Thalia's P.O.V

I didn't know what was happening. All I knew was one minute Percy was fine, talking to us all and then the next he's struggling to breathe, and no-one knows why. Once we'd been told that Percy had been put in a medically induced coma, I had expected Aunty Sally, Uncle Paul, Estelle, and Annabeth to head back into Percy's room with Percy's dad.

Which sort of happened, but Annabeth ran off towards the exit with a cold angry look on her face. If I didn't know any better, I'd have said she knew exactly what was happening, but I still didn't understand why she'd left Percy. She was the reason he'd woken up, we all knew it, so where was she going now? What was so important?

I made a split second decision and followed Annabeth out of the hospital, at the very least I could give her a ride to wherever she wanted to go.

"Annie, wait up!" I called when I finally reached her. "Let me give you a ride."

She didn't say anything but nodded and we headed towards my car. Eventually as I started the engine, she told me to drive to the police station and that's when I knew, for definite, that she wanted to confront Luke.

Luke's P.O.V

"Tell me what I want to know Luke!" Annabeth demanded again. "What did you use in the failsafe?!"

"I DON'T KNOW!" I screamed back at her. "OKAY! I don't know, only he knows!"

She was not happy to see me. I'm not even sure she actually wanted to see me. What was I supposed to do? She hated me now, and I didn't know what she wanted to know. How was I supposed to make things okay between us again?

Annabeth's P.O.V

Thalia drove me to the police station. I was going to walk, and I was so angry at Luke that I probably should have walked. When we got there Thalia came in with me despite my protests that I'd be fine. She'd always done that for me, looked out for me when I didn't know I needed her to.

I asked to speak to Luke as politely as I could manage and the Officer on the desk, Martha something said that she'd see what she could do. Detective Thompson, who I'd spoken to before came out to see me.

"George, you shouldn't ask her." Martha argued with him.

"I know, but if she's speaking to him anyway" Detective Thompson, George said.

"No. She's been through enough. You wouldn't ask William if it was him, and you won't ask her." She said firmly, as if I wasn't standing right here. I was grateful though. I didn't know what Detective Thompson wanted me to ask or say to Luke, but Martha was defending me. It struck me for a moment, as odd that he was taking orders from her. He out ranked her, officially. If I hadn't caught the way they were looking at each other, I don't think I would have known, as once the decision was made not to ask whatever it was, they went back into their normal everyday roles. But I was pretty sure that Martha and George were a couple.

Gods! I've been spending too much time with Piper! It was none of my business if Martha and George were or weren't together. I was here for Percy. I was going to convince Luke to tell me what I needed to know so I could help Percy in the only way I knew how, in the only way that I could.

Detective Thompson, George, lead me through to an interview room and didn't ask whatever it was he surely wanted to ask of me. There I waited until a couple of officers brought Luke in. The smile that graced his face when he saw me turned my stomach. It was bad enough speaking to him the first time, but Percy needed me, and I was not about to let him down. No matter how angry I was, and I was seething, Luke just couldn't tell.

"Annabeth! You came back to see me!" Luke said joyfully.

"Hi Luke." I said curtly, "I want to know what you put in the failsafe that you left with Percy." I cut straight to the point.

"Why?" He asked.

"Why do you think?" I hissed.

"I don't know." He said, looking confused and I didn't understand why, he had set up the failsafe after all, hadn't he? "How are you?" He asked like it was the most normal thing in the world.

"How am I?" I repeated the statement took me aback somewhat. "Let's see, shall we?" I said angrily, unadulterated rage filtering into my voice. "My boyfriend was kidnapped by my childhood brother-figure for almost a week, then once I'd convinced you to tell me where he was, a failsafe, that you set up, was activated when the police went to retrieve him and now after another week he's woken up and your BLOODY FAILSAFE HAS SENT HIM BACK INTO A BLEEDING COMA!" I paused to bring my volume back under control. "So tell me Luke how the devil do you think I am?!" I in a dangerously quiet hiss.

"I see, so you didn't want to see me." He said sounding angry too. Good. I thought if we're going to do this we might as well get everything out.

"No I didn't come to socialise. Tell me what you did to him Luke!" I demanded.

"I didn't do anything." He said which only riled me up more.

"Tell me what I want to know Luke!" I demanded again. "What did you use in the failsafe?!"

"I DON'T KNOW!" He screamed back at me. "OKAY! I don't know, only he knows!"

Only he knows. What's that supposed to mean? Who is he?

"Tell me who he is then Luke," I demanded but not as angrily, the curiosity of my mind was ebbing away at my anger. But that didn't mean I was going to take it easy on him.

"Me!" He cried, "He's me, but he's not!" He said placing his head in his hands.

"Explain it to me, so I can understand." I said to him, suddenly starting to see how the Luke I thought I knew could do this.

"I can't they took him away, the doctors they took him away." Luke said.

I remembered the night they'd asked me to speak to Luke to see if I could help find Percy. I remembered a team of doctors assessing Luke before I got to speak to him. I was just now starting to wonder what was wrong with Luke, and not in a disgusted way that I had been up until now, in a concerned way. There was something actually really wrong with him. What had Chris said to me? Luke wasn't stable. Had he meant that literally like I'd thought he had or mentally like I was now suspecting?

"You have some form of split personality disorder." I said thinking out loud.

"I've never been diagnosed, but yes I think so. My mom has it too if it's what I think it is." Luke said no longer meeting my eyes.

His mom had it too. I wandered if that was why May Castellan stopped making public appearances when her split personality came through.

"How long ago did they give you your last set of medication?" I asked.

