strong gust of wind hit the field as Jaden's HERO landed next to him. (ATK: 2800/ DEF: 2200)
"And when he hits the field, Chaos MAX Dragon's attack and defense get cut in half!" Jaden explained as Great Tornado threw a ball made out of wind at the dragon. (ATK: 4000-2000)
"Or he could lower its attack." Zane smirked.
"Go, Great Tornado, attack Chaos MAX! Supercell!" The wind HERO began to make spinning motions with his hands and a giant, spinning storm cloud formed above the dragon. He then brought his hands down and a tornado began to descend on the dragon.
"Sorry, but I'm not letting that happen!" Erina said as she revealed her Trap Card. "You know what Draining Shield does, right?" She smirked as a protective bubble appeared over her field right before the tornado hit Chaos MAX.
Erina: 6800
"They had the same Trap Card in their hands?" Alexis mused.
"What are the chances?" Syrus chuckled.
"Figures." Jaden smiled as he inserted a card into his Disk. "I throw down a facedown and end my turn!"
"I draw!" Erina drew her card and smirked. "Just what I need." She slipped the card into her Disk. "I activate Foolish Burial! With this I send Darkflare Dragon to my Graveyard!" She sent the card before taking another one from her hand.
"Now, I banish Darkflare Dragon and Felgrand from my Graveyard to summon Chaos Sorcerer!" A light shone on the field and the black robed magician appeared on Erina's field. (ATK: 2300/ DEF: 2000)
"I activate the effect of Chaos Sorcerer!" The bluenette said. "Banish his Great Tornado!" The magician cackled madly as he formed a ball of yellow and purple energy, and threw it at the HERO. The ball hit him and Great Tornado disappeared.
"And now you're wide open! Chaos MAX Dragon, attack Jaden directly! Chaos Burst Rain!" Erina ordered and the dragon unleashed another barrage on Jaden, this time hitting him.
Jaden: 6000
"Since Chaos Sorcerer can't attack the turn he uses his effect, that's all for now."
Jaden wiped his brow before drawing his card. 'That's something…' He thought excitedly when he saw the card and played it. "I summon Elemental HERO Solid Soldier!" The silver armored HERO appeared on the field. (ATK: 1300/ DEF: 1100)
"When Solid Soldier is Normal Summoned, I get to Special Summon Elemental HERO Shadow Mist from my hand!" The dark HERO appeared on the field. (ATK: 1000/ DEF: 1500) "And when she's Special Summoned, I get to add Mask Change from my deck to my hand!" The card popped out of Jaden's deck and he took it.
"Jaden has Mask Change now!" Chumley cheered excitedly.
"Now things are about to get really interesting!" Alexis smiled; the excitement was getting contagious now.
"I'm going all out, Erina, so get ready!" Jaden said, causing the bluenette to smirk and give him a nod. "I play Mask Change!" He inserted the card and a black helmet appeared in Shadow Mist's hands. She put it over her head and was engulfed in a purple flame, beginning the transformation.
"Transform, Masked HERO Anki!" The flames died down, revealing a man in a dark suit that was a cross between a demon and a jungle cat; the suit also had sharp claws and talons on its hands and feet. (ATK: 2800/ DEF: 1200)
"That's a new one." Bastion noted.
"Yeah, and I wonder what effects it has?" Syrus asked.
"Your Chaos Sorcerer is the first one to go down!" Jaden pointed at him. "Anki, pounce 'em!" The HERO leapt forward like a panther, slicing the sorcerer with his claws and destroying him.
Erina: 6300
"Anki's effect activates when he destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard!" Jaden said. "I get to add one "Change" Quick-Play Spell from my deck to my hand!" He explained as he added another Mask Change to his hand.
"And I'll be playing it as well!" Another helmet appeared in Solid Soldier's hands and he put it on his head. "Appear, Masked HERO Dian!" The female Masked HERO appeared on the field, shining brilliantly as she brandished her rapier. (ATK: 2800/ DEF: 3000)
"And when Solid Soldier is sent to the Graveyard by a Spell effect, I get to Special Summon one HERO from my Graveyard in defense mode!" Jaden explained as Shadow Mist reappeared. (ATK: 1000/ DEF: 1500)
"Alright, Dian, take down Blue-Eyes!" Jaden pointed at the monster as she jumped forward and pulled back her rapier. She delivered three swift strikes against the dragon's chest before it exploded.
Erina: 5500
"And you remember what Dian does, right?" Jaden asked with a smirk as his HERO held up her sword and it began to glow. "I get to Special Summon a Level four HERO from my deck! Join the fight, Elemental HERO Stratos!" The wind HERO appeared on the field. (ATK: 1800/ DEF: 300)
"Amazing!" Bastion exclaimed in awe. "He summoned four monsters just like that!"
"Guess Jaden meant it when he said he's going all out, huh?" Alexis smiled.
"Yeah, he sure isn't holding back against her." Syrus commented, causing his brother's eyes to narrow slightly.
"And thanks to Stratos' effect, I get to add Sparkman to my hand!" Jaden said as the card popped out of his deck.
"And since you're wide open Stratos will attack you directly!" He said as the wind HERO flew forward and punched her.
Erina: 3700
'Nooo!' Crowler pulled on his handkerchief with his teeth. 'This can't be happening! The slacker has an overwhelming lead on her!' He thought, mortified by the possibility of a Slifer representing them.
"Jaden's playing a dangerous game." Zane assessed after looking at his play style.
"What do you mean?" Syrus asked.
"He's trying to overpower her. Which in of itself isn't a bad strategy, but it becomes very risky when your opponent's entire deck is built to do the same thing." The elder Truesdale said. "One misplay or overextending and he could lose the duel."
"I agree there." Alexis nodded. "Plus, Erina punishes every mistake you make. Hard."
"Not bad…" Erina shrugged it off. While others might lose confidence from Jaden's play and the lead he gained with it, the only thing it did to her is it got her blood pumping for more.
Now things were getting exciting.
Jaden smirked and shook his head slightly at her response. He plucked a card from his hand and inserted it. "I play Legacy of a HERO! Since I have at least two HEROES that are Level four or higher in my Graveyard, I get to draw three cards!"
Jaden drew his cards and looked them over before taking one of them and setting it. "I'll throw down this facedown and end my turn." He said as the card appeared next to the other one.
"I'm not about to let you be in the lead, Jaden! I draw!" Erina drew her card and smiled. "I play Card of Sanctity! Now we both draw until we hold six cards!" She said as they drew their extra cards.
"That's what I call a draw!" Syrus said.
The bluenette plucked a card from her hand and held it up. "I activate Hand Destruction! Both of us now discard and draw two cards!" She explained.
"She's searching for something." Alexis guessed.
"Or she's setting up her Graveyard for a Chaos monster?" Bastion suggested.
"Whatever it is, it spells trouble for Jaden." Zane said.
Erina laughed when she saw what she drew. This changes her play drastically. "All that work last turn, Jaden… and it was for nothing! I activate Monster Reborn!" She inserted the card and the ground behind her began to crack. "Return, Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon!" The dragon reappeared, glaring at Jaden's HEROES. (ATK: 4000/ DEF: 0)
"Wait, I thought Ritual Monsters can't be brought back with Monster Reborn?" Syrus asked.
"You can't normally, unless you properly Ritual Summon them first, Sy." Alexis explained.
She had an evil grin on her face as she held up another card from her hand. "And here's the card that will cause you to shake in your boots! Wrath of the Divine Dragons!" She inserted the card and a white, fiery aura surrounded her Blue-Eyes. "Now Chaos MAX gains one additional attack for every monster on your field!" She revealed, causing Jaden to take a step back in shock. "The only downside is that any damage you'd take would be halved, but that doesn't really matter in this situation!"
"Chaos MAX can attack five times?!" Syrus gasped after counting the monsters on Jaden's field.
"Yes, and if my calculations are correct; if all five attacks go through that equals 6800 points of damage." Bastion said.
"That's enough for Jaden to lose this duel!" Chumley and Syrus realized.
"Chaos MAX Dragon, destroy Stratos! Chaos Burst Rain!" The dragon unleashed his attack on the HERO, destroying him.