"I don't know." He said which irritated me, but it wasn't unexpected. I wasn't an expert in mental health or anything to do with it really, but I was pretty sure they couldn't 'cure' the split. But they could help suppress it for a while. Which meant that, the Luke I needed to speak to, was still in there I just needed to draw him out again. I just didn't know how to do that. I didn't know if I wanted to do that. But I knew that if one version of Luke knew what he'd done, this version would know too, I just had to get him to unlock the information.

"You do know Luke. It's in there, you just have to want to find it." I told him pointing to my head to indicate where I meant. I had to help Percy, that was my goal and if it meant guiding Luke to it, I'd try my best. I had to, no matter how angry it made me.

"I can't Annabeth."

"You can," I hissed, "You're just choosing not to."

"Don't ask me to think like him."

"You already think like him, he's you! What did you put in the failsafe?" I asked for a third time.

"I told you, I DON'T KNOW!"

"AND I TOLD YOU THAT YOU DO!" If he wanted to yell, I could yell too.

"NOT EVERYTHING GOES THE WAY YOU WANT IT TOO JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE ANNABETH FUCKING CHASE!" He spat.

"OH BECAUSE MY LIVE HAS BEEN SO PERFECT, HAS IT? I'VE BEEN GIVEN EVERYTHING I WANTED IS THAT IT LUKE? GO ON TELL ME HOW PERFECT MY LIFE HAS BEEN IN COMPARISON TO YOURS!"

"Of course it is!" He hissed. "You've got everything you've ever wanted!" He wasn't yelling anymore but I could see he was still angry.

"Have I really, well that's certainly good to know isn't it! Thanks for letting me know that I wanted the love of my life to be unconscious in a fucking hospital, and not be able to do one single thing about it. I didn't know that was on my list of life achievements but thank you for enlightening me, Luke." I hissed in sarcastic anger. How dare he tell me that I've got everything I've ever wanted, like he even knows what that is!

Recognition flicked in his eyes. "Annabeth," he said and there was no anger in it, but there was guilt.

"Don't" I cut him off. "Tell me what I want to know Luke, or I'll wait until he tells me. I'm not leaving until I know how to save him." I told him icily. Percy needed me, and I would not let me down again.

Piper's P.O.V

Jason refused to leave the hospital until we had an update about Percy's improvement. I didn't blame him, but I was really worried about Annabeth. I knew she'd be okay with Thalia, who had followed her out of the hospital, but I knew she was seething. I'd seen angry Annabeth before, but it was nothing on how angry she was when she walked out of the hospital. I had a fairly good idea, of where she was going, too.

I hoped she was doing what she had been doing over the last couple of weeks, I hoped she was searching for answers. It grounded her in a logical way, it kept her focused. I also knew Thalia could reel her in if necessary to stop her going too far. I hoped if she did go to Luke for answers that she didn't let him hurt her any more than he already had.

"How could Annabeth just leave?" Jason asked sounding broken. "Doesn't she care?"

"Of course she cares!" I defended my friend. "But she's incredibly angry right now and she needs to outlet that. She wouldn't want to turn that on any of us, just because she's upset. She knows everyone here is hurting just as much as she is, but she doesn't want to make that worse by snapping at anyone." I tried my best to explain.

Jason sighed. "I know, I'm sorry, I just - I don't know what to do."

"I know," I said squeezing his hand in what I hoped was a supportive manner. "Why don't we go on a coffee run for everyone?" I suggested.

"Yeah okay, hospital coffee won't be as good as Aunt Sally's though." He replied.

"No, it won't, but it'll give you something to do." I said and he nodded.

We made the rounds seeing who wanted coffee, tea etc. then headed down to the hospital coffee shop to buy it. It took about ten minutes to walk there but it felt longer as we walked in silence. I knew Jason was trying to figure out what to do, what was best for his family. I could see the responsibility weighing on him and I didn't know how to share the burden.

"How can I help you?" I asked him as we waited to order.

"I don't know, if I knew what I could do to help him..." He trailed off.

"Jason, the doctors are doing everything that they can to figure out what's happening with Percy. What Sally and Paul need you to do right now is support them, by just being here and maybe entertaining Estelle for a bit. But my point is, you're doing all you can do right now. I know it's frustrating and I can see you want to do more. I want to do more, but until we know more, we'll have to accept that we're doing all that we can do." I said, before placing our order with the barista.

"You're right." He said pulling me flush to his side and pressing a kiss to my forehead. "Thanks Pipes, I needed to hear that." Jason said.

"I'm glad I can help." I said honestly.

Harder than seeing Percy lying there unconscious from something we all had no idea about, was seeing how hurt everyone around me was. I hurt too, Percy was after all my friend as well, but I didn't feel like my pain was anywhere close to Jason's, or Thalia's, or Hazel's or Nico's. And if it wasn't anywhere close to theirs it certainly wasn't anywhere near how much pain Annabeth, Sally, Paul, Estelle, and Percy's dad must be feeling.

I wanted to help them all, help take some of their pain away, I just didn't know how to do it. The obvious answer was to wake Percy up all healthy and unaffected by whatever it was that Luke had done to him. But I wasn't a medical professional, I couldn't do anything to help with that. Hell! The medical professionals were even struggling with that!

I was also going to have to settle for doing what I was doing. It didn't feel like much, but I hoped it would be enough to help, even if it was only for a little while, until Percy woke up. I had to hope that was enough for now. I'd managed to help Jason a little and my next, major concern was Annabeth. She was going to need all the help I could give her to outlet some of that anger I'd seen. Although I was pretty sure I didn't know the half of it yet. I just hoped she didn't do anything stupid when she saw Luke.