Jaden: 4900
"Now, Shadow Mist!" She ordered and the dragon attacked again.
"Not so fast!" Jaden said, quickly responding. "I activate Defense Draw! I take no battle damage from this attack and get to draw a card!" He explained as he drew his card and Shadow Mist was incinerated.
"And now I get to add a HERO to my hand thanks to her effect!" He added, putting Burstinatrix in his hand.
"Dammit…" Erina cursed under her breath. There goes her one turn kill. "Anki is next!" She continued her assault against Jaden's monsters.
Jaden: 4300
The dragon then attacked Dian, destroying her and leaving Jaden wide open.
Jaden: 3700
"Chaos MAX, attack Jaden directly!" Erina ordered, but had a feeling that this attack won't go through.
"Gotcha!" Jaden smirked as he flipped over his facedown. "I activate Drowning Mirror Force!" A water barrier appeared in front of Jaden that absorbed the attack. "When you attack me directly, this trap shuffles all attack position monsters you control back into your deck!" Jaden explained before the barrier suddenly shot forward like a tsunami, washing the dragon away.
Erina grit her teeth as she shuffled her deck. It was irritating how he kept blocking her attempts at winning, but she wasn't about to let that ruin the momentum she's built.
"I banish Chaos Sorcerer and Paladin of Felgrand to summon The Chaos Creator in defense mode!" The cards popped out of her Duel Disk as the purple Titan appeared on the field. (ATK: 2300/ DEF: 3000)
"And I'll activate his effect! I take three of my banished monsters; put two of them at the bottom of my deck and Special Summon the third one!" Erina explained as she held up three cards. "I'll put back Darkflare Dragon and Chaos Sorcerer in my deck." She put the cards back and slapped the third one on her Duel Disk. "And I summon back my Felgrand!" The golden dragon appeared on the field, roaring. (ATK: 2800/ DEF: 2800)
"I set one card and end my turn!" A card appeared in front of her feet. 'He's gonna try to clear my field this turn… let's see if he'll fall for this.'
"My, this is turning out to be quite the intense duel." Banner chuckled as he rubbed Pharaoh's back.
"It is, isn't it?" Miss Fontaine agreed with him. "It's a constant back and forth duel. Neither of them is giving the other the advantage for more than a turn."
The Professor nodded. "Yes, but it's only a matter of time before one of them starts to lose steam and the other uses it to their advantage." He said, hoping that Jaden wouldn't be the first one.
"They're both on equal Life Points." Alexis noticed.
"Yes, but Jaden has a massive lead in hand size." Zane said.
"I draw!" Jaden drew his card and added it to his hand. "I don't like that facedown of yours, Erina, so I'm gonna get rid of it!" He said as he played Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying her facedown. "Shit…" He cursed when he saw that it was Return of the Dragon Lords.
"Thanks!" Erina laughed. "You're so predictable at times!"
Jaden frowned, ignoring her comment as he continued his move. "I summon Elemental HERO Bladedge!" The golden HERO appeared on the field. (ATK: 2600/ DEF: 1800)
"How did you-?" Erina was taken by surprise for a moment before she realized how. "Hand Destruction?" Her eyes narrowed.
"You know it!" Jaden grinned cheekily as he plucked a card from his hand. "And I'll be banishing him and Wildheart with Miracle Fusion to bring out Elemental HERO Wildedge!" He took both cards and pocketed them as the partially armored HERO took the field, brandishing his massive claymore. (ATK: 2600/ DEF: 2300)
"Before I continue, I'll be giving him a little boost!" He held up a card. "H - Heated Heart! This gives Wildheart an extra 500 attack and the ability to do piercing damage!" He explained as a fiery aura surrounded the HERO. (ATK: 2600-3100)
"Alright, Wildedge, attack all her monsters! Infinity Edge Slicer!" Jaden ordered and the warrior charged forward, readying his massive blade for a strike.
It hit The Chaos Creator, slicing him in two and destroying him.
Erina: 3600
Then he jumped from his spot high in the air, striking at the dragon, who blocked the attack with his claws.
Erina: 3300
A card popped out of Erina's Graveyard. "I banish Return of the Dragon Lords to keep my Felgrand from being destroyed!"
"I set two cards and end my turn." Jaden said and Wildedge's attack reverted back to normal. (ATK: 3100-2600)
"My turn!" Erina drew her card and her eyes widened. No way she just drew that! "Oh, Jaden~" She said in an eerie sing-song voice. "Remember back when I gave you Grandmerge, you asked what I got?" She asked.
"Y-yeah…?" Jaden felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up for some reason.
"Well, I'm about to show it to you!" She slammed the card on her Disk. "I banish Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand to summon a dragon so ancient he controls time itself!" Felgrand disappeared as a blueish-black portal appeared behind Erina.
"Mighty dragon born from the sands of time, grace us with your presence and deliver your divine judgment! Descend upon our world, Aeturnus, The Dragon Lord of Time!" A black scaled claw reached out from the portal as a dragon slowly emerged from it. The dragon looked like Felgrand physically, but with a few differences. It had pitch-black scales that absorbed the light shining on them, a cyan underbelly that glowed with energy along with his wings and a pair of intimidating blue eyes. (ATK: 3000/ DEF: 3000)
"That's a big dragon." Alexis gasped.
"I activate Aeturnus' effect!" Erina said. "Once per turn, I can Special Summon one of my dragons that's in the Graveyard or is banished! Rise, Divine Dragon Lord Felgand!" A portal opened next to her dragon, ready to summon back her ace monster.
"I'm not gonna let you do that!" Jaden smirked as he pressed a button on his Disk and one of his facedowns flipped over. "I activate the Trap Card, Hero's Rule 2!" The card shined as the portal closed itself and the black dragon suddenly disappeared.
"What just happened?" Syrus asked in confusion.
"Hero's Rule 2…" Zane scratched his chin. "It negates the activation of a card that targets other cards in the Graveyard and destroys it." He recalled.
"Wow… Jaden was prepared for the unknown." The smaller Truesdale muttered.
"Not necessarily… He was prepared to stop Felgrand from summoning a dragon if it destroyed one of his monsters."
"So much for your dragon." Jaden chuckled, but stopped when a portal opened behind Erina.
"You think you can get rid of him that easily?" The bluenette smirked as Aeturnus emerged from the portal and unleashed a deafening roar. (ATK: 3000/ DEF: 3000)
"How?" Was all Jaden could ask.
"Aeturnus resummons himself if he's destroyed by a card effect." Erina explained with a smug look on her face. "And that's not all he does!"
"There's more?!" Jaden asked in disbelief.
"That's right! Aeturnus can banish one of your monsters into the future, returning it during your next Standby Phase!" She explained. "Go! Time Anomaly!" The dragon's wings began to shine brighter as Wildedge disappeared into the future in a flash of light.
"Now you're wide open…" Erina smirked. "Aeturnus, attack Jaden directly! Reality Splitter!" The dragon began to glow as he formed a ball of unstable energy above his head. Once it was charged enough the orb flew forward, hitting Jaden and exploding.
Jaden: 700
"I end my turn." The bluenette said confidently as the smoke began to clear up.
Jaden groaned as he sat up from the ground. "That hurt…" He complained as he rose to his feet.
"Wow…" Alexis was in awe from this duel. "This duel is getting really intense now."
"It is." Zane agreed with her. "But I have a feeling that we're approaching the climax and it could go either way honestly." Syrus and Alexis noticed something in his voice. Zane sounded excited?
"She got you good with that one." Yubel sounded amused as she looked over Erina's new dragon. She thought it was quite impressive.
"Yeah, and it's gonna be a pain to get rid of it." Jaden said as he drew his card. "Since it's my Standby Phase, Wildedge returns to the field!" He said as his HERO returned to the field, kneeling in defense position. (ATK: 2600/ DEF: 2300)
'She's really backed me into a corner.' Jaden thought as he plucked a card from his hand and inserted it into his Disk. "I end my turn…" He said as another facedown appeared on his field.
'That's right, Miss Kaiba! Put that Slifer in his place!' Crowler cackled from his spot next to the arena. He was elated as he watched Jaden begin to lose this duel. 'There's no way a Slifer will represent our school!'
Erina smirked. "Looks like you finally ran out of steam." She laughed as she drew her card. "Aeturnus, banish Wildedge!" The HERO was once again sucked into the future. "And now I'll use his other effect! Bring back, Felgrand!" The golden dragon materialized next to the black dragon. (ATK: 2800/ DEF: 2800)
"This is the end, Jaden! Felgrand, attack him directly!" Erina threw her arm forward. "Divine God Burst!" The golden dragon threw his head back, beginning to charge his attack.
"I activate my facedown!" Jaden responded, flipping over his facedown. "Flute of Summoning Kuriboh! This allows me to summon my Winged Kuriboh from my deck!" The small fluffy fairy appeared on the field in defense position, cooing happily. (ATK: 300/ DEF: 200)
"Looks like Jaden is going to survive another turn." Alexis smiled.
"Yes, but it won't matter if he doesn't find a way to get rid of that dragon of hers." Bastion said, pessimistically.
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Erina urged her dragon to halt for a moment before turning to Jaden and giving him the angriest look he's seen on her face. "Jaden, you monster!"
"W-what?" He took a step back. "Where's this coming from?"
"You did this on purpose, didn't you?!" She accused him.
"Huh?"
"You know I love that little guy to death and now you're forcing me to attack him!"
"That's what this is about?!" Jaden deadpanned, while Yubel laughed next to him.
"It's your fault for caving in every time she asks to hug him." She said, voice dripping with mirth.
"Don't play dumb with me, Jaden!" Erina yelled before looking at Winged Kuriboh. "I have to do this, okay? Don't hate me..." She choked back a sob.
The little fluff ball cooed happily, reassuring her that he won't hate her for it.
"Geez you're dramatic…" Jaden sweatdropped, but gulped when Erina's eyes snapped back to him.
"You're gonna get it now…" She said coldly. "Felgrand, attack!" The dragon unleashed the golden flames, engulfing and destroying Winged Kuriboh.
"I know that Winged Kuriboh protects you from taking battle damage for the rest of the turn, but you'll still feel the force of the attack!" Erina scowled. This was a sort of payback for making her destroy him.
Aeturnus unleashed his attack, knocking Jaden on his back. "I set a card and end my turn."
"Okay that's just childish…" Jaden complained under his breath as he laid on the floor.
"Maybe…" Yubel agreed. "But, childish or not, she has you cornered and if you don't pull off the win this turn, you're done for."
"Well… it's time to win then." Jaden stood up and placed his fingers on his deck. 'I need… this one!' He drew his card, but didn't look at it yet. "Wildedge returns during the Standby Phase!" The HERO returned to the field. (ATK: 2600/ DEF: 2300)
"Yeah, and he's going away!" Erina pressed a button on her Disk. "I discard a card from my hand to activate Karma Cut! This card banished one face-up monster on your field!" She explained as Wildedge disappeared just as quickly as he appeared.
Jaden took a deep breath as he turned over the card in his hand. His lips upturned into that all too familiar smirk of his.
Erina's eyes widened as she whispered. "No…" How? There's no way he could pull off the win. He has two Normal Monsters in his hand and nothing noteworthy in his Graveyard. So what game changing card did he draw?
"I activate Miracle Fusion!" Jaden inserted the card into his Duel Disk. "You're not the only one with surprises. I'm about to show you my Chaos monster!"
"What?" Erina took a step back.
"The Elemental HEROES have a Chaos monster?" Chumley asked.
"Apparently so, but I've never heard of it." Bastion said.
"I banish Masked HERO Anki and Masked HERO Dian from my Graveyard to summon Contrast HERO Chaos!" The two HEROES appeared on the field before being sucked into a vortex.
"Wait, you can't! Miracle Fusion only summons Elemental HERO Fusion Monsters!" Erina argued.
"While that's true, Contrast HERO Chaos is always a part of the Elemental HERO group!" Jaden smirked as a figure landed next to him. It was a man in a spandex suit and armor, a horned helmet with a white and black gem on the forehead and two, long pieces of cloth that flowed from his back like a cape. The suit's colors were perfectly split down the middle; the left side was pure white and the right side was black. (ATK: 3000/ DEF: 2600)
"Wow, he looks tough!" Syrus exclaimed.
"He does, but with only 3000 attack points it's not enough to defeat Erina's dragon." Bastion pointed out.
"I activate my Trap Card, Soul Union!" Jaden declared as his facedown flipped over. It illustrated Sparkman in a battle stance with Avian's shadow on the ground instead of his own. "This card allows one Elemental HERO I control to gain the attack points of another Elemental HERO in my Graveyard!" He explained as Stratos' shadow appeared beneath Chaos. (ATK: 3000-4800)
"He has enough now!" Alexis smiled.
"But he won't be sticking around for much longer. Erina's dragon still has its effect." Zane reminded.
"Aeturnus, banish him!" Erina ordered and a portal opened behind the HERO.
"I don't think so!" Jaden smirked.
"W-what?" The bluenette's eyes widened.
"Once per turn, Chaos can negate one face-up card on the field! Chaos Containment!" The HERO extended his arm and pointed a finger at the dragon, firing a small beam of light at Aeturnus. The beam turned into chains made out of light as soon as it hit him, shackling him to the ground.
"And now I'm free to attack! Contrast HERO Chaos, attack Aeturnus! Chaos Flash Saber!" Jaden ordered and his monster obliged, forming a blade made out of crackling energy out of his palm before disappearing in a flash. The HERO appeared in infront of the dragon, delivering an upwords slice with his sword, splitting Erina's monster in two as it exploded.

"Contrast HERO Chaos' effect activates when he destroys a monster by battle!" Jaden declared as the smoke cleared. "He can attack again!"
"That means-!" Erina took a step back.
"Erina lost!" Their friends exclaimed simultaneously.
"Noooo!" Crowler screeched in disbelief. This had to be a cruel nightmare! No way Jaden was about to win!
"Go, Chaos Flash Saber!" The HERO jumped up in the air. He suddenly changed trajectory when he got high enough; shooting downwards like a missile with his sword pulled back as he approached Felgrand, delivering the decisive blow as he hit the ground, causing a spectacular explosion to end the duel.
Erina: 0
The crowd roared with excitement as soon as Erina's Life Points hit zero, clapping and cheering as loud as they could.
"That was quite the nail-biter." Alexis said, smiling slightly over the fact her boyfriend won.
"Yeah, it was epic!" Chumley grinned.
"It was a good show indeed." Bastion nodded.
"Yeah, and it's kinda intimidating seeing these two go all out." Syrus chuckled nervously.
Zane just silently stood up and left. 'So that's how you duel when you take your opponent seriously, huh?' He smirked. His suspicion turned out to be true. Jaden was holding back against him. 'Well then, next time we duel, Jaden, you won't have a choice but to take me seriously.' And he had the perfect opportunity in mind for their next duel. All he had to do was make sure he gets it.
The two duelists met in the middle and gave each other a quick hug. "Dammit, and I thought I had you this time." Erina sighed, but smiled nonetheless.
"You almost did." Jaden admitted. "You backed me into a corner so effortlessly, and if it wasn't for that Miracle Fusion, you would've won." He chuckled.
"Well, you still won in the end." She admitted, gracefully accepting her defeat. "But next time you're going down." She promised to which Jaden just smirked.
"I can't believe it! That Slifer is really going to represent us! Oh god, he's going to represent me as well!" Crowler cried, rocking back and forth on the verge of a mental breakdown.
"So it's settled then." Chancellor Sheppard stood up. "Jaden Yuki will be representing us in the duel against North Academy! Well done, my boy! I'm sure you'll make our school proud!"
Jaden grinned excitedly. "They won't know what hit them!"
And there we go! The Duel Off is finished and Jaden is gonna go against Chazz in the School Duel!
This one is shorter than the other two because, well, that's how I saw these two decks play out against each other.
Now, I might've overdone it with the custom monster, but, eh. It can't be searched easily and I won't rely on it too much.
